Which Spells For Warlocks Cause Green Fire?

The Warlock Green Fire is a unique visual effect for Destruction Warlocks that can be obtained through a series of warlock-exclusive quests related to the Council of the Black Harvest. The Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion is a rare and normal item that can be obtained from mobs on the Isle of Thunder. The Codex of Xerrath, a passive Warlock ability learned by defeating Kanrethad Ebonlocke, can be colored green for various abilities such as Rain of Fire, Burning Rush, Hellfire, Immolate, Conflagrate, Incinerate, Soul Fire.

The Codex of Xerrath is a cosmetic item that can be purchased from the Auction House and is purely cosmetic. It can be used to change all naturally orange fire spells into bright green fel charged magic. The fire appearance should be bound to the spells rather than chars, and the green fel fire color on spells should be glyphed or only be used on certain spells.

The Codex of Xerrath can be unlocked by defeating Kanrethad Ebonlocke at the end of the Pursuing the Black Harvest scenario. This quest chain is the beginning of the quest line for Warlocks to obtain green fire effects for specific spells. The video “The Complete Quick Guide” provides guidance on how to complete the quest to obtain green fire abilities on your warlock.

How to get green flames on warlock?

In Patch 5. 2. 0, a series of warlock-exclusive quests was introduced, focusing on the Council of the Black Harvest. Completing the quest chain grants the Warlock the Codex of Xerrath, a passive ability learned by defeating Kanrethad Ebonlocke and completing the Pursuing the Black Harvest scenario. This ability corrupts all Warlock’s fire spells with fel magic, giving them a green, entropic fire effect. The quest series begins with looting the Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion, which can be fused with a Healthstone to create an Unusual Tome.

Warlocks must turn in Reader for the Dead Tongue to a trainer in Stormwind or Orgrimmar, read a book explaining the Council of the Black Harvest, locate the Soulstones in Jubeka’s Journal, head to the entrance of the Black Temple, and infiltrate the Black Temple by looking for her mark. This allows Warlocks to enter a special version of the Black Temple and complete the “Pursuing the Black Harvest” event.

  • Thank you so much for the detailed article with clear, detailed instructions. As others have written, it made most of this a breeze. As of time of writing, getting the tome from Auction House was just over 3000 gold on my server, if that helps anyone contextualize the grinding versus paying path. Some tips on the maze as of Dragonflight 10.2.5: – Dismiss pet, as mentioned in article; if you’re Demonology spec, be sure you DO NOT have the ‘Inner Demons’ talent (passively summons imps every 12 seconds). They trigger the barriers in the maze, and they will continue to summon. – The Eye of Kilrogg will provide you with about 1 second of visibility for the maze walls. – Take off any armor that has durability (there is also an anvil to repair at the end of the maze and the entrance to this instance after entering the gate), just in case you die some needless imp deaths, like me. – It seems like Demonic Gateway does not trigger the barriers, but I didn’t test this thoroughly. – If in doubt about your first steps into the maze, set a Demonic Circle. If ghosts come to get you, teleport back and make a run for it! Thanks again for your help, Haughty Chicken!

  • Quick shout out abut the first demons part. you don’t actually have to summon all your demons but you can.. the ones you need are ether A: Observer – he is a smart * and knows both the language and purpose of the book, he answers it all without other demons needed B: Succubus OR felguard (wraith guard also works, not sure about incubus) – these both can tell you the language. your Void walker can tell you the purpose of the book. imp knows nothing and felhunter just tilts his head at you (not surprised, its like asking your dog to find your bank card xD). if you like lore and fluff I recommend you summon them all anyway as its not often we get to interact with our demons I only suggest this for anyone who is trying to do this as quickly as possible and save time ^^

  • My server is pretty populated, but after a few hours of running the spots and killing a couple of the rares, it dropped for me. Also, be nice and use a Curse to tag the mobs rather than 1shotting them in front of someones nose, I cooperated with another Lock and we both used a curse on the rares and then one killed it. Always gives you a drop despite not having dealt damage. And the more Locks do it, the less populated the area has to be in general 🙂

  • thought i would post this here if your quest bugs and is not in your log try to reload and if it doesnt work go into the black temple raid entrance and once you come back out head to the door and the rune should be on it this is the second time this quest bugged for me, just wanted the coords for the stone

  • So I’m in orgrimmar to turn in the reader of the dead tongue quest to my warlock trainer. The quest is showing he’s kind of in the middle of the map but I don’t see him where to w question mark is. I can however talk to a guard and shows me where another trainer is but I can’t turn the quest in to him

  • god i remember doing this for the black harvest achieve on my main warlock, since taurens got warlocks ive been meaning to do this for a long while but always thought i had to do the painful process all over again, seeing this vid it sure has alot taken alot out of the chain so hopefully ill have a better time doing this XD i wish blizz would make this acc wide though

  • The maze of death was such fkn Bullsh*t. Even when i’m not even touching the damn things, they spawn a ghost, which makes me think i Did get too close, i move to the side, which triggers Another ghost which i Also was nowhere fkn close to, and then they continuously keep spawning one after the other, even if i don’t move after the first spawns. Leave it to blizzard to take a fun idea and absolutely sh*t the bed with it.

  • Back in the day I had this, worked on it for months, as I was spinning the power went out at my house, when I logged back on the quest wasn’t finished and I had no green fire I was forced to do it again, so I opened a ticket and spoke to a GM and they wouldn’t restore my green fire so I quit. I was so pissed because I had been an original member account holder since day one, everyone always seem to have better gear, or the phoenix mount I’ve been trying for years, and finally after months and months of trying to do this, hey, back in 2014, this was hard and the mechanic of the fight was insane to solo. But as I lvled up and got better gear did better rotations and strategy guides, lots of stupid work, finally got it was in the bursts of og God thank you finally and YES spinning around in a ball filling up with that delicious green fel magic and pop transformer down the street blew up and power went out. And when I hear that GMs used to do anything lol nope not for me. I was so pissed. According to the GM, The system showed I had just won the fight, but then logged off so I was told it looked like I quit before I was given green fire. I said no, I was spinning and the power went out, why would I log off…some real grade A, genuine BS is all I got, so I quit lol got a life, went to school became a Firefighter. Now I’m retired and in thinking about coming back lol. Cheers all!

  • Back then it was very hard ) i was so undeargeared for this battle And the worst thing was that the new patch was supposed to come out in a week and I would no longer be able to get the achievement. i tried every day for 5-6 days and finally i got the achievement. It was hard, i was burning, few times i almost break keyboard =))) but feeling after i killed him was amazing! it’s one of the best quests and amazing boss battle!
