You provided a great list of some of the BEST resources on Enochiana and Dr. Dee and Edward Kelly. Enochian Magck is a powerful tool. Powerful tools can be dangerous. A gun is a powerful tool. It can provide protection and sustenance and a feeling of safety and security. It can be used to commit crimes and mass murders. It can be used to commit suicide. Enochian Magick is much the same. It has no built in restrictions on how it’s used. An ignorant or bad intentioned user can get in to or cause serious trouble for themselves and / or others. On the other hand I have participated in Enochian Temples with groups of knowledgeable practitioners that have had good effect.
I break Enochian down into five categories. I would side with the interpretation that the receiving it and those who practice it after did or could have their own apocalypse. We can say the transmission was the ceremonial magick version of continuing and refining what came before in experience. I have only edited a few articles, partly because it is about a magical view in real life. I find that if a person is going to go beyond fundamentals, it should be based around the universal material in one’s own way. The original material gave a lot of leeway towards that.
The thing I’ve most seen is that the Enochian within the HoGD is what tends to give Enochian its bad rap as dangerous. It’s a lot of internal work, within the 30 aethers. Perhaps it’s the efficacy of the GD’s innovations on the system that allow those not ready to accidentally touch things they weren’t yet prepared for, or maybe it’s a mistake within the system that creates the imbalance. I’ve seen good work with the sort of Dee purism of Frater RC, however.
i can’t remember if it was this vid where you spoke of bartzabel evoking but the ‘possessed subject’ sounded very interesting–i’m sure it was compelling or this would have not made so much an impact on you. i have seen the online DISPLAYS of this ritual but there are no close ups so i couldn’t really read a face or walk away w/a deep sense of what went on–the ‘pdf’ of crowley’s ritual speaks of ‘faces appearing in smoke or ether’ on the magician’s altar, so i always assumed this was where the ‘appearance’ took place. maybe i’m wrong. the ritual ends w/an instruction of how to shut down the ritual if there are no results. i just finished reading j e cornelius’s seminal ‘enochian & the ouija board’ masterpiece & am ready to perform this magic w/someone, have always had results w/ouija boards–seems a no brainer to me that this would work, already have the table/cloth/basement set up . . .
It’s too complicated as a system of magic for me, a teacher would be useful, but the Calls are v interesting. They remind me of The book of the Law in a way, where you get the ‘jist ’ of the meaning, but wont know what it all means (also Liber Al vel Legis went through the filter of Crowley). The Calls are interesting wrt the system of heaven, but they are still going through the filter of D&K, and it’s beyond full understanding. Some bits are funny, ‘she is the bed of an harlot and the dwelling place of him that is fallen’. The Calls draw the attention of heaven and I’m sure they forgive terrible pronunciation. X
