Herba Mystica is a rare ingredient in Pokemon games that allows players to cook fantastical buffs into their Pokemon’s food, making learning the culinary ins and outs of the game helpful. It can be used to activate Lv. 3 Meal Powers in sandwiches, which are essential for important situations like participating in 6-Star Raids or catching Legendary Pokemon. To farm Herba Mystica, players need at least one ingredient and load up on doubles or triples of individual ingredients.
Herba Mystica can be used to create Sparkling Sandwich Recipes (All Herba Mystica Combinations and All Powers) by adding it to the sandwich. These recipes can be used for outbreak Pokémon’s type, with rates being quite high even without the Sparkling Power.
To use Herba Mystica in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players must obtain it through participation in five and six-star battles. These rare ingredients can be used to create different sandwiches during a picnic to increase the odds of finding a shiny Pokemon. Sweet Herba Mystica Recipes include baguette, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard butter, peanut butter, chili sauce, and salt.
To make a shiny sandwich, players need to grab Herba Mystica from the various Tera Raids, which have drop rates of 4x of one ingredient. However, players can also make four-star sandwiches in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet without using Herba Mystica.

I seriously wish YouTube would stop saving articles to my previously saved playlist. For example I just saved one to a new playlist for Scarlet and Violet guides but YouTube also saved it to my MineCraft Building Tutorials which also has DanTDM’s og lab and a DIY omnitrix article for some reason so I had to go there to remove this article and the other article that I didn’t need from my MineCraft Building Tutorials playlist simply because YouTube does stuff like this. Does anyone know how to fix it so that YouTube doesn’t do this and if so please tell me.
Being afraid to do the new recipe sandwiches is silly. It’s easy, just have some sort of plan if your type ingredient is large. It saves you so much more time not needing to find specific raids w the salty, with minimal work needed. Something not covered is an actually usable way to do coop shiny-hunting if you’re not multiboxing. Yes. I could theoretically help a friend infinitely with my herbs and they could likewise, but that requires one of us isn’t shiny hunting. Sorta boring. Makes tons of sense if the second player isn’t real. Makes way less sense if I’m hanging out with a friend. If you both contribute 1 herb and commit to hunting the same type. you can do all the same tricks, save reseting if the hunt fails, etc. While just essentially getting your herbs to go twice as far, hunting simultaneously. I’m assuming you’d need to be hunting different places to not step on eachothers toes, but I am curious how coop shiny hunting can work. Some questions I’d really like answered are is there any actual way to productively be near eachother while shiny hunting. Is it always best to just go your separate ways? That’s definitely a good end-game for friends who want to play together if it can be solved. Shiny-hunting while not using your herbs is definitely not it though, oh wow so we both can’t play at the same time AND have no reason to do raids together?! What an amazing experience!
All these recipes are cool and all, but I hope in the near future someone comes up with a calculator for them. Theres a lot of effect combos and even some Lvl1 powers of specific types that dont exist in recipes at all. Like, is there a way to get an exp boost on the normal encounter lvl2 for chansey farming, I tried looking for big larvestas with Humungo power 2, but couldnt fit any encounter power next to the size power. Maybe theyre not possible, maybe they are. Crunching the numbers for each and every usecase ultimately defeats the time saving purpose though 💀
Personally though I don’t really like the sound of doing this. It feels like… like I get the powers this good because I work to get the Herbs Mystica, but then if you exploit a part of the game to get that without using your herba mystica, it’s almost like you’re circumventing the point I don’t want to rule what others in the player base do, play how you want as long as you aren’t hacking. It’s just one of those things I don’t want to do off principle. Like using the hidden merchant chests in Skyrim.
I don’t think my encounter power 3 is even working. I have faith active and I can’t get any ralts or Kirlia to spawn in areas I know I’ve seen them in. I’ve been shiny hunting for years and never found anything, I grinder for literally ten hours for herbs mystica and got no salt and now I finally get a recipe and it doesn’t work. Spent 3 hours trying to force an outbreak too. I’d pay money for a method that worked
Anyone knows if the tera raids work like they did in SwSh? What I mean is: When you’re just starting the game you usually find a lot of one and two star raids (in SwSh), as well first stage pokemon in those raids. But after like, the sixth gym (or after you beat the game I don’t quite remember) the game updates the raids and you no longer can find one or two star raids (and their first stage pokemon), only 3 star raids and above (and only with pokemon in their second or third stage). Does tera raids also work like that in S/V? Is there any list of the first stage pokemon that become unobtainable because they didn’t appear in the overworld to begin with and/or only appeared in 1 and two star raids?
Can anyone actually explain how to create your own sandwiches using the values shown in Serebii’s ingredient list? Every article that alludes to this just ends up parroting the same “Make these sandwiches for shinies!” comment without helping people understand why these ingredients were chosen in the first place to make use of other powers.
I absolutely loathe the Picnic Modes, especially the Sandwich Minigame. How ugly the graphics are in what hogged up the processing power of the game, I actually miss the Curry Function from Galar – at least the 2D Art of the completed Dishes looked good. It’s a minor improvement to the Daycare feature of past games, but I not once used any ingredients, just buy one egg power meal from a restaurant in advance, and then have 5 Ditto tag team my Starters.
I can’t find the “Every Which Way” Sandwhich shop at all. Where am I supposed to look???? I know its literally a hole in the wall in Mesagoza but I can’t find it. This article is awesome for the recipes but I cant unlock them if I cant talk to the NPC in the shop because I can’t find the shop. Someone help.
I was able to get Encounter lvl3 Dragon and Sparkling lvl3 Dragon without using 2 Salty Herba Mystica, but 1 Salty herba Mystica and 1 Sweet Herba Mystica along with other ingredients, and even with 1 Salty and 1 Spicy so there are more recipes for “bestest” recipes in case you dont have 2 salty for example.
Thanks for the article. But actually I use a different recipe than you. Use 4 food for the type you want, plus a burger, use “any” two herba with two wasabi. For steel type only need 4 burger. For now it seems like how you put the ingredients does matters, will give you encounter power for that. I didn’t discover this. I saw this from Chinese forum. Already got 6 paradox shines by using this recipe.
