During the first Voldemort situation, Aurors were authorized to use the Unforgivable Curses, which were highly skilled in dark magic. They were an elite group of witches and wizards working for the Ministry of Magic as law enforcement officials. Aurors were responsible for bringing to justice many Dark wizards who supported Voldemort during the 1970s and battled giants, killing many.
The requirements to become an Auror are rigid, with Harry, Ron, and Neville becoming Aurors after the Battle of Hogwarts. Aurors were allowed to use the curses during the First Wizarding War and during the height of the Second Wizarding War under Lord Voldemort’s regime. However, this would have been repealed following Voldemort’s demise.
Under certain circumstances, an Auror can be authorized to use the Unforgivables, specifically the Killing Curse, but this is rare. The Ministry of Magic employs Aurors to pursue and apprehend Dark wizards, and they are well-versed in offensive magic. The most dangerous spells in the Wizarding World, Crucio, Imperio, and Avada Kedavra, were made legal, but the Ministry of Magic allows aurors or anyone else battling dark wizards to use them.
Aurors are considered the magical equivalent of highly trained intelligence officers, and their abilities are not seen as strange to anyone in Hogwarts. The Ministry of Magic employs Aurors to pursue and apprehend Dark wizards, and some underage magic while growing up in the Muggle world went unpunished.
📹 History of The Wizard Police: Aurors – Harry Potter Explained
Hey everyone, welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re diving in to the history of AURORS. How do you stop a Dark Wizard?
What spell beat Voldemort?
Expelliarmus, or the Disarming Charm, is a spell that drives out a weapon, often a wand, and is often seen in duels. Harry, a skilled combatant, was deeply enamored with the spell and used it to defeat Lord Voldemort. Professor Snape, a former follower of Voldemort, taught Harry the spell during Professor Lockhart’s Duelling Club. Despite initially struggling with the Summoning Charm, Harry quickly developed an aptitude for Expelliarmus, which allowed him to use it in challenging situations.
Within months of learning it, Harry used it to retrieve Riddle’s diary from Malfoy and disarm Lockhart. He spent the final hours of the second year practicing Expelliarmus, becoming very good in the process. This relationship between Harry and Expelliarmus has both positive and negative aspects.
Who is the darkest wizard in Harry Potter?
Lord Voldemort, Tom Marvolo Riddle, was the most dangerous Dark wizard of all time, known for his horrific achievements. Dolores Umbridge, a spiteful and prissy woman, was known for her cruel treatment of a student. Gellert Grindelwald, the second-most-famous Dark wizard, was highly intelligent and idealistic, but his gifts were warped by malice. His defeat in 1945 by Albus Dumbledore was legendary, as his motives were warped by malice. These Dark wizards played significant roles in the wizarding world.
What spells do Aurors use?
It is within the capacity of Aurors to swiftly employ the Crucio or Stunner spells to subdue or incapacitate Death Eaters. However, they are more inclined to utilize defensive or straightforward spells, such as Stupefy, Expelliarmus, or Petrificus Totalus, to restrain and apprehend criminals. This aligns with their capacity to neutralize threats at the last moment.
What are the disadvantages of dark magic?
Dark magic has limitations such as anti-magic, magic destruction, magic negativity, magic sealing, and magical energy absorption. It can be highly addictive and can have corruptive effects on the user’s mind and soul. White Arts can be effective against this power, and a combination of white-dark arts can overpower the user. Users of Magic Immunity are immune to damage caused by dark magic.
Dark magic can be found in various forms of literature, including comics, cartoons, folklore, mythology, literature, live television, movies, anime, manga, video games, and web animation. Characters from various media, such as Dominic Deegan, Daevites, Sarkic Cults, Alastor, Richard Ashendale, The Order of the Stick, Nox Decious, The Darkness, and The Moon Blade Sect, have been featured in various media.
What type of spell is Morsmordre?
Morsmordre is a dark charm incantation used to conjure the image of the Dark Mark, a skull-and-serpent sign used by Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. The mark is believed to have been created by Voldemort himself. Morsmordre became a signature move for the Death Eaters during the First Wizarding War, used to claim credit for murders and further terrify the wizarding community. After Voldemort’s first defeat, the Mark was no longer visible, as the method for casting it was only known to the inner circle of Death Eaters. Few wizards knew how to perform this spell, making it a valuable tool for escaping death or Azkaban.
Who is the greatest Auror of all time?
Alastor Moody was a legendary Auror known for his high-level dueling skills and the number of Dark wizards he caught. Despite not being promoted to Head of the Auror Office, he was respected by most rookie Aurors. Moody was swift and powerful in battle, capable of dueling two opponents simultaneously and using his magical prosthetics. After the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry decided to train to become an Auror instead of returning for his seventh year at Hogwarts. He exceeded expectations by mastering difficult spells, instructing others in defensive magic, and defeating the most powerful Dark wizard of all time.
What spell killed Bellatrix?
In the final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2, Molly uses a spell that freezes Bella, likely Petrificus Totalus, and then shatters her entire body into pieces, possibly expelliarmus, bombarda, or stupefy. This change from the book is likely due to the theatrical effect of Bella being frozen in one second and then shattered in the next. Molly, a pure-blood witch from the Prewett family, is known for her siblings Gideon and Fabian Prewett, who were killed by Death Eaters in the First Wizarding World.
How powerful are the Aurors?
After the war ended, Bellatrix Lestrange and her family tortured Alice and Frank for information about Voldemort’s whereabouts. Despite the Cruciatus Curse, the Longbottoms withstood it for a long time. Tonks, a member of the Order of the Phoenix, realized she could serve as an Auror and protect the prophecy in the Department of Mysteries. She led Ministry officials like Rufus Scrimgeour in the search for Sirius Black, focusing on the fight that mattered.
Tonks upheld her duties as an Auror and member of the Order by defending the innocent and fighting powerful Death Eaters during various battles. The only Death Eater powerful enough to defeat Tonks was Bellatrix Lestrange.
What are the three classes of dark spells?
Dark magic refers to spells that consistently affect objects negatively, often causing discomfort. These spells can be classified into three groups: jinxes, hexes, and curses. As one ascends up the hierarchy, the more wicked, the stronger, longer-lasting, and less reversible the spell’s effects appear. The Unforgivable Curses are the strongest known Dark Spells in existence.
Dark potions include the Rudimentary Body Potion, which creates a rudimentary body for a non-corporeal wizard. Voldemort’s rebirth potion, an old piece of Dark Magic, requires a Dark wizard to exist within a rudimentary body that can be placed within a cauldron. If the enemy’s blood contains infections or protections, it can poison or protect the wizard or witch reborn with it.
The Drink of Despair is a potion used in a basin where the locket Horcrux was hidden. Consuming this potion causes the drinker to see “terrible things”, dehydrate, and experience excruciating burning, similar to the presence of a Dementor. These potions are used to create a powerful and destructive presence in the world.
Are Aurors allowed to use unforgivable curses?
During the First Wizarding War, Aurors were allowed to use the Unforgivable Curses, three powerful and sinister spells known to the wizarding world. These curses, first classified as “Unforgivable” in 1717, were tools of the Dark Arts and had strict penalties for their use. The three curses were the Killing Curse, Cruciatus Curse, and Imperius Curse. By the 1990s, using any of these curses on a fellow human being would result in a life sentence in Azkaban without parole, unless there was sufficient evidence that the caster did so under the influence of the Imperius Curse.
Many Dark wizards attempted to use this excuse to prevent incarceration when caught, particularly after the First Wizarding War. Exceptions exist, such as Solomon Sallow, who used one on a Dark wizard without legal repercussions. Aurors were allowed to use the curses during the First Wizarding War and during the height of the Second Wizarding War under Lord Voldemort’s regime.

Interesting how dangerous “Aurors” can be. Its very vulnerably actually. Even when they believe they are doing good and following orders. (Same as our soldiers/police) It depends hard on the Ministry and the people controlling it. As example the Ministry vs Harry Potter and they would have used force even deadly force against Dumbledore when Fudge wanted him arrested if commanded so, we can all agree those orders would not have been just or good, but they would have followed it believing they are doing good with just actions.
i wonder if things changed with harry leading the Aurors and Hermine later on getting the posission of minister of magic. I can see them trying to make the relationship with the other species better, afther all Harry is quite firendly towards them like houseelfs and centaurs, and he isent someone that would push away a werwolf for no reasons.
What I love about HP is how its still a growing society. They have their government and laws but its still a highly classist society with openly repressed and enslaved creatures. And like many “good” doers they still participated in that repression in certain ways because its what was acceptable. I don’t blame some for viewing the aurors the same as any dark wizard
While being an Auror seems cool in a resume, I don’t think it’s that great of a job for a wizard/witch. You must be able to follow orders, even when you don’t agree with them. (Imagine if the Ministry is as corrupted as during Fudge’s mandate) That’s a red flag for me. Of course, it’s also very risky since you’re constantly hunting dark wizards/witches. So, it’s not 100% sure you will grow old. That said, it’s still very selective and must be a vocation. Not something to do for clout. Though, I think Neville and Ron understood that it wasn’t for them despite being powerful wizards. (They did the job for a couple of years before moving on to healthier jobs) If I was a wizard, I would probably be a freelance curse-breaker. Choosing my own contracts at Gringotts, taking vacations whenever i want, paid well, and from time to time fighting dark wizards responsible for cursed places.
I hate that Harry became an Auror. First off, he knew he was the master of the Elder Wand and wanted to bring it to his grave, to break it’s power, and he knew just how fickle the wand could be. So he pursued a career where he was in constant danger of being disarmed/taken out? By the very ministry that had persecuted him for years? Nah, I don’t buy it. Harry had won his peace and quiet; he should have sought a far less dangerous career, probably as a professor at Hogwarts, his one true home.
I still cannot fathom how Fudge could have been so foolish to think that he, Dolores Umbridge, Shakelbolt and Dawlish stood a chance against the man who defeated Grindelwald in duel … perusal this scene it’s plainly clear that Dumbledore could have, if he so desired, taken on the entire Auror Office of the British Ministry for Magic.
Dumbledore and Grindelwald are very like Professor X and Magneto, one seeks peaceful coexistence with the Muggles while the other sees wizards as the “superior species” who should rule the world. I’m looking forward to seeing Grindelwald’s epic breakout scene the very next movie (hopefully it’s even better than Magneto’s breakout scene XD)
Colin Farrell killed it in this movie. He was a brilliant choice for Graves and honestly should have been kept alive to return in future sequels, as Graves was a powerful auror enough that his displays of magic seen by the ministry, including wandless magic, drew no significant suspicion to him up until this point.
A few thoughts about Newt capturing Grindelwald with such apparent ease (apologies for the length): 1) When Grindelwald fought Newt earlier, Newt attempted only one attack, a standard magical blast with his wand, and it was easily deflected. The rest of the battle Newt spent dodging, defending, and almost getting electrocuted. Grindelwald would not have seen him as an offensive threat, especially compared to the Aurors. 2) Grindelwald’s speech was intended to plant seeds of doubt in his listeners about the MACUSA policy of hiding – and when he says “I ask all of you” he takes a long look back at Newt and Tina. He knows they watched Credence get (apparently) killed, and I’m sure he wants them to be thinking about Credence when he says “who does this law protect?”, and wants them thinking that the law is what forced Credence into his condition and ultimately got him killed. Despite having just fought both of them, because of Credence they’re his most likely “converts” to opposition to the law. 3) If you watch the Auror’s blasts hit Grindelwald’s shield, from the way the energies dissipate it looks like the shield is spherical. So he was prepared for that kind of magical attack by Newt or Tina as well as the Aurors, and if either of them had attacked magically like that, their attacks would have similarly hit the shield and been deflected. 4) Also, when he starts walking back and the battle begins, Tina and Newt are on his left but still in front of him. He can see that they’re not attacking along with the Aurors.
There’s been so much negativity towards Johnny Depp’s casting as Grindelwald and honestly, it’s irritating. We’ve only seen him as Grindelwald for just about a minute and that’s barely enough to start saying he’ll be terrible in the role. Besides, if Rowling believes he is the right choice then I’m confident. It’s true he’s not been on top form for a while now, but give him a chance. Playing the villain may suit him. Personally I think his brief part was promising. He was chilling and the expressions he made (that smile he gives Newt as he’s lead away) were spot on. And am I the only one who thinks the design of Grindelwald was great? Just my opinion though.
Wow, that scene was awesome. I don’t know how he was able to deflect all them spells the Auror’s was casting. An average wizard/witch could only deflect spells from one or a few wizards/witches, but Grindelwald was able to deflect from many Aurors at the same time and hit some Auror’s back. But I noticed Madam President Sarafina Picquery did not draw her wand, she looked amazed and I think she knew right then that was Grindlewald because I don’t believe Graves could ever hold back that many Aurors. The MACUSA President is very powerful with in her own right, it would have been interesting to see a duel between the two of them. But I think Dumbledore could possibly be the only one that could have stopped him, but who knows, Madam Picquery is very powerful too.
It’s crazy just to imagine how actually powerful Grindelwald was, and how could it be if he had created Horcruxes for him. But is very important to say that Grindelwald didn’t created the horcruxes not because he couldn’t, he most like could have done as well, but he never was obsessed with immortality or afraid of dying like Voldemort was. As a matter of fact, he always knew what creating those would cost him, and that death is inevitable, which makes him at the very least, far more wise than Voldemort. I personally think that Grindelwald was more powerful than Voldemort in terms of knowledge/spell skills, but Voldemort was far more cruel, destructive, and at his end almost irrational (also very skilled), which combined, made him even more dangerous than Grindelwald itself. J.K. Rowling world is even more amazing when you can see the details she has created!
Grindelwald weilds Mr. Grave’s wand here. That is obviously not the elder wand. If you read the Elder Wand Wikia, it was passed from Grindelwald to Dumbledore to Draco Malfoy to Voldemort, then to Harry Potter. It was never owned by Tina or Newt (as some said Newt disarmed Grindelwald and Tina Accio the wand), it confirms that was not the elder wand
What bothered me the most about this scene was how calm and collected everyone was as Grindelwald not only deflected and was killing off the auror’s but he kept up his pace while doing so. Soldiers can do that, hardened criminals can do that but I find what counts as the wizard police not even flinching is just downright odd.
Just what I expected from Dumbledore’s archenemy. Grindelwald was using Graves’ wand and yet if it wasn’t for Newt’s sneak attack, he would’ve defeat all aurors and president herself. The reason why Tom Riddle Jr was placed No.1 as most dangerous dark wizard of all time is because he was a psychopath who killed anyone standing in his way. In terms of leadership skills, understanding of human psychology, wisdom, and intelligence, Grindelwald was superior. If you read Deathly Hallow, you can see that even though he was already dead, Dumbledore had Voldmort on his palm. Dumbledore’s planning skills and understanding of people’s relations allowed him to completely toy with Riddle. Grindelwald’s skills and intelligence are near mirror level of Dumbledore. In terms of over all skills, Grindelwald deserves No.1 in the list of most powerful dark wizard of all time. Unlike Grindelwald’s ideology was somewhat understandable, Voldmort was using blood superiority as his tool for gaining more power for himself only.
This to me was so epic bc Voldemort ran away from the aurors, but here Grindelwald takes on as many of them as he can and seems to have an upper hand until Newt caught him from behind. Plus he wasn’t using his own Wand, nor the Elder Wand, so even a casual movie goer would go “WOW, this guy is powerful and Albus Dumbledore beat him when he possessed the Elder Wand?”
am I the only one confused as to why they were more than willing to execute Newt and Tina for accidentally releasing creatures and inadvertently (in their eyes) causing the death of a no maj) but they capture one of the darkest wizards of all time and no one thinks to say “hey guys this wizard is super dangerous and super guilty, I mean we have a way of killing wizards right here why don’t we just deal with this here and now?”
Gonna get so much hate for this but in this one scene with few lines Johnny boy exuded more charisma and surreptitious danger than all of Ralph Fiennes performances combined. This is such a weird universe that I think he’ll bring something really interesting to what is essentially the Prequels of the Harry Potter universe.
People talking about how strong Grindelwald is, but let’s talk about how strong Graves is. Everything he does before now is what he’s actually capable of, not Grindelwald. The “oh shit” look on the President’s face was the realization. Graves was capable of everything Grindelwald did in his body up to now, meaning he was a top rate wizard who Grindelwald subdued and used as a disguise.
As much as I’m sure the real rivalry is between Dumbledore and Grindlewald, I’m curious if Grindlewald will cross paths with Newt again in future films. Yes, Dumbledore is Grindlewald’s former friend and archenemy, but I’m sure he’s not gonna forget Newt. He’ll probably be itching for the chance to get back at the man who exposed him and is responsible for him being captured. Just my thought.
Grindelwald casually taking on approximately 20 Aurors at once showed what a badass villain he is. He’s like “Okay, fuck it, let’s get this over with”, then casually dispels their barrier and starts wailing on them without saying a word or even using any aggressive spells. Everything they throw at him is just deflected back at them like a lightsaber deflecting a blaster bolt. It’s a nice contrast to Voldemort, who is much more aggressive. However, this scene wasn’t shot very well. They should have shown Grindelwald dropping his wand before Tina summoned it. Because they didn’t do that most people, myself included, mistakenly thought that she just achieved mastery of the Elder Wand (the fact that Grindelwald wasn’t actually using the Elder Wand means nothing because Draco Malfoy wasn’t using it either when Harry achieved mastery). The Swooping Evil technically disarmed him and the Elder Wand doesn’t recognise animals as its master, but we don’t see the wand drop from Grindlewald’s hand so it’s very easy for people to think that it passed on to a new master in this scene.
So in this scene alone: He combats 20 aurors singlehanded using what appears to be a very powerful shield charm Destroys the barrier they put up with ease Remains in his disguise which requires great concentration and mastery of transfiguration just to pull off nevermind maintain under duress All whilst using a strangers wand he hasn’t mastered, and you want to say Voldemort is a better dualist lol
WAIT A GOD DANG MINUTE!!!! Aight hear me out, would Tina be the new master of the Elder Wand since she disarmed Grindelwald of the wand he was using as Mr. Graves, because if you use the logic as Harry becoming the Master of the Elder Wand by him simply forcefully stealing Draco’s wand from his hand? And Tina disarmed Grindelwald, so therefore Tina is the true master of the Elder Wand.
this fight was lame lol. no imagination – imagine voldemort in that same position. If he was gonna go down it would have been with style, probably messing up the entire underground and everything in it. By having grindelwald taken down this way it negates the powerful presence he’s supposed to have – makes the inevitable dumbledore duel less important when he gets taken down by some bird and arrested. And why couldn’t he just apparate out of there anyway?
Let’s face it: Newt is basically a Pokémon Trainer 0:56 when he releases his creature, it looks like a trainer sending their Pokémon out! The magical creature even makes a noise not unlike a Pokémon cry. Then it flies around to distract Grindelwald before Newt uses Power Whip/String Shot/Vine Whip (take your pick). When Newt calls it back, it seems to shrink and return to him, similar to a Pokémon! As someone who has been a Pokémon and Harry Potter fangirl since i was a kid, i love this movie! I wish they hadn’t cancelled the series.
I see some people here are confused as to why the elder wand didn’t change its allegiance when Grindelwald’s wand was taken. Im no expert here but this is how i view it 1. Grindelwald is not using his own wand here. He’s using Grave’s wand and its allegiance probably still belongs to Grave. So it wasnt his wand in the first place. 2. Someone here mentioned and I agree that Tina used accio instead of expelliarmus so technically he wasn’t disarmed. Maybe these are the reasons why Elder wand still belongs to him.
So after perusal all the Harry Potter movies and this and crimes of grindelwald I think I’m my opinion there’s no real challenge between who is more evil (Voldemort) HOWEVER the one who was more successful in conquering was def Grindelwald. Secondly yes Voldemort was powerful in terms combat magic usage, not arguing that at all. But I still think Grindelwald is stronger and more skilled. Dumbledore says himself he only beat him because he was a “shade more skillful” and that implies to me he was probably the single greatest opponent Dumbledore ever faced. Whereas Voldemort in order of the Phoenix gave his all to try and kill Dumbledore and the headmaster managed to defend himself and Harry and match Voldemort without seeming very worried. So ultimately I think Voldemort while undisputedly more evil he loses to Grindelwald in terms of conquering strategy and magical combat.
You know, it’s a good question: why exactly do wizardkind prefer to hide from Muggle world without interfering in Muggle affairs? I get that JKR is trying to paint an ideal picture of the world – but throughout the history of humanity, or rather, history of life, a weaker group has always been overwhelmed or subsumed by a superior race. Wizards are clearly the superior sub-group of humans. They can literally take over the entire world in a matter of hours if they so chose, if not minutes. So why don’t they? Are they somehow dependent on the existence of Muggles? Is there some symbiotic relationship – that the power that wizards and witches harness is somehow linked to the continued and free existence of Muggles?
Grindelwald shows that he can duel 20 best aurors with no moves right-left. He simply moves towards them. And they use spells with no words so is he. That’s insane. One on one is hard but one against 20 is insane. And look how they fall down one by one. If there is no creature to stop him, he would take them all down. No doubt.
In the wizarding community there are the elite group of magicians- those who are exceptionally skilled and brilliant such as S.Black, S.Snape, Bellatrx, Alastor Mody, B Crouch Jr and Sr and other… But Dumbldore, Grondlwald and Voldrmort are GENIUSES/PRODIGIES. These men are on a completely different level. It is not the elder wand that makes them more dangerous, rather it is THEY who have both the skill, power, will and knowledge to truly use all the the wand has to offer and henceforth provide the wand with such fearsome reputation. With time and traning, Harry P may only day become a formidable wizard but The level of geniuses/prodigies are way beyond, as he himself admitted after witnessing the battle between Dumbldoe and Voldrmort. For all its power, the elder wand is still merely a tool in need of a skilled user…
Am I the only a bit pissed that they caught him? I mean Dumbledore was known for being the one bringing Grindelwald down. It’s described on the frog cards as the biggest thing Dumbledore ever did. Having Newt and the MACUSA capturing him just take away the significance of that upcoming duel. I really hoped the polyjuice would just ware off, revealing Grindelwald to the crowd before he apparated away
He’s soo much more powerful than Voldemort….He knew about LOVE …the most powerful magic….Almost took over the world…Voldemort couldn’t even conquer Great Britain and couldn’t even win a battle at Hogwarts with an overwhelming army….plus….Gellert was a Seer and knew almost as much as Dumbledore (Most powerful wizard of all-time)….Voldemort was a joke in comparison to Grindelwald!
I’m still annoyed with this twist, for a number of reasons. First an foremost: In Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the twist was that someone we thought was a good guy was actually a bad guy. In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the twist was that someone we thought was a bad guy was actually a different bad guy. Kind of lacks any impact from a narrative standpoint.
Okay, this bugs me. J.K. Rowling has pronounced it as Grindel-vald, not Grindel-wald. As a European name, it makes sense to me that it’s that pronunciation. Also, I think Grindelwald would have slaughtered every one of those Aurors. I see Newt’s attack as catching him off guard. Given that the summary for the second film already reveals that Grindelwald has escaped, it’s got to be pretty early on and easy for him, which makes sense.
For the love of all that is holy, get Grindelwald recasted. The character has magnificent potential, as Colin Farrell showed us. Depp is not only scum, but he’s also long since ceased to age well. The character of Grindelwald, with how important he is to the formation of the world we finally see in Harry Potter, deserves better. WE deserve better.
If there was not Newt in that battle with his fantastic beast then Grindlewald would finish all the aurors present there like insect…. Damn.. he was so confident.. I like that… My favourite is Grindlewald because he was the most powerful even Dumbledore took the help of Newt to defeat him… Otherwise Grindlewald rocks….
I thought he is Grindelwald’s lieutanent in America, an otherwise respectable man with different views, and that he will die just before coming close enough to kill the president. It was a letdown that it was Grindelwald all along, especially since Colin Farrel portrays him as a passionate believer with different morals but with humanity, while Depp’s Grindelwald is just an egomaniac with stupid one-liners.
This whole segment could be presented much better by showing the strength of Grindelwald as well as fear of Aurors better when they realized he is not Graves and the opponent they are facing against is someone beyond their skills! How? Well, the whole sequence could be much longer and Graves could be on the breakthrough stage where he deflects as well as knock aurors one by one until one or two remains and then overwhelming with his dedication causing the same fear at 0:56 . Then Newt would use his trick to surprise Grindelwald. The rest is the same!
Seriously they’re physically holding grindelwald? He’s the most powerful wizard at least use some binding levitating charm like what they did at the beginning of the second movie. Also, aurors wouldn’t stop to let him chat to anyone, it’s all the little mistakes that movies make these days that detract from the authenticity and logic.
How fucking stupid is Grindelwald for turning his back to the aurors… One stupefy in that moment would have sufficed… On another note, it has just occurred to me that there is a slight chance that he was reading all of their minds at the same moment, having the situation completely under control.
The fact that he lost that is not surprising he was up against a bunch of wizards and unlike Voldemort he hides behind no one people Overlook the fact that he was defending himself against I’d say at least a hundred Wizards at least and they tend to forget those people are Elite Wizards so I applaud him for that.
Either hiring standarts for Aurors are seriously low in US or they made him way too overpowered. What is to point of even trying to fight somebody who can hold his own against about 20 presumably highly trained people with considerable magical power? It’s the same thing as with action and martial arts movies where they want to show us how powerful the villain and/or hero is so they make everybody else horrible at their job.
the only other criminal thing in this scene is grindelwald’s haircut that shit wack i like his hair in the flashbacks in the harry potter movies lol much like dumbledore’s. another thing i like about this is his confidence to take on a whole auror squad with their president to escape thats screaming power right there no wonder he and albus were considered equals. some of the fics ive read imagined thier battle and taught harry what they knew
I know it was for dramatic build-up etc. but honestly: This scene killed my entire hype for Fantastic Beasts. Personally I was always a bit dissappointed in Voldemort and the skills he showed. Besides the Horcruxes he brought little to impress. So I was seriously excited about Grindelwald. And then he gets taken out like that…
It’s pretty cool to think that both dark lords, Grindewald and Voldemort just didn’t want to fight Dumbledore. They tried to use other people to kill him or just avoided it. In the end Grindelwald did it and lost, even with the elder wand. And Voldemort flee from him in the middle of the fight. Dumbledore was always the most powerful wizard of them all. Imagine what Grindelwald would have achieved if Dumbledore had been on his side. Imagine what Dumbledore would have done if he was a bad person.
