How Are The Extra Magic Hours Implemented?

Extra Magic Hours are extended park hours available to Disney World guests in Orlando, Florida, either before opening or after closing for select rides and attractions. In 2020, Disney World retired their Extra Magic Hours and replaced them with two new options: Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Theme Park Hours.

Early Theme Park Entry began on September 26th, with all Disney resort-hotel guests eligible. There are up to 16 extra theme park hours available each week, exclusively for guests of the 24 Walt Disney parks. The evening Extra Magic Hours program allows Disney resort guests to enjoy a different theme park on specified nights for about 2 hours after it closes to the general public. Guests pay no additional charge to participate but must scan their MagicBands at each ride or attraction they wish to experience.

Early Entry officially begins 30 minutes prior to the official park opening time, for every park, every day, for all registered guests of Disney. Resort reservations are linked to your MagicBands through your My Disney Experience account, and during Extra Magic Hours, you must scan your MagicBand or card to verify that you are a resort guest.

Extended Evening Hours occur for two hours after park close on select nights, similar to the Extra Magic Hours benefit of the past. Both types of extra hours require valid theme park passes. Extended Evening Theme Park Hours is usually offered after regular park closing on Monday nights at EPCOT and Wednesday nights at Magic Kingdom. They enforce this by having everyone enter through the FP lines or having an actual CM with a valid Resort ID at each attraction.

Extended Evening Hours will be available at no extra cost to guests of Deluxe Disney hotels and DVC resorts (along with select partner resorts).

How do they know if you have Extra Magic Hours?

The MagicBand is a feature that allows guests to enter the park during Extra Magic Hours by scanning their MagicBand through their My Disney Experience account. Guests staying at the Swan and Dolphin or Shades of Green, which also offer the Extra Magic Hours benefit, must also show their resort ID. If you don’t have a valid resort reservation linked to the MagicBand, you won’t be able to enter the park. The Disney Parks Moms Panel is always happy to help with any questions you may have about your Walt Disney World vacation.

Does Genie+ work during Extra Magic Hours?

Disney Genie+ Service currently operates during regular park hours, excluding Lightning Lane return times during Disney After Hours events. However, Disney After Hours offers shorter standby wait times for popular attractions, such as TRON Lightcycle/Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which will have shorter lines an hour or two into the event. To enjoy the event, queue up for TRON Lightcycle/Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in the second half of the night.

Spend the early part of the evening in Frontierland and Adventureland before heading to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Arriving before Magic Kingdom Park closes allows for Happily Ever After and Disney Enchantment fireworks on the same night. If you have any questions or suggestions for future Disney After Hours, feel free to contact planDisney.

How busy are Extra Magic Hours?

During Extra Magic Hour (EMH) at Disney World, the Magic Kingdom and Studios tend to have more crowded crowds than Epcot. During summer, lines at headliner attractions can be long at midnight. To enjoy the evening EMH, it is recommended to stay until the end of the hour, as lines may not diminish until the last 30-60 minutes. Visitors must show their valid resort room key before entering the queue for an attraction, and park admission is required to enter a theme park during EMH.

Epcot’s EMH extends the closing time to 11 p. m. or midnight most nights of the year, allowing guests to stay up late. Guests are spread among a few open attractions. Evening Extra Magic Hours at Animal Kingdom were discontinued in Spring 2011 and are no longer offered. Food offerings may be limited during EMH Evenings, so it is important to consider this when planning dining. FASTPASS is not available during EMH Evenings except during the busiest times of the year.

How do extended hours work at Disney?

Disney resort guests can enjoy evening Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios for about 2 hours after the park closes to the public. They pay no additional fee but must scan their MagicBands at each ride or attraction they wish to experience. The Park Hopper feature on admission tickets is required for entry. Evening sessions are usually more crowded at the Magic Kingdom and the Studios than at Epcot, and lines at headliner attractions can still be long at midnight during summer. Guests should be prepared to pay extra for entry and use the Park Hopper feature on their admission ticket.

Has anyone been denied DAS at Disney?

Disney’s Disability Access Services (DAS Defenders) have shared examples of individuals who have been denied DAS passes due to their disabilities. These include a military veteran with PTSD, a woman with stage four breast cancer, a woman with accessibility passes at Universal and Seaworld, and a child with no kidneys, neuropathy in his feet, and a seizure disorder. The DAS Defenders argue that Disney should not exclude disabled individuals from the system, as punishing disabled individuals for the actions of able-bodied individuals is not a solution and only further harms the disabled community.

How many hours do magic bands last?

The MagicBand+ is a Disney product that requires a full charge of at least 90 minutes. It loses battery at different rates based on usage, with the Batuu Bounty Hunters game being the biggest drain. The MagicBand+ batteries last between 90 minutes and 3 hours while playing the game. Disney claims the MagicBand+ will last 1-3 days. A recent test on a standard Apple wall outlet charger showed a slow pulsing red on only a quarter of the center “puck” ring, indicating a low charge. It is recommended to charge the MagicBand+ past this point before going to theme parks. The MagicBand+ is considered dead when it no longer connects to the My Disney Experience app via Bluetooth.

Can you use DAS during Extra Magic Hours?

Disability Access Service (DAS) can be used at various events, including Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Jollywood Nights, and Disney After Hours. Characters like Jack Skellington and Sally offer DAS during these events, but the setup is different from Meet and Greets during regular park hours. If a character meets at a location with a Lightning Lane, DAS return times can be made in the app during these events. For example, Jack Skellington and Sally meet at Town Square Theater, which has a Lightning Lane.

Does anxiety qualify for Disney DAS?

Disney World offers a Disability Access Service (DAS) Pass for guests with cognitive conditions that make waiting in line for extended periods difficult. Common conditions approved for DAS Pass include ADHD, autism, and anxiety. Guests should use their discretion when deciding whether to get a DAS Pass for themselves or a loved one. DAS Passes are valid for up to 240 days after registration and are only valid at one Disney Resort.

If guests visit Disney World and then travel to Disneyland within the same timeframe, they will need to reapply for DAS at Disneyland. DAS Passes are valid for up to 240 days after registration, and guests should consider factors such as heat, sun exposure, and confined spaces when applying for a DAS Pass.

Do pop century guests get Extra Magic Hours?

As a Disney’s Pop Century Resort guest, Marsha, you can enjoy Walt Disney World’s theme parks 30 minutes before other guests with Early Theme Park Entry. This allows you to enjoy popular attractions with less wait time, such as the Slinky Dog Dash. The Hours and Events Calendar lists the times for each theme park’s Early Theme Park Entry. Additionally, guests can access the Disney Skyliner, an aerial gondola system connecting Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, from an hour before early entry begins to 90 minutes after they close. Although there may be a line to board, Cast Members are efficient and the line moves quickly. Marsha, I hope this information is helpful and encourages you to visit planDisney in the future.

Who has access to Extra Magic Hours?

Disney World offers Extended Evening Hours for guests staying at various resorts, including Disney World Deluxe Resorts, Deluxe Villa Resorts, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green. The participating hotels include Disney Deluxe Resorts, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club Resort, BoardWalk Inn, Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Polynesian Village Resort, Wilderness Lodge, and Yacht Club Resort.

What happens if you miss your Genie+ time?

It should be noted that Genie+ access is limited to one per attraction. Therefore, should one wish to modify or cancel a reservation in order to change their arrival time, this must be done in accordance with the relevant instructions. In the event that the allotted window is missed and the requisite cancellation or modification is not carried out, it will not be possible to make a subsequent reservation.

  • The 30 minutes or less policies were pretty much nixed years ago before I ever started delivery. I worked for Dominos over 20 years ago and they barred that policy due to the number of accidents, tickets, and reckless driving tactics that drivers used. This was a huge public safety issue to the driver, customers, and most importantly the stores that had to cover charges due to claims filed on them because of the drivers. Some places may offer it in certain circumstances but overall it’s a policy that has long been deleted.

  • Planet Fitness might be ridiculous but I actually agree with the no dropping weights rule. If you can’t put it down, you probably shouldn’t pick it up. & Startling other gym goers who are lifting heavy weight too could result in a disaster if they arent expecting a weight to shake the floor they’re standing on.

  • What you apparently missed on the Pizza Hut 30 minute policy is in the second to last sentence. When the employee told you 45 minutes delivery time, that negated the 30 minute policy. On top of that, Pizza Hut and Dominoes stopped promoting doing the 30 minutes or it’s free back in the late 80s, very early 90s, because too many delivery drivers were getting in/causing accidents and being pulled over because they were speeding and ignoring traffic safety in an effort to beat the 30 minute limit Oh, and i think someone snitched on you dropping the weights at Planet Fitness. It didn’t go off until that guy in the background left the shot

  • if you read the print on the 30 minutes delivery they absolutely followed the policy, it has a line about operating conditions, and the road being blocked off falls into that…plus she was a door dash driver not even a pizza hut employee, so you trying to take the pizza from her for free would actually be screwing her not pizza hut, because the way doordash is set up with cash orders

  • Former Subway employee here, so with the pizza, you didn’t get exactly what the policy was talking about, in fact flatbread from what I know is always available and every location. What the policy is talking about is actually a full on round mini pizza where the sauce and cheese is already put on and it’s wrapped up. We cut it open, put whatever ingredients you choose on it, put on some extra mozzarella cheese, and bake it. Must say they’re quite good, and if you get a chance to try one, please take the opportunity!!

  • I was shocked at the part where you said you had to reach 100k subs 😮 This article was recommended to me and while perusal I had no idea you had “just” 100k subs. I thought I was perusal a website with a couple million. You have talent and a HUGE potential! I can already see your website hit a million in 1 or 2 years max. I’ll come back to this comment in December 2025, God willing, and see the milestone. You got a new sub of course! Keep up the good work and please remember me when you’ll hit the 7 figures milestone!! 💪🏻

  • He needs to read the fine print. Office Depot says they don’t do price match for “location specific offers.” I’d say that fake invoice would count as location specific. Also they don’t do it for price errors. So if you got lucky and saw the same computer online at Best Buy for $20 they most likely won’t price match it and call it an error. Obviously it’s meant to get a discount and not take off most of the item’s price.

  • I am a 44 year old guy that usually hates these kind of articles. Not that I am some old prude but I am sick of these young kids acting like jerks in public for views. However you got a bright future ahead of you young man. You did it without crossing any serious lines, plenty of laughs and interest and what I liked and respected the most was that you didn’t pull any punches calling these companies out. Stay true to yourself, always speak the truth and never be afraid to speak up and most importantly don’t hurt anyone. The sky is the limit! Good luck.

  • That first one is so funny because its a neat little syncronicity with my sister Erica and our friend Julian. My sister is a artist herself who has a small business, Meowloafs (that’s her art name on all social media) and is always having stickers made for the packaging she sends orders out in and to sell, while Julian is looking to open his Japanese Snack & Flower shop, and has a ton of stickers for occasions just like this one. His rule is “If someone is nice, I will offer them one of my stickers”. It’s also super cheap, simple and smart business sense too. His business is Happy Hana PDX. 🙂 And my local Pizza Hut does actually follow that policy of over 30 minutes and it’s free. At least at last check. It’s likely store to store, manager to manager. Technically wearing flip flops is a loophole, because flip flops/thongs are not sandals. That’s a fact apparently most do not know. Even the definition of sandals clearly shows how flip flops are not sandals. Sandals are what your dad wears, probably with socks because he’s a masochist. Flip flops are what the chill dude bro man things wear because we know what comfort is. lol.

  • This is actually ingenious of Office Depot: Office Depot manager could pull the ultimate Uno reverse card and buy all the same laptops from their competitor who agreed to sell it for $1. That is why no store will agree to your scheme… Could be lethal for them. Plus they would check to see if it was on sale for $1 for them if it is they buy them out if not then they wouldn’t have to price match since it wasn’t actually on sale for $1 for the general public… so either way they win, their competitor store loses and you’re still computerless. That’s a real folk of a policy they pull!

  • 3:40 you’re telling me this is not staged??? In the grey car I saw someone filming the out door shot and in that shot you sometimes see the camera inside what isn’t a small hidden GoPro. There is no way that she first of believed that pavement takes 10-15 minutes to dry, there is no way she didn’t see the cameras, there is no way she is gonna stay so happy if you just almost got her into trouble because of the order being more as half an hour, there is no way someone can have an eta of 45 minutes and make it in 15, there is no way that someone is gonna risk loosing their driving license over an order, and IF this is then real you just got her into trouble because you put her face on YouTube, her car on YouTube, her job on YouTube AND YOU POSTED EVIDENCE OF HER SPEEDING. So that might get her into trouble.

  • I remember Subway had a small frozen pizza that they would add mozzarella to and heat up in their little ovens. I never got it but I did see somebody get it once before and they said it was good. I’m assuming they don’t have it anymore since they recently discontinued their shredded mozzarella cheese as on option for subs.

  • So often you see articles of the few DoorDash delivery drivers that steal your food or fuckup your order. They’re out there giving us a bad name. It’s lovely to see a woman representing those of us who are out here trying our very best to get your food as hot and fast as possible. Sending love from Los Angeles💛💜

  • The Pizza hut policy was 100% right. You not only created “the First Barrier Point” but also caused Difficult operating conditions for said delivery. Pizza Hut got you cause you tried to play them. Clearly they’ve been thru this. Also, you forgot to mention it in the phone. The Sam Sulek clip got me tho.

  • Stores usually will only price match to a competitor or website price depending on the store’s policy, if a competitor’s price is lower and you have proof of such, or if the stores website shows a lower price then they will match, sometimes they might have to check with or get approval from the manager depending on how much the difference is, of course in the cases I described it’s assuming the listing is legitimate

  • This policy article, is like what rules I can breaking… Also that laptop price match (I’m sure they have which stores they price match, I know best buy and other stores did that and it had to be from valid big store websites they can search up)… you calling office depot frauds @15:06… more like you’re doing fraud by working with a local store to drop it to a $1… lol

  • I’m so unreasonably angry at that first one I worked in pizza for almost seven years and I can tell you right now. The “30 minutes or less” BS was conned up by Dominos, not Pizza Hut. And it was LONG FORGOTTEN because of how reckless a ton of accidents and dangers could occur from drivers being strictly told to drive fast by their bosses. It was also partially forgotten about after the Noid fiasco.

  • Stair way to Heaven, is it deeper than that? Why can’t you play a song like that is tired like that it’s because there is demonic activity in the store with the other songs and Yes Jesus is coming back and he Loves you to die for You. Jesus: I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life, no man comes unto The Father but thou Me. May God Bless You!!!

  • Here’s the real reason for the song can’t be played in stores: There’s no official ban on playing “Stairway to Heaven” in guitar stores, but it’s generally considered poor etiquette. This is due to the song’s overplayed status and the desire to avoid backlash from other guitar store patrons. The idea that “Stairway to Heaven” is banned in guitar stores originated from a joke in the 1991 movie Wayne’s World. In the movie, Wayne tries to play “Stairway to Heaven” in a guitar shop and is told to stop by a clerk. The idea is based on the fact that many people who were learning guitar in the 1980s would play “Stairway to Heaven” whenever they went into a guitar shop, which annoyed guitar shop clerks.

  • Trying to scam pizza hut is pretty low. Annoying that this sort of stuff is what is rewarded by the youtube algorithm. Especially when that delivery woman was so nice. I know you tipped her, but if she had given you the pizzas for free she would have been in deep shit with her boss. Whether it was policy or not. They would have grilled her for why she was so late with the delivery, that she lost them money. Just annoys me that people go out of there way to make other people’s lives worse, to profit off their misery for profit and content. Not a fan.

  • According to Pizza Hut’s policy that you showed at 3:25 ish, the Road Work could be considered ‘difficult operating conditions’ so I get that one. And for the Office Depot thing, you should have used some semi-legit number like for half the price or something like that- dude called you out, anyone can make a fake invoice. Even without that Policy, Guitar Center is nothing but a massive rip-off, I’m surprised they’re even still in business.

  • Not that it matters because that 30-minute policy has been discontinued for a long while; but reading it closely, there are exceptions for “first barrier point,” and “difficult operating conditions.” I would classify the construction roadblock as a difficult operating condition and possibly even a barrier (although that’s more for security guards).

  • most corporate stores will only price match with other big box corporate stores. You were never getting away with the laptop. Also you have to understand that Subway/Pizza hut may have corporate policies but some store might be owned and operated individually so they don’t have to honor corp. policies.

  • Yeah back before I did time I would source edit Firefox in Best Buy and edit the price on Amazon (sold and distributed by Amazon too) and would drop the price over $500 on expensive laptops. ON the model laptop. 💻 All they would have had to do was refresh to fix it, and half the time they would price match the price shown even though their price checking guns showed them a different price.

  • Never sign a contract with planet fitness. Me and the wife did, and we got I to a car accident and they said if we get a note from the doctor we would be able to break the contract and not pay. We’ll we got the note. They told us we still have to pay the 2 year contract till it is up. We wasn’t able to work out for almost a year and they made us pay it. It’s a shit place

  • I stopped ordering from Pizza Hut just recently cause they NEVER got the order right, it was usually cold, or at best luke warm, and they rarely responded to complaints. The few responses were like “oh, here’s 25 points and a free 2 liter soda.” …I don’t even drink sodas. lol Pizza Hut has gone down the drain. I loved them in the 80s and 90s, as a kid and teen, but now, they’re garbage. Don’t ever bother with asking for anything special cause they won’t do it. Dominoes was the same. I’d always order extra stuff, like seasoning packets and parmesan, and stuff, and they NEVER gave it to me. They even left out extra sauces that they charged me for. Garbage. Papa Johns does me right. Hope that doesn’t change.

  • If it actually still said that about 30 minutes or less on the website, you should have sued Yum! Foods, additionally filed an FTC and BBB complaint for false advertising, youtube prank or not. Their corporate expired cheese for brains should have thought about updating pizza hut’s website before changing the policy unbeknownst to consumers. As far as I’m concerned this pizza thing is scammy on Yum! Foods end.

  • I have known that Subway had pizzas for a long time. And they are actually really good, especially if you make it a normal pizza. Like say, just putting pepperoni. And some cheese, it can be really good. They do really well with them. I mean, I won’t put it up. It’s like it’s better than restaurants. That premier leave my pizza’s not that good but at the same time I keep going back and getting subway pizzas every time so it’s good enough

  • You tried to scam Office Depot and they called you out on it and you are upset and think they did something wrong. You didn’t even get the right policy. It’s any advertised item from a major brick and mortor retailer. They carved out an exception to add Amazon as a major retailer and it must be sold through Amazon. Not a third party retailer. Problem one you didn’t have an advertised price, 2 it was not a major retailer, 3 it was a scam that price never actually existed. They followed their policy to the letter. You did not. Read the fine print.

  • UPDATES & CORRECTIONS: Last reviewed on : 11 September 2024 – Disney Announced in August 2024 that Tron will operate a standby line instead of the virtual queue. – Disney recently announced a complete overhaul of it’s Lightning Lane and Disney Genie+ service, which came into place on July 24. It’s sort of a merge of the recent system with the older fastpass+ system. The Genie+ service will now be called Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and the Individual Lightning Lane Selections service will be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass. Instead of only being able to purchase and make reservations on the day, guests will now instead be able to do all this in advance of their day of visit. Resort guests will be able to plan up to 7 days in advance, for their entire trip, and non resort guests can plan up to 3 days in advance. – NEW LIGHTNING LANE MULTI PASS – you can make up to 3 lightning lane selections in a theme park in advance (and choose the times). When making the reservations, you can make one reservations from the the tier 1 list of attractions, and two selections from the tier 2 list of attractions. On the day of your visit, once you use a selection, you can check the app for availability to make an additional selection. – NEW LIGHTNING LANE SINGLE PASS – This is going to operate very similar to the lightning lane selection service, as discussed in the article, but you’ll be able to purchase passes in advance. – The wrong graphic was used to display the hotels with skyliner access (in the transportation chapter).

  • Thank you. These articles are so incredibly helpful in terms of providing an idea of what to expect. I really appreciate your time and detail in all the articles you’ve created. It’s a real gift! I’m slightly confused about the Genie+ ( get the Lightening Lane only rides, that was clear) when you purchase first thing in the morning, do you get to line up/reserve a few rides at different for that one price or do you purchase and then get one ride.

  • Just so everyone knows, Be Our Guest restaurant is not a character meal where Belle or the Beast visit the table. You can see the Beast walkthrough each room but, that is all you get with him. As for sitting, I recommend The West Wing, it is dark and it features thunder and lightning effects but, the Beast’s portrait changing during the storms is worth it.

  • I’m heading over in early May, now within the 60 day window to book dining reservations. I have been constantly getting a time out error on the Disney site and app when I’m using my iPhone or personal laptop. I have now made reservations for 4 locations but was only able to avoid the time out error by using an incognito window on my work laptop (which uses a VPN). Hopefully other UK travellers don’t encounter the same issue. Anyway, great article as usual. I’m there from April 29th to May 18th, in your experience is that a good time in terms of weather and crowd levels?

  • I find this so interesting but OMG…. with the Genie+ and Lightning Lane…….. I was exhausted when covering this. I am so sorry to anybody who will disagree with me, but the last time I went was in 2000 and WDW was so much better than this. It was a holiday where you can have fun… excitement and YES. ….. relax. Now you seem to be on your phone all day by the sound of it …. the days when you had FASTPASS was so much better and cheaper…. it was free that’s why!!!! I think Covid took the magic out of WDW as I am sure they are doing all they can to get their money back after what they had lost and this is one of the ways to do it…. Praise the lord I went during those magical years when you didn’t have a phone with you at all time and tearing your hear out if you can’t get your place for the queue lines …. as it now sounds like joining the army than an enjoyable time at this once magical land. Sorry to upset anyone but the magic HAS gone for me!
