Good Omens Season 2 is a six-episode series that hit Prime Video on July 28. The show follows the story of Gabriel, who has slowly formed a secret romantic relationship with the head demon Beelzebub (Shelley Conn) following the events of the first season. The finale of the series has a heartbreaking ending for Crowley and Aziraphale, who face off against an army of demons and decide to hide Gabriel.
The episode ends with a big moment for David Tennant’s and Michael Sheen’s characters, who say that the moment makes sense, even if it’s a surprise. The intimate moment was accidentally spoiled via an early promo for the Prime Video series’ second season, which executive producer Neil Gaiman said left him “heartbroken”.
Aziraphale faces a dilemma in the finale, as he blows up his halo to protect his friends in the bookshop, declaring war on hell. Crowley returns to his Bentley, rejecting Heaven and being rejected by Aziraphale. The finale is a perfect encapsulation of the dramatic possibilities of their differing stances, with Aziraphale seeing all he can solve with divine intervention.
Neil Gaiman, the author of Good Omens, has expressed his concerns about the show’s ending and what might happen if it’s not renewed for season 3. Crowley discovers that Gabriel opposed Armageddon, causing God to demote him and strike him of his memories. Aziraphale, Maggie, and Maggie’s decisions have a significant impact on the show’s overall narrative.
