📹 iPad Pro 11 Magic Mouse Update: Apple’s Solution 😥😥😥
Apples iOS 13.3 Brings forth problems for Apple Magic Mouse 2 Users. Find out what Apple had to say!!! Original Tutorial Video: …
When iPadOS initially came out, I was so excited to be able to use a mouse and my Magic Mouse 2 had to be connected via Switch Control, as you just did. unfortunately, I then bluetoothed my mouse to my MacBook Pro and even though I forgot the device on my Mac and trurned bluetooth off and shut it down, after that, I could not use the Magic Mouse 2 on my iPad but obviously, I’d done an update in between. I have been spending hours and hours trying to get it to work again but the Bluetooth devices under Switch Control would not discover my mouse anymore. I tried hundreds of different things, literally. Thank you for letting me know that no matter what I do, it will not work in 13.3 and I can stop wasting my time!! Amazing that it’s impossible to connect Apple’s own product to an Apple device. Just goes to show how Apple is so keen on releasing new features before getting rid of bugs, like they used to in the old days so it looks like they’re ahead of the competition but they are slipping further and further behind in the quality of their hardware and software and yet we still pay an enormous premium for their products. Apple is dying and from where I sit, so many people are so frustrated with Apple these days that Apple’s death may come very quickly now……..what a shame. Had they stuck to their values and ethics from years ago, they’d still be on top of the world, far exceeding their competition and people would never switch to another provider. The new CEO (Tim Cook?) is a complete idiot.
Magic Mouse (first version) on iPad Pro 10.5 started working on 13.4, however only as a pointer. The right click, left click on the mouse doesn’t work unless I program in Accessibility under assistive touch. The swipe and scroll function can’t be programmed due to no ‘click’ to trigger it, and it doesn’t just work, despite being made by the same company. Disappointing.
I appreciate your persistence. I have a relatively new (not newest) 27″ Mac and the Magic Mouse even has glitches with this desktop. When I plug in the Apple cable to charge the mouse, the desktop loses the mouse, so I can’t work while charging. I also can’t see charge updates, so I have to guess & unplug the mouse to see progress. Finally, when the mouse is charged, and I unplug the cable, I have to futz around with the mouse, or even reboot the desktop to re-sync the mouse. This is not a problem with the wireless keyboard. I haven’t reported to Apple, b/c like you, I imagine it is a software issue that may get fixed with updates … And, my time and frustration on the phone is not worth the trouble. I had these problems in High Sierra and in Mojave, but I have not yet updated to Catalina … so it may be fixed … or may be worse. I hesitate to upgrade to Catalina b/c I have some 32-bit software (PS Elements 12- paid-for! ) that may not work in Catalina. “Up-grading” Elements will be a monthly cost that is Not worth the added expense. Thanks for continuing the good fight!!!
You are not alone, same thing happened to me when I upgraded to iOS 13.3. The fact Apple has had so many issues allowing their own mouse to connect just like any other mouse is absolutely ridiculous. Plus the fact they buried it under the accessibility settings is even more so, and this is coming from someone who actually has a disability! I use the mouse to pan around the screen when I have zoom enabled.
I just picked up the Microsoft Arc mouse for my iPad pro 11 specifically because of the stupid “not able to scroll” issue with the magic mouse. Would of preferred to use apples mouse BUT i am LOVING the Microsoft Arc mouse it pairs with the iPad beautifully and fits perfectly in my waterfield designs Sutter tech sling EDC. Seriously cant recommend the arc enough and its on sale on Amazon rn! I got the black one 😬
Thanks for the update. I just bought an iPad Pro 12.9 with a magic keyboard and Magic Mouse 2. No matter what the Magic Mouse 2 does not show up. So I had a 1st gen Magic Mouse and connected just fine. My husband can use the mm2 on his Mac mini just fine. We have tried disconnecting every Bluetooth device and that didn’t work. Hopefully it will be worked out soon with full mouse capability.
I just updated to 13.3.1 and was wondering if this update fixed the bug with the Apple Magic Mouse? I have an iPad 7th generation and purchased the Magic Mouse 2, but after perusal your article I took it back to the store and started looking for the logi pebble in stores. Amazon took me down an accessory rabbit hole and I got overwhelmed after adding $200.00 worth of products to my cart…..lol
Okay, I appreciate the content and all of these updates. However, I have used the Magic Mouse 2 with my iPad Pro 11 for about a year now. I am updated the the newest iPadOS (13.3) and have had no issues. It still shows up in my Bluetooth settings fine, connects immediately and functions just as it always has. All of this is only to say that it must be an issue specific to you, not just the software. So just quit saying it’s 13.3 because that’s not the case lol
My IPad Air 3 is running 13.3 with the same issue. So frustrating! Am i going to have to buy another mouse after spending $100 on an Apple mouse? For what it is worth, I did the live chat w/ Apple support. So I was not on the phone. And all they came up with was a reply saying “The Magic Mouse is not compatible with IPad. Check the details here.” With a link to the Magic Mouse in the Apple store.
Hi Nic, thanks for sharing your experience with the iPadOS 13.3 Apple mouse issue, first of all. Great content 👍 I am having an issue with my iPad mini bought Nov. 2019. Connecting the lighting camera 3 adapter, power supported, plus my external 1T SanDisk ssd, does not work. My iPad, respectively the current system is not recognizing the external ssd ! Would be interesting to know if anyone has got the same issue !?
Ah man. I hope Apple is able to come out with a solution that gives you more control and functionality of the mouse, like using the scrolling feature. After perusal your article I rushed to see what my iPad OS was and it appears to have auto-updated to 13.3. I have the MagicMouse 2 as well, but it looks like the mouse is now pairing using Bluetooth, rather than through the accessibility window. Hopefully they come out with another software update soon to hopefully resolve all these issues.
I wanted to buy a Magic Mouse 2. But instead, yesterday, I’ve bought a Logitech MX Anywhere 2S. So many options and such a great mouse. Perfect with the iPad Pro and the Smart Folio Keyboard! Highly recommended!!! I’ve just watched your article today and man, ’s answer is terribly lame! Real shame!!!!
I think the reason the Magic Mouse isn’t compatible is because mouse support on iOS is an accessibility feature meant for people with difficulty touching the screen. Apple wouldn’t expect those people to spend $79 on an expensive Magic Mouse meant for Mac. However, there is one more way to try: In the settings app: Accessibility
What really worries me ( or angers me really)…. is the illiteracy in over 60% of the responses ( comments )….people have these high tech machines….but they themselves have a third grade level of intelligence……so basically I don’t trust the analysis of the problem with the mouse….if you can’t read or write….how the hell are you going to follow instructions properly. I suspect the technical people at Apple must be totally sick of dumb questions. Fortunately the comments here represents about .001% of the buying public….so the likelihood of it being a real problem is very slim. It’s Trumps America folks ! Dummies are prevailing right now. So relax and don’t let these confused idiots get under your skin !
