Is It Wise To Combine Different Tarot Card Sets?

The Tarot has over three thousand different two-card combinations, making it challenging for beginners to memorize their meanings. However, learning how to connect the Tarot cards and create meaningful card combinations can significantly improve the quality of your readings. To work with Tarot card combinations, first select a pair or group of Tarot cards and develop the meaning and interpretation for those cards when combined.

Memorizing the meanings of each card can be overwhelming, but understanding how to link Tarot cards is crucial for providing insightful readings. Some readers prefer to shuffle their cards by spreading them out on a table or flat surface and using their hands to mix them around. Mixing Oracle and Tarot decks can boost intuition and help create richer, more holistic readings.

In real-life events, using multiple decks in tarot readings provides layers of meaning and many windows for interpretation. The act of mixing the cards reminds a person that they are truly engaging in a tarot consultation and it’s okay. The Magician from the Gilded tarot and the Hermit are favorites for this purpose.

When choosing a Tarot reading, stick to it as it ultimately leads to the same interpretation. Combining decks that address the same genre or themes can also be beneficial. For example, healing decks can be mixed and matched with Oracle decks to add depth to the cards.

In conclusion, understanding how to connect Tarot cards and create meaningful card combinations can significantly improve the quality of your Tarot readings.

Is it OK to pull tarot cards for yourself?

Tarot readings can be done by beginners, providing insight into current situations, honoring intuition, and forecasting potential outcomes. To begin, clean the energy of your space by burning herbs, ringing bells or chimes, taking a bath, or using crystals. A Selenite wand is a popular energy refresher that aids clarity.

Sit comfortably and close your eyes, focusing on the protective energy surrounding you. Take deep breaths, think about your question or needing guidance, and keep your mind and heart open to the answers that may come through the cards. Shuffle the deck, focusing on your desired query, and shuffle the cards in front of you. The pattern laid out is called a “spread”, and the meaning of each card in combinations builds up to the overall answer to your query.

Before beginning to shuffle, know which spread you will be working with. As answers come through, it’s important to draw additional cards for further clarity or start with a new question from a different perspective. Tarot readings can be a powerful tool for personal growth and understanding.

Which is the strongest Tarot card?

The Fool is a card in tarot games, not part of the Major Arcana. In most games, the Fool is independent of both plain suit cards and trump cards, and does not belong to either category. Tarot decks originally made for game playing do not assign a number to the Fool indicating its rank in the suit of trumps. The Fool is one of the most valuable cards in almost all tarot games.

In tarot games originating from Italy and France, the Fool has a unique role, sometimes called “the Excuse”. In these games, the player excuses the player from following suit or playing a trump. At the end of the trick, the player takes back the Fool and adds it to their trick pile, giving the trick’s winner the least valuable card from that same pile. If there are no cards to give in exchange, the Fool is worth one point less and an extra point is given to the trick-taker.

In a minor variant option of French tarot, a player dealt trump 1 but with no other trumps or the Fool can make trump 1 behave the same as the Fool. In official tournament rules, a player in this situation must declare their hand and force a redeal.

What is the luckiest card in the Tarot?

The Wheel of Fortune is a card in a tarot deck, the tenth trump or Major Arcana card. It is used in game playing and divination. The Rider-Waite tarot deck, developed by A. E. Waite, is a key figure in the development of the tarot and forms the basis for many modern decks. According to Waite’s 1910 book Pictorial Key to the Tarot, the Wheel of Fortune card carries several divinatory associations.

Is it OK to shuffle tarot cards?

When acquiring a new tarot deck, it is essential to thoroughly shuffle the cards to ensure they are in order. The most common method is to place the deck on the floor and smoosh them around, then pick them up and start shuffling. Some experts suggest keeping the cards with you for a week to tune them into your energy and vibration, while others prefer spending extra time shuffling them. One common technique is the overhand shuffle, where you place the deck in one hand and release a section of cards at a time into the opposite hand until the cards are mixed up.

How do I cleanse my tarot cards?

To clear a deck, one must first place the cards face-down on a table, then proceed to “smoosh” them together. Finally, the cards must be gathered back into a deck. The deck should be rapped on and the knuckles pressed into it. It should then be left overnight in the light of a full moon, and purified by passing it through smoke from cleansing incense.

Are you supposed to separate tarot cards?

Before starting a tarot reading, remove any extra cards from the deck, including blank or instructional cards. Separate the Major and Minor Arcana to better understand the different cards. There’s no specific amount or type of shuffling needed, and the space required depends on the spread. Some spreads require a small surface for a few cards, while others require more space for a circle. Match the reading surface to the purpose for a reading, whether it’s a personal reading or for friends or entertainment. There’s no right or wrong way to choose a reading spot, and there’s no rule that it should be the same place twice. Feel free to move around if it’s comfortable for you.

  • Thank you for doing this, Sylvie. It was super fun to watch, your voice is so calming. I love how you just trusted your instinct on choosing the cards. I have definitely done this kind of deck “face off” before, but I’ve never put them together as a whole new deck to use! Such a great idea. I thought your deck interview revealed that this would be a supportive and nurturing deck for you to use, especially if the weakest energy is divine masculine support.

  • That was fun. I admit I picked Grimalkins Cats the most but I have it. In fact, it was my first tarot deck! I did love a lot of the Guardian of the Night. I love killer wales but then Forhaxa sweeps the cups!! I loved that suit! 🧜‍♀️ . Yes, I disagreed with The World. Grimalkin Cats for win! ☺️. I thought the Night Guardian with the bee could have been the moon card. I love the cat holding up the globe like a trophy. Jmho! 😊

  • Excellent article! Love a good deck face off. I love animals but what’s funny is I don’t own many animal themed decks. I do love MJ’s decks, own a few, but I’m actually trying to expand,my collection just a teensy bit more. It’s between Foragers daughter which is a mixture of animal & fauna or Oak Ash & Thorn. Which out of the two would you recommend to add to my collection? I’m always curious about others opinions and I do like knowing especially when it’s a person, such as yourself, who’s website I do watch and very much enjoy. 🙂
