Citizen journalism graduate Kobi Libii discusses Breitbart’s signature reporting style and its role in building journalistic authority and legitimacy among its readership. Breitbart, an alternative right-wing news website, legitimizes its journalism and attacks mainstream media through recontextualized news. The article analyzes the influence of the islam community, which has 298K subscribers. Breitbart’s tweets are linked to stories posted on the website, often picked up and repurposed from local media, and then spread to a broader audience.
Alex Marlow, editor of Breitbart, is the latest cynical purveyor of misinformation to confess his sins. The conservative website has become a key player in the US and UK political scenes, with controversies and ties with Trump and UKIP. Breitbart played central journalistic roles in the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal, Shirley Sherrod’s firing, and the ACORN 2009 undercover videos.

Is there a way to give Kobi a hard salute? I mean, there’s Stranaham trying to call out the “bullshit” that “Kobi is spewing” while simultaneously proving Kobi right. Then there’s Kobi, keeping in character, while subtly saying, “We’re just doing what you are doing.” Jordan, you have an awesome crew here
I have the impression that the Kuleshov effect thing is not necessarily teaching, “here’s how you manipulate the audience”, but rather “here’s how they manipulate the audience”. I’m not really defending them, though. I think most of those conspiracy theorists actually believe all this BS, and wouldn’t outright teach, “this is how you lie convincingly”, but would rather try to discredit mainstream media. They just believe their dot-connecting abilities regardless, just by being prone to believe in conspiracy theories. In these alt-nazi related circles, with nazi-compatibility being a requirement for believability, as opposed to something more random with extraterrestrials, or conspiracy theories that place right-wingers as the conspirators.
Bruuuh! Kobi’s too good this is like the old Daily Show field pieces. Beautiful. Seeing this really made me think about how dope it is that Jon Stewart’s Daily Show built this political satire style that people who worked under him branched out into their own thing. Colbert, Klepper, Sam Bee, John Oliver. Kobi seems to understand that style and executes it to perfection.
This is absolutely brilliant, but when he got Kobi to start fighting with him that’s when the plot was lost. These liars can deal with screaming matches, they are their bread and butter. What they can’t deal with is slow, earnest, polite questioning about facts, from people who have done their research. That’s where they are clueless.
Well shit, guess me and fuckin Bannon have something in common. But while i got from Koyaanisqatsi that mankind is destroying its environment and with it its soul and itself, Bannon sees ‘how to juxtaposition unrelated things to plant an idea in peoples head’. Glad that him and i are still nothing alike
I have lived in Twin Falls for 38 years. It certainly is a conservative area. I have been involved with the College of Southern Idaho who have helped with the refugee center we have here. I have been associated with the refugee center. My daughter was president of the Diversity Council at the local college. We were able to put together a Thanksgiving Dinner for the refugees a few years ago. It was a great experience where I met many of those refugees being supported by the center. Interesting stories and good citizens of Twin Falls. There is no ISIS problem. And the incident reported was misrepresented by those “journalists” just trying to attack anyone they don’t see as a true white supreme being. Come to Twin Falls and enjoy the community. It is supportive for the most part of those with different ethnic and religious backgrounds.
It’s comedy… But… This is actually some decent reporting about the massive craziness erupting in our country… I didn’t really pay any attention to the “infowars” people and mentally equated them to “flat earthers” in how much I thought they were driving our national conversation… But if this is really how they do business then it seems I need to pay more attention to this lunatic fringe…
😂why the fuck is this in my feed, I subscribed to Comedy Central, not Washington post, but this was still hilarious sarcasm and it’s great that you’re bringing knowledge of these racist ideas and attacks against Islam. The issue I have is that you only target Trump with most jokes, not saying he isn’t PERFECT to make fun of, but I feel you’re saying Hilary is a better politician, she’s not, they’re both fucking terrible, please make fun of Hillary or something she did in one of you’re skits or something. I don’t like following anything that’s one sided
