My wedding was in a Kingdom Hall. In my area they insisted that if the bride wore a veil, it was not supposed to cover her face at any time. As if that matters… she would still be wearing the ‘offending’ veil. But you are right in bringing all this out! I always thought it was funny because I knew the ‘pagan’ origins of the wedding traditions we have in the West, including the exchanging of rings and the connection of the ring finger to the heart. It feels like something the organization may have wanted to change, but they knew it wouldn’t stick. I mean, what would our weddings look like if we didn’t hold onto SOME things from our culture of origin? If they tried to take away our wedding traditions, it would prove once and for all that the organization demands total obedience and wants to isolate you from everything, even beautiful things, in our culture. Women wouldn’t stand for it.
Col. 2 16-17 is a really great scripture that is never highlighted. Colossians 2 16-17 “Therefore, do not let anyone judge you about what you eat and drink or about the observance of a festival or of the new moon or of a sabbath. 17 Those things are a shadow of the things to come, but the reality belongs to the christ.

This was one of the many things that helped wake me up from the JW cult after 30+yrs. I couldn’t get my head around why weddings rings amongst other things were acceptable other things were also classed as a personal conscience decision and yet other things such as holidays were not. Here’s another point about weddings you’d think “god’s organization” would know about and avoid: Applying for a marriage license puts the state at the most powerful position in this contract. Yes- a marriage is a contract with the state. It is a patented process created by the state (for revenue and power) and god has no position in the marriage whatsoever. NONE. So, while the Elder officiating the JW ceremony, where he talks about the three-fold cord- and Jehovah is the strongest cord of the three- the fact is, Jehovah/god isn’t even in the marriage as far as the state and their licensed arrangement is concerned. It is entirely possible to be lawfully married without a license or the state’s involvement at all. But, WT has made the choice- just like it chose to be a 501(c) corporation subject to IRS rules, where the government gets to tell it what to do, not god- the WT goes right along with the commercial contract marriage arrangement that leaves god and religion out of the picture entirely and gives secular government the top position of power in that contract. Rather than being separate from this world, WT is eye deep in it.
Very interesting article. I didn’t know about most of these practices. They think they’re so clever… But they’re obviously not completely pagan-free, so why bother with any of it? They pick and choose what they want and ignore anything which may be inconvenient to stop practicing. I mean: Can you imagine them suddenly telling everyone they have to throw away their wedding rings? They need to hang on to every JW they can get, at this point.
Whenever I would question why the brothers were not allowed to have facial hair, I was told that since it was not prevalent in society at the time, it would not be wise if they were out in service, because they might be viewed as hoodlums and it would bring reproach upon Jehovah’s name. Then it was usually followed by a statement such as ‘if times were different and facial hair was common, as in Jesus’ day, then it would be different as that was commonly accepted.’ So I always wondered why they had no answer to this, when in the early 2000’s stubble and then full beards and mustaches were seen on more men than not. Apparently, they change their reasons according to what suits them at any given time and the sheep have to follow or be expelled.
I just came across this podcast, Rose, and wow! I remember all that scorning JWs did of me while I was “learning” how to become a JW! I made LOTS of JW goof-ups! I’d say “God bless you!” when I heard a sneeze and would get the dirty looks and pagan talks. We gave a JW bride a beautiful elephant planter from India as a gift. Well, I forget if the trunk was curled down which means it’s ready to attack, or whatever—yes, the bride was highly insulted and shunned us and I was given the pagan lecture about demons in India. The seven days of the week have their origins with the seven days of creation. As for the wedding ring, it has a much deeper spiritual connection to paganism. Did you check out the Puritan cult…..they realized the pagan origins of the Catholic holidays and wanted to rid the days of the week due to the names of pagan deities. I personally knew about most of these already. Regarding marriages, bridesmaids do not wear the same dress as the bride and they do not wear veils, certainly not in my country (UK) if you research everything Rose you would find a link to Paganism somewhere, people can’t possibly avoid everything, we can’t exactly go against the days of the week or months of the year for example and as for beards it really is down to individual congregations because when I was going to meetings there were ministerial servants who had beards, that stupid idea was because of Rutherford. Regarding celebrations, take xmas for example, that actually goes back to Nimrod (the tree, Yule log etc) so if you are trying to say that there is no reason true Christians should avoid these celebrations then you need to be aware of what some of them are associated with, like you point out, some things today don’t have the same meaning at all that the pagans meant so for me I wear a wedding ring so that other men know I am married and I was married in a registry office with no bridesmaids and a skirt and jacket with just a comb with flowers on in my hair but I would never celebrate any worldly holidays because they honour false gods just like Easter and the whole world celebrates them and I wish to be “no part of the world” We as individuals cannot avoid everything like I said but we can choose to stay away from the “unclean thing” you and everyone else must choose as you see fit but I will do my utmost to serve Jah the best way I can 🙏🏻
Good job, Rose. You can add disfellowshipping, or “shunning” to the list of pagan practices. The Watchtower magazines THEMSELVES condemned the practice of shunning by the Catholic Church; mentioning their pagan origins in the 1947 edition of the Watchtower. (Jan. 8th edition) The practice started with the ancient Greeks and then the Druids; eventually being adopted by the Roman Catholic church in the 4th century. They CONDEMNED THE SHUNNING PRACTICE up until 1952, when all of the sudden, they flip flopped their policy somehow, and took 2 John verses 7-9 to an extreme; ignoring the context of the admonishing text; which stated that it only applied to “Anti-Christs”, or those not accepting Jesus as the Messiah and God’s Son. Instead they applied it to all cases of serious sin, and started their long campaign of control and holding families hostage thru the shunning practice! What they’ve lost sight of is this: There’s a difference between avoiding social association with someone and refusing to say a word to that person and treat them as if they didn’t exist!! Complete misapplication of scriptures.

I’m not sure about the veil, for that is mentioned in the Old Testament as well in the New Testament. Remember the bride and bridegroom Jesus went? For that’s what a veil is. Even Moses was wearing a veil as well as Jesus Himself. Are we to say that Jesus is pagan? Remember that Pagan basically means non-Jewish or non-Christian. Because whole humanity was at one time connected, many good traditions can be seen in other cultures, like taking shoe of before entering the house. A middle eastern tradition, practiced in the Bible and even in Japan.
Fortunately bridesmaids don’t wear veils anymore. My Bible study conductor knew about wedding rings, days of the week, and names of the months. I researched birthdays more and the Babylonians divided up the skies dedicated to God’s and this is where the signs of the Zodiac comes from. I had a JW come to my door a few years ago, I asked the lady if she believed that only 144,000 people were going to heaven, she said Yes. I then asked her how many people followed JW Faith, she said millions. I then asked her how does she knows she is one of the 144,000? She said we have different beliefs and to have a nice day. I told her the same and that Christ died for all of us.
My dad was an Old Baptist preacher and he actually invited JWs into the house to sit down and speak with him. He had one young lady very interested in our beliefs and asking him questions, and the older lady (who was clearly the “leader”) practically dragging her out of our house so Daddy couldn’t convert her! 😅
I was raised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and spent 40 years as a die-hard advocate. Through life traumas, God showed me the truth about that cult, and I was finally exposed to the real gospel. Just as Jesus was worshiped by His disciples when He appeared to them after His resurrection, we Christians today do rightly worship Him as God the Son.
As an (ex) JW, I loved it when people would share their faith with me and have a discussion. Two christians of sincerity talking about spiritual matters is so uplifting. I truly believe that no Christian denominations on earth have got it completely right, but I continue to worship God to the best of my ability in spirit and truth.
Good advice. May I also recommend using the following… Open the door with your Bible in hand and go to John 14:6. Keep the discussion and focus on that verse because it puts the focus on JESUS. This has proven to work for me. They stop coming to my house because they saw my license plate (JHN 14 6) and I would not let the discussion get off that verse. Proven effective!!
I like it. When Witnesses come to my door, I engage them in polite conversation and often end up asking them if ‘Jesus lives in their hearts’. “Do you have the Spirit of Christ in your heart” I ask? I lived in an area where there’s some pretty aggressive and relentless JWs that would routinely pound on my door. There’s always two of them- one is experienced, and one is inexperienced. And they always have a pitch. The aggressive one, the one who starts the conversation, or attempts to start the conversation with you at the door has more “experience”. I had a good friend in high school and elementary school who was raised in the JW religion, so I had a lot of exposure to their crap. Anyway, on this particular day, I got my door banged on by them. I knew who they were before I even opened the door. The experienced one throws her pitch out at me immediately, and hers was, “We are here on ‘Christian’ business, and we know that everybody is worried about all the terrible things that are going on in the world and it’s really scary.” Okay. Weird. Opening up with fear tactics to try to draw you in. I was kind of busy and I don’t know where it came from but I wanted to end the conversation before it even started, and so I responded “I don’t really worry about what’s going on in the world today. I put my faith in Jesus Christ. Who do you put your faith in?” That was the closest I ever saw actual steam coming out of someone’s ears. The nervous inexperienced girl was shuffling her feet and looking at her “leader” for some kind of direction, and the experienced woman snarled at me and huffed a little bit, jammed her watchtower magazines back into the briefcase, and stormed off. I guess that was too challenging of a question for her.
I don’t know much about Jehovah witness(es), but I had a couple of elderly jw ladies who knocked on the door this afternoon. Quick side note I’m a new Christian – gave my life to Christ September 12, 2019. Following the short small talk with the ladies I told them as they walked up, I’d rcd a strong presence of the Holy Spirit and just prior I was also in the house listening to a sermon/podcast about the book of Revaluation. Then with excitement I raised my hand up high and said “Lord Jesus, please come back soon!” I am 100% confident that the Holy Spirit was making intercessions on my behalf. Praise Jesus 🤲🙏🙌👏
I decided to give the JWs love and a pineapple plant. I showed them our dragon fruit plants and we discussed the beauty of God’s creation. My heart was filled for compassion for them, they are “so close” yet so lost without Jesus and who he really is. Please pray the seeds sown will bear good fruit by the work of the Holy Spirit.

Why should i believe this person, did he do miracles to prove he was from God? Do your beliefs match up with first century Christian beliefs? If not, why? While running errands this lady give me a pamphlet and I took it but as I was walking away I looked down and said “I’m not a Jehovas Witness”! While handing it back to her. She replied “It’s for everyone.” I literally walked away. I realize God is the one who prompt me to look at it immediately and if I took it I would’ve come in agreement with whatever that faith believes in. just had two JW in my house, & they point blank refused to watch this article, I made a compromise & had to put headphones on then relay the relevant bits, but it didn’t go too well, as I am sure you can imagine that is not the best way to convey the points, Btw they both pointed out with some satisfaction that the uploader is using an outdated NWT… (they said “he should be unseeing the grey NWT not the black one) That just made me think blimey how often do they change their book? I did say to them I was disappointed in them refusing to watch the article as it says to me that their faith is easily rocked.
Bruh…like literally few days back God lead me to read this chapter and I found the exact two verses to stand out, ofc my intention to search it is because my Grandma kept quoting me that verse where Jesus says that the Father is greater than Him(which is undoubtedly from the same chapter having a context). I’m blown away by God’s Faith it’s just good. He never fails His promises and He’s definitely gon save my grandma from the cult!!! I normally greet them on the porch (don’t allow them inside your house), advise them that I am a born again Christian and that I believe in the Holy Bible. I tell them that what they believe is actually a cult and is not the true Word of God. Of course they deny this, and I tell them that I’m not interested in a false Christian cult. I bless them privately.
As a former Witness. I just tell them I’m not interested and close the door respectively. If you don’t do nothing they will mark you as not home and most likely return. No religious debate is going to change anything. If anything it will solidify their persecution complex. A seed might help but self discovery and awareness that you are trapped in a cult will bring them out of it. That’s what happened to me.
I’ve confronted the Jehovah Witness several times . When you tell them that the King James Version of the Bible is still the best transition of the Bible they get locked up . Then I take them to the scriptures in the KJV and prove that Jesus is God manifested in the flesh . That the name that Jesus declared in John 17:20 where it says ” And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it : that the love wherewith thou hast love me, may be in them, and I in them ” . The name Jehovah is never mentioned in anywhere in the four gospels. The only name He ever declared is Jesus which means Jehovah has become our salvation . Then if their still there I give them Isaiah 9:6 where it says the child born is ” the mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the prince of peace ” . He’s the Emmanuel which being interpreted God with us . In Matthew 1:23 . 1TIMOTHY 3:16 ” Great is the mystery of Godliness, God was manifest in the flesh “. John 14:9 Jesus said to Philip ” he that hath seen me hath seen the Father ” . Revelation 1:8 Jesus calmed to be the ” Almighty ” . And the Bible is full of scriptures that’s proves Jesus is The Father . They will be looking for the door when you give the chapter and verse of who Jesus is . Have a blessed day .
Over the years I’ve seen lots of these types of articles where one Chrisian attacks other Christians for some reason or other. The protagonist expressing their viewpoint has a ‘knowledge based’ faith and is still developing the Christian character. A faith clothed with Holy Spirit leaves no room for anger, malice, slander, and the like, but is manifest by a compassionate heart, kindness, meekness, and patience – Col. 3:5 – 16. ESV. Tears are a language, God understands – Rev 7:17
I have a number of approaches, but perhaps one of the best is to say, “I will become a Witness if you can show me that Jerusalem fell in 605 BC, from a source OTHER than the Watchtower organisation.” I realise this is obscure to a non-JW, but this date is key to their prophetic timeline, and if it’s wrong – which it is, Jerusalem fell in 586 BC – much of what they claim collapses like a house of cards. You will not get them to admit they’re wrong to your face, but they will go home and check. And then their problems begin.
I take them to Genesis 1:26 and ask them what it means when it says: And God said, “Let US make man in OUR image.” Plural! And then I ask take them to Isaiah 9:6-7 on the prophesied Jesus as Eternal Father, Mighty God, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor.” They don’t know how to reconcile those verses with what they’ve been taught (without twisting it so much in their brains). Yes, I used their Bible to show them. They have it in their Bibles. And it catches them off guard (unprepared) and I believe it will win them over to knowing the real Jesus according to Scripture.
Good one! I was expecting John 1:3 “All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence.” (their translation) So if everything is made by him, how come that he was “made”? I used it on two elderly grannies that came to my door, but they switched the subject quickly. I hope and pray it sunk in.
As an exJW my favourite starter is: According to the NT who has the name that is greater than any name? Another follow on is: The Bible agrees with you that we are Witnesses. But according to Jesus’s final words, who are we witnesses of? It can get a discussion because of their obsession with the name Jehovah.
Hey Mike, thank you for this resource! I tried to implement the two John Scriptures just this afternoon and while I think it went fairly ok, the “main” JW was trying to get me off track by saying how the Holy Spirit isn’t mentioned in John 1:1, and before I could get to John 5:16-18 he took me to Philippians 2:6 and pulled that verse out of context without me realizing it. He was using an iPad that had their JW app installed on it, and had the KJV and ASV and was as their “Kingdom Translation” of the Greek text. Personally I prefer the ESV and NASB, so that’s what I told the “main” JW I prefer to use, and he seemed unfamiliar with the NASB and didn’t seem to have access to it within his JW app. I told them that I believe in the Trinity, and he tried to ask if that word is in the Bible, I countered by saying that I know it isn’t, but I believe that Scripture supports that God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit are three in one. He encouraged me to look through my Bible and find any and all evidence for that belief and we’ll use “my” Bible for our next get together. I may be a little pessimistic here, but I think I’ll be countered by them saying something to the effect of, “You’re using a poorly translated version of the Scriptures, here’s what it says in our translation and here’s our translation of the Greek text.” It seems like I have some homework to do! Definitely was not expecting the iPad and their app.
John 5:18 – if this is John’s commentary and not the opinion of the Jews, then John also said that Jesus broke the sabbath, which He never did. John 5:23 – equating the word “honor” with the word “worship” is incorrect. The word honor comes from the Greek word “timao” meaning to asign value to. The word worship comes from the Greek word “proskuneo” meaning to bow down to, to do obeisance to. Although similar in meaning, they are distinct and do not hold the same meaning.
I have a BALL with the dear JW’s. I usually start by informing them that I simply could never convert to a faith that doesn’t have a solid biblical reasoning for no birthdays. Then I let them know that presents on Christmas, and free candy on Hallows are non-negotiable. At this point I tend to get serious and I open THEIR “bible” to Hebrews 1 and start the same track: Jesus is divine. Period. The REAL deal-breaker. Love ya, Mike. Thank you for your work.
My favorite question to ask Jehovah Witnesses when they come to my door and I let them and sit them down on my couch, is: “Can you show me where the Name Jehovah is found in the New Testament?” Of course, they run to their New Twirled Perversion of the Bible and I grab my interlinear Greek and English New Testament and show them that the Name Jehovah is not there in the Greek. Instead, where they have printed ‘Jehovah’, actually, in the Greek, it’s: “THEOS”!!! and sometimes it’s even “Kurios”. After showing them that the New Testament writers never used or even bothered to spell ‘Jehovah’ in Greek letters, or come up with any other name for God that even remotely sounds like Jehovah, they begin to get a little uncomfortable. Then I proceed to ask them who is responsible for the mistranslation in their Bibles. But they don’t know who translated their copy of the Bible. Then I ask them; “So you’re trusting the eternal fate of your soul to a group of Bible translators whom you don’t know, nor know their level of education or mastery of Hebrew and Greek?” “How then do you know for sure your translation is accurate if: 1.Jehovah is never found in the original Greek NT. and 2. You don’t even know who translated your Bible?” With that, they go into a tail spin, put their tail between their legs, their books back in their backs, and they walk out. As they walk down my driveway to the street I remind them: “It’s clear to me, you’re trusting in the work of men whom you don’t even know, rather than God, whose name Jehovah, was never mentioned by any of the Apostles in the New Testament.
Hey Mike, I think you should do this article again only talk about it from the defensive side rather than the offensive side. What I mean by that is, instead of choosing your own scripture to prove the Trinity try taking the scripture they use and explain why it doesn’t work. They have a whole list of questions to fight the Trinity. Go through and answer them.
I am a JW’s and it does not matter which Bible to use when concerning this text and it’s context. Concerning John 5:18 which states: “18 This is why the Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.” It was the UNBELIEVING Jews who reasoned that Jesus was attempting to make himself equal with God just by claiming God as his Father. While properly referring to God as his Father, Jesus never claimed equality with God. He straightforwardly answered the Jews: “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing.” (John 5:19,30-32; see also John 14:28; John 10:31-36.) If he “can do nothing of his own accord” he surly is not equal thereby Jesus denied these false charge … he was not equal to God and therefore could not act on his own initiatives. It was those UNBELIEVING Jews, who claimed that Jesus broke the Sabbath, but they were wrong also about that. Jesus kept the Law perfectly, and he even declared: “It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”… Matt. 12:10-12, If Jesus failed and actually broke the Law then God would not have accepted his sacrifice and Mankind would still be what condition? Here something else to think about. The UNBELIEVING Jews (the religious Leaders) accused him of many things … John Chapter 8 Jesus is speaking how he is the “light of the world” And the Jews say “You bear witness about yourself; your witness is not true.

They do their speal and say Jehovah witness, she says “JABOBBA?! You mean Jesus?!” They say nothing but smile, “UM…this is the house of God, in this house we believe in JESUS, LORD, SAVIOR, God!” POINTS to the door No joke, they leave, with out saying anything
There are a number of strategies for communicating with Jehovah’s Witnesses, though they are aware of most of them, and have been trained to answer them. Mike’s suggestion is a good one. I find that the most important thing to do in your interaction is to get them off of their prepared script and ask them questions they have not been trained to answer.
Hey Mike, I haven’t been a witness in a long long time and I have made a complete separation of myself from the religion, but this argument is still one I just can’t get behind… How do you balance scriptures such as the one you quoted in this article (which I honestly don’t interpret the way you do, still looks like Jesus separates himself from his father to me), when scriptures such as Exodus clearly states that man could never lay eyes upon god and live. Granted, this isn’t something I wake up in the morning thinking about, but I watched your article and I’m curious now. Get back to me please. Steve
Imma say this. My initial wariness of chruches saved me from jehovah witness chruch. Can I hear a hallelujah. I haven’t found a home chruch. I honestly just want 3-5 people of Christian and we gather together once every week just for Jesus. And that’s the same act as a chruch. And just read from scripture and sing gospel music.
I’m reading a lot of comments on how to politely turn away a JW. However did it not cross anybody’s mind how obnoxious it is to go around badgering complete strangers what their beliefs should be? There are many ways to get your views known to others, but going to the sanctuary of somebody’s home to tell them how wrong they are is not one of them.
I have been studying with Jehovahs Witnesses for over a year now and i am proud to say that they do have the truth. Before i began studying i was a Catholic because of my father and i attended other religious organizations by myself in search of the truth. Many people hate the witnesses, but the bible clearly said that one group would be hated by all the others. Next time you decide to criticize the witnesses, first get to know what they are teaching and know the bible and then if you have solid proof go ahead. If the Jws were so fake, why would they voluntarily go to people houses and teach them about the bible, why would they risk being offended and criticized, they are doing what Jesús did, he went out and knocked on peoples doors hoping for them to know the truth Also, this comment will be uselessvro Many, but i hope that some of you will understand. this shows a large problem in organized religion. there are countless interpretations to the same book that is thousands of years old and has been translated over 7 times each to a new language, with context and meaning all being reinterpreted. nevermind that there are over 3000 different gods, tons of completely separate religions and the people that are Christians cant even agree. their are something over a thousand different sub sects of Christianity. haha, its honestly interesting to see them argue over whos right.
I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A witness of his love, faithfulness and righteousness not a witness physically because God is not physical. God is a spirit. Let me just share my thought on the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. It was translated in simple terms so many can understand maintining the true name of God in English which is Jehovah (Yahweh in Hebrews) also being true to the messageI believe. “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only one true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.” John 17:3
The Jehovah’s witnesses are into Revelation. I pointed out to a nice couple this summer in my driveway Revelation 1:17,18 “…….Fear not I am the First and the Last(meaning Jehovah God): I am He that liveth and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of Hell and of Death.” A clear reference to Jesus Christ fully God fully man, dying to take away the sin of the world.
When Jehovah Witnesses come to my door I always ask three questions. The first is who will judge the world. Because there are verses to support both Jehovah God and Jesus will be the judge. The second is who raised Jesus from the dead because you can quickly find Romans 10:9 tells us that God did it yet Jesus said I am the Good Shepherd I laid out my life and I take it up again. The third question is who created the world because if you look in Isaiah and Job, God did it by himself. But in John chapter 1 and Colossians they both clearly state that Jesus created all things without any assistance.

my mom sent me to pay bills one time and near the counter, there was a watchtower magazine about the end times. me, being my fav book of the bible is the revelation, picked one up. i had a change of 1000 philippine pesos, and I head home. when i got back, i lost the Php 1000, probably because i focused on the magazine too much that i may have misplaced the bill. so long story short. i never picked up any watchtower magazine on that counter again

The logical thing to do is worship and pray to the one Jesus prayed to. If Jesus told you that he had a God, would you honestly take Jesus as God? The logical answer is no, but Christians throw all logic out when it comes to their Bible. Matthew 26:36-44 36. Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37. He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39. Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” 40. Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. Eze 34:11-12 “For thus saith the Lord YWHW; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is AMONG his sheep that are scattered; SO will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.” Well, well, well, it looks like in my daily Bible reading I’ve come across more Holy Scripture clearly declaring Jesus to be YWHW. It’s irrefutable!!! Only if you’re a brainwashed ‘Jehovah Nitwit’ can you not see it. Here in Ezekiel 34, YWHW Himself declares that HE will be “AMONG His sheep” just “AS a shepherd seeks out his flock”. Does this mean Jehovah of the ‘Jehovah Nitwits’ was among his sheep? Where does it say that? NOWHERE? What is says is; I YWHW HIMSELF will be AMONG my sheep seeking them out. Any Bible reader understands that JESUS came down from heaven as YWHW and was AMONG his sheep as a shepherd. John 10:11 “I AM the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” (And HE did so while HE was AMONG them.) And as the Writer of Hebrews declares the LORD JESUS the “great shepherd” in concert with the God of peace: Hebrews 13:20 “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant” And the Apostle Peter along with John and the Writer of Hebrews, declares Jesus to the Shepherd of our souls: 1Pe 2:25 “For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
I’m not a Jehovah’s witness.. However i was wondering why when jesus was tempted by Satan, which the Scriptures say that GOD cannot be tempted.. When Satan posed a question to JESUS to bow down to him & worsip him, JESUS responded by saying it is GOD you must worship & him alone you must serve.. JESUS also mentions that the “FATHER is greater than i am”.. also concerning the day, He said no one knows the day nor the hour, not the Angels in Heaven nor the Son but the FATHER only… Thank you for your time.. Been sharing my faith with them since 1969 took a break for few years then dedicated my life to Jesus in 1979 Sometimes, I would answer the door other times I would not depending on my mood i.e 3 of them came few years ago at 10Am on a Sunday morning & other time they be dragging their poor little children in freezing cold. Even a Christian cannot brush aside the worship of Jehovah as God. In Revelation 1:5 the Son of God called himself “Jesus Christ, ‘The Faithful Witness.'” When on earth as a man he was a Jew, an Israelite, to whose nation the words of Isaiah 43:10 were written: “‘You are my witnesses, ‘is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘even my servant whom I have chosen.'” Jesus demonstrated that he was a faithful and true witness of Jehovah God. His genuine disciples today must be the same kind of witnesses, Jehovah’s.
A father and son are not equal so the jews were wrong with their opinion and just looking for a reason to kill him. Where does it say that the son should be worshiped?… Do you just make this up as you go along? You really didn’t put much thought into what you should say to a JW. I’m not even a christian and I can see how stupid this is.
When I saw this article in my feed I thought for sure it would be a bit cringy because, come on, everything we do a decade ago is a little bit cringy, but I am greatly surprised that this held up to time. It’s definitely 2013 style youtube (interesting how format changes across the board for anyone that has been on YouTube for 5+ years) but it was still an objectively good article. When in pairs (a trainer and a novice) I turn them away. When alone (that will be the novice going solo) I engage. When they say “Christians belief xxx.” (Usually some simplistic distortion of Christian beliefs.) I say “No I don’t.” Then I rephrase what Christians believe in a more accurate way. This is my opportunity for teaching for solid teaching as well as making their trainers like like they are ignorant, stupid, or lairs. I will usually sit down on the steps leaving them standing. I have been known to keep this running for well over an hour – all the while enjoying the sight of their trainer standing on the sidewalk across the street some two or three houses away – and clearly concerned. At the very least I have given them something to think about as well as planted seeds of doubt about the knowledge of their trainers. I keep control and keep them on the defensive.

Interpretation in John 5:18: Some interpretations view Jesus’ use of isos as claiming equality with God the Father. This emphasizes Jesus’ divine nature. Others argue Jesus uses isos to show his actions mirror God’s work, not claiming absolute equality. This focuses on Jesus fulfilling God’s will. Jesus never said he was equal to god. He said that God is his father. Being the son versus being the father are not the same thing, so they can not be said to be equal, at least not in all ways.
I befriended a JW who came to my house. We kept talking about stuff and over the process of a year or so she ended up leaving and becoming a believer. I always start with the verses using their NWT as well. To show them that Jesus is the Alpha and Omega and he calls himself that as does Jehovah. First establish Jehovah as Alpha and Omega. REV. 1:8 “I am the Alʹpha and the O·meʹga,” says Jehovah God, “the One who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty.” This is pretty straight forward but just to clarify look at the footnote it references: In the Old Testament we see multiple verses referring to Jehovah speaking Himself saying “I am the First and the Last, Alpha & Omega, the beginning and the end” Of this there is ZERO DOUBT! But just to be clear, let’s look at some: Isaiah 44:6- This is what Jehovah says, The King of Israel and his Repurchaser, Jehovah of armies: ‘I am the first and I am the last. There is no God but me.’ Isaiah 48:12- Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I have called.I am the same One. I am the first; I am also the last” (this is Jehovah God Speaking) It also references. Then take them to Revelation 22:13 I am the Alʹpha and the O·meʹga, the first and the last, the beginning and the end” At this point I tell them I agree with them about all of these things that God (Jehovah) is in fact the Alpha, Omega, first and last, beginning and end. They usually get excited and think they’ve got a convert in their midst. Then I take them to one more verse: Rev.
Let me add they are some of the nicest people I’ve met and, and surprisingly to me atleast they are more devoted then most other religions in my opinion, if only they could get it right, I always tell them that a friend of Jesus is a friend of mind we pray together and fellowship together i never push them away I always wondered why my grandparents always slammed the door in their face, as I aged I looked at the situation as I feel Jesus would and never push them away I fellowship with them, pray and always love when we can speak on the topics, this was until corona came and they stopped coming i kinda miss my sat meetings I always send them with food from my garden, just be good to people 😊
I had two of them come over about 35 mins ago. I told them I don’t fully believe in the Bible, since it is basically symbolism. Told them God is already with me. It represents energy at this time and without it, nothing would exist. I told them I look into ancient history before the Bible was here also. Since pretty much all religions get their information from earlier sources. We can find who wrote the Bible’s content and how it changed from the older histories they took it from. Then we can see it turned into a control mechanism so people will be confused on finding their true self. Which is an immortal spirit operating a physical body. We have everything we need within us and around us. No need to be giving your spiritual energy to someone else, when me are meant to rely on our inner self.
I actually eagerly await that ring on my door bell. Usually what ultimately happens is they back off the porch, back toward their car as I follow them with a smile. Once I quoted the Bible and the older woman looked puzzled and questioned whether that was in the Bible. The young boy with her assured her it was, that was when she started getting nervous and backing away. However! I am always looking for insight. Although I assume I have sown some seeds, I have never seen them concede any point.

Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.” and 26-28, and I think that one is much more powerful. “26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.” This completely disrupts the narrative of how the Jehovah witness movement began.
Great article. I think to further prepare, you must, must, must focus on verse 18 even more. I 100% agree that we are planting a seed, placing a rock in the shoe. But you may as well plant deep and smart. JWs will be looking (thinking) about any sort of way to wiggle out of this passage. I think the other question WHILE THEY ARE STANDING THERE is, “do you think the Jewish people (who wanted to harm Jesus) misunderstood what Jesus had just spoken”. That needs to be asked right then and there because that’s the “reasoning” they will use later to brush off the contradiction.
Several Years ago a JW came up and spoke with me. After a time of discussion, seeing that he was not making progress, he pivoted to IS 43:10 to show where they get their name: “You are my witnesses,” declares Jehovah.” “Great! Let’s continue”, I exclaimed. Looking at vs 15 in his bible, Jehovah declares Himself as Creator. Turning to John 1 we saw the Creator was the Logos who turns out to be Jesus. Further down in Isaiah Jehovah calls himself Lord. “Who is Lord of Lords according to Revelation” I asked. “Jesus” was the reply. “So Jesus according to this (his) bible is Lord, Creator, Jehovah.” He then left, a bit perplexed but perhaps thinking. The key was using his very own material, that he could not deny, to demonstrate who Jesus is.
.An important reason is that Jesus Christ did not die on a cross. The Greek word generally translated “cross” is stau·ros′. It basically means “an upright pale or stake.” The Companion Bible points out: “(Stau·ros′) never means two pieces of timber placed across one another at any angle . . . There is nothing in the Greek of the (New Testament) even to imply two pieces of timber.” In several texts, Bible writers use another word for the instrument of Jesus’ death. It is the Greek word xy′lon. (Acts 5:30; 10:39; 13:29; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 2:24) This word simply means “timber” or “a stick, club, or tree.” The most convincing proof of all, however, comes from God’s Word. The apostle Paul says: “Christ by purchase released us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse instead of us, because it is written: ‘Accursed is every man hanged upon a stake (“a tree,” King James Version).’” (Galatians 3:13) Here Paul quotes Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, which clearly refers to a stake, not a cross. Since such a means of execution made the person “a curse,” it would not be proper for Christians to decorate their homes with images of Christ impaled. So if there was a chance that this is true it means that people are putting Jesus onto a pagan symbol, and the best policy here is that if there is a chance that Jesus did not die on a cross then WHY put him on a pagan symbol, how would God (Jehovah) feel about it ? If in doubt leave it out !
JWs I use to be a JW until they expelled me from the Kingdom Hall they gave me 6 chances to repent from my wrong doings and I finally decided I wasn’t ever gonna go back there again and guess what ? My question for you. who created everything? who ressurected Jesus? who created him? what was the purpose of coming to the earth and living as a simple man and died ? If he was God why he died he could live forever. from where he got the power ? if he is god then why he is calling father? whats is the meaning of his name? if he has name then what is his father name? christain celebrate his birthday on 25th december show me the accurate scripture mentioning his birth date? I have also quoted Thomas’ words in John 20:28 of the New World Translation, where he calls Jesus, “My Lord and my God.” Jesus did not rebuke him for blasphemy, but said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet have believed.” The senior Jehovah’s Witness replied, “Oh, we don’t want to get into an argument,” and immediately left.
In the app for Jw when you read John 5 – 18 they are study notes where it says when it’s talking about a verse in the Bible account that you are reading so if you get the jw there will be study notes and then when you go to John 5:18 and there’s a little gem well that you can click where it shows you all these study notes and when you do that go to 18 and then it will talk about that you’re saying Jesus is God and it’s saying that Jesus is not God so what’s your point
One thing about their bible that is good, they restored the passage in matthew 24, which states that a Roman pierced Jesus’s side, and blood and water ran out…this was a part of all bibles when I was a child….it has been removed from most bibles in recent years…research it, folks, and what it means.
John 1:1 in the NWT says, “The word was a god”. The original Greek says, “logos ho theos”, which means “The Word was God” Greek scholars will tell you that there is no article Such as “a” in that passage at all! Verse 14 says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us”. By the way, all of the Gospel of John (not NWT) is good reading for who Jesus is! Also, look at John 10:30. Be Blessed!
wait. Im a born again christian. I remembered when I was 16 years old, I was the only one in our house, and a married couple of JW knocked and come into. I welcomed them and offered them a seat. That time, I never knew that theyre religion dont believe Jesus Christ is Lord. I somehow allowed them to enter because I dont want to reject the followers of christ (lol) So, the conversation went long and far. And theyve asked to pray for me. And said “yes, sure” heres the prayer: God our Jehova, Bless this young lady… me: Yes, Jesus..
Consider also John 3:3 & 5, where Jesus says that unless a person is born again, that person cannot see (understand) nor enter the kingdom of God. Their material from the US tells them that only 144000 people are born again, other JW people will not be. If so, how can these other JW people understand or enter the Kingdom of God?
One time in middle school two Jehovah’s witnesses came to my door. For some reason I opened it. They asked me if I knew anything about Jesus and I told them I was saved, but I was freaking out and wondering where my dad was, hoping he would swoop in. Eventually he did, and when everything was over I asked him “why didn’t you come sooner??” and he said “I wanted to see what you could do”. It definitely made me realize I had a lot left to learn and had ample room to grow in my faith haha.
