The Aqua Rite Salt System Calibration Procedure?

To calibrate the salt reading on a Hayward AquaRite, first ensure the salt cell is clean. Slide the main switch from “Auto” to “Off” while the pump is running, then switch back to “Auto”. Press the diagnostics button five times to display instant salinity. The number on the display will start high and begin to go down.

If the salt level on the Hayward AquaRite does not match the actual salt level of the pool, the system requires calibration. Use a reliable salt water test kit to determine the salt level in the water. If the test strip results do not match the AquaRite readings, the system requires calibration.

This video provides a step-by-step guide on re-calibrating salt readings on a Hayward AquaRite Salt Generator. The video describes the Display Readings on a Hayward Aqua Rite Salt Chlorine Generator (SCG) and links to a series of guides that tell you to adjust or recalibrate some of these values, including average.

With the pump running, move the main switch from “Auto” to “Off” and then back to “Auto”. Wait for approximately 10 – 15 seconds for a click inside the panel. With the filter pump running, switch the Controller power switch down to the “Off” position and back up to “Auto”. You should hear a click within 10 or 15 seconds.

  • Aqua Rite average salt level is – 0. The board is readingcheck salt inspect cell, repeatedly, but not blinking. The unit is 7 years old and I just successfully replaced fhe thermistor. The unit had beed running for a couple of weeks. The salt level is 2800ppm. Water balance is 7.6ph. I’ll be floating 1″ tabs to keep the algae away!

  • This information is not correct. This is not a recalibration. This will only set the “average” salt reading (salinity level) to the “instant” reading. If left alone long enough, the average salt reading will automatically become equal to the instant salt level. Moving the switch from AUTO to SUPER CHLORINATE will do it right away. If your salt reading is incorrect to begin with, then the instant reading will also be incorrect as will the average reading, so there is no point in doing this.

  • I have a new salt cell (T-3). We had to buy it after realizing our old one wasn’t producing chlorine and our pool company was just dumping more and more salt into our 7500 gallon pool. When I test the salt level, it’s over 5000, and the first 3 days with the new cell it said HI and we were doing our best to empty water and fill fresh water. Today it is still over 5000 but when I recalibrate the box, it stays at 2000 and then it tells us to inspect cell……I know there is too much salt and it’s not producing chlorine as we had to shock the pool to get the water blue again because it’s been black since the day after our Saturday party, today is Friday. Please help

  • This does not work for me. My salt is way too high, but after installing a new salt cell, the Aqua Rite kept showing as “Hi” for the salt which was true. Now that is almost back to being low enough to make chlorine, it say it is 1700 which is way lower than it is. It about 4,800 and should be 3,200. So when I try to reset it, it starts at 1900 and moves down to 1700; low salt, check cell. So it never goes near what the true number is. I am hoping that when the salt gets down closer to 3,200 if will work. Who knows. But I am wasting water and refilling to get there. Slow process when it has not rained for weeks and no sign of rain for another week.
