How To Obtain Magical Blades?

The Magic Dagger is a magical weapon in DnD 5e that operates similarly to the Throwing Knife but uses mana instead of consuming stacks. It can be obtained by walking up to it and pressing the A button on an Xbox controller. This weapon is useful for ranged attacks, Rogues, Rangers, and can be found in various locations, including the West Garden and Tunic.

The first magic dagger, the Needle of Mending, is from the Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount and drops from Mimics in Hardmode. It cannot be crafted, so players must hunt mimics. Players can pull up to two magic daggers from the bracer and immediately hurl them, making ranged attacks with each dagger. A dagger vanishes if not hurled.

The Magic Dagger is now available as a Pre-hardmode weapon in the Everything Seed and Don’t Dig Up, but it can be bought from the Skeleton Merchant for 50 silver during a checkpoint. It is also found in chests or sold by the Skeleton Merchant during the Third Quarter. Damage decreased.

Goldfish Warriors drop Magic Daggers in Hardmode, and players can claim them by walking up to them and pressing the A button on an Xbox controller. They can be purchased at Cerulea and Sabura, and they can be obtained by backstabbling friends.

In summary, the Magic Dagger is a valuable tool in DnD 5e, offering various benefits and challenges for players.

  • I always said that the distance of that lunge is kinda ridiculous. People who already got used to pebble(given how often it is used in PVP), are really caught off-guard with how far this goes. Very fun thing to use. When using the dagger itself – there are better options. However, when you use weapon skill more – this completely outclasses any dagger with Pebble inserted, just because of both damage being bigger and lunge reaching further

  • I remember when I started my spellblade build. I went with double dagger, the blood dagger specifically and literally a regular dagger since I only had one ash of war with magic at the time(before stomveil castle) though I did flit between that and bloody slash. It wreck in those low level invasions, not only doing loads of damage but the bleed proc was great with the rapid attacks, not to mention staggered everything. Only reason I went away from them is in PVE I struggled with dealing with multiple enemies at once due to the short ranged, since I’d roll to get close and while I’m attacking just get stabbed in the back by his friend, so went with rapiers instead. Might go back to daggers though with this thing.

  • Misericorde is the best. Throw flame of the redmanes on it equip. shard of alexander, fire scorpion, dagger talisman, Bull-goat’s talisman. Then proceed to wreck shop if you need more put the flame-shrouding cracked tear & the lead hardened tear in you physick & cast flame grant me strength & golden vow

  • I hated that ending of Selen’s quest. I wish when you met her as a ball, she would be like “Ah, my apprentice. How do you like my new form? With it I can study the primevil current more effectively.” Wtf happened in that quest? I would’ve prefered if she died fighting Renala and gave us a bell bearing instead.

  • One thing to add that kind of went unsaid in the pros and cons regarding critical damage: Individual weapons have their own critical damage multiplier (i.e: two long swords with the same damage numbers, one with 100 crit and the other with 110, will have 10% crit damage difference between them) and daggers DO often have higher than normal multipliers, yes…. BUT ALSO Different weapon classes have their own base crit multiplier for the class itself. A Dagger with 300 damage and 110 crit WILL DO more damage on a crit than a long sword with 300 damage and 110 crit. Daggers DO have the highest base crit multiplier it’s their largest claim to fame, so to speak. They are followed in this by Thrusting Swords so if you want a crit-heavy tool that’s slightly more versatile, something like the basic Rapier or the Rogier’s Rapier are valid option (can confirm from recent personal experience, they pull in the numbers)

  • Pretty sure the Wakizashi exists entirely for those of us who want to roleplay the legendary gigachad himself, Miyamoto Musashi, alleged to be the creator of a dual wielding sword style that he called “two heavens as one,” (super badass name by the way, why doesn’t anyone name things like this anymore) which used either two katana or a katana paired with an offhand wakizashi. He was also a super interesting philosopher, I’d highly recommend anyone to read about him, fascinating guy

  • While I do really don’t like the seemingly insane amount of ads on your wiki-style site, I do understand, that keeping the servers running costs money and nothing in the world is free (in Germany we have a saying: “Nothing in life is free. Not even death, it costs one’s life”). I do very much appreciate the information available on you site and even more appreciate your Youtube content. It’s really, really nice imo.

  • Doing a playthrough of just daggers, I will say the weapon group is…rough to play with. I played with double great knives with high dex/faith/arc to utilize the dragon seal for blood and frenzy spells. It was a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong! One of my favorite playthroughs because the great knife is a, well great knife when it comes to building status. It was ALSO however the most frustrating playthrough with missing attacks, low stagger potential, and the nerf to Power Stance status. Now I do NOT want to see the scourge of what P.S. status weapons brought come back EXCEPT for one exception: daggers. I believe daggers are fairly weak, and they definitely could use a buff of being able to keep the same build up of status on power stance. If you think I’m wrong, let me ask you to go try something for me first: Do power stance great knives with blood infusion and see how fast it takes to proc bleed. Now go use the raptor talons claws with occult or bleed infusion and tell me if that’s faster! To save you some time, the claws build it up immensely faster, have (ironically) more range and safer combos, and on top of that you only need to upgrade the one set of claws vs the TWO daggers!!! Daggers need a buff, if not all of them, then certainly MOST of them.

  • hello fextralive, I have a question. could you make a build article about the spark aromatics? If you’re wondering how, here’s a suggestion. Perfumers use daggers as their main weapon. Why don’t you do a double dagger build with frost daggers and use the aromatics to thaw the enemy? I use a frost misericod with chilling mist ( for frost ) and scorpion stinger in the offhand for scarlet red. And the best, the daggers scale best with dex and the Main damage is from dex. I would be happy about that.

  • I dislike that he says how a weapon will have higher attack rating when infused with an element without mentioning the fact that it becomes split damage so for example if you have a keen infused dagger and it has 400 AR and you have a lightning infused dagger and it has 430 AR the keen dagger will do more damage because it doesn’t have to go through two types of defense. The only time lightning will out preform is if an enemy is significantly weaker to lightning damage. He also doesn’t mention what stats his character has wich skews results in favor of the elemental infusions because they have higher base damage and worse scaling

  • You can’t compare critical rating between different weapon classes. The number shown in game is only for comparing within the class. Every weapon class has a hidden baseline crit multiplier. Commonly referred to as motion values. Those can also be different depending on the type of the target/opponent. If you riposte a player then your dagger does 420% damage if it says 100 crit in game. 110 crit would do 462% and 140 crit 588%. But other weapon classes can have very different baseline crit values. Halberds do 308% riposte if it’s 100 crit. Larger weapons generally do crits in two separate damage chunks. Making the damge go throu flat resistances twice. But you can build up bleed with just a crit then sometimes. Because the motion values are different for different enemies, it’s generally better to crit small enemies with small weapons and big enemies with big weapons. Giant/Crusher and Executioner’s axe are goof for large enemies. Daggers and halberds are good for small enemies including other players

  • wait, does the blade of death and blade of gold dmg comparison account for late game holy resistance by the enemies/bosses? I know I ended up falling back to the black knife during late game boss fights simply because while the burst by the blade of gold is indeed higher, the dps is better with the blade of death. It is also important to note that the blade of death’s DOT seems to be %based.

  • A bit of a shame that a article released more than 2 years after the game has been out spends so much time discussing crit ratings without actually explaining how crits work. The rating displayed in weapon info is only one part of the story, the base multiplier for that weapon class as well as the weapon’s actual AR are both more important. Daggers are interesting for crits because they have a 4x base mult, by far the highest of any weapon class. Otherwise no one would consider using a misericorde with 140 crit rating if their regular weapon had 40% more AR in the first place. In general I feel like the new articles in this series stick too close to the formula established at release and fail to account for details of the game’s mechanics that actually matter a lot.

  • Personally I had a fair amount of success power stancing the Wakizashi with a katana. The Wakizashi would have Perry, giving me the option for doing perries while doing power stance attacks and then when I got a second one I could then use the swap between the two to allow me the use of my katana weapon art (moonveil) and a set up weapon art like Flintstone phalanx.

  • I’m currently doing a daggers only series in elden ring, with parry and reposte as a center if the boss is parriable, and I frequently watch fextralife articles on different weapon categories I only realised they haven’t made a daggers specific article until I started streaming my own run and did research on daggers. Finally the article is here, I guess only daggers were left to cover by fextralife.

  • I have a dagger only character ready for the dlc I was mostly using a status build with bleed and poison but switched into a strength build for radagon and elden beast using bloodstained dagger and the cinquadea Now I’m not sure which of those to bring into the dlc given fromsoft reputation of destroying status builds on dlc

  • Right now, I’m close to the end playing a mostly faith with some dex dagger plus incantation build using no spirit ashes. It is a challenge but a lot of fun to figure it out. One thing I have learned with bosses. As you have to be quite close dual welding to hit them, it takes a while to learn the proper distance. However, often I am inside the distance that many bosses need to hit my character which is a plus.

  • I hoped on elden ring after not playing for about a year or so after beating it multiple times got kinda bored but I noticed they nerved all duel wielding weapons and man that’s some bs that was a huge part of my build duel blood hounds fang or daggers anything pole blades and it’s all pretty much pointless now . I really hope they bring it back

  • To me this proves absolutely nothing. Killing simple NPCs and in a new game with any weapon can do a lot of damage to any NPC. It would have been interesting for him to do a demonstration fighting the most powerful bosses like Malenia, Radagon at an ng + 5/7 so if he destroys it easily with daggers right now I would make a build based on his guide. For now I’m sticking with the archer and crossbowman build, I’m at ng+7 and I can beat almost all the bosses in a matter of seconds

  • I really hate the fact that PVP content gets PVE weapons nerfed. I don’t know a single person who hasn’t played elden ring, also, I don’t know a single person who has played PVP elden ring, no one gives a f*** about PVP. Why don’t they just remove that crap from the game and then nobody can complain about it anymore?
