How Come The Roman Rite Is So Basic?

The Roman Rite is a liturgical rite used in the Diocese of Rome, Italy, and is the most widely-used in Christendom. It is known for its sobriety of expression and formality, with the Tridentine form being minutely prescribed by the Tridentine Missal. The original Roman Rite was plain, simple, and practical, with characteristics such as soberness and sense.

The Roman Rite originated in Rome, Italy, where Christianity first flourished and the apostles first preached. It governs rites such as the Roman Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours, as well as the manner in which sacraments and blessings are performed. The Roman Rite is the body of mostly liturgical traditions that originated in the local church (diocese and province) of Rome, Italy.

The Roman Rite, along with its Eastern counterparts, has its origins where Christianity first flourished and the apostles first preached. Traditional liturgy is not linear, discursive, and modular but circular, intuitive, and organic. One characteristic feature of the ancient Roman Rite was its solemn prayers, each beginning with a bidding by priest or bishop.

The Roman Rite is the liturgical rite used in the Diocese of Rome in the Catholic Church and is by far the most widespread of the Latin liturgical rites. The Catechism uses the terms “Latin Rite” (6 times) and “Roman Rite” (7 times) nearly equally when speaking of the worship of the Latin Church.

Does the Catholic Church still have last rites?

The last rites, including penance, viaticum, and anointing of the sick, are not eliminated by Catholics. These sacraments, which are meant to signify Christ’s presence, should be administered when the recipient is aware and able to benefit most. Anointing is given only to the living, as it signifies the person’s meeting Christ face-to-face after death. However, as per Canon No. 1005 in the Code of Canon Law, the sacrament of anointing may still be administered if there is doubt as to whether death has occurred.

Why doesn’t the pope like Latin mass?

Francis defended the spread of the Tridentine Mass, claiming it had divided the church and exploited Catholics against the Second Vatican Council and modernization of the church. Roche’s office later clarified that celebrating some sacraments according to the old rite was forbidden. The new decree, signed off by Francis, does not further restrict the celebration but repeats what was previously declared. The decree’s insistence on Roche’s authority aimed to dispel traditionalist claims that the cardinal had exceeded his mandate.

Is the Novus Ordo the Roman Rite?

Pope Benedict XVI categorized the Mass into two forms: the Novus Ordo, the ordinary form of the Roman Rite, and the extraordinary Latin Mass, both valid and celebrated by any qualified priest. The Vatican II Council Fathers and Pope Paul VI aimed to simplify the liturgy for laypeople, with the Novus Ordo maintaining the Traditional Latin Mass structure but simplifying language. This was reflected in the Apostolic Constitution issued by Pope Paul VI.

What is the difference between Latin rite and Roman Rite?

The Roman Rite is the liturgical rite used in the Diocese of Rome in the Catholic Church, and is the most widespread of the Latin liturgical rites within the Western or Latin autonomous particular Church. The Roman Rite has grown and been adapted over the centuries, with its Eucharistic liturgy divided into three stages: Pre-Tridentine, Tridentine, and Post-Tridentine. Pope Benedict XIV approved the continued use of the Tridentine Mass, as found in the 1962 Roman Missal, under certain limits, as an extraordinary form of the Roman Rite under certain conditions in the document Summorum Pontificum. This document can be found in several books and can be translated into English.

What is the Roman Catholic Church simple?

The Catholic Church, also known as the Roman Catholic Church, is the largest Christian denomination with 1. 2 billion members worldwide. Its name comes from the Greek word katholikos, meaning universal, and its foundations are in Rome, where the tombs of St Peter and St Paul are located. Christianity spread through the Roman empire, and Emperor Constantine converted to the faith in the early 300s, ending persecution of Christians. The Pope, the leader of the Catholic Church, is also the Bishop of Rome.

Catholics believe in Jesus Christ as both God and man, and in the Trinity, which represents God as creator, redeemer, and sustainer. These tenets are expressed in the Nicene Creed and the Catechism of the Catholic Faith. The church’s teachings are also found in its canon law, which covers various aspects of the faith, such as bishop selection, marriage, annulments, and baptisms. The Second Vatican Council’s documents have significantly shaped the modern church.

What is the extraordinary form of the Roman rite?

The Traditional Latin Mass, also known as the Usus Antiquior or Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, is the liturgy of the Catholic Church that was widely used before the introduction of the New Order of Mass in 1969. It includes the Mass, sacraments, and various rites of blessing. Pope Benedict XVI declared that the older form of the Roman rite was never abrogated and should be given due honor for its venerable and ancient usage.

This older form has been at the heart of the Church and Western culture for centuries, nourishing countless generations and influencing even secular societies with its holy days and feast days. It was carried by missionaries to the Americas, Africa, and Asia.

What is the Roman Rite?

The Roman Rite is a widely-used method for celebrating the Holy Sacrifice, administering sacraments, reciting the Divine Office, and performing other ecclesiastical functions in the city and Diocese of Rome. It is the most widespread in Christendom due to its advantages such as archaic antiquity, dignity, beauty, and practical convenience. However, its extensive use was not due to its advantages but rather the exalted position of the see. The Roman Rite was adopted throughout the West by local bishops, sometimes kings or emperors, who believed they could not do better than use the rite of the chief bishop of all, Rome.

This imitation of Roman liturgical practice led to the application of the principle that rite should follow patriarchate in the West. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Church Fathers, Summa, Bible, and more are available for download for $19. 99.

What are 5 basic beliefs of Roman Catholicism?

The Roman Catholic Church requires parents and godparents of infants to recite the Apostles’ Creed as a sign of acceptance of the church’s basic doctrines. The creed proclaims belief in the Holy Trinity, the Incarnation, Passion, and Resurrection of Christ, the Second Coming and Last Judgment of Christ, the remission of sins, the church, and eternal life. The early Church Fathers made the creed the basis of baptismal homilies given to catechumens, which went beyond the bare articles of the creed.

The Roman Catholic faith incorporates the books of the Hebrew Bible, which derive its belief in original sin, a hereditary and universal moral defect of human beings. This doctrine explains the human condition as caused by human nature, not divine failure. Humankind can be delivered from its debased condition only by a saving act of God—the death and Resurrection of Jesus. The saving act of Jesus introduces grace, which in Roman Catholic belief signifies both the love of God and the effect produced in human beings by his love.

The response of believers to the presence of grace is the three theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity, which enable them to live the Christian life. Human beings are introduced to grace and initiated into the church by baptism, and the life of grace is sustained in the church through sacraments.

What is the difference between the Roman Rite and the Maronite Rite?

The Maronites are a religious group that identifies with Roman Catholicism. They practice a distinct rite, which is separate from the Roman Rite. This rite allows them to preserve their own liturgy, spiritual heritage, and ecclesiastical structure. At the same time, they acknowledge the Pope as the head of the Church.

The Greek Liturgy of St. James is the oldest and original of the Antiochene liturgies, which are part of the Antiochian Rite, a family of liturgies used by the patriarch of Antioch. The Apostolic Constitutions is the primary source for the history of the Antiochene Rite, which contains two liturgical outlines and the oldest known complete liturgy. All Antiochene liturgies follow the same basic structure, including Syriac, Palestinian, and Byzantine liturgies, with key constants.

  • Please talk more about your time at Clear Creek and your experience with Benedictine spirituality. It seems quite complicated to live out a Benedictine vocation in the Orthodox Church when there is only one monastery, and it isn’t cloistered. I also 100% agree that the Western Rite doesn’t fully feel ‘Western’ and needs to be de-Anglicanized and de-Byzantinized.

  • As someone who started my Orthodox journey as a staunch WR supporter, I no longer support the movement. I have many reasons for this, but one reason is because I have learned to look deeper in western heritage. Before we were eastern and western, we were all Roman Christians. And as it turns out, before the developments of the late middle ages and Renaissance, western Churches were quite close in style and character to “eastern” Orthodox Churches today. Much of what people consider “western” style is relatively recent developments. Thus I find a more connection to my western heritage, and most importantly, to my ancient Christian heritage in an “eastern” Orthodox Church

  • I think your reference of Jesus travelling through Palestine is not historically accurate. Jesus traveled through Judea, also known as the land of Canaan. The people in this area called Philistines originated as an immigrant group from the Aegean (Greece) that settled in Canaan. The land was renamed in 132-136 CE, by the Roman emperor Hadrian to Syria-Palaestina, the Jews traditional enemies, as punishment for the Jews insurrection at that time.

  • 2:43 Already had a reputation as a political and religious agitator, especially among the Romans. Where do they get this? Mk.15:10 indicates that Pilate knew that it was from envy that the religious leaders delivered him up, and all 4 Gospels have Pilate wanting to release him because didn’t find cause for saying he was a political agitator. So the Romans knew that his agitation was religious but not political. He said “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and to what is God’s

  • Correction: John wrote John and was a disciple from the beginning.”That which we have SEEN and HEARD from the beginning” Eyewitnesses. Matthew was a tax collector(educated) disciple. Mark wrote Peters recollections around 60 AD(peter crucified 67). Luke was a doctor who interviewed eyewitnesses including Mary. Your commentary on Jesus dual nature was accurate.

  • Born again, or to experience the new birth, is a phrase, particularly in evangelicalism, that refers to a “spiritual rebirth”, or a regeneration of the human spirit. In contrast to one’s physical birth, being “born again” is distinctly and separately caused by the operation of the Holy Spirit. John 3:3

  • The Catholics attribute Jesus saying something like “upon this rock I’ll build my church”. Church in old Greek is ekklesía, which means assembly. Catholics argue that Jesus meant assembly as an institution, i.e. a permanent assembly. And also claim that Jesus mean Peter, the first Pope, to be the “rock”, as Peter comes from the old Greek Petros meaning “rock”. This is why they claim Catholicism was established by Jesus himself.

  • the Apostle Paul actually foretold when the catholic church will come into existence when he said; “I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.”

  • “The authors never claimed to know the life of the Messiah” Really? 1 John 1 That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we have gazed upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life– You do realize the man writing this letter is John himself. You know, the Apostle John… Saint John? The same John who walked and talked with Jesus for three years? Fake news. If you’re this far off base at 3 minutes in, there’s no reason to watch the rest.

  • It’s hard to by the claim that the Evangelists did not mean to provide a biographical account of Jesus’ life as they followed characteristics of biography of their time. So if their writings followed this model it would follow they meant the Gospels as biographies which were historical albeit from different perspectives meant for different audiences.

  • Very nice article! Thank you for putting together all the interesting facts. Just one thing I noticed that is not accurate. At minute marker 7:06 the narrator says that Saint Ignatius used the word, “catholic” in a letter he wrote in the year 108. The image shows Ignatius of Loyola, who was born in 1491 and died in 1556. There was a previous Saint Ignatius (of Antioch) also known as Saint Ignatius Theophorus. This one is known for his letters. The dates of his birth and death are uncertain (as well as most of his letters), but it is likely that the reference in the article corresponds to this one (Saint Ignatius of Antioch), rather than the one depicted (Saint Ignatius of Loyola), who founded the Jesuits in 1540.

  • They went out from us, but they were not of us for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. {1 John 2:19} The church that is at Babylon elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son. {1 Peter 5:13}

  • I find it odd that this “history” of how Catholicism started doesn’t even explain why the word was even used. Catholic comes from the Greek meaning “universal” and “of the whole”; The term was used to differentiate the Church from any of a number of heresies which propped up in the first few centuries. Catholics were not Gnostics, Arians, nor Donatists etc…

  • @Andrew Patton R Catholics love tales. Nowhere in the Bible says R Church = Christ’s CHurch or the Universal Church or the bride of Christ. Neither does Bible mention the office of bishop of bishops – pope. you said 1 Corinthians 1 C dividing the Church as D – M the Body of Christ. Whoever separates himself from the Pope and the Church separates himself from Christ. Christ is not a polygamist; He has no bride except the Catholic Church.

  • @catholic defence and truth seekers You keep L. 1. Exact Word Criterion is Not a proof for doctrines. The word trinity is not in the Bible but the doctrine is. Similarly Faith Alone which means Salvation Not By Works. 2. Old Catholic Bibles do show Sola Fede/Faith Alone. You were refuted right from beginning yet you kept L for 5 days. ” Catholic translators before the time of Luther had given the same translation. So in the Nuremberg Bible, 1483, “Nur durch den glauben.” And the Italian Bibles of Geneva, 1476, and of Venice, 1538, per sola fede. The Fathers also often use the expression, “man is justified by faith alone;” Swan, James. “Luther Added The Word “Alone” to Romans 3:28?”. February 05, 2006. Retrieved 29 March 2014. Hodge, Charles, Commentary on the Epistle to the Romans (New Edition), 1864, p100 Even some Catholic versions of the New Testament also translated Romans 3:28 as did Luther. The Nuremberg Bible, “allein durch den glauben” and the Italian Bibles of Geneva and of Venice say “per sola fede.” Others previous to Luther may have differed in theological interpretation, yet saw the thrust of the words implied “alone.” The Romanists, indeed, made a great outcry against that version as a gross perversion of Scripture, although Catholic translators before the time of Luther had given the same translation. So in the Nuremberg Bible, 1483, “Nur durch den glauben.” And the Italian Bibles of Geneva, 1476, and of Venice, 1538, per sola fede. The Fathers also often use the expression, “man is justified by faith alone;” so that Erasmus, De Ratione Concionandi, Lib.

  • 2:54 gives the order of the Gospels as Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. A modern theory, but the traditional order has good historical testimony, as early as Irenaeus of Lyon, a student of Polycarp of Smyrna, who was a student of the Apostle John. Can you imagine the grandchildren of soldiers of the American Revolution not knowing who wrote the Declaration of Independence or that it came before The Constitution? That is about the time gap here three generations.

  • This is exactly why people these days are brazen about starting “religious” organizations. They know eventually it will be accepted. The longer the organization lives, the more obscure it becomes to its future followers and it becomes open to “review”, the unpleasant aspects are rooted out and redacted to bring about a “good” religion. I bet when it was just a sect of Judaism, Christian followers were seen as weird and cult like. But look at it now.

  • There are plenty of early Christian writings that were not canonized from the first and second century that show the traditions existed long before Constantine. These writings supplement the canonized writings that became the New Testament, but were not seen as inspired writing until the second century. Book of Acts lays out the formation of the church and it was written long before Constantine.

  • @Andrew Patton R Catholics love to tw Scriptures. James was addressing Jewish Christians who were already saved. He was addressing their Practical Christian Living. Salvation is Not By Works (Faith Alone). Christian Living is by Works (Not Faith Alone) you said The only place in the Bible “faith alone” is written is in James, with a “not” in front of it.

  • According to Edward Gibbons, The Rise and Fall of The Roman Empire, after Constantine had his Vision of The Cross which inspired his army to victory, and he won the civil war and became emperor, he decreed that Christianity be legalized. But the old Roman ways were still common, and the magistrates were powerful: they were keepers of the temples, which had been temples to the gods, Jupiter and Mars and all those guys,. Magistrates (magi = wise, powerful) were municipal officers, performed weddings, funerals, all that AND executed contracts – and collected taxes and were allowed to keep a commission, so it was a lucrative position. Under Roman law, church and state were united. The Emperor was Pontificus Maximus”, Head Dude, and his word was “divined” as inspired by the gods, and therefore became law. (USA = separation of church and state) After Constantine legalized the church, the magistrates all became Catholic bishops! so they could control the temple, and all the Roman temples, throughout the vast empire, became roman catholic churches. But they required new robes. And the Pope, The Pontiff, wears a pointy hat. That’s how. Whereas Caesar ruled by power of fear, Jesus Christ rules by power of love. “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesars and render unto God that which is God’s”.

  • @Quirico mazarin Yes based on self claims of R Church. R Church also claimed Peter was in Rome for 25 years. All based on traditions. But based on Bible Chronology, Peter was mostly in Jerusalem. Not Rome. R Church is always wrong. you said Ignoramous….Evodious who took over as the bishop of Antioch after St.Peter went to Rome ; he was one of the disciples & HE the Catholic Evodious created the word Christian…

  • First The Romans loudly despised Jesus Christ in life, Crucified him in front of his friends, family, followers, and foes then Claimed that their Church’s rules, teachings, text and beliefs were the only true, legitimate authority regarding Christianity. It’s laughable. You literally could not have written a better parody of the scripture if you tried. How Blasphemous? Lord Strike me if I ever call any man who is not my father, “father”. Forgiveness is in the scripture, yet you expect me to (repeatedly) confess my sins and ask a 40-year-old virgin for his forgiveness? PS!!! Mary… a perpetual virgn? PLEASE! Jesus had four brothers!

  • For those who would claim that Peter is the rock upon which Christ’s church was built. This is not the case and there are many in church history who would disagree with Catholics on this matter. The Greek word for Peter is petros which means a single rock or a boulder. It is not upon him that Christ’s Church was built. The Greek word for rock in this passage is petra which means a rocky foundation or bedrock and it is upon this petra that Christ builds His church. Now what is the petra that Jesus is referring to? In context, it is the confession that Peter gave “you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” It is upon this foundation, something revealed from the Father in heaven that Christ builds His church, not on a fallible and sinful man (like all of us) like Peter. The word Rock is a title God uses of Himself and it is clearly applied to Jesus (Deuteronomy 32:4, 15, 18, 32:30-31; 2 Samuel 23:3; Psalm 89:26; Isaiah 17:10; 30:29; 44:8; Habakkuk 1:12; 1 Corinthians 10:1-5; Matthew 16:18 Roman Catholicism claims that Peter was the first Pope and the office of Pope began with him. Based on Peter’s own words, we are given no indication that he was a pope or ever saw himself as the leader above all after Jesus’ ascension. 1 Peter 5:1-3 NASB Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock.

  • The Mitre hat and robe represent Dagon, which fell before the Ark of Moses as if praying to it . Jonah brought the word to the after being in the belly of the fish . Constantine’s army, power base were mostly Christian after recruiting an army crossing western Europe . You worshiped the Constantine ( Mystery influence)way or were made into a martyr. My ancestors were Huguenots. The first European settlers murdered in mass on the American continent were at Huguenot Beach because they were protestant.

  • @Stephan Terblanche Too bad. You dont even read the Bible. Romans 14 Col 2 does mention believers having disputes on doctrines. They did not believe in exactly the same things. You are wrong once again. After the Apostles, churches went independent. They had their own local councils, their own leaders, their own local canons. You see? You do not know anything. you said The churches referred to in the Bible believed the same things. They were not independent denominations that refused to have anything to do with each other. D

  • @Maria Martins I love your fairy tales. Bible says otherwise. 1. Bible speaks of R Church as the Apostate Church (counterfeit Church) to be D in the Last Days. Rev 17-18. 2. Bible does not say R Church = the Church or Universal Church. So it will not prevail. The only reason it is still around is according to what Jesus said “Weed growing alongside the wheat only to be uprooted at harvest”. Mat 13. R Church is the Weed. you said in the end all the world will be Catholic. The church will prevail

  • @Quirico mazarin Most of Ignatius writings were forgeries. In the first place all writings including this does not say R Church = the Universal Church or the Church CHrist founded. You are misled. “catholic” in all writings refers to the Universal Christian Church. Not R Catholic Church. Church has always meant all churches + all believers. Nothing to do with Church of Rome (current r Catholic Church). you said 1st post apostle historical extant writing by one of the disciples St.Ignatious of Antioch 107 A.D .

  • “And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth; it shall be bound also in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.”

  • I was raised catholic, but I started to read the bible and found out how much I was lied to for so many years. I went to the seminary in high school and we never read the bible. The things we were taught are actually not in the bible at all. I’m glad I got out of the seminary. I could never teach people this bologna.

  • @Andrew Patton Any mention of “catholic” in any writings does not refer to R Catholic Church at all. “catholic” was always applied to the Universal Christian Church. Not R Catholic Church. Most of Ignatius writings were spurious according to historians and scholars. You are using spurious writings as doctrines? you said St. Ignatius of Antioch spoke of the Catholic Church in the early 2nd century.

  • @catholic defence and truth seekers You are D by R Church. 5 sources say Salvation Not By Works (Faith Alone) is a true doctrine. Scriptures, early church and Apostles/Jesus all affirmed it. Even Old R Church believed in that in early stages. R Church started to deny them centuries later and introduced its m m doctrines of Works Salvation. Where in the Bible teaches “faith + good works + partake R sacraments + submit to R pontiff + be in R Church + devote to Mary = to be saved”?

  • Rev 2:6, 14-15 ( was the Beginnings of the Roman Catholic Church. “Nicolaity” (Power over the Laity) was the organization of Powerful Church Leaders in the 1st Centery, Dominating the Laity. Demanded the”only they (the RC church), can forgive sins, grant salvation if you followed their ‘rules’ and were the only conduit between God and people”. All of which is Condemned in Holy Writ. Thus, began Centuries of Killing people who oppose (inquisitions), absolute Kingdom power, wealth by force, and the worst…… the “leading” of Millions astray from Christ and the Holy Fathers Will for the Salvation of all who believe No offense of coarse.

  • @Maria Martins So you wrote your own Bible? Wow how wonderful. Which verse says “if you don’t eat the body and drink the blood of the son of man you will not enter the kingdom of heaven”? you said esus says if you don’t eat the body and drink the blood of the son of man you will not enter the kingdom of heaven,

  • roman catholicism began after rome adopted Christianity as state religion (thus the roman catholic church existed for probably 1700 years or less). the church then began to compromise itself with rome, by adopting non-biblical doctrines and practices and extending both it’s secular and sacred authority and power. the roman catholic church evolved further along the years adding many man-made doctrines, which were in direct contradiction to the holy bible (this is why the roman catholic church cannot accept sola scriptura). examples of later roman catholic church doctrines that were man-made include mariology (431 a.d.), purgatory (1274 a.d.), the roman catholic priesthood (12th century), the eucharist (either 11th or 15th century)and more, which are clearly not doctrines of either the 1st or 4th century Christian church.

  • Christianity was the fulfilment of Judaism because Jesus of Nazareth was the Christ, the Messiah Who was to come to save the Human Race Universally (Jews & Gentiles). (Catholicism was the Religion of Universal Salvation because GOD wills all people to be saved regardless of their ethnicities.) Cornelius the Roman Centurion was the first Gentile Christian who was the first Roman Catholic that spoke the Latin. The Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans was the testimony of the Roman Church, founded by the Apostles Peter and Paul.

  • @Enix Blue Rain Really? RUDorwhat? Your very own pope used the term R Catholic Church. The first known occurrence of “Roman Catholic” as a synonym for “Catholic Church” was in communication with the Armenian Apostolic Church in 1208, after the East–West Schism. The last official magisterial document to use “Roman Catholic Church” was issued by Pope Pius XII in 1950. you siad assuming too many things such as “Roman Catholic Church” as the official name.

  • There is nothing to dispute about the writings of the Bible. These are truly words about life and teachings of Jesus Christ and have stood the test of time . If it is not for the Will of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it could have vanished. The Catholic Church was built on the rock (Peter), one of the most trusted disciples of Jesus who, like others, believe in what he saw and witnessed and even gave their life for.

  • The issue is that 99% of Christianity today is unaware that “Gentiles” is not a real word used in the Bible text…Ethnos, in the Greek is usually translated as “nations” or “Tribes”…the thing that is problematic is that all Jews are Israelites, but not all Israelites are Jews…thus the “Gentiles” that were coming into the last days church were really non law practicing Israelites from the 10 northern tribes, or “Devout men” and not true Pagans as the Catholic community has assumed….Jesus said his return in Judgment would be in the Generation HE was living in Matt 23.35, and this was made manifest by the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in AD70…this was the end of the 1st century church, more accurately a rescue mission and not the start of a new religion.

  • The voice narrating this article is clear, interesting how The voice narrating this article is clear, interesting how he stepped away from his origin – as articles go. I found his articles quite informative then and this is a sound theoretical theory. But as always, it’s a theory – well presented. Catholiscm, as with all religion is revised by individuals with personal motive.wish all well, walk as Jesus did without judgment or motive….example.

  • Mr. Wesley had a strong opinion that Constantine deeply corrupted the church. In his sermon “Of Former Times,” Mr. Wesley said, “Constantine’s calling himself a Christian, and pouring that flood of wealth and honour on the Christian Church, the Clergy in particular, was productive of more evil to the Church than all the ten persecutions put together.” As a result, he believed, from that time “the Church and State, the kingdoms of Christ and of the world, were so strangely and unnaturally blended together, Christianity and Heathenism were so thoroughly incorporated with each other, that they will hardly ever be divided till Christ comes to reign upon earth.”

  • Just an individual claimed he knew a man used to be called Jesus who’s the Messiah, managed to convince a few individuals about it and they choose to start a religion and pulled up a book to validate their ficticious thoughts, and managed to push the religion to the entire region and the world, and here we are! Wow! I marvel at such men everyday.

  • @Andrew Patton Try reading the Bible some days. It will save UrPSoul. 1. Catholics claim CHURCH refers to Roman Catholic Church. BIBLE says CHURCH refers to all churches. Acts 5:11, Acts 8:1, Mat 16:18. HISTORY tells us Roman Church was just one local Church a member of the Pentarchy. 2. Catholics claim Roman Church was the CHURCH CHRIST founded (First Church) or one true church. BIBLE says First Local Church was Jerusalem Church. Acts 2. Not Roman Catholic Church. 3. Catholics claim there is only One Church. BIBLE mentions both CHURCH and Churches. “CHURCH” refers to the Body of Christ Eph 5:30, Col 1:18 consisting of all churches. Acts 5:11, Acts 8:1 Mat 16:18. “Churches” refers to local churches Acts 9:31, Acts 15:41 and believers Romans 16:5, 1 Cor 16:19, 4. Catholics claim to be the first believers. BIBLE says first believers were Jewish Christians. Acts 2, Acts 11:26, NOT roman catholics. 5. Catholics claim Pope is the head of the CHURCH. BIBLE says JESUS is the HEAD OF THE CHURCH. Eph 1:22, Eph 5:23, Col 1:18. 6. Catholics claim outside Roman Church there is NO SALVATION. BIBLE says “apart from Jesus there is NO SALVATION”. Acts 4:12, 1 Cor 3:11. 7. Catholics claim submit to Roman Pontiff to be saved. BIBLE says “apart from Jesus there is NO SALVATION”. Acts 4:12, 1 Cor 3:11. 8. Catholics claim devote to Mary to be saved. BIBLE says “apart from Jesus there is NO SALVATION”. Acts 4:12, 1 Cor 3:11. 9. Catholics claim partake Roman Church sacraments to be saved. BIBLE says “believe in Jesus to be saved”.

  • @Enix Blue Rain The problem is: there was no R Catholicism or Catholicism before ad 300s. So you are just proving my point: Catholicism was founded by Rome. you said WRONG. The edict by Theodosius only declared Catholic Christianity as the official state religion of the empire. It already existed way before him. Nowhere can you find any credible history book that credits Theodosius as the founder of Catholicism.

  • There were 30 Popes before Emperor Constantine arrived on the scene. After Peter, Pope Clement wrote a long epistle of theology, one of the earliest Christian writings outside the Bible, and is considered scripture by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Pope Telesphorus was mentioned as a great martyr by Irenaeus. Pope Pius I decreed that Easter should be celebrated on Sunday. Pope Soter decreed that matrimony was a sacrament. Pope Victor excommunicated Theodotus of Byzantium over the Quartodecimanism controversy. There were also several local councils supervised or influenced by the Bishop of Rome before Nicaea. Do Protestant critics want to be on record opposing the Council of Nicaea where most bishops came from the east, where the vote was 99% in favor? When and where exactly was the Great Apostasy?

  • Did Roman Catholics change the Christian Creed established by the early Church? If they changed the beliefs, how can it claim to be the original belief? What does the book of Galations say about this question? What does Orthodox mean? If you study what Orthodox Christianity is, then you will discover that this article reframes reality to suit different teachings.

  • At time 8:33 the author of this youtube states, ” by the time of the 2nd century the church became a well- defined system with authorities such as bishops deacons and priest. Actually this came in during the time Acts was written. chapter 6 writes about how the church is growing and the need for assistance there is some other chapters as well

  • Paul literally taught that we are no longer saved by “works of the law” meaning the jewish laws of circumcision, abstaining from pork and observing the jewish passover. So the fact that the narrator said that Christianity was not a different faith but rather a type of jewish faith is completely wrong. Furthermore, the narrator says that Paul taught “having faith in Christ was enough to be saved”. Well…yes and no. The way that the narrator portrays it is that Paul said faith alone. Which he did not. Paul never said “faith alone”. It was Martin Luther who added “alone” to Roman’s 3:28, which we all know Romans was one of Paul’s many epistles or “letters” written to the christians in certain nations. Roman’s 3:28 goes a little something like this “we are not saved by works of the law, but rather by our faith”. That is what Paul wrote. It never said “faith alone”, not until Martin Luther wrote translated the new testament to german and took it upon himself to add the word “allein” (german for alone) to the text. And when martin luther was confronted about this he basically said screw the pope ill do what I want. So he didnt even really try to defend it in any way. He knew he got caught tampering with holy scripture. So, contrary to popular potestant belief, Paul never ever ever taught that we are saved by faith alone. Faith without works is dead faith. Which is why if we say we believe in christ, but we continue to live a life of sin and dont repent and all we ever do is proclaim our faith but not live it, that is not true faith.

  • I was raised a Catholic, until…I actually seriously started to read the Bible. We can read in Scriptures that Lord Jesus commanded the Apostles to first preach the Gospel to the Jews, and after also to the Heathen or Gentiles (but never vise versa!). I found out in Scriptures who of the Apostles for the first time went to Rome .. and it wasn’t Peter. In the Book of Acts it says in Chapter 28 the following: 16 “And when we came to Rome, the Centurion delivered the Prisoners to the Captain of the Guard: but Paul was allowed to live in a house, by himself, with a Roman Soldier that kept him. 17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the Chief of the there living Jews together: and when they came together, Paul said to them: “Men and Brethren, though I have committed nothing against our people, our customs, or against our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans 18 who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of guild in me. 19 But when the Jews spoke against that verdict, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had made any accusations against my Nation. 20 For this Hope (the Gospel of Jesus Christ) therefore I have called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because for the Hope of Israel I am bound with these chains. 21 The Chief of the Jews said to Paul: “We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning you, neither any of the Brethren that came from there shewed or spoke any harm of you.

  • I don’t think the “Catholic” church goes back to the time of Christ. If the word “Catholic” simply means the universal church then yes, the Catholic Church goes back to,the very beginning. But that is not what people mean by the “Catholic” church. The Catholic Church or Roman Catholic Church is an institution that has a structure and doctrines that are quite unbiblical in many instances. There are good things in the Catholic Church and there is a long history of great learning and knowledge and good coming from the Catholic tradition. But that is only in as far as the Catholic Church has been in alignment with the Bible and God. The same goes for all other churches. The church is a universal, spiritually reborn community of believers in Christ and the God of the Bible. That’s it. The church is nothing less and nothing more. You don’t have to be Catholic or Baptist or Orthodox or Pentecostal or some other denomination or sect. This is so clear in the New Testament that it should not be controversial.

  • The error in your film is that you say the emperor Constantine meddled in Christianity . Secular rulers don’t have any authority over eccleseastical matters. The only thing that he can be credited with is the edict of Milan and calling together the bishops of Christianity together . It was the bishops who handled everything at the councils . Constantine was merely present for part of it, and he was subject to them . He even humbled himself before the bishops.

  • Galatians 2:11-21 New Living Translation Paul Confronts Peter 11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong. 12 When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. 13 As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14 When I saw that they were not following the truth of the gospel message, I said to Peter in front of all the others, “Since you, a Jew by birth, have discarded the Jewish laws and are living like a Gentile, why are you now trying to make these Gentiles follow the Jewish traditions? 15 “You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. 16 Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. The Catholic church is lying. Peter was never Catholic for Christian he was a Jew his religion was Judaism, just like all the Apostles and Gods chosen people.

  • A few comments. You cannot anoint one to be the Messiah. Messiah means “anointed” and it is a term that is rightly used of prophets, priests, kings. “Catholic” means universal. The ecclesia (Which we wrongly translate as “church” is universal and embraces all followers of Jesus. It is not limited to a denomination. The church has never been unified or, said differently, never agreed on everything nor practiced its faith in the same way. We also need to be careful in quoting the church fathers as it would be wrong to assume that the words of one are representative of the whole. If one is seeking a “church or denomination of Jesus followers that actually resembles the community that began with Jesus himself, one is going to be frustrated as virtually everything we do, whatever we may wish to believe, cannot reasonably be found in the scriptures. A glaring example is that whatever we trace the Eucharist/Communion/Lord’s Supper back to, it was no a clergy person who officiated.

  • the meaningful contribution i think that christ makes to judaism philosophically is that since he is not interested in designing a physical, political system, he is able to be more idealistic. for example, when judaism might say that a sinner should be punished or kicked from society or even killed, judaism is taking the responsibility of committing ugliness in order to secure the physical security of a living community. Christ does not have the responsibility of ensuring the safety of a community, so he preaches forgiveness to sinners. He is not limited to the pragmatic reality, and thus is able to wrestle with the moral issue of the ugliness of punishing a sinner. Jesus has the hope that a sinner can improve, but a legal system cannot always have the hope and faith in people, even tho it is possible for them to improve. A legal system is responsible to the survival of the ingroup in the community which is not worth putting at risk, even if a sinner might be able to become better even tho they have sinned. Jesus, by shirking the responsibility of maintaining a community physically or legally, extends the degree of idealism and the group which can access it, but he only promises the kindgom of heaven (which might be a psychological space if not indeed a heaven), not a better physical life on earth. Jesus higher degree of idealism allows him to see the good even in a sinner, where judaism might not have the patience for this due to its responsiblity to preserving the safety of the community.

  • As an atheist… I do have a great deal and explanation as to how you can slightly fix Catholicism and it’s relation to the American automotive industry… You would have to first question the fact of a Scotsman and the ownership of a Ferrari… How that would complement business executives in corporate American automotive industry… secondly you have to take a look and understand the structure of a Polish Roman Catholic Church how they would be cross pollinating with Muslims and Jews, intentionally for their own Polish redcoats society? so if the was on me… I would say that that would be the first thing I would take a look into fixing Catholicism in the United States and assisting with the efforts of Ferrari, actually owning and winning… I am not Catholic. There is nothing that will ever change my mind about it… I am an atheist. I do not believe in God… There’s no reason to believe in God although I have one of these pieces of literature I’ve been given the last 30 years to not, have any question of doubt that the Earth is completely round and everyone is just a lifecycle… But I do not believe in God.

  • Some say that the Gospels of Matthew and John were written by eyewitnesses, and that the Gospels of Mark and Luke were written by close associates of Apostles. Some New Testament new age scholars say that the Gospels do not contain eyewitness accounts. But it’s because of the witnesses or “close associates” or students of the first Apostles, is why we trust in the four Gospels over the much later Apocryphal writings. Apocryphal writings were, for example, written by people who had visions without any witnesses. Most of the time for the purpose of trying to define Jesus into whatever belief their group was trying to push. Catholics believe they have both Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. Sacred Tradition being those things passed down from the original Apostles to their Apostles and then to Bishops, ect. Catholics believe the Apostolic Succession has never been broken from the Jesus’ original Apostles to today’s Bishops and Priests. Before the term Catholic (meaning Universal Church) came into being, early Jesus followers were called a few things like Nazarenes, later Christians, and then later Catholics. But at the time the term Catholic was used, there were no other Christian religions. It was only Catholic. For almost 15 centuries, Christians were called Catholic, up until the Protestant Reformation. Prostestant Christian religions can trace their roots back to a man. For example, Jon Wesley started the Methodist Church. Martin Luther started the Lutheran Church. Joseph Smith the Mormon Church.

  • Constantine didn’t spread Christianity, he spread Catholicism,‘there is a difference, maybe not a great big difference, but Paul the apostle spread Christianity throughout Asia Minor and possibly Europe. He also wrote most of the New Testament. Read it and see what salvation is. Start with Romans 10-9-10. Read 1st and 2nd Corinthians. And Acts. Before you try to understand the rest of the Bible, ok.

  • Palestine is the name given by the Emperor Adriano (117-138 AC), before that, was Judea, Galilea, etc. Jesus Christ who was born jew announced that heaven’s kingdom is for everyone who follow his teachings ..then he founded a new religion, a new way to relating to God. The name Catholic (universal) started in 115 AC . The new religion was banned and persecuted by several emperors until Emperor Constantine vía his edict of Milan made official the new religion. Himself few years before his dead is baptized into the new religion. When western Roman Empire fall (476 AC) and the Emperor rules from Constantinople, Rome is abandoned and since then it’s ruled by the Pope that adopted the title of Pontíff (bridge builder) The first Pope was Peter (crucified upside down in Rome) when several years ago in Judea..Jesus said ..”Simon son of Jonah, you are Peter (petras:rock) and on this rock I will build my church” (Mathew 16 13-20) . The first basílica and Pope’s seat in Rome was in Saint John at Lettern (324 AC) and it was that way until The Vatican State, known as Holy See, is created in 1929, The first Christian temples adopted the Roman basilica (public building), simples outside, full of light inside. The second oldest basilica was Saint Peter at 329 AC on the site where Apostle Peter was buried at the Vatican hill. It was built by Constantine (an act of gratitude due his victory against Majencio) . The new well known St Peter’s basílica was build 500 years ago aprox on the old Basílica.

  • Even though the first cannon that the council of nicea was agreed and decided upon after the death of Constantine, he still influenced the hell out of the members of the council In my mind, Constantine decided to “use” Christianity to his advantage. He is the one that created the first council and I feel that they had conversations about how the church can be what maintains Roman power over its people. When you have your own bank that is the equivalent to a country within a country, something is afoot and it isn’t Divine in nature. I believe in Jesus and God but I also believe in Buddha. Tend to stick with what I know hasn’t been corrupted

  • Rome was one of the first Christian churches. It was one of the 5 Patriarchs which were Alexandria, Antioch, Constantinople, and Jerusalem (were Christianity emanated from) Rome in the fourth and fifth centuries separated itself from the other Christian faith centers who were to become the Eastern Catholic Orthodox Church. Later during the years of the Roman Catholic Crusades, when the Latin church sent armies to destroy these other Christian seats to withhold its power and weaken them at the same time. Pope John Paul II in 2000 offered an apology to these churches for the Latin churches crimes against its brothers and sisters for the goal of Roman Catholic colonialism. So we see the “Rome” church was not “the first” but one of five before it became the usurper of Christ true church.

  • By Faith, Matthew 8:5-10 more faith than all of Israel. John 19:21-22 Pilate refused to change what he wrote, for he is the KING. Romans 1:7-8 faith of the Romans shall be known. This is how the Covenant was started for those who believed in Jesus, for we live by Faith. Just as Moses made is Covenant with the Levites and Israelites with blood and water (Hebrews 9:19) so did Jesus make his Covenant with blood and water with the people of Israel and the Romans John 19:34-35/ Hebrews 12:24. John 19:37/Zechariah 12:10/Revelation 1:7 just as the others Matthew 16:28. Mark 9:1, Luke 9:27 even told the high Priest he would see him Matthew 26:64/Acts 7:56. Without Jesus to reign over the Gentiles than there would be no salvation for Gentiles Romans 15:12 (Rev. 22:3/Galatians 3:13) God bless

  • Catholics we never considered ourselves a sect. What is true is the adherents of Judaism did considered Catholicism a sect. What is also true is the Jewish adherents recognise the very first Christianity was Catholicism. Orthodoxy and Catholicism was used simultaneously during the late 3rd century. The emperor Constantine didn’t created Catholicism nor Charle magne. Both Charle Magne and Constantine followed Christianity Catholicism. Usually Protestantism they mentioned that supposedly Constantine and Charles magne created Catholicism but if they look at the historical facts that would be inaccurate. Even the German protestants, although originally most Germans weren’t protestants, Lutherans who were the first protestants admit that Catholicism was established by Christ and the first time the word Catholicism was coined was in 110 A.D. However some protestants in Europe, although they are a minority, claim that supposedly the Catholic church corrupted. Which then that means that they failed to have faith in what our Lord has said, that the gates of hell wont be able to overcome the church (referring to the Catholic church). That is reality. Many pondering about this particular part of the bible decided to return back to the Catholic faith because they further read that the keys to the kingdom of heaven was passed down to saint Peter the apostle exclusively by Our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes the lord is the rock the founder of the church, but then our Lord passed that rock to Simon, known as Peter which was a foundation to upheld all what our Lord has taught, to become the vicar of Christ and his successors.

  • There Are Clearly Major Problems With Catholicism – The issue concerning any church and its practices should be “Is this biblical?” If a teaching is Biblical (taken in context), it should be embraced. If it is not, it should be rejected. God is more interested in whether a church is doing His will and obeying His Word than whether it can trace a line of succession back to Jesus’ apostles. Jesus was very concerned about abandoning the Word of God to follow the traditions of men (Mark 7:7). Traditions are not inherently invalid…there are some good and valuable traditions. Again, the issue must be whether a doctrine, practice, or tradition is Biblical. How then does the Roman Catholic Church compare with the teachings of the Word of God? Salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation is by baptismal regeneration and is maintained through the Catholic sacraments unless a willful act of sin is committed that breaks the state of sanctifying grace. The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace which is received through simple faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), and that good works are the result of a change of the heart wrought in salvation (Ephesians 2:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17) and the fruit of that new life in Christ (John 15). Assurance of salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation cannot be guaranteed or assured. 1 John 5:13 states that the letter of 1 John was written for the purpose of assuring believers of the CERTAINTY of their salvation. Good Works: The Roman Catholic Church states that Christians are saved by meritorious works (beginning with baptism) and that salvation is maintained by good works (receiving the sacraments, confession of sin to a priest, etc.

  • The Catholic Church did not begin 2000 years ago, it began in the early 330 AD when Constantine moved his capital to Byzantine and rename Byzantine Constantinople. When he left Rome, he then left the Bishop of Rome in charge. From there those rotten man began a religion on the shoulder of Christianity. It was paganism wrapped I a Christian garb. Nothing more. They renamed the idols in the Parthenon and called them saints. They were and still worship idols, calling them saints. It is the mother of harlots and, as Daniel 7:25 says, thinks to change times and laws. It changed months from 30 days to 31 days. It changed when a day begins from evening to evening, as the Lord said to 12:00am to 12:00am. It change the beginning of the years from Passover to January. I’d say anyone who does present this dark side of the pontifex Maximus does no know the true history. When Martin Luther discover what was really going on he said that the Catholic Church was built right over hell.

  • Question: “Are Catholic beliefs and practices biblical?” Answer: The issue concerning any church and its practices should be “Is this Biblical?” If a teaching is Biblical (taken in context), it should be embraced. If it is not, it should be rejected. God is more interested in whether a church is doing His will and obeying His Word than whether it can trace a line of succession back to Jesus’ apostles. • As far as I know, there were five churches,,Antioch, Jerusalem, Alexandria, Rome and Constantinople,,,,and they did not call themselves Catholic,,,,,,,However, Rome and Constantinople had the strongest influence,,,and that is why it happened East–West Schism..in1054,,,,I have the impression that Westerners think that Christianity is only their religion,,,

  • The Church is commissioned right here, She is sent forth at Pentecost. “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. ” John 20:21-22 Also, the Apostle Paul says that only those who partake of the one bread, the Eucharist, are the Body of Christ and are made the Body of Christ by it. “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.” 1 Corinthians 10:16-17

  • There were many gentiles (mostly wealthy Roman women) who attended religious Jewish service. But they had to be seated away from the Jewish followers, they were separated from the Jewish congregation. The Jewish worshipers would faith of OUR fathers well the non Jews had to say, faith of YOUR fathers. That is why the Christian faith exploded in growth. Many knew the Roman and Greek gods were not real, (good stories yes). So the world was ready for a Messiah that reached out to ALL humans, he was just the Jewish Messiah, but to all.

  • Jesus never chose Gentiles as apostles. He never taught or spoke to other than Jews in Israel. Paul is the one who changed everything by getting rid of the more difficult Jewish laws and traditions. It took four-hundred years for the Catholic Church to coalesce. The Christian’s massacred the Pagans. And heaped prejudice upon the Jews. The Romans had some respect for the Jews because their religion was so ancient.

  • – SUNDAY is Our Mark of authority the Church is above the Bible and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact, Catholic Record, September 01, 1923; Canon of tradition, Page 263 – The Roman Church now presents a fair front to the world, covering with apologies her record of horrible cruelties. She has clothed herself in Christlike garments; but she is unchanged. Every principle of the papacy that existed in past ages exists today. The doctrines devised in the darkest ages are still held. Let none deceive themselves. The papacy that Protestants are now so ready to honor is the same that ruled the world in the days of the Reformation, when men of God stood up, at the peril of their lives, to expose her iniquity. She possesses the same pride and arrogant assumption that lorded it over kings and princes, and claimed the prerogatives of God. Her spirit is no less cruel and despotic now than when she crushed out human liberty and slew the saints of the Most High. – Canon law is the system of laws and legal principles made and enforced by the Catholic Church’s hierarchical authorities. It regulates the church’s external organization and government and directs the activities of Catholics toward the mission of the church. – Revelation CH 22 Vss 18, 19 & 20; 18- I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19- And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.

  • @dannyjackson5189 You lack knowledge. Apostle Paul took the gospel all over Asia Minor and started Churches (local churches). Christian Churches are local churches. Absolutely biblical. Bible says Church refers to “all local churches + all believers”. Anything apart from Scriptures are your fallible opinions. you said There was (A) CHURCH. THEY MEET IN JERUSALEM AND GAVE PAUL THE RIGHT HAND OF FELLOWSHIP, while deciding what course concerning the gentille converts they would take. Protestantism is not real. Individual people are really trying to find God and his mercy is extended. No one has ever had the right or authority to start another church. Luther, Calvin..no one

  • @dannyjackson5189 That’s the lie Roman religion is telling you. Sola Scriptura existed since OT. – Scriptures say “Man shall live by every Word of God”. OT people lived by every Word of God – Mosaic Law. – Jesus and APostles took doctrines from Scriptures Only. Not once from any other source. – NT Church also took doctrines from God’s Word only, Acts 15.* – Dozens of early writings directly mentioned the actual words “Scripture Alone” and many others the doctrine of taking doctrines from Scriptures only. And many mentioned Scriptures as the pillar of truth. you said until over a thousand and 5-600 years later/ the reformation stemming from the latin church was there another kind of interpretation: scripture alone: that didn’t even exist in the biblical era before Paul’s missionary journey where completed.

  • Jesus was never meant for Gentiles…. He was sent by God (Allah) to the Jews community of his time….. he taught the Laws of Moses (Torah) and also foretold the coming of the next messenger from God (Allah). Paul never met Jesus and distorted Jesus’s teachings that told Gentiles not to follow the teachings of Jesus. Paul is the founder of Christianity and preached Jesus to be divine. The emperor Contantine later in 325AD made Jesus as part of God and made Trinity as the core faith as the Christianity.

  • the catholic church hold the authority thru the laying of the hands Jesus lays hands on his apostles .. the apostles, in turn, laid hand to their disciples .. the disciples to rest of the generation of priests to this current day it is called Apostolic Succession the Catholic Church is not formed by some lunatic who holds a book..

  • Imperial Rome became Papal Rome, not one of Christ’s teachings mention the elaborate system of the Papacy, not one Apostle claimed to be a Roman Catholic as Catholics suggest, Peter was never in Rome, Peter never once took on a title such as Pope or Holy father. There is zero proof that Peter was ever in Rome, the RCC began with Constantine, adding paganism to Christianity. The Roman Catholic Church, AKA The Holy Roman Empire began adding paganism to Christianity in the 4th Century, even Jerome didn’t want to add the books of the Apocrypha as they were not written in Hebrew. What or who made Jerome go against his wishes?? The Arch of Constantine in Rome show no symbols of Christianity, yet it is full of pagan symbols that are now used in the Catholic Church.

  • God did not build His Church upon a man. The Rock is the Lord Jesus. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10v4 ” they drank from the spiritual Rock and that Rock is Christ” The Lord was speaking about Himself as the Rock. Understanding of the scriptures comes by revelation from the Holy Spirit and not from the carnal mind . The bible Gods Word says the things of God are are spiritual and not known through the carnal mind but by the spirit . This revelation and understanding comes from the Holy Spirit into a mans spirit as we spend time with the Holy Spirit and study, meditate and renew our minds to Gods Word.

  • The poor catholic. Poor because they don’t understand salvation nor in their churches teach salvation. We are all sinners, separated from God who loves us so much that He sent His only Son born of a woman to earth to become sin for us. Jesus said you must be born again in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. We all are born in our flesh and none of us had any say in the matter. Jesus said what is flesh is flesh and what is Spirit is Spirit. Also He said the Father is Spirit and they that Worship Him, Must, Worship Him in Spirit and Truth. The Bible states that Truth is the Word of God. Now Jesus said that if you can’t be trusted with what isn’t yours, how can you be trusted with what is yours. Now none of us asked to be born. But we all Must ask to be born again. If you don’t see a need for Salvation then sin doesn’t bothers you. I see myself as a lost person needing a Savior and I Know that Jesus is the Savior of the World. In that information they didn’t mention Mary but as once a catholic my self their whole religion is centered around Mary. The Bible says that there is one mediator Christ Jesus and it states it a few times. No where in the Bible does it mention worshiping Mary . In fact the Bible says that there is no name above the name of Jesus. And if Jesus is your true Savior as He is mine then there’s no way you would do that. Yes I was a good catholic at one time. But when Jesus came into my life and the Holy Spirit, He will speak and guide you. And He guided me out of the Catholic Church.

  • Catholic means universal and Catholic is different than Roman Catholic, which didn’t officially exist till 490- but Roman Catholics use the catholic word to imply it’s their heritage and their heritage aloan. Protestants look to the early church fathers, the apostles, Paul, Augustine, etc. as their heritage as well.

  • the reason it’s the Roman Catholic Church is because Peter journeyed there to Rome in circa 42 AD (and the seat of Peter being in “Rome”) and Mark accompanied Peter to Rome from Antioch. After Peter’s martyrdom in Rome, Linus succeeded Peter as overseeing bishop with “The Keys”. It was decided to keep the seat of Peter in Rome. Initially, the seat of Peter was in Greece, and then Antioch, and lastly Rome. But, the Catholic Church did NOT take the name “Catholic” in the 4th century! Where do these people get this nonsense? It’s as if CNN or msnbc wrote the script for this article. Some of this narrative is correct, but horribly wrong in parts!

  • Constantine did NOT found The Church. Christ began “The Church” in c. 30 AD and Peter was the first to call it “Katholikos”. Constantine came centuries later and gave Christians the freedom to practice their faith without fear of persecution (Edict of Milan). Then later Constantine was the first Roman emperor to become a Christian. But, Constantine had nothing to do with “founding” The Church whatsoever

  • the apostles were divinely ordained bishops of The Church and Christ placed Peter “in charge” with The Keys – not a physical set but bound in heaven and revealed by the Father. Matt 16:17-19. They had “authority” from God and Peter had complete oversight and authority over the others given by Christ. Peter began referring to The Church as “Katholikos” as early as the mid-30s AD, and in two of his non-biblical letters he even had written “Katholikos” regarding The Church. It’s Greek for “universal, whole, complete”. After Peter was martyred in c. 67 AD, “Linus” succeeded him as overseeing bishop of The Church with the Keys. His name is merely mentioned in 2Tim 4:21. After Linus came Anacletus, and after him came “Clement” whose name is merely mentioned by bishop Paul in Phil 4:3. Francis today is the 266th (?) successor to the apostle Peter. Although I’m not a fan of the current pontiff, and he can never give a false doctrine since the Church is divinely protected, personally I think this current pontiff should resign.

  • The Catholic Church is a sect itself. The early christian in Europe were Orthodox. The Catholic Church was created after the Schism, not in the 4th century, as it was a patriarchate, not a church by itself. The Pope was a patriarch, and the title of “sucessor or Peter” is only given by them and is only titular, as this title truly sits with the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.

  • not really the Catholic Church was founded by the Roman government in order to be a universal church and state religion by mixing paganism with Christianity. That’s why Catholic in Greek translates to universal. Constantine gathered up Roman Priest from multiple pagan religions, and Christianity to mix them all together. In 325ad emperor, Constantine declared that instead of resting and worshiping on the Sabbath day they will worship on Sunday as a day to worship the sun. (in the sky not the Son of god). When emperor Constantine was done building this church, he refused to be baptized in it, because he had created himself. They baptized him on his deathbed. you’ll find that even most the holidays in Catholicism are built in paganism for example, Easter. Easter was named after Esther the god of fertilization. The hold down were called the Annabaptist. if they were captured by the Roman government or the Catholic Church, the women were to be drowned in the men were to be burned at the stake.

  • Here’s a reformatted and polished version: God’s Salvation Awaits All people, representing holy scriptures across religions, eagerly await God’s salvation. The Solution Revealed After painstaking efforts, the discipline for salvation is found: – Face upwards – Closed mouth – Open, clear, winking or twinkling eyes A Call to Discipline Embrace this sacred practice to escape suffering and find salvation. Consequences of Disobedience Without discipline: – Pride and anger escalate – Harmful ways persist – Untouchability and suffering prevail God’s Guidance Heed God’s call to discipline and save yourselves. God, the embodiment of discipline, guides us toward redemption. Unity in Discipline Let us unite in this sacred practice and find peace. May God’s guidance lead us to salvation and harmony.

  • The groups that disagreed with Jesus being the Messiah were politically oriented towards an earthly kingdom and sovereignty free of Rome or anybody else. Jesus disappointed them because He seemed to preach to all and refused to seek worldly power. At Nicea St. Nicholas punched Arias in the nose for denying the Incarnation. Nicholas is much beloved all over Asia and pictures of him can be found in Chinese restaurants and everywhere. The communion of Saints family in the Catholic church may be its most lovable quality as many non Christians and non Catholics have their favorites and feel close to them…Mary (Theotokos) included.

  • It wasn’t the 1st Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar during Jesus’s time. It was the 2nd Emperor ‘Tiberius’ from 26/27 to 36/37 AD. He reigned while his Governor Pontius Pilate, ordered the crucification of Yeshua Jesus. The Language Jesus and his Apostles spoke and the earliest New Testament writings was in Aramic.

  • Jesus walked the Holy Land or Israel but never walked on Palestine as this was formed 100 years after the resurrection of Jesus by the Roman emperor Hadrian in 135 AD The Jews were dispersed throughout the Roman Empire by Hadrian who also is accredited with the wall named after him that separates Scotland and England known as The Hadrian Wall which still can be seen to this day

  • 1054, the great schism is when the Catholic Church started. That’s when they excommunicated themselves from the Christian Church in Constantinople. Catholic Pope in Italy changed the Nicene creed established in 330ish. Italian Pope also wanted to be the leader of all churches including in Constantinople…Christian’s said nah we autocephalous

  • I know Protestantism having 30,000 denominations is a popular joke but there is some truth to that.
