The Odinic Rite: What Is It?

The Odinic Rite is an international organization dedicated to promoting the ancient indigenous beliefs of Northern European peoples, specifically Odinism. This polytheistic religion is based on the spiritual beliefs and practices of the ancient Norse people who lived in Scandinavia and other parts of Northern Europe. The organization defines Odinism as “the natural religion of the peoples of Northern Europe”.

Odinism is a polytheistic religious system that emphasizes the reverence of past ancestors, the acknowledgment of archaic wisdom contained in mythological tales, and the Nine Noble Virtues (NNV) or 9NV. These moral and situational ethical guidelines are typically those with folkish views. The Odinic Rite (OR) is a reconstructionist religious organization named after the god Odin and conceives itself as a “folkish” Heathen movement concerned with the preservation of the ancestral religion.

As a white supremacist organization, the Odinic Rite limits membership to white individuals, holding the belief in Heathenry as the ancestral religion. The organization aims to promote all aspects of Odinism, the modern expression of the organic spiritual beliefs of the indigenous peoples of Northern Europe.

The Odinic Rite (OR) is a pagan religion devoted to the Scandinavian gods, influenced by Else Christensen’s Odinist Fellowship. The organization’s watch-words are “Fath, Folk, Family”, which summarize its ideals well.

So for this video, we’re looking at The Wisdom of Odin and some statements that he has made both in the past and recently …

What does Odin symbolize?

Odin, a war god, was revered in heroic literature as the protector of heroes and the god of poets. He was associated with runes and was known for his magical horse, Sleipnir, which had eight legs, teeth inscribed with runes, and the ability to gallop through the air and over the sea. Odin was also the god of poets and was often depicted as a tall, old man with a flowing beard and only one eye, usually wearing a cloak, a wide-brimmed hat, and carrying a spear.

What is odinic rite history?

The Odinic Rite (OR) is a Scandinavian pagan religion founded in 1973 in England under the name “Committee for the Restoration of the Odinic Rite / Odinist Committee”. It has chapters in France, Germany, and North America, and individual members spread across many countries. The OR has legal status in the United Kingdom, Australia, and various states in the United States. The basic unit of the OR is the “Hearth”, a group of adherents who gather to perform ceremonies called Blóts or Blotar to honor their deities and ancestors.

However, a large proportion of the members are lone practitioners. The motto of the OR is “Faith, Folk and Family”. The OR and its German chapter’s websites have a disclaimer stating they are unpolitical.

Who is Odin in Christianity?

Odin, the king of the gods, was associated with war and the dead, ruling over the death realm Valhall. He is known by over 200 names, including “the masked one”, “terrible/ugly one”, and “horsehair-moustache”. Odin had shamanistic qualities, sacrificing one eye for wisdom and hanging himself from Yggdrasill for nine nights to learn runes. His Old English name is preserved in Wednesday: Wōden’s day.

What is the Odinic Rite of Vinland?

The Odinic Rite (OR) is a white supremacist religious organization named after the god Odin, focusing on Germanic paganism, mythology, folklore, and runes. It is a white supremacist organization that limits membership to white individuals and believes in Heathenry as the ancestral religion of the Indo-European race. The term “Odinism” was first used by Scottish writer, historian, and philosopher Thomas Carlyle in 1841, and Orestes Brownson in 1848.

The term was reintroduced in the late 1930s by Australian fascist Alexander Rud Mills, who formulated his own unique blend of Ariosophy and drew heavily on the writings of Austrian Ariosophist and Wotanist Guido von List. Mills’ ideology focused on the “British race”, a group who he believed also inhabited other parts of the world colonised by the British Empire. He believed that while Christianity was alien to the “British race”, Odinism was “native” and could be better understood by them.

Mills was critical of Christianity, believing it was “unnatural” because it encouraged breaking down racial barriers. He believed that the Norse gods were symbols of the divine rather than actual anthropomorphic entities, and each racial group had its own symbolic system for interpreting and understanding divinity. Odin represented an archetypal father figure, with other deities from Norse mythology playing minor roles.

What do the Odin religion believe in?

The Odin Brotherhood is an ancient religion that acknowledges gods through thought, courage, honor, light, and beauty. As hard polytheists, they believe that gods and goddesses are distinct entities, not psychological archetypes or personifications of natural forces. They call these deities the Aesir and the Vanir, and believe that no single entity controls all realities. The Odin Brotherhood does not have buildings or churches, but aims to honor the gods everywhere, as long as outsiders are excluded.

Words are whispered and all “abominations” are avoided. The central rite of the brotherhood is the “Glimpse-Of-Extraordinary-Beauty”, where celebrants believe they are enveloped and penetrated by the thoughts of a god.

What did Vikings call America?

What did Vikings call America?

Vinland, the land of wild grapes in North America, was visited and named by Leif Eriksson around 1000 CE. The exact location of Vinland is unknown, but it is likely the area surrounding the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in what is now eastern Canada. Two Norse sagas, Grænlendinga saga (“Saga of the Greenlanders”) and Eiríks saga rauða (“Erik the Red’s Saga”), provide detailed information about Viking visits to Vinland.

According to the Grænlendinga saga, Bjarni Herjólfsson became the first European to sight mainland North America when his Greenland-bound ship was blown westward off course about 985. He then sailed along the Atlantic coastline of eastern Canada and returned to Greenland.

Leif Eriksson, son of Erik the Red, led a crew of 35 men to try to find the land sighted by Bjarni. They encountered an icy barren land called Helluland, a flat wooded land called Markland, and a warmer, morehospitable area called Leifsbúðir. They found fine lumber and wild grapes, leading them to name the land Vinland (“Land of Wine”).

Leif’s brother Thorvald led an expedition to Vinland and spent two years there before dying in a skirmish with Native inhabitants. Thorstein tried to return to Greenland, but storms kept him away. Thorfinn Karlsefni, an Icelandic trader, led another expedition to Vinland, but by the time they stayed three years, trade with the local Indigenous people turned into warfare, so the colonists gave up and returned to Greenland.

In Eiríks saga rauða, Leif is the accidental discoverer of Vinland, and Thorfinn Karlsefni and his wife Gudrid are credited with all subsequent exploration.

Does anyone still worship Odin?

The recently inaugurated Norse God temple, Asatru, in Reykjavik represents a singular occurrence in the span of a millennium. Its objective is to exemplify Viking culture and venerate the deities Odin, Thor, and Freia. It is evident that a considerable number of devoted adherents evince profound pride in their cultural heritage.

Does Vinland still exist?

Does Vinland still exist?

Icelandic literature tells the story of the Norse settlements in Greenland and Vinland, now known as L’Anse aux Meadow. The story is told in two sagas, the Saga of Eric the Red and the Saga of the Greenlanders. There is some matching of the details in the two sagas, but there are also discrepancies between the two versions. For decades, there was considerable uncertainty as to whether the Vinland story was based on fact or purely fictional.

An unsuccessful search for remnants of the Vinland settlement was based on the belief that the “vin” in Vinland referred to grapes and wine, which focused the search much farther south than Newfoundland.

The finding of the ruins of the Vinland settlement came from the skillful deductions of Norwegian scholar Helge Ingstad and his wife Anne Stine Ingstad. They believed that the “vin” of Vinland referred to meadows rather than grapes and wine, and that the settlement must be at an unmistakable location. Ingstad and his expedition searched for ruins in the northern peninsula of Newfoundland, specifically in L’Anse aux Meadow, which is a mixed French and English name meaning the Bay of Meadow.

What rituals do Odinists do?

What rituals do Odinists do?

Odinists, who worship ancient Norse gods like Thor and Odin, often wear pendants of Thor’s hammer and engage in rituals in the woods, drinking mead, reading poetry, and occasionally slaughtering animals. These white supremacists find Odinism’s themes of revenge and action more appealing than Christianity, which was their former religion. They believe they are fighting against white genocide and “love thy neighbor” is weak in comparison to a religion that rewards warriors for their noble cause.

Daniel Burnside, a white supremacist Odinist from Potter County, Pennsylvania, believes that many people seeking Odinism are seeking the idea of “do you want to be the nail, or do you want to be the hammer?”

How tall were Vikings?

Historical records and archaeological findings indicate that Viking males were typically 5’8″ tall and weighed around 170 pounds, while women were generally shorter at 5’3″ and weighed around 135 pounds.

Does Odinism practice human sacrifice?

It is a common misconception that Odinism involves human sacrifice. In fact, although some individuals may commit murders due to their beliefs, they are not considered to be ritual sacrifices.

  • I’ve never considered myself to be a FAN of WoO, but I subscribed to his website and watched most of his articles. The bigger his community grows, the more it gives off the feeling of turning more and more into a cult. I wasn’t able to put my finger on it, but perusal his content gave me very mixed feelings. After perusal this article, I will unsubscribe WoO immediately and will share this message. This is so so so important! Thank you for putting this together!!

  • I am a Black American veteran in his 50’s that has always since I was a child viewed the All-Father as the face of God. I am the 5th generation of a family of Soldiers that has served in all our wars since the civil war. After perusal your article’s and hearing the wisdom of your thoughts I have decided to subscribe to your website.

  • So, new pagan here. Only reason I know of WoO is because the YT algorithm put him front and center in my feed. I personally found him a little too, woo woo for lack of a better term. Some information seemed ok but I kept searching being new to paganism and also being someone that likes to read and absorb information. As I’ve learned more I think WoO is just doing this for cash. Which by itself, ok whatever, but coupled with the AFA stuff and the seemingly predatory behavior of new pagans who are vulnerable as new pagans and will latch onto whatever “nice” face gets presented in front of them. And I think thats what this dude is doing, presenting a nice face and exploiting the vulnerable to get money while hiding his toxic behavior. Edit: I want to say thank you Ocean for being a reliable source of information. I like the historical approach of what I have seen so far. I feel I have some differing political views but nothing that couldn’t be talked over and I get the feeling you’d be down for that if we were in a situation we were talking one on one about it. Regardless, I appreciate your work. What I have seen so far.

  • I used to follow Jacob when he first started the website. He gave a warm welcome to the new people coming into heathenry while also putting a smile on my face. It hurts to have to turn my back on the dude but well, Cult leader vibes. All though I do hope he manages to see past his blindness as well as the toxic people around him.

  • OK could someone answer this question for me! I live with a Christian and a Jewish roommate I’ve had many conversations about religion and recently we’ve had quite a few conversations about the AFA due to them being in the news more. My Jewish roommate lived in Israel for many years and she had an interesting perspective on the AFA saying that you can’t truly follow “Asatru” unless you are of northern European decent.. she pointed out that many Jewish people look down or don’t really consider you a true member of the Jewish tribe if you convert because membership in the tribe is solely based of your decent. She also brought up how Hasidic Jews generally don’t allow marriage outside of the tribe. She also said that she believes she has a deeper connection with her god because she can trace her family back to the 12 original tribes. So my question is this..why is it acceptable for other religions or cultures to allow or not allow conversion based on ethnicity or decent but when it comes to a Northern European religion it is considered deplorable. If you are Jewish or Muslim you can usually trace your heritage back to the 12 tribes or Muhammad (ie the Saudi royalty) however many northern Europeans are also able to trace their family back to the royal family’s of northern Europe (ie the Danish and Swedish royalty trace their liniage back to King Gorm the Old who claimed decent from the Volsung tribe which in turn we are told by the Saga of the Volsungs was decended from Odin.) So again where do we draw the line with what is OK and what is not acceptable?

  • This honestly breaks my heart. I thought I finally found a group like his community to worship and practice with and I guess I didn’t. Being in his discord and all that I still felt like I didn’t fit in and some of the things being said gave a cult like feel to it. The group gatherings, the membership, a fundraiser for a hall, and so much more. Don’t get me wrong I would love to attend those but it felt like a mini hierarchy was forming and it felt weird to me. It felt like I was back in the Mormon church, paying to worship and exist with my heathen family. Thank you for this and I’m kicking myself for not seeing this article sooner

  • I just came across this article and have been perusal your website to get a better understanding of norse heathenry (my boyfriend is a heathen and is actually on your discord server). I greatly appreciate this article as one of the things that made me, as a Jewish person, incredibly nervous when my SO started exploring heathenry was the ties it has had to the alt right. He actually told me about this article and I’ve come to see so many heathens speaking out about the AFA and it’s put me so much at ease. I also just want to be as supportive as I can.

  • As a lifelong atheist who has recently been teetering on the edge of finding some form of faith stumbling across your articles while searching for intersectional pagans, I really can’t thank you more for making your stances on racism, nationalism, homophobia, and responsibility to your community so clearly and firmly stated. So, seriously, thank you so very much. I’m glad I came across your website.

  • Well damn. Ocean’s got an intimidating streak to him. He’s usually so calming that I didn’t see that coming. It was a necessary point though. While unity is a largely good thing, there are some people you just can’t afford to unify with as is. Besides, bigotry is inherently exclusionary. Unifying with them in excluding everyone they are bigoted against. Thank you Ocean. As a minority myself, it means lot to see you take a stand for us. ❤

  • It’s really nice to find a creator who has addressed this so directly. I don’t mean Wisdom of Odin, I mean the whole concept of race and acceptance in the community. Involving myself in this community I was given a word of warning to stay on high alert for the predatory and problematic sides of the religion, and thus far you’re the only person who has taken the (correct) stance of acceptance within the community. Thanks.

  • I have been apart of the Heathen community for a year now and for the last two months I was a Patreon member of Wisdom of Odin. I was blinded by the need for a community and did not pick up on the way Jacob talked and how he discussed certain topics until I was shown Aliakai’s article about 3 days ago. I then began looking at your articles along with Red the Wolf. I thank you for this information because I was introduced to Heathenry when I worked in corrections and saw it used as a white supremacists movement. I have worked very hard this last year when I told people I was Heathen to make sure they understood that I support all sexual orientations and races because I would be asked about that alot when people found out about my path in the old ways. So again thank you for the information and I look forward to obtaining more knowledge from open minded Heathens.

  • I was apart of WoO patreon and discord for a few months before one day I cancelled everything and left without a word. I have never personally spoken to Jacob but there is a vibe in his groups and with his content that is very specific. I felt like I had to follow Jacob’s path of paganism to fit in. If you aren’t in the clique then what you have to say is overlooked and I was left feeling degraded and confused. Luckily I’ve been sucked into spiritual blackholes before and pulled myself out pretty easy but I can imagine that new pagans and lonely practitioners really let this type of thing flood their mind. It’s a sticky situation that’s for sure

  • This seriously makes me angry. I’m a naturalist atheist. But that’s just me. I was SO close to being a full blown anti-theist. I wanted to say “all religion is bad. Nothing good comes from it!” But then I found you. Aliaki. Wolf the red. Calon. And it softened me. It helped me. And I love perusal ya’lls content. I love learning about what you believe. You’ve thought through it, you’ve discussed it, and discovered something. I know we’ll differ on just what you discovered but you have it! And it occasionally makes me pause and think “you know, there might be something to this whole god(s) thing after all.” But folkists, and WoO and the AFA come in and try really hard to destroy that. They make it SO easy for an angry atheist to point to them and say “see? Paganism isn’t any better than Christianity or Islam! Paganism still makes people stupid sheep that want to kill in the name of their religion too!!” These people and their actions are not only dangerous to social progress. Not only create fertile ground for potential violence. Not only dangerous to frith and pagan unity. It is also dangerous to the growth of paganism itself. For both outreach so paganism as a whole will be considered and respected, but also bringing new pagans into a safe and accepting religion where they feel comfortable and free to be who they are with the blessing of their gods. I am certain that if I found a folkist or WoO instead of you, I’d be an angry anti-theist today. And that’s not OK. I don’t know how much I can do or how much it matters, but you have my support in getting rid of these people.

  • I’m still a bit of a Heathen hatchling right now, and I started my research and experience in the community through woo and I became a patron and signed up for the yule gathering but as of recent I’ve been discovering articles left and right exposing woo and his community, thank you for opening my eyes to the truth about woo and leading me to canceling my patron subscription and leaving his discord server

  • Didn’t really have much of an opinion of the guy (only seen maybe 5 of his articles) but I’m glad this is being brought up. At least the Youtube algorithm is finally recommended websites from more communities of Heathens. Prior to this I had no idea your website existed. I look forward to seeing more from your website.

  • Thank you for this eye opening WoO was the first hethan content website I came across well I was referred to them by a friend. Anyway I’m glad to be here to experiance your content. I find the structer of your articles and the way you speak to be quite captivating and well thought out and organized. Thank you for the information ocean.

  • Has a new Pagan and someone who has struggled with Christianity and also as someone who really is not white at all, I know I have mostly Hispanic heritage but I have never taken to it and I have honestly always loved the Pagan Outlook compared to Christianity. Have always been terrified of Gatekeepers so it’s nice to see people open about sharing their own Heritage and beliefs

  • Not going to lie, when I first stepped into this faith, I wasn’t too fond of you because I had already been a pretty strong follower of Jacob’s website, having been inclined to watch his articles as I entered Heathenry. So, seeing this article a while back was somewhat dampening on my introduction to Heathenry, but as I have grown out of that honeymoon phase of things, my perspectives have changed and I find myself more like-minded to you than a lot of others I see and I have come to see Jacob or The Wisdom of Odin as what they really are. So, thank you.

  • Not sure how I’m just now finding your website, but your work here is probably the best thing I’ve yet seen on all things Heathen. As a fellow traveler on the path of Odin, I really can’t express to you how happy it makes me to see our shared beliefs explained and explored in such an in depth and researched manner. I especially applaud you for your lack of bullshit in addressing how Norse Paganism intersects with the material world, both politcally, socially and morally. Your head-on take downs of those who would pervert our faith to serve thier own outside agendas is something sorely needed, and it’s a true pleasure to see it done so very well. May the gods smile on you and your continuing work.

  • OK, I’ve got an honest hard question… I’ve never been to a group blot, but I’ve been a practicing pagan for about 2yrs now. Why can’t all of us just be fine with our ancestors? Why do my “white” germanic ancestors matter, to anyone else but me? If your “black”, are your ancestors not just as important to you? Whatever you are, wherever your from, is important, because it’s what you come from. Can we not all respect that and praise that idea. And give reverence to all ancestors? Why does one have to be more “true” than the other to some people?? Why the comparison? You do you and I do me, and we respect each other when we meet for dinner or blót, what’s so hard about that?

  • Late to the party but you really need to be front and centre I think. I’ve dabbled in Heathenry/Norse paganism since I was a teen and have recently started deep-diving into it more devotedly, and it’s painful as hell thinking you’ve found something refreshing and ‘clean’ only to see it dance around the ugly aspects of this religion with no clear position one way or the other. So I thank you for being firm and straightforward, because it’s what a lot of new Heathens really do need to see. 100% subscribed to you my man, keep up the good work. Skal.

  • I’ve listened to his podcast and I enjoy a lot of his articles for the information that they provide. At the same time his podcast really kind of reeked of pretentiousness especially when I heard how they just bashed Tyr followers while providing no meaningful information about Tyr himself outside of a couple of personal experiences of the guests and some very basic information. Context – I’m very new to this faith and I’m learning everyday. Jacob’s articles have helped me in regards to books I should read as well as given me some perspective on the Gods. But I definitely get the vibe that he is the type who may or may not (for lack of a better way of putting it) “Believe his own bullshit.” After seeing this article it confirmed a lot of bad vibes I was getting especially from listening to his podcast and in fact raised some serious red flags about him that I never picked up on.

  • I found WoO during the beginning of the covid lockdown. I watch quite a bit of his articles and followed him on IG. My lockdown only lasted a short time and perusal YouTube fell off the importance list. I recently started back up and WOW!!! I clearly missed a lot!! I had no idea! But like another commentator said, the larger his community has grown, the creepier the vibes get

  • New guy here. Thank you for bringing this to us. I’ve been binging on WoO the past week. I wish I remember which one, but I recall a article where he was speaking at a school or somewhere. I’ll try not to misquote. He said a black woman asked him if she could become pegan despite being African American. He says he told her something to the effect of, religion is something usually past down from our ancestors, but if she felt a calling to the gods, then who is he to say no and that she should go for it. Perhaps Jacob is falling victim to the old “a friend to all is a friend to none.” Either to make a buck or to not rock the boat.

  • I’ve been a heathen for many years and just recently had WoO pop up on my instagram. I thought why not and tried to watch his articles, but I couldn’t finish one. Something about them just rubbed me wrong, it reminded me of the feeling I would get when I would go to church, one man trying so hard to come off kind and full of knowledge but with something darker within. Well, it would seem the Gods were trying to warn me, as more and more I find is disturbing to say the least. Thank you for confirming what I was feeling, as an openly queer pagan, the AFA gtfo.

  • I’m new and just learning, about Norse Paganism so finding a community I thought would be a very good idea. I had started listening to the podcast (the wisdom of Odin), I was into the 8th podcast and each podcast something just felt weird/off like there was something more I couldn’t explain it. I also watched a few articles of his and felt the same way. Then the other day I jumped on YouTube and this article and another about him was the first few articles on my feed. So that definitely wasn’t a coincidence. So thank y’all for sharing.

  • As a fresh convert I went online and found a nice group on facebook, it was really nice group of wholesome people and they told me all this nice stuff about the religion end how I could be a better heathen… And also that a guy that wanted to join from vietnam was a “wanna be” and needs to “worship his people’s religion”… It was at that moment I knew… I FUCKED UP. Got the hell out of that fb group and started googling shit to find out that there was a divide and found some decent people who aren’t racist white supremacists.

  • I’m really glad I found this article and your website. I’m a deconstructing Christian who’s felt a pretty strong pull towards this religion multiple times. One of those times I did a rather shallow search for paganism and Wisdom of Odin was front and center. I even thought I did enough searching to confirm that he wasn’t aligned with anything shady. Thankfully people such as yourself have their own website.

  • wow!As a Brazilian pagan I am truly happy to see that you (being one of my favorite websites on the Nordic theme) are against these racist views that, unfortunately, are so common in this kind of religion. thought Anyway, thanks for being one of the good-heathens out there and bringing good info for us. sorry for bad english lol

  • I am a new member into heathenry and I’m also European and I can say that thank the gods that I found this article cause I was perusal the other guy’s articles for introductions into this faith. I think the main goal of Norse paganism or Asatru is that we accept everyone that wants to be part of it . These guys should completely abandon the faith cause they’re making excuses to be racist. This is about tolerance and respect not violence and racist behavior 😢

  • As mixed race person I find this all facilitating. It should be added for fairness that his Holiness the Dali Lama said Europe is for Europeans and should help others get empowered and that those people should then leave, going back to their own home countries. But then again, the Dali Lama, is about full equality and not partial equality for the world. I don’t like hearing about fire and war implying to non Europeans in Europe and I also am clearly aware of some of my people stabbing White European for dating some of my peoples Middle Eastern “women”. You can’t really have a healthy talk unless we talk about the whole picture. As a mixed race person, I’m really about fairness as I don’t fit in with any group, it’s a easy and natural stance for me as much as one thrust upon me, by nearly everyone I’ve met, and especially minorities wondering how much color I have. I would like to know, does this website think his Holiness the Dali Lama is wrong? A spiritual leader displaced from his home country and who roughly speaking wanders the world because of it? One who’s been greatly financially supported by Whites, spiritually applauded by them too, including advocates for his Holiness and Tibetan suffrage due to CCP actions of Han racial expansionism. When I herd DL advocate for native Europeans I thought it karma for good deeds done to him, and also bravery to side step the whole 20 years of evil Nazism. But then again, 20 years doesn’t define anything about Europe, or at least it should not.

  • As a heathen living in the southern U.S. and as a person who works with inmates I have been called everything imaginable. I have been slandered both at work and at home as a racist and misogynistic man. I was not aware that declaration 127 even existed, but now that I have been informed of it I will be reading it in its entirety. I denounce anyone who believes that white people or black people are superior over the other. Odin is the Allfather, not the Some Father. Thank you Ocean. You have given me much food for thought.

  • Damn, i remember when I was starting out in heathenry and found the WoO, and thought the gods had sent him to me because we were geographically so close. But idk, even before all this came out, i was for some reason avoiding perusal his articles, like they felt wrong for some reason. I think i subconsciously realized he was iffy, or something spiritually was happening, but I’m glad whatever happened happened because I probably wouldve been broken after finding all this out had i continued holding him at such a high standard

  • I stumbled upon Ocean’s content mostly by accident, but I am glad I did. I have been perusal his articles for a few days now, and it started to put WoO’s articles into my feeds due to the algorithm. Something deep inside me was SCREAMING not to click on any of the content. Not sure why it was, but I don’t ignore these things. Then today I see this article, and I can see why now. I never understood why race, or gender identity, or really anything deeply personal about an individual would even need to be discussed, or “outlawed” in any sort of practice(Heathen or otherwise in reference to how the AFA discusses it now how Ocean does). These things are outside of our control, and we when gifted life it is how we came to be. Circumstances of our being, or birth, or anything that is part of our identity doesn’t affect how we can, or will practice. It doesn’t mean our words, or offerings are ignored, and it doesn’t mean they would be less within the community. Deep down we are all people. Take away the superficial layers and we are the same. We are all fallible. We all have our own types of bias, but in the end I don’t see why any of it should be a problem. These insane “You have to be this or you have to be that” just doesn’t make sense. Why? Why does it have to be A or B? Ultimately we all are here for the same reasons. We all want to be free to show ourselves, and our love to our beliefs. Why does it matter what colour your skin is, or where you come from, or the make up of your own personal identity?

  • Makes sense now why he won’t fully harshly condemn the AFA. What a bad look. WoO should NOT be posturing as a leader within the movement with his shitty behavior, let alone his lack of knowledge on the topics he tries to present. As said at the end in regards to the AFA, WoO is also free to stand alone.

  • I thank you for showing these points. I am new to norse paganism, and I really like how you present topics. Most of my knowledge comes from being obsessed for years over the tales of norse gods and recently I’ve begun trying to find my way to this religion. I started by finding Jacob on accident, but never knew some of this stuff you brought. It makes no sense to me to discriminate when to me there is loki who is practically gender fluid and species fluid. Correct me if I’m wrong there, but otherwise I never knew about the afa or some of the issues with it or that there are racists/transphobes in norse paganism. I have yet to meet a norse pagan personally

  • I came back to the Norse Paganism and when I left I don’t think he had started his website. When I came back I wanted to brush up on things better and he came up. While some of his articles were alright. Some just seemed off. I joined him on patron and that’s when things really got fishy for me. He didn’t have an LGBTQ board on the discord. Instead it was a private chat room started by members. He reluctantly gave in and cited something about having a bad relationship with a female to male transgender man. I don’t understand what that has to do with him not having an LGBTQ board up. I’ve since canceled my Patreon to him and unsubcribed from his youtube website. He just uses word salad to answer tough questions.

  • As a new pagan: Someone speaking in such vague and ambiguous terminology as the fundamentalist group i was raised in, there are red flags. Someone speaking as a leader or authority on information or insight while looking being so new, also a huge red flag. Requiring some kind of contribution to be a part of a religious community, huge red flag. No. So much no. So many red flags. I would practice my faith by instinct before I listened to a breath from him.

  • Idk about the woo guy, but I have been perusal your articles for a long time and really enjoy the mindful thinking you have inspired in me and all around good feel of your content. I also agree that it’s all about acceptance and being kind to a point as long as others allow for it if not then that’s on them. I. Just feel this world needs more kindness and just togetherness in general, all the hate is pointless and only hurts us as humans. I just really appreciate your content. Thnx man keep it up!!!

  • I was subbed to him for some time because Youtube algorithm somehow knew my pursuit of knowledge about pre-Christian religions and promoted him. What stirred my gut feeling and made me unsub is when he organized the gathering in middle of The Virus and when I suggested him in comment section in one of his articles to make a article about cults and how harmful they are, just to warn his watchers (judging by his comment section, most are coming from new pagans or average joes who are just interested in history). He never responded to that comment of mine, though I saw him being active on others. Now that Youtube recommended me article from you and Aliakai, that just confirmed my gut feeling. I spent enough of the lifetime in the church in order to recognize that cult mentality and how utterly harmful it is.

  • I would like to begin by saying that I am a part of the Wisdom of Odin community and I denounce the AFA or any organization that promotes racism, homophobia, sexism, transphobia or any kind of bigotry. I would like to make a distinction; Jacob is not seen as the end all be all source of information on norse paganism, nor is he considered our supreme leader or something crazy like that. We respect him because he brought a bunch of pagans together into a loving and inclusive community, but we are all free to have our own paths and find wisdom from whatever sources we please. Additionally, his inaction when it comes to signing Declaration 127 does not mean he is racist/sexist/homophobic etc; the first rule in the WoO discord guidelines is that no discrimination is allowed against anyone based on race, sexuality, or gender etc. Neo-Nazis or people with similar beliefs are immediately banned. Many admins have publically made statements against discrimination and groups like the AFA. Jacob himself has denounced bigotry in a YouTube community post and on his Instagram. As someone who is part of the LGBT community I would be the last person to be part of a group that felt unsafe or pushed discriminatory beliefs of any kind. So before jumping to any conclusions, please take the time to remember that a whole community shouldn’t be labeled badly because one person in it decides not to sign a document.

  • My only question, is why is it a bad thing that some people still want white people? Why do we have to conform to the new “social norm” and have multiracial families? There’s nothing wrong with it at all, someone’s race shouldnt dictate who loves them but if he is right, that white people are starting to dwindle and aren’t keeping our population numbers the same then are we not going to put ourselves at risk of persecution? Look at the United States right now, the socioeconomic support for white people is far less than that of any other race. I’ve been denied from colleges before just because I didn’t meet the criteria for my race. Even in the military all it takes is one person to claim you made a racist statement and you can lose your career and possibly even face jail time even if you never made such a statement

  • Paganism is ancestor based. Each race has their own ancestors and their own type of Paganism. Any person who is drawn to Paganism should be encouraged to discover the faith of their own ancestors. Native Americans who don’t allow non natives to witness their rituals or participate in them are not called racist, and they shouldn’t be. So why should it be any different with native European faiths? Or native African faiths? Or native Asian faiths, etc? A person is not required to hate others in order to love and honor their own ancestors. Every tribe has inherent value and should be preserved.

  • I’m currently agnostic (used to be Catholic) and looking into other religions and what really baffles me with Jacob Toddson is how he reacts to criticism. I told him in the comments of a article that he’s spreading lies about Catholicism and that he should do more research on this topic (since he comes from a protestant backround) and he literally called me a brainwashed. Kind of bad how he treats his viewers who criticize him. I unfollowed him because of his very imature reaction.

  • I am in my forties. I began researching paganism over 20 years ago. My advice to new practitioners is research like A LOT and keep your eyes wide open because not everything that is around on the internet is reliable. I follow the WoO website, I found some of his articles interesting but I havent watched all of them so I was quite surprised to see your article pointing out these topics. Good to know. Racism among the norse pagan community is a serious issue that must be addressed. I enjoy your article. I will definetely subscribe to your website

  • I had started perusal his website a couple of years ago until I found out about his stance on AFA and I commented and told him why I would no longer watch his website. Thank you for spreading this information and for having the guts to take a firm stance against this racist bull$hi+. I hate these views and find it embarrassing that many people associate Norse Paganism in general with these ignorant ideals.

  • shit, glad i found this article and Aliakai’s website. Sucks when finding out heathens you recently discover turn out to be *THAT* kind of heathen. I remember meeting mcnallen. Comes off nice enough, but man the undertones in that group are frightening. Im glad i got kicked out early on into heathenry before i got deeper into that mire. So hard to find decent people in heathenry.

  • Thank you for taking responsibility and making clear where you stand. I talked to many people, including to people of partly Asian and African descend who are strongly attracted to the gamle trygg and lore. Some ties go beyond ‘bloodlines’ or ‘race’ or other 19th century concepts of ‘blut und boden’ and other outdated views. You either feel connected or not. Archeology shows that our forefathers were more sensible and pragmatic when tying the knot with members of other tribes or cultures. They saw opportunities rather than limits like some of us do now. It’s so boring and stupid.

  • I am rather new to my Pagan beliefs and looking for purely Anglo Saxon Paganism is difficult so I also started looking at Norse Pagan youtubers as supplementation. Before I found your website and other very good sources I was perusal Jacobs as It is high in the algorithm but straight away after only a few articles it rubbed me the wrong way. Firstly his prayers always felt contrived like he was Larping and secondly as soon as he started using the word Folk even without knowing the connotation of that phrase I knew something was up. After seeing his gatherings of a bunch of dudes sitting in circles calling each other folk I had to do some research lol. I have loved Germanic Pagan beliefs for years but the Racism aspect which some groups held always put me off actually wanting to practice myself. websites like this are so important to shifting that stigma.

  • I just recently found your website. I have enjoyed, very much so, your content. And then, I found this article. Let me say, I will gladly stand with you against the AFA and all who stand with their ilk and kind! I am a proud singer of Declaration 127 and a nonchartered member of Shieldwall (TAC). THANK YOU SIR for your stance and courage to face this dragon that plagues our faith!

  • Luckily my intro to Norse heathenry IMMEDIATELY warned to watch out for red flags re: white supremacy and I’m so glad. Now I check for what ppl say abt asatru before digging in to their content and was VERY sketched out by what woo said in that one vid. Thank you for this. It is our duty to denounce these values 🖤

  • I am not pagan nor am I particularly religious, however I have a great interest in the history and beliefs of pagans. I can whole heartedly say that I am glad I found you. This article has shown to me that not only is the ancient history of paganism important but so is the modern history. Wisdom of Odin and the AfA are large problems and I can see why Norse paganism would have trouble lifting off the ground in modern times if people and groups like them try to be the spokesmen of this generation of pagans.

  • Honestly just came across your website a while back, and I was interested in this topic and learning more about this faith. However just seems the more I watch(i have only seen a handful of your vids) the more I feel like its just really a mask for left leaning political propaganda and their ideologies. I haven’t seen a article about WHAT is practiced, just anti racism, differences in Asatru, Norse Pagan, or Heathenry, and a few other vids as that is what YT is just choosing for me. I don’t really understand what this religion is about except all the political statements(indirectly implied) in your articles I have seen. Just kinda turns me off from learning more. I don’t want to be political or involved, just find something I can practice and agree with without having politics be involved. Want to stay true to the principles of old and not have to care about modern adaptations I guess. Again if you have any vids specifically about history of the religion and related content I haven’t seen it. I shall try to look for those. I am still interested in learning more about it all and why Asatru has been condemned(for intellectual purposes). Hopefully I can find what I am looking for, without the need to talk about racism and gender in every other sentence(I don’t come to YT to hear about it, I get enough from my brother and news networks).

  • 6:04 you couldn’t go for “WoOfully ignorant?” C’mon man, what are we doing here? But seriously, thank you so much for being around. WoO was the first content creator that popped up for me when looking into heathenry. You were the second. I appreciate your website for steering me out of the particularly nasty weeds

  • Given the mortality rates in the first millennium, adoption within the nuclear family, the wider kindship circle, and even beyond was important. Among the Kelts, children were typically fostered out to an uncle, aunt, or cousin’s home, to learn skills and new perspectives. This fostering system eventually evolved into apprenticeship, which was commonly obtained through a cousin, grandfather, or uncle already in the craft.

  • I really started my Heathen path in January, WoO was one of the first articles I watched, when he said that he did not openly support the AFA I had no idea who they were.. after researching only about an hour I thought “wow that’s a weird stance to take on an openly raciest group.” After perusal your article and hearing about some shady goings on at WoO gatherings, I am happy to no longer support him! Thank you Ocean for another awesome article!

  • I’ve been studying Polythiesm for some time as my minor for university. As I’ve recently began looking into it less as a Lutheran scholar and more as a potential Norse Polythiest, I found your website and WoO. Both were interesting. Still, I shuddered physically when WoO said in a article, “Everyone prays differently. Everytime I pray to Loki, I start it with, ‘You tricky bastard!'” It feels more like LARPing than anything else, and I wouldn’t be suprised if WoO turned some people off from Norse Polytheism entirely with his vibes. Additionally, his website is the first to come up when looking for Norse paganism on YT.

  • just subscribed to your content .. love it … the found this article.. you smear jobbed this guy without proper context. Just calling it out as 127 would have me do. Oh and btw 17 years on this path … this was not worthy of your character as i have enjoyed your other content fully and would never expected this from you

  • I am a new viewer and I have to say that your articles are very informative and needed in the heathen/pagan communities. I am a Christian but have been very disheartened by what I see of christianity today. I loved your article on Pelagius! It opened my mind as to the alternatives to mainline evangelical christianity which is so damaging our world. Keep putting out content that you are doing now and I will be a subcriber to whatever you put out! thank you!!!

  • I’m honestly tired of all the racist Groups and people I’ve met so far, following pages on Facebook and sorts like that then after a week or two of thoroughly enjoying everything, 2-3 people start putting racist comments or white pride things and it’s allowed and loved by everyone. Needless to say I’m not part of those groups any longer. The racism has gotten out of hand and it’s complete BS.

  • Part of the issue of perception is these terms are too loosely thrown around. ‘Transphobic, mysoginistic, ethnocentric’ etc. Many faiths around the world would fall under those categories, not least many Native Americans who exclude all people from their ceremonies who are not ‘one of them’ No one would call the Native Americans racist for keeping their faith exclusive and isolated, the only reason to level the accusations at the AFA is modern lefty political correctness. Let them do their own thing, is a measured stance. We need to challenge them disavow them etc, is not when you would not give the same treatment to the many other faiths and groups that claim the same sort of ideas. Heathenry becoming Woke and adhering to radical left wing ideologies undermines it like it undermines all organisations it creps into

  • I forgot what this was in the wake of, but I reached out to him and asked if he’d be willing to make a article condemning folkish beliefs to make it know where he stands, I was ignored. So, seeing his then tweets reaching out to Stephen sealed it for me, and the rest that flew out shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did. No frith for fascists and folkish creeps.

  • I just started getting into Norse Paganism, so I looked up articles on YouTube. His articles showed up, and I watched a few. I knew he seemed….. Off… To say the least. Thank you for this article! Edit: Also, I’d like to add, that I was specifically looking for Norse Pagans to condemn the racists that use the Asatru name. I first learned about it a few years ago when that one Asatru guy bombed the church in Southern Louisiana for racist reasons. I knew that not all Norse Pagans believed/followed that line of thinking. So when he wouldn’t bring it up, I went looking for other Norse Pagans (specifically ones that speak out against those people) on YT, and GLADLY found your articles.

  • Its saddening to found out information like this and as someone who is lgbtq, thanks for standing up for us in a sense. I did find the Gods in my ancestry work BUT this is not an end all be all for everyone. The Gods except pocs and lgbtq and they are loving towards all humanity, that’s the point really. 🌈✨🌿🧿🩷

  • I remember I tried perusal WoO a while back, since he was pretty prominent on the algorithm, and I was looking for more Heathen content to watch / listen to. I tried perusal one article and I got weird vibes — like, “Christian Life Coach with a Heathen Coat of Paint” vibes. He never felt sincere to me, and came off more like he was trying to sell a brand, and between that and his saying “Gather the folk” with his whole heart setting off alarm bells, I stopped perusal his stuff and never looked back. With all the information given by you, Aliakai and Red…holy shit. It’s one thing to be a guy who makes some faux pas, it’s another to be…*this*. Just when you think it can’t get any worse with the superspreading, irresponsible spiritual practices, blood sacrifice, and “Pay to Enter” religious spaces…he goes and directly asks Mr. AFA himself for ritual advice. I…I really hope that his followers read this and get away from him as soon as they can.

  • At ocean keltoi, I’m curious if you openly condemn similar mindsets from the other ethnic branches of the world tree… what is your opinion of obviously racist spiritual groups such as, say, the black hebrew isrealites? Or, as another example, the recognized terrorist (religious) organization that was duly elected to ruling office in Palestine, Hamas?

  • Thanks for call out people on their BS. If someone is going to make a YouTube website and pod cast, they need to be held accountable for things that are said or even not said about a subjects as big as racism and transgender rights. It’s unfortunate that this had to be a conversation. Seems like white supremacists have stained our community and it is a stain that is stubborn to get out.

  • First off love the website and content you and wolf the red have really help me in my education and search for knowledge about the faith unfortunately and regrettably in the early months since I converted to heathenry WOO was the majority of the content I watched till things started to get sketchy and by chance I found this article it opened my eyes to what WOO really is. He and all others in the faith who condone or won’t condemn the AFA and other racist organizations connected to the faith are a cancer and a danger to newly grown from the ground heathens.

  • I appreciate this article. I found WoO through the algorithm and have watched more than a few of his articles, but my eyebrow always raises when he uses the word “folk” so often. Everyone I’ve met that uses that to describe their religious group tends to have the same views as AFA, or close to them, even in a more casual way.

  • I’m glad you clarified and shown me who the charlatans are in this community. I’m a new pagan myself, just very, very recently and after perusal your articles I was presented with his articles by the Algorithm and watched a very small portion of a article. After perusal this article I can proudly say I removed it from my watch history altogether and any more articles that are presented to me will be blocked from my feed. I want to worship the Gods together with like minded brothers in unity, TRUE unity. Where all forms of man and women can come into the glory of the Gods. I may not know much about them, but im sure the Gods would be insulted to be represented by people like the AFA.

  • I’m a baby pagan and I want to thank you for making this. The article I watched before this was one of his. I subscribed and decided to look at more of his articles later. For whatever reason, I felt the need to scroll down a little further which brought me to this article. I am horrified by the thought that I was almost part of that. Racism and homophobes should not be tolerated and I appreciate and respect you for speaking out and informing us of this account and the afa in a factual and non-hateful manner.

  • Thank you for the clips and screenshots. I will agree WoO is promoting bad ideas and supporting those who promote destructive ideas. He is turning a blind eye at best. In another comment thread, I expressed willingness to hear out the opposition. The individual turned out o be trolling and not the screenshots or clips you and the Hellenist who’s name I forgot (sorry!).

  • As a new pagan, WoO was one of the first websites I found here. I only watched the most basic introduction articles, but as someone who strongly believes in fighting nazis and respecting science, the more I learn about this guy the more disgusted I am. Norse paganism is hard to get into, especially in the age of quarantine and with the need to educate yourself in the history of it, but I’m so glad that you’re here to state things as they are. With how isolated everyone is, it would be all too easy for new pagans to fall into the fascist pipeline when nobody calls attention to the rhetoric. After this article, WoO started to seem more and more like a “””christian””” pagan, if that makes sense. No other religion (that I’ve personally encountered) has so many people so obsessed with being ‘true’ than post-enlightenment Christianity with how they force science to conform to their religion, taking ancient texts as literal scientific truth. Seeing this attitude in a norse pagan is very unsettling even without the guy’s attitude towards nazis. I don’t know hardly anyone else that practices norse paganism- the closest I have is the local eclectic pagan group, which is mostly wiccans. It means so much that you put all this thought and effort into educational articles, and it means even more that you’re willing to stand up against the uglier sides of the norse pagan community. I can’t wait to watch more <3

  • This was the first article of yours i have seen, and ironically its probably due to The WoO’s website. as i am a semi new Pagan now and have been learning more and more as i continue on. Ill be honest at first i wasn’t too interested in the mood you immediately gave. But i decided i wanted to hear your whole article and the more i watched, the more i listened, i learned quite a bit about the AFA and am glad to have stayed tuned in. I already knew a little but now i feel the need to contemplate on the lot you’ve given me. thank you for the article

  • There are several religions around the world that are exclusive only to their people. They do not allow people outside of their race to join. Is that racism or is that persevering their heritage and culture? We hear so much today about culture appropriation. Considering that Asatru is 100% Indo-European. Wouldn’t anyone outside of that race be culturally appropriating something that is not theirs? In the sense of religion and culture I believe every race should have the right to preserve their traditions and beliefs. The only way to do that is through exclusively.

  • I swear Ocean you need a WWF/WWE style promoter whenever you release one of these articles, letting loose a whole torrent of truth. Now the question becomes will Mr Spurlock answer for his piss-poor behavior and be a responsible adult, or will he just hide out in the corner of the landfill with the rest of the trash he has no reserves about associating with. No frith for folkists, no space for them in our holds, and no peace for them out in the world.

  • If you have a problem with “homophobia” and “transphobia”, maybe you should take another look at the lore. So you have this guy called Loki, right, and he does all this wild and crazy stuff and usually gets himself into trouble. Like there was this time he transformed into a female horse and had sex with a stallion and gave birth the stallions child. But you see, as time wore on his jokes started to get a little more serious. He steals the apples which give the Gods their immortality. He insults Thor’s wife by shaving off all Her hair which in ancient times would have basically been like calling Her a whore as women accused of adultery would have had their heads shaved to show their shame. Sure, the Gods make mistakes as well but they always recognize what they did was wrong and atone for their misdeeds. An example is Odin, he preforms black magic and is kicked out of Asgard because of it. In shame, he becomes the Hooded One and wanders through the other eight worlds. He’s approached by the frost trolls who ask him to join them in their war against the Gods and He refuses. This earns him his place in Asgard back. On the other hand, we see that Loki doesn’t acknowledge the things he’s done are wrong and instead has to be dragged into atoning for them on pain of death. It’s sort of like that Christian who avoids sin not because it’s wrong in the eyes of God but out of fear of hell. The atonement isn’t genuine and thus it doesn’t count. Anyways, Loki goes on to commit probably the worst crime in history, he kills a God.

  • Hi 👋 I’m new here. I’ve been doing extensive research on everything Heathen and Norse Pagan. I started out perusal a few vids on the Wisdom of Odin. Started perusal your articles and saw this one. I was like, “Whoa that’s messed up!” And was going to boycott his website. Then I listened to ALOT of his podcasts and watched a few more articles. I’ve come to the conclusion that your angry that he’s not advocating for “anti-racism”. In the Folk Podcast and the WoO website he completely tries to avoid any conflict. You actively put out a article putting out conflict. This faith is about brotherhood. I’ve got older brothers and I don’t condem my brothers for stuff they I don’t agree with. I can get advice from my brothers and not agree with 95% of the stuff the believe in. If you keep up with this woke BS you’ll tear our faith apart like the Christians.

  • Thank you for making this article. This can inform many people what to avoid and the current problems that should be solved in the Norse/ Heathen community. As a trans person myself I hope the people who aren’t optimistic of the wider variety of humans will soon come to realization and accept everyone with open arms.

  • The only problem I have with this article is it’s fishing, and you are making it all about he had to make his thoughts or feelings known for your benefit and your feelings,if I was Jacob I would ignore you because it’s a religion website and obviously you want it to be a political website,or you could be mad that he makes more money then you and in a shorter period of time became more popular and better well known, either way you should keep your thoughts and feelings to yourself because I ignore the racism and the AFA and my feelings on the politics shouldn’t matter to others just like yours don’t.

  • I love your content. I’ve recently started my journey, stumbling upon several YouTube websites (such as yours and WoO) to learn more and gain new perspectives from various sources. I must say, your content is the perfect mix of entertaining and informative. I have started to trust my feelings (or “guts”) in regard to people a lot more recently, and from the first article I saw of yours I knew you were genuine and kind. It was an instant Subscribe. WoO almost had me, since I am knew, but something felt wrong about him. I never even Subscribed to his website even though I had watched several of his articles (and even double-checked after perusal this one to make sure.) Much love, friend! I hope to learn more and explore Heathenry with help from your Wisdom, which must come from Odin himself 😛

  • This is a pretty unsophisticated criticism, consisting mostly of canned Woke clichés and “None of my friends likes you”-style groupthink. A small example, but claiming “We believe gender is not a social construct” is transphobic is highly intellectually disingenuous, but sadly typical social media fodder. That perspective is simply the other side of the opinion scale on a controversial socio-biological claim. Are you thus claiming that only one opinion (conveniently, your own) is acceptable on this matter? Indeed the whole (fill-in-the-blank)phobic construction has been widely debunked as a low-brow shame tactic, which functions essentially to bully a point through by claiming any who believe contrary are irrationally fearful (the literal definition of phobic). As in, “I think maintaining a healthy body weight is a good life decision.” “Oh, so you’re fat-phobic.” “Oh okay, you’re right, I don’t believe that anymore, thanks.” Also, weird take calling the AFA misogynistic (yet another typical sound-byte) when the post you are referencing on-screen literally says “We celebrate our feminine ladies.” Doesn’t sound much like hatred or prejudice toward women to me… I could go on, but…well one more: have you not noticed how people like yourself seem so bothered that an organization celebrates white lives and indigenous white culture, yet oddly never seem to mind literal advertising campaigns, Netflix websites, Google themes etc. that proudly proclaim the “Beauty and power of black voices”, raising up “Black perspectives, black lives, black stories” etc?

  • Formerly converted a year ago to norse Paganism and though it’s good that I learned about the AFA and what their about I definitely do not buy into the “gender is a social construct” narrative. People can live how they choose but pretending there are multiple genders and you can be whatever you want is unacceptable. That thinking is ruining people’s lives and putting children a serious risk in America.

  • This is so simple. I was born into a Catholic (Christian) family. I felt called to Germanic Paganism since I was around 10 years of age. I have always known my true family heritage. Seeking confirmation, I took one of those DNA tests. I was correct, 90% Northern European, 10% Southern European. At the age of 13, following my Conformation within the Catholic Church, I immediately excommunicated myself. I am not Jewish, or Muslim. Both of these faiths originated in the Middle East. Having exactly ZERO Arab or Jewish DNA, I refuse and refute the Abrahamic god. The Bible makes no sense to me at all. Given all these facts, I cannot, and will not, accept anyone outside of European heritage as a spiritual “brother” or my equal. The AFA is a folkish organization. They have never, to my knowledge, portrayed themselves as Universalist. This is hardly an argument worth pursuing. You row your boat. I will row mine.

  • I’ve just found this article (and the one linked below from Wolf the Red as a result) and my skin is crawling. I have been perusal WOO’s articles, specifically as lately there have been a lot on Celtic polytheism whish is my thing more than heathenry. I was wondering how he afforded to travel all over Europe making articles about paganism, but didn’t give it much thought; now I am pretty certain… I’ve always thought they were accessible and quite funny in places, and now I am feeling like I need a shower. Thank you for bringing this to light; I wish I had found your article sooner. I am now completely unsubscribed from all media websites associated with WOO. I’m still reeling from all of this.

  • explain to me how it is racist to want to preserve your own folk. Explain to me how it is racist to want to preserve our own culture and identity. I can tell you from my experience that Odin loves people who are true to their kin. You are an enemy to the gods and an enemy to all native Europeans. Hail Odin and hail victory!

  • Unfortunately the YouTube algorithm places WOO above many other heathen and Norse YouTubers. I found him first too, but soon found Ocean and found that Ocean and those he works with actually give me what I’ve been seeking and allow me to pursue more on my own. WOO now just gives me the creeps because he just won’t stand up firmly.

  • As a German, hearing Stephen Mcnallen speak makes me sick to my stomach! It’s quite sad, his views and opinions on heritage and white/germanic culture are shockingly similar to those present during the Nazi era and that is a dark time in German history we are all collectively thaught to reflect on as to never repeat it again … I’d like to think that he’d not be accepted in most smaller German cultural regions, especially tiny villages such as the one I’m from, where the older generation is stricktly christian, also highly conservative and would probably laugh at him and his outlandish thoughts on paganism 😀 I enjoyed your article a lot, it was so well put together and has made me reflect more on Jacob’s personal worldviews :/ It pains me to see him speak so ignorantly on most of these controversial topics since oiginally liked his articles and content very much! Well … Hopefully it’s just him being uneducated and not really believing in what he says:/ Greetings to you from Germany <3

  • How about Jacob does his thing and you do yours. He doesn’t owe you anything but he sure is in your head. People will follow their own path. Let me ask you this, Is it OK for white people to be proud of their race and culture? Do white people have a right to their own unique heritage? I love learning about different cultures, what makes them beautiful is their differences.

  • As Pagan from a different land I find your community fascinating yet very confusing. Why is it so important to condemn or protect “trans people”? Isn’t the process of over coming this prejudice a part of a challenge that will harder their beliefs ? I’m not arguing for the AFA thing since their stance is awful, bordering on the fanatic ( at least the gentleman ranting about woden was). Acceptance isn’t always the most benevolent of things in such a situation since in doing so you deny people personal growth. On a side note as a medical doctor I just want to point out that the perpetuation of “gender identity” is a growing phenomenon that is quite destructive to the mind of young children or developing adolescence. We should be encouraging people to love themselves as who they are, not what they think they are, if you are born a man or a women you should accept what you are born as and hone your body and spirit. We are just a temporary vessel after all. Sexuality on the other hand is entirely up to the person, no god should tell you who you should love.

  • Hey, can we not bring politics and controversial issues to which everyone has different opinions into the realm of our gods? who cares who does and does not support this and that, we all worship the gods. That is the only thing that should matter. If you don’t like someone’s opinion on something don’t talk about it. This is why I hate the AFA. Religion and politics should be two very separate issues. I believe if you absolutely cannot divide these two in your mind, then our gods will never welcome you with their presence.
