Frankfort Senior High School is a public secondary school in Frankfort, Indiana, serving grades 9-12 for the Community Schools of Frankfort. The school has the unique honor of being the only school in the country that uses the “Hot Dog” as its mascot. The Hot Dogs joined four of the top-rated Indiana high school teams in completion during IHSAA sectional Monday, shooting a season best 359 that placed them 6th in this tough field.
Frankfort High School has played 132 times and is currently in the Championship of the most unique mascot tourney by Indiana Sports Talk. The school’s mascot name can be traced back to their first mayor, Mayor Gilbert, who loved the hotdog and as mayor and principal of the high school, named the mascot. Joe Sneathen designed the Frankfort Hot Dog mascot, which has been used since the 1960s. The school is in the process of trademarking the logo, and the community hosts the Frankfort Hot Dog Festival every summer.
