So many people think of God as this magical person that’s supposed fix all their problems. They choose to only be involved when things start going bad, not knowing you’re supposed to seek a relationship with Christ at all times. Your relationship with God is only as strong as your efforts. If we lived in a world with no suffering, we would not be able to truly appreciate the good when it does happen.
The problem is the true essence and teachings of Christianity have been ripped to shreds by greedy pastors who only wanted to line their pockets instead of genuinely teaching the true Gospel. Even I have changed the way I worship the higher power and left the traditional black church. Those congregations can be so toxic.
But you know here in Africa… Let me say South Africa to be more specific, we don’t like calling it witch because that’s evil we say traditional healer or inyanga which is more like a hearbilist… Because the European came and decided it was witch craft and decided to call traditional healers witch doctors. We have witches in South Africa and they are not good, in the past people would burn them. I think because of shows like vampire diaries and Sabrina the word has changed meaning.
I basically cried when this lady said that having a relationship with Jesus was toxic. I have been Christian on and off. These women want more than healing, they want control, they want their own guide. I feel sad that the father who is a pastor condemns and shuns her because of what she believes. Jesus isn’t toxic, people are!
It’s very telling that she said she enjoys her new religion because her prayers get answered. Following Christ is not about you, it’s about him and if your prayer is in his will for you. She said she was serving and leading worship, but with the way she speaks you can tell she wasn’t doing these things from the heart. She was doing it to either please others or her flesh.
I will never forget my great grandma was basically going on to the next realm and we all knew it so we brought her back home. She was in bed and sleep most of the time but y’all know how sometimes your loved one may start acting like they’re getting better? She did that for a day and then was back to the sleeping again but while she was sleeping I couldn’t stop thinking about a baby. I’m not sure why. But the day she passed I found out I was pregnant! More crazy stuff happened but man she is telling the truth.
The Almighty God is waiting for those who have turned away from Him to return and for those who are wandering in darkness and don’t know what to do to come find Him. All you need to do is pray. Accept Jesus Christ as your LORD and saviour, repent of your sins and turn away from them. Read the Holy Bible, pray to the Almighty God. Tell Him how thankful you are for His many blessings. Tell Him what you want and need. Ask that he blesses you with the holy spirit to protect you. Don’t wait any longer.

Once I repented and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, everything in my life shifted for the good. He revealed to me what I needed to change in my life for the better. I had to let go of bad habits like drinking, smoking, pornography, masturbation etc. I also had to drop some of my friends. I’ll also say this, the Catholic Church is not it people. They idol worship and pray to Mary. Which is a no no in the Bible. I had to let that go and now I’ve found a non denominational Christian Church. Do not let this world deceive you. I’m a Christian, not only because I go to church but because I have a personal relationship with Jesus, this article just took me right to prayer! It’s really sad for the people that were on a church and never get to know God, I’m not saying it’s their fault. My experience with the Lord was different, I met God because of the miserable life I had, I was so attached to witchcraft, I had a very sinful life. I met God in the middle of my room, laying down in the floor, 6 months pregnant, high on weed and crack, I was just thinking how did I end up here??!, what was going to happen with my baby. And in my desperation I cried to the Lord, I just told Him to help me, if he was real, to help me that I was going to loose my baby my family, that if he was real to take this drug addiction away, to take the urge of it and make me feel disgusted for it. He did! Exactly as I ask him, that was Dec 15, 2015. He clean me, I had my beautiful healthy baby girl, and months after she was born is when the problems started, I was having a spiritual attack, but once again I went back to God, he deliver me, sent me to a church. But guess what?! I left church because I didn’t like it, it was to much for me. But after almost 3 years I went back to that same church, We been in church for 3 years, my baby girl is 6 now, she drives me crazy, she never stops talking 😅 she loves church, she loves Jesus she loves everyone at church. It makes me sad to see all this comments, about people that stop following Jesus because of people.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, and a black woman, I had a few bad experiences in church. For some reason I forgot the church was a house for the sick and not a museum full of saints. I had to be truly sincere and wanting to give up ALL of my sinning and foolishness (including “religion”, which is NOT of God) before he showed up. It took me 45 years for me to be for real, but better late than never. He showed up and washed away all of the garbage. Satan is an instant giver. He makes things look easy and well presented because he is a deceiver and a liar. God on the other hand, does things perfectly, and DIFFERENTLY. It requires faith in him. There are two type of alters the satanic and the Godly. The satanic Alter brings curses with it. When Satan gives you something you want, he wants something in return. Your agreement with his familiar spirits will go after your children etc. The other is the Godly Alter, it brings blessings. Any spirit other than the Holly Spirit is not of God. Jesus is amazing ❤️ Real disciples know that once you fully and wholeheartedly give yourself to Jesus then you could never go back to worldly things. i feel the first girl that was interviewed has a lot of healing she needs to do. you can hear it in her voice (throat chakra) as she tries to speak. seems like something heavy growing up as a pastor’s daughter….. other than that i do think its good that these avenues of spirituality are being more practiced. i think being able to merge religion and spirituality together can be beneficial as well.
Pointing out for people who don’t believe in divination, reading tarot cards for yourself is also a great way of meditating and reflecting on yourself and your life. For example, if you translate a spread to mean that there is someone in your life that you cause friction with, who maybe you should distance yourselves from for a bit for both your sakes, and someone immediately comes to mind? I would love it if black women could just be and not have someone, somewhere, studying every move we make. In my church though, they were just judgmental and would pressure people into things and push their religion on people. They were glutinous, too! They came to church after partying all night and were having sex outside of marriage. Being a witch, I don’t see all the judging Judies. I see people working on themselves (self care and shadow work). I see people doing good in the community (spells to help others, mentoring new witches, etc). It’s much more positive. It breaks my heart that the woman said she had a toxic relationship with Jesus. JESUS. Not God the Father. But JESUS??? That hurts my heart. So many hurt and lost souls that simply don’t know Jesus. Jesus is all love and peace and he prays for us constantly. He advocates for us. It’s hard to explain but the way things are structured Jesus is the only one on our side, even when the heavenly hosts are not 😭 So to hear people reject Jesus is hard. But because of his nature, I understand why he wouldn’t want me to defend him. His sacrifice to the world was a gift. An act of humility. He said not to be angry that we are rejected for loving Jesus because they rejected him first 😢 I pray all the women here find peace and learn who Jesus is. Being a black woman is so so hard. And we are attacked so much by all sides, even by people who say they love the Lord. But my personal experience with Jesus changed my heart and life forever. There are terrible churches, but there are many good ones. My church family used to pay my rent when I was in college and bought me groceries. The love of Christ is real in some peoples hearts. I stopped being a Christian for awhile, but then I came back to my relationship with Jesus, because it’s the only time in my life I’ve ever experienced true love, peace and fearless heart was when I live my life in Gods will.

I too feel the same. I was forced into the Catholic Church. I was forced to believe in deities such as God, Jesus, and Mary, that I didn’t know anything about besides being told that they “saved” me. Speaking as an 18 year old Mexican-American: I am pulling away from this religion little by little. I do not feel a big connection to any of the 3 deities I mentioned. I do not feel close. I do however feel that someday I’ll come back, since I do feel some pull to Mary specifically, but for now I do not like feeling this way. I’ve been praying to my ancestors and the universe as a whole nowadays. I’ve been attracted to herbs and stuff like palo santo, incense, etc. I was born into this type of stuff since I am Mexican. I see it everywhere. I like it. Only the positive stuff though. Never the black stuff. I hope I can find some peace within myself someday. I hope God forgives me.

As a black woman who practice the art of witchcraft I have never felt more validated. My ancestors are West African and Nigerian. Good on them to be honest. As an atheist I have no problem with spirituality or even believing in God or gods or entities, I just have a problem with organised religion and the bigotry it spreads. The harm it puts upon people in and out of the religion. The effect Christianity alone has on pushing oppression and hatred, within and without politics and law, is disgusting. The part that I find astonishing is every religion and every spiritual practices all have bits and pieces that all intertwine. First of all, to think that everything your ancestors did was good is crazy. There were lots of practices some of our ancestors did were evil. What does it mean to be spiritual anyway? Is it a feeling? Is it another realm? Are there spiritual beings? There are so many things we do not know about the world/universe. If you tap into certain practices without complete understanding of what we are doing is dangerous. Some of the women in this article said they don’t follow rules. There are laws not rules that need to be obeyed, just as laws of physic. Be careful of who spirit or energy you connect with. There is a such thing as good and evil/positive and negative. Again, just because something is ancestral doesn’t make it good, nor does it make it bad. Just understand what you are connecting to before you do it. You can become to negative energy and it can destroy you and people around you.
I’m not on the same path as them, I’m white and Norse Pagan, I 100% respect anyone finding the old ways and getting involved. I went to a gathering not to long ago (group holiday) and we had one black guy who involved some of his ancestral beliefs. I don’t recall exactly which though, he was a great guy. As a woman who walks with Jesus, the first woman, most likely her upbringing was toxic. Jesus is not toxic. Although I still struggle with the devil from temptation to acts of violence toward myself, I talk to Jesus and He will always be my best friend. The answered prayers from years ago were worth waiting for. I continued to believe. My story is mainly about my time with the devil but now I’m changing it to my time with Jesus. Christianity can be toxic because of the individual, not the truth. PEOPLE will try to mix things because they want CONTROL. I don’t listen to others, I listen to what Jesus has to say to me in 2021 and so on. Jesus speaks to my heart and I feel comforted after satanic attacks. The youth have to understand that Christianity today is very toxic, but God and Jesus are pure love. Your mind can be twisted by twisted Christianity and expect a miracle because your expectations are twisted. That’s why your miracles never come. Simply ask for Jesus to come into your life. No matter who you are, YOU ARE LOVED. Do NOT listen to twisted Christianity. Find the truth.

If you ever knew who Jesus truly was you’d never leave him. And he’d never leave you. Only time that would happen is when you refuse his love n guidance. Then you’re handed over to a reprobate mind. Some people have been brought up in the wrong ” churches” with no true biblical understanding. You have to hold yourself accountable n transparent to God for yourself. Working etc.. for the Lord is not necessarily communing with him. It’s alot of busy work. Keep seeking for truth in all you do n you will find it. Never look for empowerment, esteem, or Prosperity separate from the Lord you will go to a dark place. Remember there’s the temporal and then there’s eternal. Just because it works doesn’t make it right it just makes it more deceptive those spirits will turn on you for sure.
As someone who has met and have had real encounters with the devil trust me when I say this isn’t something to be curious over and be a path you take in life because once you invite them;they NEVER leave! Even if you chase them away;they will ALWAYS hang around. This was and still not an experience I am proud of..I’ve been to their caves where they pray and chant and read their books and where they make curses. It was a horrifying sight and I didn’t know how I walked into their cave..Most often when I’m in prayer I can see what’s really going on.To the point now I no longer listen to music any type of music I no longer listen to and I am very careful for what I watch even while perusal this article I have to ignore the images and symbols of witchcraft,I had nightmares for a whole month because I was researching witchcraft and also what I expose my eyes to because my spirit has become more sensitive over the years and I can hear words or unnatural sounds from behind the music.You might think it’s harmless but trust me it’s not You’ve just sell your entire bloodline to an allegiance with dark forces.The devil does not give anything for free,there’s always a price to pay. Jesus came to save the lost and He loves you so much that He gave up His LIFE so that you could be free from anything that could hinder you from living a victorious God filled life. I also pray that all those who are looking just to experience something realize that all forms of evil spirituality are really being lead by the evil one who steals, kills, and destroys. With the real love of Jesus in your life, all that witchcraft could give you pales in comparison. The sad thing is many do not find out until it is too late that when they were chanting spells, casting hexes, and falling into deep depravities that they have allowed demons to wreak havoc in their spirits, bodies, and lives; destroying them from the inside in a way that they can not comprehend. Many witches came to my college trying to lure me away from Jesus, me and over 1000 of my fellow Christians said No. articles like this one highlight the few that got temporarily lost. Jesus will seek those that which are lost and draw them back to unto Himself.

while people are trying to be connected to their ancestors, I’m praying that “TMH” break the bands of wickedness my ancestors created that has caused generations in my family to live under the curse. I prayed and pleaded for Jesus to physically come be with me. He didn’t physically appear, but He spoke to me and held me in His Arms. As an adult, my son and I were dying during childbirth. By the grace of God, we both lived. I was in a seriously bad way. That night He sent an Angel into my room. That Angel spent the entire night. It is better to never have known about God, then to have known and rejected Him.
It’s ironic how most black people who go back to their roots of spirituality don’t force it on others and say if you believe in something else you’re a demon and it’s wrong. I wonder why all Abrahamic religions like Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam, all like to oppress women and force others to believe in their standards, and looks at others as inferior to them. This is so sad to see happening. A lot of people expect Jesus to fix all their problems/wants in a blink of an eye. You can’t just treat him like a magic genie. When your prayers aren’t being answered, you have to ask yourself why. For a long time when I was younger, I’d get so frustrated with why Jesus let things happen to me. It wasn’t until I realized I wasn’t building a real relationship with Christ that I started to see a change in me. The real talk is asking for truth…real truth. Not societal version of truth. God’s truth. And asking for God to show up and show you truth. 2 chron. 15:2 “And He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the LORD is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” You have to seek Him with all your heart and seek Him diligently.
Setting up an altar is done to conjure spirits. The young woman is not bringing up her ancestors, they are familiar spirits who know her bloodline and masquerade as her dead family members. What I heard that was interesting is that the ladies don’t believe in rules because of the spiritual trauma they’ve experienced in their childhood religions. Religion that has rules like Catholicism which didn’t come around until the 4th or 5th centuries (or later), isn’t true Christianity. Yes they use the same language but they’re not true Christianity. That’s just the religion they’re parents were in. Same with me, I was raised in religion. Now I’m FREE in Christ because I submitted to Him and He fulfilled the law so we aren’t in bondage. We have God’s righteousness as our identity not an identity to a religion. Witchcraft / divinations is also religion. A very old one and one with rules.

Like, my grandma was praying to God when we called her due to this tornado forming by us while we were stuck at a red light in our car. After she prayed the sun shone and the tornado disappeared. My family is HEAVILY religious. And sometimes when praying it has worked but not for the things I honestly needed: my mom’s seizures to stop, my dad’s neck to heal, my family to move to a much bigger home with more than 2 bedrooms/bathrooms, and for my family to not get covid. I’m told it’s either cause I gotta learn a lesson, a test, or it’s a punishment. I’m sick of these lessons and tests. I seem to fail them so many times. I’m literally consdiering death. I just don’t know what to do anymore. If I leave, bad things happen. If I stay, bad things still happen. It’s told only those close to God can get help and their prayers will be heard. But my mom and dad are! Yet their prayers seem to be taking forever. My other family is rich while mine is stuck living in a old down apartment with barely any money to keep our car. What should I do? Risk leaving this religion, or join a religion and be seen as a monster to my family?
Its hard to have a topic like this opened without people trying to defend their religion. And that’s the problem. If an individual finds that a religion does not work for them in whatever way then they should do whatever the hell they want to do because its their life. If you believe in a certain religion and that religion tells you how you were created etc – then that is in your own belief system and in your own truth. It does not make it a universal truth or a fact at all. So there is no need to force others to believe what you believe or judge them based on your own belief system. So for example most Christians have no idea where their bible comes from. They have no idea also that the person they call Jesus was never called that at all and he had a different name. There are 1000’s of irrational examples in the bible itself yet people will believe it because they have been conditioned to do so. If one was truly to understand the teachings of the person they call Jesus and what he really was, they would understand that the current formation of an organised religion as Christianity is not even necessary as the teachings or scriptures do not imply any of this. A pastor, a congregation, the manner of prayer, the choir, the hymns sung are all man-made.

The use of crystals, sage, etc; are all a part of New Age Mysticism which is just another form of organized religion (religion organized like a business) I wonder how much all of that sage, crystals, candles cost, I’m willing to bet they’re not cheap. Also, new age mysticism is just dead European spiritualism repackaged as something new. That means, most abandoned the practice and converted to Christianity fifteen centuries ago. Catholicism is the version of Christianity appropriated by the Romans. That’s why we have the Bible, there are no rules if you know how to read. There is nothing less toxic than “love your neighbor as you love yourself”.
The fact that so many Christians think following Jesus means just getting things that you want shows a massive misunderstanding of what Christianity even is. So many churches (most, even) do not even teach history of Christianity or theology beyond reading the Bible. No wonder so many people us left when we never even understood what we were doing in the first place. Christianity is about far more than the Bible – the Bible is simply a compilation of scriptures. There is so much more in the original church teaching and practices that many Christians themselves aren’t even aware of.
I practice bc I finally became a believer. Unlike Christianity, I can help decide my fate. I no longer have to turn the other cheek, I can fight back without going to jail. The whooping a spiritual world can give is bigger than mine and I don’t have to lift a finger. I finally started to heal bc other religions didn’t and never have suited me. I didn’t seek this out, somehow it sought after me! The more i practiced, praying, lighting candles and customs are somewhat simular to christianitys customs.

That’s sad. When people are in a religion thinking that’s a relationship with Jesus. And they blame Jesus that he wasn’t there when they are worshiping a religion. You were not a Christian if you know Jesus and you leave Him. To know His truth and to actually reading His word you would not be deceived by the destroyer.
