Is there any scientific research on astrology?

Astrology is a belief system that suggests a connection between astronomical phenomena and human events or personality descriptions. However, it has been criticized by the scientific community for lacking explanatory power and scientific testing has found no evidence to support its premises or effects. The most famous test, led by Shawn Carlson, concluded that natal astrology performed no better than chance. Astrology has not demonstrated its effectiveness in controlled studies and has no scientific validity, making it regarded as pseudoscience.

There is no proposed mechanism by which stars and planets’ positions and motions could affect people and events on Earth in the way astrologers claim, which contradicts well-understood aspects of biology and physics. Modern scientific inquiry into astrology focuses on the correlation between astrological traditions and the influence of seasonal birth in humans.

What does the Bible say about astrology?

In Matthew 28:18, Jesus asserts that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. This contradicts biblical wisdom, as chasing after false gods is a sin. Do philosophers believe in astrology?

Astrology in Hellenistic and Late Antiquity was a complex and multifaceted field that aimed to understand an individual’s position in relation to the cosmos during a time of rapid political and social changes. Philosophers of the time, including Stoic philosophers like Posidonius, Panaetius, and Diogenes of Babylon, took up polemics against astrology while accepting some astral theories. Some, like Plotinus, viewed horoscopic astrology as absurd, while others, like the early Church Fathers, argued that astrological fatalism contradicted the Christian doctrine of free will.

The Gnostics, who believed the cosmos was the product of an evil creator, saw planets as participants in material entrapment. Neoplatonists like Porphyry, Iamblichus, and Proclus found some aspects of astrology compatible with their Neoplatonic philosophy. The cultural importance of astrology was evident in the strong reactions and involvement of various philosophers in late antiquity. The adaptability of astrology to various philosophical schools and the borrowing of astrologers from diverse philosophies provided dynamic examples of the rich “eclecticism” or “syncretism” that characterized the Hellenistic world.

How to prove astrology is real?

Astrology, a long-standing scientific field, has been criticized for lacking clear evidence that stars and planets affect us. Astrology relies on stories and ideas that are difficult to prove with science, as it relies on guessing about patterns in the sky rather than conducting experiments. Additionally, astrology’s workings are based on old ideas about the universe, which have evolved over time. This has led to some astrologers’ predictions not aligning with current knowledge.

For example, the zodiac sign may not be accurate due to precession, which has caused stars to move since the first invention of astrology. Furthermore, astrology lacks a clear explanation for how stars and planets could affect us, with some astrologers suggesting it is due to the stars, but scientists argue these theories are too weak to have a significant impact on us.

Physiognomy, a practice that has been widely accepted since ancient times, is considered pseudoscience by academics due to its unsupported claims. However, popular belief in physiognomy is still widespread, and advances in artificial intelligence have sparked renewed interest in the field. Physiognomy was popularized by Johann Kaspar Lavater and later fell into disrepute in the 16th century. Today, physiognomy is a subject of renewed scientific interest, particularly in machine learning and facial recognition technology.

The main concern for scientists today is the risks, including privacy concerns, of physiognomy in the context of facial recognition algorithms. Physiognomy, also known as anthroposcopy, dates back to antiquity and is often referred to as anthroposcopy. Notions of the relationship between an individual’s outward appearance and inner character date back to antiquity, with early Greek poetry and ancient Indian texts defining personal characteristics with body features.

  • Astrology isn’t science? Wow, tell me something I don’t know. I’ve been reading astrology since I was 12 and I never purported to tell people it has any scientific basis. However, I do believe if scientist wanted to they could measure the level of accuracy for predictions related to personality traits and relationship compatibility. Furthermore….with regards to what Lesee says about astrologists that were tested in the studies and failed. I have a problem with her calling them astrologists. Because since there is no scientific basis for astrology, anyone can call themselves an astrologist. You don’t have to go to school or get a degree. There is no formal education process. So, I wonder what kind of “astrologists” were invited to participate in these studies. When it comes to science Lessee is pretty on point usually, but when it comes to topics she knows nothing about or have any interest in researching, she should just keep comments to herself or at least invite someone who has years of experience so that this article isnt totally biased. ASTROLOGY IS REAL! and the truth of the matter is science can only explain so much until there is nothing left to be explained except to turn to a higher level of consciousness beyond anybody’s control, even people who base their entire lives only on what they can hear and see, rather than trusting their own instincts or in the case of astrology, trusting the stars.

  • Horrible… in one hand, the guest is saying that as per Jyotish rules.. no one should tell on the face about the date / time of death… but here, the death time of Salman and Shahrukh has been predicted. Out of all stars, the divorce of Disha Patani was predicted. Jumping from one topic to another, without any clarity… please stop such kind of podcasts in the future.. 😫

  • Not surprised about life span of Srk, Salman, Anant and Akash, their health is already falling. Sonakshi husband always had bad vibes. Aryan Khan is sad. Surprised about future of Puri, its my ancestral place, my family history in Puri goes back to 300 yrs and also attack on India. Please protect Modi ji, Lod Jagannath. I will visit Puri this winter, seek blessings of Prabhu.

  • interviewer doesn’t have decency to talk such a senior guest. Very bad,he needs to learns manners, decency how to put questions, everybody please check….how interviewer is talking.Today any silly, guy is becoming u- tuber, though they have no knowledge, experience, maturity, decency & nor they r learning nor improving, disgusting.

  • Sahil :-This astrologer is spreading negativity on your show! If you continue to feature immature guests like this, people will stop perusal you . A mature astrologer shouldn’t constantly focus on negative predictions. He should learn to balance . It’s important to remember that the law of attraction and manifestation play significant roles in our lives. Hearing his constant utterances about disasters/wars in India or the marriage failures of celebrities can lead India and the film stars to inadvertently manifest these negative outcomes. And Sahil, this effect is real! Just as the placebo effect works in medicine, belief in what we hear ( especially from a person of this background ) can influence our reality. So ok ! Sorry to give this example, but Imagine if he predicts your own death in two days; it could lead to self-fulfilling prophecies, even if the forecast is baseless. I urge you to consider inviting more neutral guests on your show. This astrologer seems to be driven by an anti-India agenda, and it’s not beneficial for your audience. Hope you’ll read and understand my comment with patience 🙏
