Iron’s Spells ‘n Spellbooks is a magic-focused mod for Minecraft that introduces the classic RPG spellcasting fantasy to the game. It introduces new spells, magical items, structures, and books, with better spell books found in village Gazebos or built by players in mid-game. The Wandering Magician armor set is an early game source of additional mana.
The mod introduces the concept of enchanting, which augments armor, tools, weapons, and books with one or more “enchantments” that improve their existing abilities or imbue them with additional abilities and uses. Players can use staves and wands with their niche spell schools, each with their own set of spells and status effects. Spell selection and casting are visible on the HUD (fully player configurable), and QoL features like automatic spell cast release are included.
T1 Basic Spellblades come with a close range Flourish spell, while T2 Specialized Spellblades have more advanced and powerful spells. Claymores give players a mobility-focused spin attack. Ars Magica 2 or Mana and Artifice are probably the best options. To cast a spell, players need a lectern with a book on top and planks in the middle and bottom, as well as a spell staff.
The best Minecraft magic mods listed in this article offer a great set of items, gameplay experiences, world-building, and craft. A tutorial has been created on how to create unique spells in Minecraft, and larger, more deadly spells require more experience points to cast.

How to get magic in Minecraft?
To prove your worth of magic, you must complete three challenges: creating a golem, enchanting an item with an Enchanting Table, and brewing a potion in a Brewing Stand. A Phoenix will appear near you, and a Basic Arcana will appear in your inventory. However, if your inventory is full, the book will disappear, and you must redo all three challenges to get a new Basic Arcana. To get a wand, follow the Basic Arcana’s recipe: a stick, a gold ingot, and a diamond in the top right corner. This will guide you through the basics of the magic system of the mod, from mana to spellcasting.

What is the Minecraft mod that allows you to make your own spells?
Iron’s Spells n’ Spellbooks is a powerful Minecraft magic mod that offers players the ability to cast spells, upgrade armor and weapons, add powers, discover and raid dungeons, fight new mobs and bosses, and more. It also introduces new randomly generated structures, revamping the player experience and incorporating elements of the best multiplayer RPGs. With 80+ spells, Hexeri focuses on witchcraft, adding a new biome, Willow Swamp, Witch Huts, and a colony where witches spawn.
The mod also introduces new plants and herbs for “potionmaking” and environmental effects, such as drying and burning sage to imbue an area with the Peaceful status effect. Both mods aim to enhance the player experience and enliven the lore and progression in Minecraft.
How to create spells in Minecraft?
To cast a spell, you need a lectern and a spell staff, both crafted with sticks in the middle and bottom left and a ruby in the top right. To power a spell staff, right-click on a lectern and open the spelling interface. Place a spell staff in the left slot and a spell ingredient in the middle slot. Remove the powered spell staff from the right slot. To cast a spell, right-click on a block while holding a powered spell staff. Blocks can be affected by block spells and regional spells.
Block spells continue to affect the same blocks regardless of their location. Some blocks, like Redstone blocks, are immune to certain spells, such as gravity. A power spell with Redstone dust can be cast, with the targeted block and 15 blocks closest to it acting as Redstone power sources for two minutes.
Can spells be invented?
Witches and wizards with great magic skills were known to invent spells. The exact process of creating spells beyond crafting the wand movement and incantation is unknown, but it was a difficult and dangerous process. Pandora Lovegood’s experimentation is an example of this. Some known spells include vile curses, Horcrux-making spells, Morsmordre, Unsupported flight, Curse on Marvolo Gaunt’s ring, and several unknown spells.

However, using this power can be fatal. Both mods are excellent choices for those seeking an edgy and dark magical experience.

📹 ULTIMATE Guide To Enchanting In Minecraft 1.21
With so many Enchanting choices, here’s how you make the right ones If you liked this one, here are some related videos you can …
A few things to say. 1. If you turn the command block off while the command is ran successfully, it will still say the block is still active. That’s why the command block stayed on. 2. With the poison book, you could put rm=1 to specify everything outside of a 1 block radius and hit players besides yourself.
Danprobz in the newest version of minecraft beta you can add your own biomes and custom blocks and food and custom items without flowers and EVEN CUSTOM ORE i just loved that new update people finally put a food item for eggs but you can’t acess it. In CREATIVE menu just craft it or find it if you made it in a biome
So I typed in “enchant @p mending” and added in the comparator and the lever, had a book in my hand and I flipped the lever, and nothing happened so I looked in the previous output and it said “(23.39.00) Book cannot support that enchantment” so I’m now supper confused what should I do or how can you help?? I’m playing on java
There is a way I know of that lets all five spells exist at the same time Simply have each book pre-enchanted with levels 2 above the spells you don’t want the book to do For example: I have two spells, one running on sharp and one on protection To make one spell trigger both, use a normal book To make on trigger only prot, have sharp 3 on the book To make one only trigger sharp, have prot 3 on the book To make it trigger none of them, have both prot 3 and sharp 3 on the book Hope this helps for wizard rps! Though honestly custom spawn egg detection works much better than books, but if you NEED to have books, the way I just said should work EDIT: Although the above works, if you’re willing to invest a bit more time and are on Java, you can use NBT data to detect the name of the book you are holding, which is straight up better
I’d like to understand more about this – How is this affecting only books? – Will this mean that any book held by any player will turn into one of these spells? – can this be other items besides books? And can I put these custom books / items into a custom villager trade using universal minecraft editor? If anyone could answer, I’d be super appreciative 🙂
Hey, does anyone know how to make this work on a minecraft server? I want to play a server with my friends except we use these commands to all have different spells to pvp with. Main problems are trying to hold normal books without getting them effected and one person being able to use more than one spell without messing up others. I’m not great with command blocks so any advice would help!
Also a note for Java: the impaling enchantment works much differently there than in bedrock. In bedrock it gives extra damage to any mob in water, but in Java it specifically only affects aquatic mobs (making it much weaker since you lose out on extra damage from land mobs in water and never really fight aquatic mobs on land)
I’m still pretty new at playing Minecraft, so I had no idea how people got tools and gear with so many enchantments, I thought for some reason that books worked the same as the table with one enchantment given and if you want more, you have to combine your stuff. Really nice to learn that I can slap as many books on my stuff as I want, as many as it can hold (aside from the incompatible ones, ofc). I also only just yesterday learned/realized that I could use blank books to store useful enchantments for later (like Piercing IV) to also reset the enchantment table for other tools if I don’t like the enchantments that I currently see. Then again, I could also reset the table by enchanting a stone axe maybe, instead of iron or diamond, idk, I’m still new at this lol When I learned about resetting villagers for the right enchanted books and keeping a trading hall of books, I popped off and really want to make one myself. I have never tried to trap anything in a boat before, the process of grabbing a villager and getting it to your base and then trapping them in your hall seems like it’s not completely easy. Especially since my base in my newest world is in a valley, which I think would make a really cool village, but getting villagers in there is gonna be hard. Coz they’re kinda far away, either at the top of mountains or across rivers, but just the hills of my valley itself are gonna be a pain, I think. Always nice to see a guide for enchantments, in any case. 🙂
Something that I learned on my own from just using a trident so often is that when it’s raining impaling inflicts extra damage on any mob. It also seems that for some reason impaling only works if you are BOTH in water. But as long as you and your target are wet you do lots of damage. Enough damage to 1-hit creepers. Which when combined with riptide creates a really fun and powerful dash attack
I haven’t went to Minecraft 1.20 due to using the steam deck and needing a mod to be able to control Minecraft with the built in controller (yes I’m aware there’s button mapping but the controller mod ads some things that the steam deck can’t do like mapping multiple buttons to a action) so until the current modding sittuation is resolved and mods are updated I’ll be a little late
Well what do you know, I learned something new from this article. I used to shun blast protection in my armor and would opt for either protection and fire protection (for Nether purposes). Now I’m thinking of using blast protection in my armor on certain occassions (ancient debris searching comes to mind). Thanks Toycat for this article.
Random fact but in the new cherry grove prester seed on bedrock in a cave near by it leads down into a deep dark and in a tunnel near by the part you find the deep dark is ancient city after a 10 block walk in a hole in the wall. There even a path down to the city but a shreaker near by. So using it you could get the two ancient city armor pieces if you are lucky enough on the new preset seed. So if anyone is on a hunt for a deep dark on bedrock for some armor sets here you go.
I always go with Infinity. I don’t have to carry around a bunch of arrows and a bow still lasts a long time, long enough for it to be worth it. By the time I have to replace it I’ll have enough resources and XP that it won’t be a big deal. Also, I won’t run out of arrows while I’m in the middle of a firefight. I already have enough things to keep track of. I just got my first Infinity bow in this world (it did take me a looooong time to fish it up) and I’ve been able to put Power V, Flame, Punch II, and Unbreaking III on it, mostly from one other bow I fished up. It did take a lot of fishing, though. I have enough cod to feed me for years. Did I mention that it took a lot of fishing?
As something changed in enchantment system? I can’t enchant books or armour in the enchantment table now. I know the table is working because I can enchant tools, but when putting a armour or a book, I can’t enchant them. I’m talking about disenchanted brand new books and armour, so i don’t see why it shouldn’t be possible. I can enchant armour with enchanted books found in the world, but can’t make my own.
infinity is a meme? i stopped using mending because it was too much to carry a shulker of items specifically arrows. I combine bows from skeletons to repair my infinity bow for cheaper rather than getting a new one. Unbreaking makes the bow last for quite a long time. I dont use the bow very much either, maybe that explains why my bows last for very long, i go to sleep early and kill creepers and skeletons if they spawn with my bow. I also light up the explored part of caves so i really dont use the bow unless necessary. I hope you enjoyed the argument on why you can use infinity over mending sometimes.(btw if you repair your bow every hour with unbreaking III you should probably be reminded that swords exist)
I’m new to Minecraft, play on my phone, some stuff correlates, some doesn’t, a lot of Redstone machines don’t work. But on my survival world I fished out a bow with like 6 enchantments and one was mending /flame, it changed the game lol, now I need a chicken farm for feathers, I also enchanted my first diamond pickaxe with efficiency and I went back down with it for a mine expedition and I was like ” wow this is much faster 😂😂😂”
Hot take but I prefer to take my Silk Touch Pickaxe out as my main mining tool and leave my Fortune III at home. By collecting ores in their block form they consume less inventory space than if I mined the ores with Fortune. Only exceptions are ores like coal and redstone that can be condensed into blocks without smelting, but I’m rarely mining for those anyway. I just take all my ore blocks back to base, place them all out and mine them with my Fortune pick 🙂
Not me constantly getting enchanted books with three enchantments that all only work for one specific yet different item -.- they really need an update that makes it to where it won’t make you waste levels by giving me say Fire Prot. IV as well as Lure II as well as Piercing III on one book -.- also pissed bc I lose my god tier diamond axe and now it keeps giving me enchantments that are garbage lol I’ve grinded out about 600 levels since Monday at my mob farm and every book I enchant is like I said above. Enchantments that don’t work together lol
As of right July 19 2023 bedrock 1.20 any enchanted item you find can be re rolled (the enchantment) only catch is you cannot look in the chest before attempting to reroll all you do is go to a chest save and quit copy the world play the copy open the chest if you don’t like the items save and quit delete the copy and then copy the original repeat hope this helps anyone who doesn’t know👍🏿goes for books and enchanted items
This article lost all credibility when you said mending is more important than infinity, mending serves little to no purpose on a bow if you fish, you fish out so many really good enchanted bows keeping your have to be a really bad shot to burn through your whole bow beveled you get another equally a as good or better
