Major kraken fan and massively upset by this decision and performance, took over a year and they couldn’t make a article or anything to introduce him with, if they did some well done animation of him lurking “in the deep” of the building and flipped his smile around it might have worked. Besides that most everyone wouldn’t have a clue that trolls have some sort of history to the region if they didn’t tell you, so it feels forced just to sell dolls to little girls. Honestly ANY nautical themed thing would make more sense to any outsider, hell a shipping container would make more sense and might be more fun to watch in a giant box suit.
This mascot is lame but that is kind of what happens in the NHL. Mascots themselves are lame and they are there to entertain the kids. No kid though is going to go to a sporting event for the mascot. There is only so much a mascot can do to entertain dance around a bit? Maybe a cartwheel when there is room? I have a 10 year old nephew and we went to a Oilers game through the whole game he just waned me to make faces and play games with him he didn’t watch the game at all. I know when I was a kid sitting through a whole hockey game was hard to do without getting bored. No mascot would change that.
