There not only in Maori culture but also in Hawaiian we use them in Tahitian dances. This is not to hype them up this is a challenge to the opposite team. May I suggest you try the Ha’a instead? It is specifically Hawaiian. It would benefit all of those involved to know their own wardance and spread the culture of Hawaii. I’m not Polynesian, but I know that the haka is a Māori tradition and is unique to them. I wonder if Māori get offended or annoyed when other Polynesians who are non-Māori do it. Sometimes I feel like they do it because they think it’s cool, (which it is) but I wonder if Māori feel like it’s disrespectful or appropriating when it’s done by non-Māori Polynesians.
