Conspiracy theories about the death of Adolf Hitler, dictator of Germany from 1933 to 1945, contradict the accepted fact that he committed suicide in his Führerbunker on 30 April 1945. Most of these theories stem from a campaign of Soviet disinformation, which claim that Hitler and his wife, Eva Braun, survived and committed suicide. French scientists analyzed fragments of Hitler’s teeth to prove that he died in 1945, after taking cyanide and shooting himself in the head.
A film alleges that Hitler died in Argentina alone, poor, and mentally ill on February 13, 1962, at the age of 73 after suffering a heart attack, leaving behind his estranged wife. However, given the overwhelming and incontrovertible evidence for Hitler’s death, many people appeared to believe he survived due to conspiracy. It was there that SS soldiers set fire to the remains of Hitler and those of his longtime mistress-turned-wife, Eva Braun.
The majority of historians believe that Hitler committed suicide in his Berlin bunker, and a study published in the European Journal of Science published on Friday in the European Journal of Science confirms that Adolf Hitler definitely died in 1945 in Berlin, from taking cyanide and a bullet, according to French researchers who were given rare access to Hitler’s remains.
This chapter explores post-war survival rumours surrounding Adolf Hitler and questions the social purpose of supposed “sightings” of the former Führer. It questions whether Adolf Hitler killed himself at the end of the Second World War or if he actually escape and fleed to South America.
