Quina, a Blue Mage in Final Fantasy IX, can learn various Blu Mag abilities by eating enemies. These abilities include Angel Snack, Mustard Bomb (outside Lindblum), Matra Magic, Limit Glove, and Aqua. Quina can only learn these abilities on Disc 3 when the Blue Narciss is available.
Quina has a vast assortment of useful spells that serve during the adventure and many end game teams. To learn them, Quina needs to use a special command when the enemy is available. The Blue Magic Glossary lists several abilities, such as Frog Drop, Aqua Breath, Mighty Gaurd, Pumpkin Head, Angel’s Snack, Vanish, Level 3 Def-Less, Limit Glove, Mustard Bomb, Magic Hammer, Night, Matra Magic, White Wind, Auto Life, Level 4 Holy, Goblin Punch, 1000 Needles, Level 5 Death, Bad Breath, Earth Shake, Frost, and more.
Quina’s Vanish spell is the only means of inflicting the Vanish status on a single target the player has available. It can be especially useful when used on Twister: Mount Gulug. When first learning Mighty Guard, the buffs barely last 30 seconds, and Quina will have no MP to do anything else. Once the buffs last, Quina can cast the “Blu Mag” command in battle.
One of the most frustrating spells to obtain is Mighty Guard, which casts Shell and Protect on all party members. Matra Magic reduces a target’s HP to 1 and inflicts Confuse, Darkness, Poison. Quina is a playable character in Final Fantasy IX who can cast Blu Mag spells learned from enemies by consuming the enemy who possesses certain abilities.

Can Quina eat bosses?
The Earth Guardian, a flying monster, can be defeated using Earth Shake, a Blue Magic, and Quina’s Eat/Cook command. The Earth Guardian is the only boss that can be eaten, and it is not undead. To win the battle, Quina should equip two pairs of Feather Boots, but not the Auto-Float support ability. With Mighty Guard, Auto-Regen, and Auto-Haste, the Earth Guardian can be easily defeated. Twister can be helpful, and Bad Breath can make the battle easier due to its weakness to Darkness, Mini, and Slow.
Aqua Breath can inflict over 4000 HP in one use. Night can put the Earth Guardian to sleep, but the party needs to be protected against the status and LV3 Def-less. Roulette can work, but the odds are stacked against the player with one enemy and two allies.
