At 50…I love AMORICA as much as The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion….I was about 24 and without a care in the world when I saw The Black Crowes…no responsibilities ….. I had girlfriends and bands and never ending parties, danger…there was always more. Even though I was and still am a metal guitarist I dug deep into The Black Crowes, what a party those decades were. Like Ronnie Dio said…”but the magick that we’ll feel is worth a lifetime” or some shit like that….come on Magpie Salute, can’t wait to see ya.
awhile ago the sound seemed like you were listening through a flange or something, it’s better but audibly sounds MUCH better right at the end (???) I loved this album for more reasons than one. Can the audio just be good all the way through? at 4:34 approx, Boom, full stereo… awesome but why not before?
I miss the ’90’s. Guess I always will. Was a great decade at the beginning at least. The last part kind of sucked and became more like these days, but ’88 to ’96 was great. Weird though, listening to my parents that grew up in the Vietnam era, I don’t think there is ever a bad time to be in your teens/early 20’s. People just view life differently at that age, and it all seems great, at least looking back. I had lots of moments as a teen thinking life was better in the 60’s, lol. WrongGeneration!
Did you ever hear The one about last year It was all a lie Ain’t it funny how the time flies What we gonna do baby What is left for us to prove I’ve never stolen nothing, not a thing Tried to stay away from this year’s Big thing Ain’t as easy as it seems To find a mutual dream Can you tell me wrong from right Do you know when to freeze or take flight Can you tell me more or less I got to know-confess (Chorus:) Don’t neglect me Come be my conspiracy Don’t neglect me Come be my conspiracy Now you got a question about your answer Say try your Adam’s apple You talk it try it bite it right So now you want to fight? OK Let’s step outside I got tradition in addition My definition it don’t hold me back Well what you think about that What you don’t understand This is a very old land Can you tell me wrong from right Do you know when to freeze or take flight Can you tell me more or less I got to know-confess
The whole song is awesome. But, I’ve always really liked that ending and it’s unconventional rhyme. “…and I pray. And I pray. Every night and every (“day” – or it should be. But we get) night…conspiracy Yay!” I always use this song as an example of a stellar vocal performance from a vocalist not known for having an extraordinary voice or vocal range.
All their albums are good, this one might be the best to start with in my opinion, but i began with shake your money maker, and was an avid fan until Lions and by that time i was engulfed in my career and didnt listen to much anymore except occasionally i might have listened to Spotify, but im still a fan, and have al the cds and i have bootlegs i collected from when i worked at a record store, and ive seen the crowes twice once i think on a twisted Christmas tour, and i own their double album with led Zeppelin. Its been forever since ive listened to any cds and none of these music articles look familiar and i certainly never conmected the black crowes to the occult but they are musicians so i dont think the two are inseparable, but what do i know?
Aguante TBC forever👏👏🎸🎤🎼
What the shit? This is the worst audio version I’ve ever heard. Take a note, everyone, please: Re-masters ALWAYS suck, they are marketing gimmicks. I fail to understand why people tolerate music LITERALLY reengineered for lesser devices’ audio limitations. It makes my heart hurt to think that anyone here thinks that the audio from this article is what the song actually sounds like.
I love the Black Crowes. Possibly my all time favorite band, but I don’t like this article. I do like this song. But not the article. . I think it went against the roots rocks vibe that the Crowes are all about. Looked like it was directed by someone who used to shoot those hair metal bands of the late 80s. Also the audio is poor quality. This article came out when the band was really putting out some great music. Amorica is an outstanding album, top to bottom. I think Black Crowes never got the push they deserved from the industry. Chris just wanted to jam and he didn’t play nice with the big wigs.
