Which Chakra Has A Connection To The Neurological System?

The autonomic system, consisting of the sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system, is responsible for preparing the body for action and increasing heart rate and glucose. The throat chakra, or Vishuddha, corresponds to the cervical plexus of nerves. The primary chakras, located down the spine, may correspond to the central nervous system. Their connection to specific aspects of health may relate to different nerve plexuses.

The chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC and can be considered our body’s subtle energy system. There are seven main chakras, each with a unique meaning about our body, life, and health. Blocked chakras can affect our health and what can be done to balance or unblock them.

The seven major chakras are lined up along and entwined around the central nerve-column called the “Sushumna” in Sanskrit. This main energetic channel of our body corresponds to our endocrine system. Some of the main chakra positions bear an extraordinary close resemblance to the nervous system, which we now know from the science of anatomy and physiology.

Chakras are associated with major nerve networks within the body, which connect from the brain/spine via the major Vagus nerve to the glands. The primary chakras, located down the spine, may correspond to the central nervous system. The solar plexus is primarily associated with the sympathetic nervous system. The manipura chakra and its associated functions are connected to the vagus nerve. In the human body, there are seven chakras, connected anatomically to the body’s primary nerve plexus and medically to endocrine glands.

Does meditation heal vagus nerve?

Deep breathing and meditation have been demonstrated to activate the vagus nerve, which in turn calms the network of nerves controlling physiological processes. These practices have been demonstrated to not only lower heart rate but also reduce blood pressure levels, as reported by Gonzales.

Which chakra is lazy?

Sushupti, or laziness, represents the final vritti, indicating a desire to conserve energy or remain in a state of stagnation. This may be indicative of a weak Manipura chakra, which may manifest as a lack of motivation or inspiration.

Is vagus nerve neurological?

Vagal nerves are crucial in involuntary sensory and motor functions, such as digestion, heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration. They can be affected by conditions such as gastroparesis, which occurs when a vagus nerve stops food from entering the intestines, and vaovagal syncope, which occurs when a vagus nerve to the heart overreacts to extreme heat, anxiety, hunger, pain, or stress, leading to rapid blood pressure drops and dizziness. Symptoms of vagus nerve problems vary depending on the cause and affected part of the nerve.

Which chakra affects mental health?

The Base Chakra is associated with an individual’s inner security, stability, and mental traits. Its absence can result in the development of mental health issues. It represents the embodiment of consciousness in the physical realm, which serves as the foundational element for all subsequent chakras.

Which chakra makes you intelligent?

The Sahasrara, or Crown Chakra, represents higher consciousness and spiritual connection. The chakras are interconnected and significantly influence our mental states. They can be seen as a river of energy flowing through our body, with blockages and imbalances causing disturbances. The Muladhara, or Root Chakra, forms the foundation of our being and impacts our sense of survival, security, and stability. In imbalance, feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety may arise. A balanced root chakra promotes a grounded and stable mental state, promoting safety and calmness.

Which chakra makes you rich?

Money and security are primarily governed by the lower three chakras (Root, Sacral, and Solar plexus). If the root chakra is imbalanced, one may hoard money or avoid it altogether. Many people desire more money but often struggle to achieve it. By working with their energy or chakra system, they can see real results in making more money and feeling better about money. This improved attitude attracts clients, opportunities, and inspired ideas.

To break the cycle of money worry and use the chakras to make more money, follow these three tips: 1) Eliminate the vicious cycle of money worry, 2) Use the chakras to help you make more money, and 3) Get into your abundant flow.

Is the vagus nerve related to chakras?

The vagus nerve, which plays a pivotal role in facilitating communication between the brain, the digestive system, and the heart, can be harnessed as a psychological and spiritual healing tool, with the guidance of the seven chakras.

What chakra for nervous system?

The crown chakra, linked to every other chakra and organ in the system, affects the brain and nervous system, affecting our connection to life’s purpose and spirituality. It is considered the chakra of enlightenment and represents our connection to our life’s purpose and spirituality. Blocked crown chakras may lead to narrow-mindedness, skepticism, or stubbornness. Open crown chakras help keep all other chakras open, bringing bliss and enlightenment.

Chakra patterns have specific terms and recommended treatments. If you’re interested in chakras, information about chakra balancing and realignment can be found, which can involve yoga, meditation, chakra cleansing, bodywork, and music. These practices can help maintain a balance and promote enlightenment.

Which chakra is for brain power?

The third eye, also known as the Ajna chakra, is located between the eyebrows and is believed to control intellect, intuition, wisdom, and spiritual power. It is often used in asana practice as a focal point. An open and balanced third eye allows for noticing connections in the world and beyond. An underactive third eye can manifest as headaches, migraines, or blurry vision. Balancing the third eye frees one from earthly attachments. The crown chakra, also known as the “thousand petal lotus” chakra, is the highest of the seven main chakras and is violet or white.

  • This is a complete game changer! As someone who is chronically stuck in fight or flight, the shock at how instantly my body has relaxed from head to toe, and how my anxiety has eased is huge. Everyone should be taught this alongside CBT and other self help techniques. Why aren’t Dr’s telling people to do this?! Thank you. So happy to have found this article.

  • This is remarkable!! I have been dealing with sympathetic nervous dysfunction for years as a result of a spinal injury and this method has helped me tremendously. My body is stuck in a figh or flight mode and this method immediately brought my heart rate down and gave me an overwhelming sense of relief and calm. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ I have new optimism on improving sleep and sense of bell being 🙏

  • I watched this article 1 and 1/2 months ago and started doing these exercises right before bed. I hadn’t been sleeping well for 4 months. The first time I did it, I fell asleep right away. I’ve been doing this every night and have been sleeping so much better. I fall asleep in just a few minutes. Thank you so much Dr. Mandell for all your articles. I really appreciate all the time you share. Your energy is so special.

  • I’m so glad this popped up for me tonight. I’m battling terrible anxiety and have used several exercises that you have taught here, Dr Mandell. Talk therapy has not helped me much and side affects from my anxiety are getting the best of me. Thank you so very much for sharing these wonderful gems with us. They really are a tremendous gift. 💯

  • This is amazing!!!! I have CPTSD, fibromyalgia, Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome and Gastroperisis so my body is always under immense stress every single moment. I just tried this and I felt calm, my brain fog eased up, my whole head and face feel like pressure has been released and my chest and ribs no longer feel tight! I’m going to continue doing this multiple times a day to see what happens. Thank you so much!!!

  • One time i did this exercise and felt nothing so I thought it didn’t work, but today I realize i didn’t actually need it that day. Now i started this article with my legs shaking restlessly and after just the first exercise immediately my legs stopped shaking and i felt like he said (to the floor) just a calm over all feeling took over, nothing magical but the restlessness I felt melted away and instead my mind became more clear and my body calm. Thank you sir 😌

  • Thanks, Doc. I wish I would’ve had this back in 2020 when I was hospitalized for an Afib attack. The hospital fixed my Afib but after I went home I was near death for about a month. My sympathetic nervous system took over my body with a vengeance. Sound therapy saved my life. I can definitely feel the calmness covering my body with your technique.

  • So… my kundalini yoga teacher taught us to press into the thymus firmly when hands are in prayer position, for several breathing techniques, specifically to stimulate the thymus, just like in your first exercise, so I’ve been doing that one, and it works. I just did the thumb/pituitary pressure, and about 5 seconds in, definitely felt some light buzzing going on in my brain and forehead. I didn’t sleep last night, and had the worst headache this morning. These definitely helped. Thank you.

  • I have struggled to sleep for many years now due to osteoarthritis, severe fibromyalgia and CPS. This is my first time perusal you so I will be trying these methods from tonight going forward as sleeping tablets have not helped at all. Due to lack of real REM sleep I’m feeling low, anxious and depressed so I’m really hoping this works for me and will come back and let you know the outcome. Many thanks for the advice. Hopefully it helps the millions of others who suffer the same issues.

  • I love this technique, but he reached the last technique of going to the ground, I Remembered as Muslims, that I could pray 2 Rukaas and in that I would get 2 in 1, giving myself peace in mind, get a reward from Allah(God) for my prayer😉. But I will do the combination, will do the 2 techniques then do the prayer 👍🏼

  • Just had a bunch of trauma recently, and lost my good friend. In a very difficult situation and all this compounded everything with more bad news relate to trauma and amplifying it. Did these techniques thinking, “At least I will have only wasted a few minutes if it doesn’t work.” Well, the first one made me mentally calmer, but my heart was still racing. The second one caused my heart to calm down the second time I did it. This was amazing.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this article. I have been suffering with panic attacks and heightened anxiety and I can feel after only doing the first exercise a handful of times, I feel a massive release sense of relief already. This will be a regular routine for me now. My head felt really fuzzy at first after carrying out this exercise. There was a phenomenal amount of anxiety stuck in my chest which has now been released. The first time for a long time my mind feels a bit clearer, like a blockage has been removed. Thank you once again for sharing.

  • The past person played with my feelings for 1 and a half years. He wasn’t willing to commit fully or to work on his issues… This was also a spiritual connection… It was very difficult to distance from him because he’s also my next door neighbour… I’m done being played with…. It was just never enough for him. So leaving that in the past and of to a new beginning! Bigger and better! Thanks for the reading❤🙏

  • This literally relaxed my diaphragm in my back where I have soooo much pain! I suffered from the medicine resperidone and it shut my central nervous system down and they thought I had a tumor on the gland at the base of my brain to a specific type of hormonal cancer…this made me nauseous bc of The release it gave me…I can feel my vagus nerve ticking it’s own beat at a slower rate than usual…this was magical, tysm!!!!!! Might I add I did the article twice and used both thumbs which really kicked it in for me

  • Incredible – I wouldn’t have believed it without doing it. I’m recovering from a severe panic attack, where my heart felt like it exploded. Within 10 secs of doing the left thumb, I started discharging like crazy – yawning, sobbing, laughing. I had to stop because my dog started freaking out !!Absolutely amazing. I’m your new disciple!!😄

  • As per the usual, these worked great. As a lifelong sufferer of anxiety, I always look for new and helpful tips. These two are going in my bag of tricks, especially the thumb squeeze. That’s like magic. Now I’ve gotta try out the perinium technique for constipation. Thanks Doc! Your articles are worth thousands and we are blessed to get them for free.

  • I stumbled across this article the other day and had saved it. Came home early from work today due to a migraine and just randomly remembered this so I gave it a try. It made a huge improvement in just a rounds of doing this. Enough that I can relax and hopefully feel better completely in short order. The only thing that’s brought me consistent relief from my migraines up until now has been high CBD oil via a vape pen that I keep at home, but the stuff is expensive. Very grateful to find a method that works almost as well but costs me nothing.

  • I can see how this can be life changing. I tried it this morning while still in bed. I was having diffiuclty getting out of bed to shower and get ready for my work day. I tried both techniques. They immediately shifted my mood, calmed my nervous system and allowed me to feel ready to get up and do what I needed to. So, it seems I was in a frozen type of stress state and these techniques freed me from that, moving me into a state of action and movement. WOW! I am impressed. Could these be considered as part of the Polyvagal stress relieving techniques?

  • This is one of the most helpful pieces of info I have come across in helping my body relax when it is in the grip of the “off” symptoms labeled Parkinson’s. I can literally feel it working first in my brain as I breathe, then through my body and legs and feet as I do the thumb moves, effect continuing for some time after and it speeds up my recovery. It also starts releasing the pressure that builds up in head and sinus at these times. Reply glad to have found this – Thankyou.

  • WOW! Thank you Dr., you’re the only Dr. I will listen to, after losing faith in Drs. due to the lack of concern for my well being. I’d leave their office, highly frustrated because they offered very little, if any, help for whatever I was experiencing at the time. I simply stopped going. I’ve subscribed and follow you on every media platforms and you’ve helped me, tremendously, with your medical advice and techniques. Thank you for being here for us all who’s had the same experience and felt as I have about M.D.s 💗

  • Thank you very much,Dr.Mandell for your help and the way you present it❤. I have a question to this exercise. Immediatly, when I started it,I had to cry and shed a lot of tears. I’ve got deep sorrows for s. o. for years who ist very sick. The Situation can’t be changed, though.I do what I can do,functioned and hardly ever cried. But with this exercise I cry a River!Should I go on doing this or better stop working with these Points??? Thank you!

  • This works. I had a mini bout of dizziness/vertigo due to not getting good quality sleep lately and body feeling tired from keeping itself cool in the heat, and I looked up reiki for nervous system and this techniques came up. I tried the exact technique he demonstrated and did it on both hands, and wow did I feel my brain/body relaxing and sinuses clearing. I didn’t realize how out of whack I felt before I tried this! I feel more calm, grounded and primed for a good sleep. I definitely felt more in my body too and less in my head! Energy medicine and acupressure works ! Thank you Dr. M !!

  • I am always open to learning new tools to help myself feel better, reduce anxiety and sleep better. I did both of these tools last night before bed and felt a calming affect for sure. Subtle but real. I thought wow, ok another type of calming type meditation/breath work to add to my tool box to draw on as resources for me. I felt grateful. Wow … man oh man ! I had nightmares within 1-2 hours of falling asleep. Real vivid nightmare that woke me up but I fell back to sleep pretty quickly only to be awakened again another hour later by more nightmares. This time my heart was pounding so bad and I was very disturbed, I was awake for almost 3 hours. I spent that time in meditation, prayer and journaling. After the 3 hour self care I went back to bed and had another night mare ! WTH?!!!?? 😳😱🧐 I’m afraid to utilize this again tonight. I have a condition called C-PTSD and DID (diagnosed 30 years ago and currently in therapy as a result of the ins and outs of these conditions. Wondering what if any correlation this exercise has to bring to the surface trauma emotion related stuff?

  • Boa noite, querido Dr. Mandell!!!

  • Wow! Thank you! I got back from a bike ride and my heart rate wasn’t coming down. I started panicking, trying to breathe slowly and relax. Didn’t work. My heart rate was 145 just sitting here. I was wondering whether to go to the hospital. Tingling fingers…felt weird. Did the above, and my heart rate came down to 82bpm (normal after a hard ride; my usual resting heart rate is low 50s, or low 40s in my sleep). I probably shouldn’t have ridden so hard after the g&t I had at the pub 4 miles from home.

  • I’m really grateful for all of these help Dr Alan. I’m your follower even before you got your million subscribers (years before this pandemic). My vision for this website came true, got millions of subscribers and followers which it truly deserves. God is really great. Thank you so much doc and God bless.

  • Mo Doc, I realized publish date on this vid . Wondering why I haven’t seen this before now . June ’22 . Been subscribed for over half a decade and watched and learned from you for double time subscribed . I’ve even been to your website, but don’t recall seeing this Neurophysiological Parasympathetic ( rest and digest nerves ? ) trick to calm down a BUNCH of notches . I am one of the shocked !!!! Thank you Mo Doc !!!!

  • When I did the thumb, I felt a weird sensation in my spine, then had a tiny panic attack feeling for a second, which dissapated quickly. I had severe somatic symptoms all afternoon and evening, and have been having episodes of stroke-high blood pressure for three years now and the doctors don’t know why. I am at the end of my rope,so hopefully I can learn some tips to heal now.Thank you Doctor.

  • Daniel Weinberg 0 seconds ago I have suffered from tinnitus for almost 3yrs.I am starting Dr Mandell’s therapy today. I have an additional problem when I turn my neck chew or yawn my tinnitus gets louder Does anyone at there have that symptom as well as the sound coming from the ear Thanks for your feed back

  • I have pituitary-dependent Cushing’s Disease. 4.5 years post pituitary adenoma resection. Not much relief of symptoms. Most Cushing’s patients never fully recover from the anxiety and insomnia issues. I’m going to give these techniques a try. Especially interested in stimulating the pituitary gland. Interestingly, I’ve noticed that when my cortisol levels are up, the outer edges of my thumbnails get brittle and break.

  • Hi Dr M! Thank you for this – I definitely felt a shift in the thumb exercise – sinuses opened, brain felt refreshed but calm. Can you please steer me in the right direction – I want to learn how this works – what is the nerve or meridian/connection. I’d love to understand the science behind it. If you are able to explain or post a link I would really appreciate it – thank you x

  • Greetings from Hunedoara, Romania. Congratulations! I’m Erwin, and when the weather changes, that’s when my end comes…, in other words, I feel the sudden change in temperature, from cold to warm and vice versa, like fog, I can anticipate the weather forecast through intercostal neuralgic pains. I want to write to you that I had a respiratory virus when I was 20 years old, but as a small child I had “nerves in my stomach”, as I explain in a simplified way that anyone can understand. I would like to ask you what you think happens when the weather changes, because only when the weather changes do I have these manifestations, mood changes, anxiety, palpitations, even from the wind blowing irregularly. Do you think it’s about the autonomic nervous system, sympathetic/parasympathetic, only, or also the vagus nerve, and what exercises would you recommend?! Thank you very much. With respect and honest friendship, Erwin. 🤗

  • So I am pretty familiar with several vagus nerve and breath work exercise which stimulate the relaxed state, and have been doing the for a while. Yes I noticed some benefits here and there. But after years of use, I’m not seeing much effect anymore, also I am just burnt out from doing them all the time.. Yesterday I had a session with a psychologist and she told me this; to calm down when we are activated, we should actually do exercises and breathwork which will stimulate the sympathetic system. The reason for this is to complete the stress cycle and to deplete the adrenaline/cortisone excretion as well as burn it off. Makes sense, because once the stress hormones are released what good are calming exercises? The stress hormones are already in the system, parasympathetic exercises won’t get rid of them. If anything it will confuse your body and nervous system and suppress the stress cycle (trauma much??). Completing the stress cycle using sympathetic exercises is also synonymous with the , in that trauma is unprocessed stress. Moreover sympathetic exercises are what build resilience in the nervous system. There is a notion in Neuro-physiology which states that whats very important is how the stress comes about; Stress that came to us against our will is bad, however stress which we summoned deliberately has a different (positive) neuro-physiological effect. Also many breath-work practitioners such as Wim Hoff seem to lean more towards sympathetic breath-work (rapid mouth breathing), no? Thoughts?

  • I too feel relaxed after applying these techniques. I am suffering from POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) due to which my life has become miserable and I feel helpless. Is there any solution for this problem ( this is a problem of Autonomic Nervous System). Please advice some solution.

  • When is the best time to implement this for weightlifting. I suppose afterwards, as I presume when exercise it’s better to be in a sympathetic state in order to maximise blood flow to big muscles… Is it better to do it straight after exercise to enter recovery, or do it an hour later in order to maintain sympathetic blood flow to large muscles after exercise?
