How to unblock chakras in yoga?
Yoga poses can help open the Muladhara chakra, which is located in the groin area, and the Swadhisthana chakra, which is between the anus and navel. These seven chakras are essential for maintaining balance in the body and distributing energy to the nadi and the body.
Chakras, meaning “wheels” or circles, are specific areas where energy channels join a particular point in a circle. They work like switches to distribute energy in specific areas of the body. A balanced mind distributes energy to the nadi and the body.
There are thousands of chakras in the body, but the seven major ones are the root chakra, which is related to human survival and safety. It is located at the base of the spine and is associated with the earth. To maintain the root chakra, one should engage in exercises such as jogging, climbing, jumping, and dancing. Balancing the root chakra rightfully ensures the safety and well-being of oneself and their family members.
Does yoga clear your chakras?
Yoga is a powerful tool for balancing the chakras, with each chakra having a corresponding pose and response to breath and meditation practice. Focusing on one chakra can lead to benefits across multiple parts of the body, as movements affect other parts. The Mountain Pose, for example, is a great way to ground the root chakra, which is associated with attachment to the Earth. This pose involves standing up straight with knees slightly bent, feet spread apart, and breathing slowly. The Mountain Pose is the basis of all poses, as it involves standing tall and focusing on grounding legs on the floor.
How do I cleanse my chakras?
Chakras are a complex energy system within the body that can be blocked, leading to difficulties with concentration, sleeping problems, lack of motivation, and feelings of helplessness. To unblock these energy pathways, one can use techniques such as mantras, tapping, chakra meditation, yoga, essential oils, nutrition, going out into nature, and taking deep breaths. Mantras are short repetitions used at the end of yoga practices, acting as a form of sound healing that restores energy fields.
Tapping, or EFT, involves using fingertips to tap on specific meridian points throughout the body, allowing the body to release certain emotions that may be blocking the chakras. By incorporating these techniques into one’s daily routine, individuals can improve their overall well-being and balance their chakras.
How to open 7 chakras in yoga?
The practice of yoga, through the performance of specific postures (asanas), can facilitate the activation of the human body’s chakras. This, in turn, can promote balance and harmony within the body. The specific asanas that are believed to have this effect are Tadasana, Veerabhadrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Mudras, Root Chakra Chant (LAM), Sacral Chakra Chant (VAM), Solar Plexus Chakra Chant (RAM), and Heart Chakra Chant (YAM).
How to know which chakra is blocked?
A blocked chakra can manifest as physical discomfort, anxiety, emotional state, career performance, and interpersonal relationships. It can also cause chronic health issues, such as issues with the uterus, prostate, and digestive system. Overactive sacral chakras can lead to emotional highs and may be linked to sexual dysfunction or creative endeavors. Chakra work, though not scientifically proven, has been found beneficial in various cultures.
Observing actions, energies, and experiences can help identify the imbalanced chakra. To heal, techniques like meditation, yoga, affirmations, and self-reflection can be used, with regular practice proving beneficial.
How to remove chakra blockages?
The yogic tradition posits that when energy is obstructed by detrimental environments and stress, physical or emotional symptoms may manifest. These can be addressed through meditation, breathing exercises, and specific yoga poses.
Which chakra should I unblock first?
The root chakra, a wheel-like energy center in the human body, is regarded as the fundamental component of the entire chakra system. Some energy healers posit that to achieve equilibrium among the chakras, it is first necessary to restore the root chakra. The chakras are a part of a complex spiritual and religious tradition that originated in India. This tradition includes the chakras as a minor component of the body’s energy system.
How do I know my chakras are blocked?
A flowing and resilient chakra system is essential for optimal functioning, according to Aktekin. This system should know when to open or close, rotate or not, and avoid getting stuck in a certain position, preventing imbalances. A lack of flow can manifest as heaviness, discomfort, numbness, and sometimes pain in the body. Pain in an area may correspond to an area of life that isn’t flowing optimally, and stagnation due to a blocked chakra can affect interpersonal relationships and career performance.
Emotions are felt and stored in the body, including complex patterns related to traumas and stresses. These areas of discomfort and pain can be opportunities for finding other ways to engage with life. Chakras can be an important part of an inner guidance system.

I did this practice at the right time. I’ve been awake since 4 am and did this at 7:00. Actually felt like I got 8 hrs. of sleep. This seems like one I would do weekly at least. I love love the breath work along with the meditative form with intention. Question, my knees hurt anyway so doing the squat breath 27 times was super hard on my knees. Is there an alternative? You’re a rock star Allie!!!
This is just what I needed. Started my Journey… AGAIN. and was feeling not aligned, not well, not ready, I guess. As usual you are clutch when I am needing something but not sure what it is. My Body thanks you, My Mind thanks you, my heart Thanks you. Love your classes! On my wish list to attend one of your retreats!
I was led to this powerful article this morning as I was searching for a practice to help me balance my energy system and I thank you Allie for sharing your gifts – after completing this yoga practice, I feel renewed energy and fully charged. Sending abundant gratitude and appreciation to you Allie✨💕🦋
Had a bad trip the other day where i closed my eye and seen a spinning Mandela with a eyeball in it.. I was very scared…. Your chakra work is helping me understand my fear of this eye is an illusion.. I need help letting go and surrendering to the divine beautiful mystery such as life! When you said these energy centers are very intelligent you blew my mind… I feel i have been tapping into my third eye and crown but still cant fully let go…namaste. And thx for connecting the dots on my syncronicities..we all truly want to feel that we are one.. But once you truely feel it… It is a lot to take in
I saved this article when you first posted it and I’ve been spending the last couple weeks revisiting all the old articles I’ve saved and have been hoarding on my playlists to try to purge out old stuff I don’t need anymore, including articles, and I did this one again today and got to the sacral chakra step and was like “damn my legs burn why the hell did I save this one?” And then I got the whole way to the end and was like “alright I remember”. Gonna keep this one.
Hi, are you sure that inhale and exhale shouldn’t be through the nose? Frankly speaking this is the first yoga kundalini website where yogi show exhaling through the mouth during warm up exercises. In other articles I see the same pattern; during spinal flex or spinal twist, and I was never did it this way before. Always breathing through the nose. Are you sure is that all right? :>
I’m a beginner to Yoga tho i am not a beginner with meditation. If anyone has some tips for me I would love to hear them. This session was quite great and I feel the energy filling my body. How should I envision the energy flowing through my body and through my chakras? Ik It was partally explained but I would like a deeper explanation. No one on youtube really dives into energy flow through the body and through chakras.
I’ve been my moms caretaker as she’s dying from pancreatic cancer. Ive been experiencing every emotion at once which has caused me to build layers around them so as not to feel anything. This has helped to open me up, made feelings come forward, helped me release and reground. For now this will be my daily ritual. Thank you
Totally felt this! I try to meditate 10-20 minutes a night, but it has honestly been hard to stay motivated to do it. This was wonderful and I felt such a strong energy. I will definitely be returning and am going to do your Chakra Challenge(: So grateful for you and the peace and energy you allowed me to find.
Allie, this was such a beautiful practice. I realized that my heart can exist as fully healed, and fully wounded, all at once, coexisting. When I practice with you I feel full, and healed, and at peace. However during my days I am often triggered back to states of fear and reexperience my trauma often. Even though I will have those flashbacks for quite some time, it gives me peace knowing that there are energies within me that are also serving me and wanting me to heal.
I’m a nurse in the NY/NJ area where COVID19 is sucking the life out of our citizens. The past 3 months have been emotionally draining, mentally exhausted, and spiritually defeated. I enjoyed cleansing our chakras individually in your past articles, but this article, especially with all chakras together, let out a lot of grief and cry within me. This was a great foundation article to start getting my alignment back together as I was unable to connect and communicate what was going on on the outside with my inside. Thank you for this article, Allie, it has brought me back to myself and why I continue to do what I do… waking up and fighting to save lives. <3 sending you all my love.
Hi Allie! I loved the practice, thank you for sharing! I went through some comments and didn’t see this question asked (sorry if I missed it, I’m only just now finding this article 🙂 — I’ve lost some of my strength over the past year or two, if I can’t make it to 27 in sync with you on the root and solar plexus moves, should I go at my own pace until i reach 27, or can I do as many as I can in the time frame you finish your example? Thanks again for sharing your work, I’m finding I really enjoy so many of your practices!
Hey!! I been doing this everywhere day for a few weeks now, I also just started the 7 day chakra challenge, took some notes trying a new route on my journey!! One, will doing this daily lead to more mental emotional stability? And two! Is there any chance you can give a brief list of examples to jot down regarding what an over/under active energy center will feel like for each chakra? Thank you lady!!!
Hi Allie, I liked this practice but had a lot of trouble with sacral. I had kundalini awakening without any preconceived idea of what it was as I was raised in Western religious teaching and clearly everything is shrouded in mystery there. Kundalini has been stuck in sacral chakra likely due to childhood trauma and religious teachings about sexuality in general. I look 4 mos pregnant, constant lower back pain, pelvis and leg weakness, constipation and zero libido much to my husbands dismay. How do I clear this entirely? Just keep doing these clearing practices or do you have article specifically for each center?
Thank you so much Allie! I practice yoga for a while, but it was the first time trying kundalini yoga. It felt so different in a good way! I really felt the energy flowing through my body. After the practice, I even felt dizzy, but already balanced! I am glad I found your article and started my kundalini yoga journey with you! Thank you! Sending you love and light! 🙂
Thank you Allie for this wonderful class – I’m starting your 30 day Chakra Yoga Challenge today, 1 Jan 2021, to start the year off powerfully with intention. I’m a yin yoga teacher and I have been following you for a while – it’s always such a pleasure and gift to do your classes. I know you are currently taking some time out to reset and refocus – I look forward to what this year brings and your next wonderful creations. Much love – Gabi
Im new to the whole yoga and chakra thing so i had no idea who to follow or look to for yoga guidance. I accidentally ran into Allie’s yoga a couple days ago and remembering enjoying that session. Today i accidentally ran into her again which is a sign for me so i think i found my yoga instructor. Thank you Allie for helping everyone with emotional balance and manifesting successfully👌🏽.. Good Things!!🙏🏽
Hi Allie hope you’re doing great! 💖💖💖 Thank you so much for your great website your articles are so helpful ✨💕 I had a question actually since I spend most of my days behind a desk I have a back pain (especially in my lower back area) most of the time is it OK if I do this practice or should I do some alternative moves instead? Thanks again and have a great day! 🤩
Now I’m confused… in the one kundalini yoga article I do we are told to breathe in our nose and out of our nose, because it has something to do with anxiety, but in this article I’m seeing you breathe out of your mouth…. when do you breathe out of the nose and when do you not breathe out of your nose?
I was guided to click this after doing your chakra pranayama practice, and I’ll be honest: when I first heard you say the word demons, I was triggered by fear and almost turned it off. But I instead decided to push past the fear, making it powerless, and by the end of the practice, it wasn’t triggering me the way it did before. I trust that I am always protected and there is nothing to be afraid of. Thank you for this. xoxo Bri
This was amazing. THANK YOU. I have been feeling major energetic blocks for a while and a lot of stiffness in my body. I tried other yoga routines and movements that have been helpful in the past but felt only incremental improvement. This is my first time finding you and that made such a huge difference in my body. 🤍🤍🤍❤️❤️❤️💫💫💫✨✨✨💓💓💓
To anyone reading this…please do not attempt kundalini yoga unless you are at least 5-10 years into rigorous yoga (shakti or tantra variants) and meditation practice (on a regular basis). If you are one of the unfortunate ones that manage to light the fuse without the required preparation, it may feel blissful at the onset, but will positively destroy your mind and your body. The energy or prana that is referred to as ‘kundalini’ is extremely potent, volatile and (trust my words) has a mind of its own. Please do yourself a favour and refrain from trying Kundalini yoga or any form of advanced pranayama without proper guidance. It’s safe to say that whatever shown in this article does not qualify as any form of yoga let alone kundalini yoga, so that’s a silver lining, I suppose. At least people won’t be able to unbeknowingly harm themselves with this material. Also fun fact…somewhere in her word salad (which always seems to contain buzzwords such as chakra, energy, cleanse, etc.) she mentions the “kundalini rising to your crown chakra” or something alike. There are probably less than five individuals on the planet today that can help you reach/access the sahasara (crown). Anyone simplifying it for you or telling you that they can is most likely a fraud. Stay away from false gurus. Thanks for reading and take care.
I have one suggestion to make. When you pronounce the names of the Chakra by their ancient sanskrit name then be very precise. My gurudev specifically mentioned that the name for the third eye chakra is Aagya Chakra. Not Ajna. Sanskrit names have vibrations which are very significant to our practice. Om Narayani Namostute.
Thank you so much Allie! I’ve found you 2months ago and OMG the change that i did thanks to you! Physically i’m so much stronger and this practice was just another level of emotional clean out! I feel that at last i can move forward and forgive myself. Past fears cannot hold me back and you are helping me so much. Thank you!xx
This was great! I have been following you for awhile now and love your classes. They are each so different, thorough, spiritual, and peaceful so thank you for the work you are doing in the world! Two questions: 1) What is the symbolism behind the 27 repetitions for each movement? 2) When we are post -COVID, do you have any plans to do another retreat? I would love to put that on my calendar and do my best to attend. Thanks again, Allie!
