What can I do with my tarot cards?
The archetypes of the tarot can be explored through various methods, including examining the archetypal energies, symbology, journaling, and layering it into your interactions with the cards. Journaling allows you to deepen your understanding of each card’s meaning and energy, allowing you to better understand the lessons it has to offer. While journaling with the tarot is not ideal, it can be a useful tool for personal growth. To begin, you can work through the cards one at a time or intuitively select a card to journal about. Some questions to ask yourself when journaling about different cards include:
- Are there any archetypes or human themes that stand out to you in this card?
How to sleep with tarot cards?
If one draws a card with positive connotations or an intention to ponder, sleeping with the card can be beneficial. Nevertheless, it is possible that some individuals may find the energy emanating from tarot decks to be a hindrance to their ability to sleep. Should one feel inclined to sleep with a nearby card, it would be advisable to do so.
Should you pull a tarot card daily?
One method of establishing a practice of tarot is to pull a card each morning and record one’s thoughts and reflections on it in a journal. Additionally, touching the cards may prove advantageous. Nevertheless, a more elaborate configuration, such as an Instagram tarot spread, may offer a more visually appealing alternative. A well-executed morning tarot spread is an excellent way to commence the day with a tarot reading, instilling a sense of excitement and anticipation.
Is it okay to travel with tarot cards?
A tarot deck is a useful tool for reflection and learning in new environments. It provides a framework for thinking about the setting and reveals your relationship to it. It can also be used for note-taking or personal journaling, directing writings and ruminations. John Holland’s Psychic Tarot for the Heart and James Wanless’s Voyager Tarot are recommended, both with comprehensive guidebooks for beginners. Kim Krans’s The Wild Unknown is also recommended.
Standard Rider-Waite-Smith tarot decks are suitable for trips. Contemporary oracle decks, such as Doreen Virtue and Colette Baron-Reid, are also excellent options for working with angels or saints. Whether you’re traveling or simply need a tool for reflection, a tarot deck can be a valuable addition to your travel kit.
Should you pull your own tarot cards?
Reading your own tarot is a valuable tool for checking in with your intuition when needed. It can help identify your current needs, address questions, or provide direction in planning. However, it’s important to know when not to use tarot cards, as some questions are best addressed by mental health or medical professionals. Additionally, asking direct questions to someone is more effective than relying on a tarot card reading.
Not every question can be answered by a tarot card reading, and cards cannot provide a direct answer. Nonetheless, reading your own tarot can be a useful way to check in with your intuition about certain questions.
How many tarot cards should I pull a day?
Tarot cards can be pulled one or three at a time, with the choice of three depending on the individual’s relationship with the cards. Interpretation is the final step in daily tarot pulls, as the cards do not predict the future but rather explain the current vibe. Tarot cards offer free will, allowing users to work with the information or choose not to. The deck contains 22 Major Arcana cards, numbered from 0-21, which are important and karmic lessons in life.
These cards point to big feelings, emotions, and decisions, starting with The Fool card, which signifies beginnings, and ending with The World card, which signifies endings. The cards are meant to provide insight or read situations for clarity when needed.
How do you energize tarot cards?
To recharge the deck, place the desired crystal on the surface, cover it with a silk cloth, and allow it to rest undisturbed for approximately 12 hours. Once the deck has been cleared, the cards should be held in the hands and the practitioner should meditate on the process of charging them with their own mental and spiritual energy.
Is it OK to pull tarot cards for yourself?
Tarot readings can be done by beginners, providing insight into current situations, honoring intuition, and forecasting potential outcomes. To begin, clean the energy of your space by burning herbs, ringing bells or chimes, taking a bath, or using crystals. A Selenite wand is a popular energy refresher that aids clarity.
Sit comfortably and close your eyes, focusing on the protective energy surrounding you. Take deep breaths, think about your question or needing guidance, and keep your mind and heart open to the answers that may come through the cards. Shuffle the deck, focusing on your desired query, and shuffle the cards in front of you. The pattern laid out is called a “spread”, and the meaning of each card in combinations builds up to the overall answer to your query.
Before beginning to shuffle, know which spread you will be working with. As answers come through, it’s important to draw additional cards for further clarity or start with a new question from a different perspective. Tarot readings can be a powerful tool for personal growth and understanding.

The second most common error is the failure to read when emotionally compromised. This may manifest as the selection of an inappropriate spread, the addition of an excessive number of clarifiers, an excessively detailed examination of card meanings, or the perusal of others’ feelings or motives following a challenging encounter with a superior or romantic partner.
How do I dispose of my tarot cards?
Should the images continue to hold a certain appeal, there are a number of potential avenues for further engagement. These may include framing the images, creating a collage, punching holes in the images and using them as ornaments on a tarot Christmas tree. Finally, the images can be recycled by placing them in a blue bin.
📹 Trimming the Raven’s Prophecy Tarot (Mod With Me)
Join me for another “mod with me” process video as we trim and edge the Raven’s Prophecy Tarot. To skip the process and go …
Love how it turned out. When I edge my decks, I seal them with distress glaze which makes them waterproof. The only downside is that they won’t take any more colors but, the colors look shinier and rich. Sometimes the black edging kind of have a purple shine to it, but the glaze gets rid of that leaving you with a great looking plain black.
This was such a wonderful surprise! I own the Raven’s Prophecy deck…it’s one of my decks that I feel the closest connection with but I have the same feeling about those orange borders. I’ve never modded a deck, but I have seriously been considering it for this deck. Seeing how yours turned out has absolutely convinced me. There’s so much more depth and Maggie’s artwork really stands out. Thank you so much for sharing this ❤
I’m new to your website and I love your articles. Thanks so much for doing this article on the Raven’s Prophecy Tarot. This was the very first non-traditional (not Rws-based) tarot deck I ever purchased and I love it. 🤔 Though “have it your way” is one of my favourite catchphrases, I am nowhere yet near comfortable with the idea of modifying a tarot deck in any way. Looks complicated… I just kinda figure that when a deck is for me I’ll buy it, and will simply wait for a borderless version to be released. It is very liberating to see others alter their decks to their liking though. -Excellent articles, please keep it up. I’d much rather relax by bingeing on your articles than perusal other things. I loved your “How Does This Deck Read?” article (or title words to that effect). Thank you.
I loved having this resource, thank you. I AM extra precious with this deck since it was my first tarot, but I have several copies now so this weekend I finally modded one, making some mistakes at first and using your tips for guidance. I left the titles on this one, but I’m going to mod another copy down to the art like you did. I don’t yet have the shinier cardstock, but your modded deck reminds me of a black scrying mirror, which ties into the novels this deck is associated with. Beautiful job!
I still am at what I consider mid-beginner stage with practicing & reading tarot but I did purchase this deck when I first started and those borders and words got sliced right off & modded lol. The book is really thorough and I actually think it is a good addition to learning combined with a rws clone because in the guide book Maggie does go over what each card follows regarding rws but then also adds her wisdom as well and I love my deck, albeit smaller but I like mini lol. Plus I feel modding even just edging helps forge an even stronger, personal connection with the deck and I’m also big on guidebooks so I absolutely do not mind flipping through pages. Glad you enjoyed the outcome! Looks unique.
Great to see the Raven’s Prophecy. It’s one of my oldest decks that I feel really close to, although I have never really read with it. I have always liked the orange borders. And as I don’t come from a Halloween country, it never evokes that to me either. For me it’s like the glow of an open fire. But I always keep an eye out for a cheap copy so I could do the trimmed version as well because I just like the look of that. Unfortunately the deck only seems to get more expensive and I haven’t found a cheap copy yet. I think my cardstock was different, very thin and slippy so I just backed it with clear textured contact paper for a better grip. Thanks for this nostalgia trip 🥰
I love this deck, it’s one of my favorites! I used it in my #thatninecardspread article a few weeks ago. It is gorgeous with the edges trimmed off. I don’t think I will be trimming mine any time soon, but I really do like it. I was going to mention the book series this book ties into, but I see others have done that already. I actually met Maggie, at a book signing, and she signed my guidebook. She also has created the Scorpio Sea Tarot to be a companion to another of her books, and I have been considering getting that deck as well.
Absolutely adored this article! I too have the Ravens Prophecy deck, but I had not thought of trimming it. I loved how it turned out and how the artwork totally takes on a new vibe. I did how ever edge mine and I’m curious if the Tombow marker leaves black on your fingers when you start shuffling and using the deck? I used crayola on mine, also in black, and I still get a little black on my fingers afterwards.
