To register an instrument with X-Rite, customers need to log into their “My X-Rite” account and click on the “Register New Device” button. This will open a registration wizard where the instrument’s serial number and registration code are displayed. If the customer does not have an internet connection, they can click on “Manual activation”. The registration code is displayed along with the instrument’s serial number, firmware version, and other relevant information.
To obtain an activation code (also known as a license key), visit the registration page and provide the registration software with accurate product information. To find the registration key for ColorShop X or MonacoQCcolor, users can access it from the main registration screen (Windows; File > Register or on a Mac).
To get started with My X-Rite, customers must log in or create an account at my.xrite.com, select “Register New Device”, and enter the serial number for their device. They can also view software/firmware downloads, find support case information, and manage devices, track orders, view invoices, and monitor/service support tickets in one convenient place.
When calling X-Rite, customers must provide the serial number and registration code from the registration window. Once registered, they can log in using their X-Rite credentials. If the user does not have internet access on their computer, they must right-click the icon and choose “Run as Adminastrator”.
In case of issues with the registration box in X-RiteColor Master, customers should check the eXact registration and verify the device registration. The AUI number, serial number, and registration number can be found by checking the cover of the plastic case in which the installation CD is stored.

Love the detail in your articles, the whole website is incredibly helpful. This is slightly off-topic but what’s your experience with getting a spectrophotometer recertified and calibrated? How important is that for accurate calibrations? I have an i1Basic Pro 2 that must be 5-10 years old. The certificate it came with says X-Rite recommends recalibration every 12 months and they quoted $700 for the service. What’s your experience, does recalibration make a big difference on an old device like this?
Awesome 👍. But will the software work with old SW2700PT MFG Jan 2020 ? I think there should have been a key number to manually link software with hardware. For me where i live we don’t have good network yet. And i have doubt too. Do we need to pay again if my both PC and laptop is completed formatted. Does the online registration needs to sign in to calibrite site before this process ?
I updated the license for my X-Rite ColorMunki Display, but I can no longer profile my projector: it always tells me that the sensor is not aligned to the center, despite having tried to move it in all directions without ever going beyond 1 .5 times the height of the screen as indicated in the instructions. Obviously I wrote to support, but they don’t respond. Furthermore, I have to force exit from the program every time, as it is not possible to exit regularly: perhaps the update does not include the use of the device with projectors? How to proceed to request a refund of the amount paid for the purchase of the license?
I just upgraded my i1DisplayPro tonight to use the Calibrite profiler but it cant make any measurements. It works fine on the old Xrite profiler so I know its not broken. Also the calibrite profiler sees the device and can detect the ambient cover but just cant measure any light. I even uninstalled the older Xrite software in case there was a conflict. Nothing I do will make it work. Should I try re-installing the calibrite profiler? Any other idea?
Hello, i have an xrite i1 display pro, but when i plug it in, the calibrite profiler app shows me an error message : “Invalid Device Serial Number”. When i try to register manualy the device, in Serial number i can’t write it, whatever letter i type it corrects it as “I1-“, and i can’t type anything more. I tried uninstalling the app over and over again, checked the app version, but it doesn’t change the outcome. I need your halp please, thanks
I am using the X Rite i1 Display pro plus with Benq PMU for the SW270C. Is this license upgrade absolutely necessary? After upgrade, will PMU show my XRite unit as a Calibrite unit? What happens if I do not upgrade and continue to use my device with PMU? Please share your thoughts on the above queries … Thanks again for a wonderful article.
I just did what is in this article, but when i did a photo edit in photoshop as i like, but when i saved it in jpg, the image i just edited was horrible… (even though it was fine inside photoshop) the saved photo file i so wrong in everything..the colors and brightness are worse than u un-calibearated…. Tell me whalt to do…
Under Preferences, what technology type do I use for a MacBook Pro? The booklet that comes with ColorMunki is far from informative. Very scarce in explaining settings. It mentions nothing about first setting your preferences like this article suggests. When I contacted X-Rite, after measuring for Ambient lighting, I was told not to use that setting at all…For first time novice users, the booklet tells us to use the Easy setup, yet X-Rite tells me to use Advanced. Very disappointed at the fishing for answers I’ve had to do with their “simple” set-up.
I cannot finish my calibration of my iMac with the ColorMunki Display Calibrator. It gets to the SAVE part, then gives me an error message that there was a problem with measurement (and won’t go to the next page). It says click “OK” then go to “Try Again”, which I’ve done, countless times. It won’t go past this error message and save the profile. I see no FAQ online to remedy this. help?
