Dragon Age: Inquisition is a game known for its use of tarot cards to symbolize different characters. These cards can change based on decisions made, romances taken or untaken, and the ending of the game. Some characters only have one character card, while others have up to four. Tarot cards are used to present codex entries and companions and advisors on the party gather screen.
Varric’s card changes after “Here Lies the Abyss”, regardless of any choices made during the quest. If you complete his personal quest, it becomes his default card. In the inner circle of the Inquisition, companions can have up to four different tarot cards that change depending on game choices. Blackwall’s card is my favorite, as it highlights his struggles feeling like a dead man.
Companions can have up to four different tarot cards depending on player choices. The Iron Bull’s card changes to his romance one in the game, but his card remains the bloody one with him. Tarot cards in Dragon Age: Inquisition are used to present codex entries and companions and advisors on the party gather screen.
The cards change when you fulfill a major quest line for each character, and they also change again when you finish it. Romance cards change after finishing a personal quest, and the red card is his default card.
In summary, Dragon Age: Inquisition uses tarot cards to represent different characters and their fates are not set in stone. Players can change their cards based on decisions made, romances taken or untaken, and the progression of their companions.

📹 7 & 9 Symbolism in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Throughout Dragon Age lore, the numbers 7 and 9 have appeared multiple times. Coincidentally, these numbers are associated …
Those who played the game have confirmed there are choices from all three previous games. But some folks who saw leaks are saying it’s only a handful of choices from Inquisition. There seems to be a contradiction. I will trust the word of those who played the game. Either way, I had fun with my spreadsheet whose template you can download if you want to have fun with it too: binkyproductions.com/gaming/dragonagetheoriespredictions/dragon-age-keep-for-dragon-age-the-veilguard/
Considered I wanted to see companions from Dragon Age II and Zevran from Origins … I would say I cared less about Inquisition choices, as Inquisition is set in Orlais-Ferelden, then about Dragon Age II choices considered Kirkwall is right over there in Free Marches. Even some choices from II like fate of Feynriel. One of ends is that he is dreamer now studying in Tevinter after all. We’re going to Tevinter so he should be there.
sadly I don’t think we got many or any choices for DAO-Da2 . Many of us worry about this. There are some leaked screen from DATV DAI part of world state and the situation is very grim… hopefully it is under development ( I mean the CC keep part) so in the final we got more options but 1 month.. sooo yeah… :/
That’s the thing I am worried about on how they will implement choices from Origins and II from The Veilguard Keep. I’m assuming the Keep is not even finished according to some people and John Epler in interviews says that they will focusing on “important choices” from Origins and II. I assume the Origins and II romances are important especially since a lot of people want the Morrigan romance to be acknowledged, which side did Hawke choose at the end of Act 3 is important, if the warden is alive or not is important and the Dark Ritual choice I assume is very important especially on how that choice affected Inquisition hugely.
the choices make me wonder is there stll article reveals coming with cassandra and dorian. They showed morrigan, i would say dorian and cassandra hopefully make appearances. In my dai’s solas was friend always to be saved, and josephine my inky’s love, and cassandra was the divine, mlst the time inquisition downsized. But what about if ig wasn’t hawke but blondie was father of morrigan’s son. And theres the unknown regardless of father how the old god kid plays into this.
I’ve seen a lot of people getting very upset about this on various places online. Origins, II and DA:I being condensed down to 3 choices is pretty pathetic to be fair. Although my hype was already very low, and my expectations lower after what I’ve seen from the game thus far, this infomation has robbed my remaining optimism. Sad.
even if you cut down the choices drastically I can’t believe they couldn’t at least include a mention of your previous protagonists… maybe through dialogue with Varric. Just to give you a sense of connection. it would be a simple scene to do. and the choice of the Well?? how is that not relevant it’s the most relevant choice literally. Evanuris are back and both Inky and Morrigan are in the game 🙁 not to mention callback on charactered like Zevran.. who should deff be there because of the Crows. also Fenris as he was part of the comics and characters from the are in this game and he woudl totally fit. Loghain and Alistair choices should also matter with Warden involvement. all these things.. and by proxy the characters obviously.. abandoned 🙁
I respect your enthusiasm for Dragon Age and your dedication to providing quality content. I was going to post a reply today but I didn’t have enough time. I was going to guess, 1. Who drank? 2. Who’s Divine? And 3. Redeem or stop by any means? Well, I am sad to report that according to Kala Elizabeth, there are only three. 1. Who was romanced? 2. Keep or disband? 3. Redeem or stop by any means. AND the Inquisitor might not even be able to show off his or her class. Meaning, there is no option to set the Inquisitor as a warrior, mage, or rogue. Wow. All those plot threads, gone in a puff of smoke. BioWare does not respect our past choices, and neither will Veilguard give Rook any good options in this game. >:(
I’m also noticing some number 4 symbolism. Primal, Creation, Spirit, and Entropy are the FOUR schools of acceptable magic in Origins. You have FOUR allied forces to battle the Blight. Dragon Age 2 has FOUR chapters, counting the prologue. Bethany, Carver, Isabela, and either Anders or Sebastian make FOUR companions you will lose access to in DA2. There are FOUR potential Divine Victorias as Softened and Hardened Leliana are practically two different people.
Also, in numerology and astrology 7 is associated with Saturn and 9 with Neptune. Number nine is associated with the higher power – divinity, gods, etc. Also, mystery and secrets. I used to dabble in astrology when I was younger, not so much these days. P.S. Alright, I want this game for my birthday – September 27.
There are only 3 Forgotten Ones. But if you add the 4 Forbidden Ones, you get 7. But Solas didn’t seal the Forbidden Ones. Other than that, I think the article is accurate. But I had a question about Rook. Was there an official statement about Rook being the Chariot card, or was this your deduction from the Rook Title article about the chess rook being represented by a chariot?
