How To Handle The Sotek Rite?

The Prophecy of Sotek is a campaign mechanic in the Cult of Sotek faction, introduced in The Prophet and the Warlock DLC. It is closely linked to the Sacrifices to Sotek mechanic, which unlocks the next tiers in that faction. Skinks take heavy casualties in melee combat, so it’s important to get skink ROR and snake summon sacrifices as soon as possible. In battles, send the bastilodon into any enemy formation to create big blobs for your AoE abilities to hit.

The Rite of Sotek causes attrition for foreign armies in your territory, with an ambush success chance of +50. Lizardmen can perform several rites in the campaign to bolster themselves or recruit Slann Mage-Priests. Astromancy Stance is a unique army stance that increases map size.

The Prophecy of Sotek is a unique campaign mechanic in Total War: Warhammer 2, with each tier becoming available once the player progresses. The key is to be aggresive, take full advantage of sacrifice bonuses, and use your ark of Sotek and its ability to its fullest.

In addition to “The Great Invocation of Sotek”, the Prophecy of Sotek grants all Skinks Immune to Psychology and +10 MA/MD for 10 turns. This mechanic is crucial for the Cult of Sotek faction, as it helps players defeat enemies and gain a strong defense against invaders.

What is the Stage 1 prophecy of Sotek?

In Stage 1: The Rise of the Red Crests, Sotek’s faithful will lead the rebellion against non-believers and make disciples of the Old One’s children in the name of the Serpent-God. The Prophecy of Sotek is a campaign mechanic in The Prophet and the Warlock DLC, linked to the Sacrifices to Sotek mechanic. Tehenhauin believes that with sufficient sacrifices, the serpent-god may return, bringing salvation to the Lizardmen and exterminating the Skaven.

He will be issued unique missions, which grant access to new forms of sacrifice, granting him banners, followers, powerful temporary effects, Regiments of Renown, and more. As Tehenauin and his forces win battles against non-Lizardmen armies, they can mark post-battle captives as Sacrificial Offerings, which can be spent on performing sacrifices accessed by the Prophecy of Sotek missions.

Is Sotek a God?

Sotek, the Serpent God of the Lizardmen in Warhammer Fantasy Battles, is not one of the Old Ones, an alien race that created the Warhammer World. After the Great Cataclysm, all the Old Ones disappeared and were worshipped as gods by the Lizardmen. Sotek is different, being born from the collective thoughts, beliefs, and emotions of the Lizardmen, particularly the Skinks. The Slann, the Slaven, are trying to decide if Sotek is part of the Great Plan of the Old Ones, which the Slann are mostly failing to carry out. This has the Slann very worried. A small number of people are born with a special red crest, marking them as favoured servants of Sotek.

What is the rite of rebirth Warhammer?

The Rite of Rebirth was a ritual created by Bahamut to transform non-draconic humanoids into dragonborn. The Platinum Dragon rejected breeding creatures to oppose the creations of Tiamat and sought out volunteers who demonstrated strong determination and the will to work against vile draconic creatures. Bahamut considered a potential recruit’s past irrelevant as long as they had demonstrated their commitment to oppose Tiamat and her spawn.

Bahamut called these humanoids before adolescence or sometimes adults, asking if they were willing to undertake the duty of protecting the world from Tiamat’s spawn. Not all answered, but those who did undergo a magical process known as the Rite of Rebirth.

Tehenhauin, a Red Crested Skink, became the Prophet of Sotek after a plague spread by Clan Pestilens. He led a migration out of Chaqua, prophesied the Serpent-God’s coming, and rallied the Lizardmen population. As Sotek’s cult grew, so did the Prophet’s following. Tehenhauin led his apostles to numerous victories, slaughtering captives as sacrificial offerings. Ikit Claw, like all Skavenkind, is naturally suspicious, untrusting, and treacherous.

What enemy did the Prophet of Sotek defeat?

Chaqua was devastated by plague and disease, and Tehenhauin was a hero for his actions during the Rat and The Serpent period. He led survivors of Chaqua and recovered the Sacred plaques of Sotek. Tehenhauin became the Prophet of Sotek and led the Lizardmen against the Skaven of Clan Pestilens. He fought for over a century, winning numerous victories, culminating in the Battle of Gwakmol Crater. The Skaven retreated to their last stronghold, Quetza, and Nurglitch managed to break through the encircling Lizardmen and his army to Fuming Serpent Island.

Nurglitch and his followers took to the water in a ramshackle fleet, pursued by a avatar of Sotek. Tehenhauin won a great victory at the Mal’liente Swamp, and the Slann Mage Priests met to discuss Sotek’s rise. In 2502 IC, Tehenhauin is chosen to lead the attack on Slagmire, which lasts three years but ultimately destroys the rocket invention.

What is the rite of kindling lore?

The Rite of Kindling is a powerful item that allows you to ascend a Bonfire three times after defeating Pinwheel in The Catacombs. For every Humanity you offer to the Bonfire, your Estus Flask total increases by 5, up to 20. What is the hardest part of the prophecy dungeon?

What is the hardest part of the prophecy dungeon?

Prophecy is the third hardest dungeon in the game, with a high enemy density and a need for good sustain, positioning, and a solid loadout. The first boss battle is deadly due to spammy Taken enemies and an abundance of Taken snipers. The sparrow section is easy to navigate, and the boss battle against Kell Echo is one of the simpler dungeon bosses.

Players may waste time if they accidentally kill a Taken Knight while standing in the light or shadow, spawning the wrong motes. To avoid this, players must be patient and pay attention to cover and good spots to stand in while doing damage to Knights and avoiding spam and snipers.

Spire of the Watcher, released during Season of the Seraph, takes guardians back to Mars to infiltrate a Seraph Bunker. The mechanic is simple, but there is only one variation introduced halfway through the dungeon, leaving much of the difficulty in the bosses.

  • Useful article but you forgot one major thing that I feel like should be updated post Hunter and the Beast DLC: The Blessed Spawnings. Periodically throughout your campaigns you will receive temporary quests that include killing an amount of units, capturing settlements, etc. Upon completion you will be able to recruit a certain amount of a special version of existing units that has small differences in terms of stats and certain abilities. The amount depends on the quest. These unique traits for blessed spawnings include increased speed and magic resistance for a Carnosaur, or expert charge defense and better armor for Temple Guard. They differ from the RoRs in that aside from the different boosts you can recruit an amount dependent on the quest given and there are more variety with them.

  • wait the map layout in campaign is different from what im playing now. got the game during summer sale and aafter losing 3 times decide to look this up. the campaign map doesnt look like what it is now. was there an update or specific dlc that changed this? if so is this guide still viable or bit dated now?

  • Pretty sure that using the Rite of Tzunki with Tlaqua only locks armies into marching stance if you end up using the extra marching stance movement before casting the rite (i.e. if you lock yourself into marching stance, the rite won’t unlock you). This rite makes vortex so much more enjoyable as you can actually react to the chaos armies spawned in by rituals before they cause any troubles. Also might have been noteworthy to point out that the cult of sotek (and tiqtaqto to some degree) enforce / strongly encourage very different army compositions early on, and that lizardmen campaigns often change greatly after unlocking the great lord kroak. Thanks for the upload, great work in these!! Looking forward to all the other factions! 😀

  • In case you missed my comment on West Rome Part 2, shadowplay went and fucked up and I lost a bunch of critical footage. The series is still going ahead, but it’ll take a while to make something cohesive for part 3. I’ll try and upload some more stuff on the side in the meanwhile so there isn’t yet another huge content drought. Also don’t worry historical fans, Attila’s still my main game for articles for the time being.

  • – 0:00 – short exposition dump at the beginning – 0:07 – introduction to our main character – 0:23 – introducing our secondary character who goes on to steal the show – 0:39 – title card – 0:45 – our characters embark on a journey, learning new skills and gaining experience; the conflict becomes clear – 1:18 – the tension is rising, the big villan is being foreshadown – 1:28 – our heroes face first big setback – 1:41 – they overcome the challenge but the conflict is far from being over – 1:45 – we have a gear up scene as we are preparing for what’s to come; this marks the beginning of the second act – 1:59 – setting up our secondary character becoming the love interest – 2:18, 2:28 – our main characters become smarter while facing great challenges, showing how far they have come since the beginning – 2:40 – against all odds our heroes score a crushing victory; this is effectively the higlight of their skill – 2:56 – soon after, due to the grave mistake of the main character a great loss occurs – 3:04 – our character hits his lowest point, driven by his lack of action when his people needed him the most and his leadership put into question he reaches for the quick resolution to anguish his pain – 3:11 – our beloved secondary character reaches out to our hero trying to give him the motivation and strenght to move forward – 3:16, 3:28 – quick flashback and a montage to remind our hero what he was fighting for to begin with – 3:33 – he decides to move forward and redeem himself; our main antagonist is introduced; we enter the third act – 3:39 – before fighting the big bad our heroes must face his many minions, the battle is won with minimal loses thanks to all the experience gaind along the way as well as newly found love and friendship – 3:49 – finally it has come to this – the final challenge for our heroes they have to face their ultimate challenge, something they have been preparing for this entire time; the battle is only briefly acknowledged and happens off screen – that’s because the theme of the story was never about battles and heroic deeds; rather it was the story about finding a true love as well as purpouse in this world and giving it all you have no matter how rocky is the bottom you may hit – 3:54 – and with that the credits roll, the story concludes but the message remains in the hearts of those who paid attention and rewards them with a lesson for a lifetime Congratulations sir – You have created a quality Hollywood blockbuster as well as one of my favourite vids on the internet.

  • I have 800+ hours in this game, I thought I was decent at it, but now I can see just how much of a scrub I am, especially after perusal the absolutely mindblowing things you accomplished in Attila (which I never played but the point still stands). I didn’t realise just how much I needed a lesson in humility, it is inspiring.

  • As someone playing as the lizardmen right now… this was a work of art. This article kept popping up in my feed and I thought it was another boring “how to play as “insert race”. Then i finally clicked on it. And i watched a short movie of a man falling in love with a small lizard. Keep up the vidoes. I love the Attila ones articles too. I’m perusal them all right now. If you make another warhammer article id like to see either empire cause everyone loves them. Or someone rare like the dark elfs. Like the high elfs…. but more murdery.

  • There is something just so incredibly satisfying about seeing a Carnosaur ram its way through an enemy line of troops that makes 10 year old me when I saw Jurassic park so very happy. Fucking autoresolve is so dumb man. If you don’t outpower the enemy 4:1 they inexplicably kill so many of your dudes. Lose nothing, or like 60 troops to eassily 10 times more kills? ‘Close Victory’ Yeah close to wiping them out!

  • Playing a sfo campaign as lizardmen where vampire counts have destroyed empire, mossiloun has destroyed bretonia and greenskins are dominating dwarfs. High elves were doing great but now bunch of chaos armies are on their shores. In terms of strength ranking vampire counts are first with lizardmen in 2nd and mossilon in 3rd.

  • I love the Lizardmen and I love the Skaven I was introduced to the Skaven first thru Mordheim: City of The Damned and fell in love with them, but now ever since getting more into the warhammer universe; recently by helping my bestfriends younger brother paint his tyranid models and I saw a dreadsaurus model. When I laid my eyes upon that I immediately knew the Lizardmen were the most badass faction. Too bad it has been taken out of play and the Monstrous Arcanum is null and void. Although idc I’m in love with the dreadsaurus and would love to own and paint one.

  • Regarding all games, I always avoided using magic in every game I played as it was both complicated for my feeble, barbaric mind to comprehend and it felt like cheating with how powerful some magic could be. But…. To see that kill tally of over one thousand.. I’ve been playing mages in every game now, and especially rolling a good 3-6 in my total war armies for the extra winds and mana regen. And it’s all thanks to this article.

  • Yrridian this was an awesome article, and the only thing wrong there is the army composition. Kroq Gar should lead a stack of 2 Carnosaurs (himself and his Disciplined Scar Veteran) and 18 Stegadons (as Knowledgeable and Disciplined Skink Chiefs and Priests also ride Stegadons) not Ancient Stegadons, mind you — simple, normal Stegadons. They are walking artillery as well as armored melee fighters. They slay towers and walls in a couple of volleys. They slaughter half of the enemy army on approach — and then stomp the rest into a warm-blooded pulp under their feet. Solar Engines don’t stand a chance against 20 Stegadons. Actually, nothing stands a chance against 20 Stegadons… maybe aside from 20 Necrofex Colossi lead by Noctilus.

  • I’m new to TW:Warhammer. This is my first Warhammer II campaign. I started with Gor-Rok&Kroak. Currently my main strat is that I send in Gor-Rok alone while the rest of the army stays back. He tanks all the fukken everything, takes 0 damage. Then Lord Kroak just uses the POWAH OF TEH SUN to wipe the rats out. It’s brutal. But the GOD DAMN RATS ARE EVERYWHERE.

  • Anyone who has played Lizardmen in the tabletop game also knows the truth: Saurus are awesome and great at holding the line, but the bois who get shit DONE and kill ALL THE THINGS are the Skinks running all over the place. It’s nice that this fundamental truth applies to Total War as well. Also, a Warhammer game is not officially underway as a Lizardman player until Skinks start dying.
