What blocks the earth chakra?
The Muladhara chakra, also known as the root support, is located in the coccyx and is responsible for regulating our physical energies. It is a vital part of our mental state and emotional well-being, and without balancing it, higher chakras cannot be healed or unblocked.
The root chakra is associated with various forms of trauma, such as anxiety disorders, fear, panic attacks, worry, overthinking, depression, nightmares, emotional disconnectedness, anger/rage, and eating disorders. It governs our physical energies, providing us with a sense of safety and security. To balance the root chakra, gemstones like garnet, red jasper, black tourmaline, and bloodstone can be placed on the area while lying down or worn.
Physical exercise, nutrition, and connecting to the earth through activities like walking barefoot on the grass and gardening can help balance the root chakra. Healing vibrations and sound baths with specific frequencies can bring the Chakras into balance, and when these are in balance, so is our mind and emotions.
Asanas, such as Pavanamuktasana, Janu Sirsansana, Padmasana, Malasana, Tadasana, Shavasana, and Virabhadrasana I, can help remove blockages and balancing the root chakra. Movement meditation can also help ground you and connect you to a higher spiritual plane.
Psychotherapy modalities include interpersonal, psychodynamic, Object Relations, and Contemplative for root cause(s) and integration for healing, as well as Reiki-Tummo energy healing. Essential oils like sandalwood, rosewood, rosemary, black pepper, cedar, clove, ginger, frankincense, and myrrh can also be used to support the root chakra.
In summary, the Muladhara chakra plays a crucial role in our mental states and emotions, and maintaining its balance is essential for overall well-being. By incorporating various techniques and essential oils, we can create a more balanced and secure environment for ourselves and others.

Is Maui the Heart Chakra of Earth?
Maui, the island of the Haleakala Volcano, is known for its unique characteristics, including the Heart Chakra, which is our center of love, connectedness, and forgiveness. Our Hawaian friend Matt, our Guru, led us to the “Down to Earth” market, where we had lunch and purchased an unforgettable sticker “The answer is Love” for our car. We then visited the “Big Beach”, where we had an amazing swim, played with waves, and snorkeled. As we lay there, we felt a deep sense of relief, similar to how we feel after a marathon day.
The experience provided a tremendous amount of love and healing to our body and heart. This experience reminds us of the importance of waking up early in the morning for a full day and not wishing for the best part of the day to come yet.

Which chakra is associated with the Earth?
The base chakra, also known as the muladhara chakra in Sanskrit, connects us to the energy of Mother Earth through our physical bodies. We feel this energy through our bones, muscles, and tissues, and connect with the physical world through movement, such as standing barefoot on soil, gardening, hugging trees, or touching granite rocks. Visualizing the base chakra as a spinning vortex of deep red can magnify this experience. To create a vibration at the energy center, repeat the seed or bija mantra LAM (sounds like LOM). This can create a humming at the energy center and vibration at the lips with the sound of “mmmmm”.
The base chakra is about security, safety, and connection, and when in balance, we feel free to move freely about our life. When out of balance, it can lead to insecurity and greed. Spending time on the earth is a vital foundation for further growth, and affirming statements or mantras can enhance our connection. By maintaining balance, we can move freely and experience the rawness of the earth’s energy.
Why is Glastonbury so spiritual?
Glastonbury is believed to be a pre-Christian site due to its location by the Tor, the highest hill in the area, and its natural viewpoint. The Tor’s terracing, interpreted as a maze, was created around 4, 000 to 5, 000 years ago, around the same time as Stonehenge. The Tor’s top features a ruined medieval church, with the tower still standing. Two thousand years ago, at the Tor’s foot was a vast lake called “Ynys-witrin”, or the Island of Glass.
This connection to Avalon, the legendary island of enchantment, is partly attributed to the legend that King Arthur and his wife Guinevere were buried in Glastonbury Abbey grounds. The Abbey’s monks discovered a lead cross inscribed in Latin, “Here lies buried the renowned King Arthur in the Isle of Avalonia”, and a few small bones and a scrap of hair.
Where is the heart of the earth located?
Antarctica is considered the heart of Earth, as it is the sixth continent and is home to the world’s main marine current, the circumpolar Antarctic current. This current, which has been around for 13 million years, has frozen the continent and has connections with other ocean currents. It changes its shape annually, expanding in winter with sea ice and retreating in summer. The subantarctic current, moving like a circulatory system, is likely playing a significant role in controlling climate change. Both the circumpolar and subantarctic currents play crucial roles in maintaining the Earth’s balance.

But also, it highlighted that the things happening to us, even having only been in the field a few hours, this is all part of it. Can’t sleep and a lot of tearfulness already. This place! <3
Lovely article thanks Tracey. You may be interested in reading the Vedic scholar Christopher Wallis’ article about the chakras. Through his translations of ancient Sanskrit texts, he makes the point that the modern Western understanding of chakras is almost completely influenced by assumptions and misinterpretation by early 20th century theosophists such as Charles Leadbeater. Wallis says that chakras are not fixed to certain elements amongst other things. He says it’s up to the spiritual practitioner to bring whichever element may be needed into a chakra for balance and healing.
