Are Masks Still Required For Rite Aid?

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is providing free adult N95 masks at Rite Aid stores, with supplies limited. Customers can visit the mask table or pharmacy checkout to receive their free masks, with a limit of three per person. For safety, pharmacists will still be required to wear a mask while vaccinating customers. Plexiglass shields have been installed at the pharmacy and front-end counters, and in-store social distancing protocols have been developed.

Free N95 masks are now available at pharmacies and health centers nationwide. Walgreens, Rite Aid, and CVS have masks at some locations, and more will become available soon. If a customer does not have a face covering, Rite Aid will provide one free of charge. Fully vaccinated employees may work without wearing a face covering, unless otherwise mandated by local government officials.

Rite Aid is keeping its mask requirement policy in place for all customers and associates. Face masks or shields have been mandatory for Rite Aid associates since May 1 and have been required for customers in communities where face coverings are required by law in public spaces. There will be a limit of three free N95 masks to each person at participating pharmacies and retailers like Rite Aid, CVS, or Walgreens, as well as community health centers. Masks will start being distributed the week of 01/23, and the program should be effective.

Major retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, Home Depot, and Target allow fully inoculated customers who are two weeks past receiving their second Pfizer or Pfizer Plus vaccine. The CDC’s new mask guidelines state that it is now safe for fully vaccinated people to take their masks off in most settings. Rite Aid and CVS have face masks for their employees, but will limit customers as a new state order goes into effect on Sunday.
