Magic mushrooms, also known as shrooms or mushrooms, contain a hallucinogenic chemical called psilocybin. Research shows that psilocybin can have a positive effect on mental health and may help treat PTSD, headaches, and other mental health issues. The active agent in magic mushrooms, psilocybin, causes profound, temporary changes in a network of brain areas involved in introspective thinking. When a person takes psilocybin, their body converts it to another substance, psilocin, which attaches to and activates receptors for the brain chemical serotonin, primarily the serotonin receptors.
Magic mushrooms can increase excitement and disorder within brain networks, and their consumption is considered a form of psychedelic drugs. While mostly illegal in the U.S., they offer a wide range of health benefits worth exploring. Some types of mushrooms contain psilocybin and psilocyn, substances that can cause hallucinations when used in large enough doses.
Mycologist Paul Stamets believes it’s time for fans of psilocybin mushrooms to leave such childish slang behind. Psilocybin mushrooms, commonly known as magic mushrooms, are not a harmless or legal high, but they can have significant effects on mental health. Understanding the side effects and risks of consuming magic mushrooms is crucial for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Yup I think it has very real positive medical uses. I don’t know why more controlled studies are not being permitted. Especially now with all the psychological and drug induced mental health issues. I believe it opens up a new avenue to explore. I have tried them before and yes the experiences vary but I must say they seem to match the studies presented here mostly positive.
