The Apple Magic Trackpad is a wireless device designed by Apple that allows users to use multi-touch gestures on their Mac. It works with Bluetooth when turned on and paired with the Mac. To connect the Magic Trackpad to your Windows PC, follow these steps:
- Turn on the Magic Trackpad and it will automatically enter pairing mode.
- Click the Bluetooth icon on your Mac’s menu bar and select “Set Up Bluetooth Device”. The Bluetooth Setup Assistant opens and looks for nearby Bluetooth devices. Press the “+” symbol for detailed instructions.
- If you prefer using the Magic Trackpad 2 with cabling instead of wireless with Bluetooth, change the computer it’s plugged into.
- Turn on your device and choose Apple menu > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click Bluetooth.
- Double-click the Bluetooth icon in the Windows taskbar. If the Bluetooth icon isn’t visible, click on the + symbol for detailed instructions.
- To setup a Magic Trackpad 2, connect it to your Mac using the Lightning cable. Connect the Trackpad, ensure device’s power is on, and setup using the Lightning cable.
To pair an Apple Magic Trackpad to your computer without a USB mouse, restart your computer, turn on your Bluetooth accessory, and place it near your iPad. Make sure the accessory is in pairing or discovery mode. Open the Settings app on your iPad.

I just got this old version .. wow 10 year old model, a refurb.. still works and clean.. pricey for a 10 year old model at $90+ but I got one anyway to match my old keyboard. The trick to “hold the power until you see the blinking light” is the magic to the magic trackpad. Thanks for your 8 year old article Cristian!
Very helpful. I have had this trackpad since ’12 but am only now setting it up with my MacBook Pro, 27″ Thunderbolt Display, wireless keyboard and mouse. Got the mouse running quickly, but I could not figure out where the on/off button was on the trackpad and even when I did, I just couldn’t figure out where in the world the indicator light was! You solved my problem in less than 2 mins. I watched another vid and the person talked for 5 mins and NEVER said the two basic things, how do you turn it on and where is the indicator light! Thank You!
Thanks for the positive comment, and yes you are right since the trackpad on the MacBook Pro is pretty much the same as using the Magic Track Pad it will be an easy transition to go wireless. please don’t forget to check out my oher easy to follow tutorials on any apple product on my website thank you for perusal.
