Spell Queller is a creature spell that disrupts opponents by exiling spells. Once a spell resolves, it either enters the battlefield as a permanent or goes to the graveyard. Spell Queller can be cast as a regular creature without exiling any spells, and when Goblin Dark-Dwellers enters, players can cast target instant or sorcery cards with mana value 3 or less from their graveyard without paying its mana cost.
The card advantage of Spell Queller is its ability to disrupt opponent’s play, effectively putting the player ahead. By exiling a spell mid-resolution, Spell Queller can exile your opponent’s Hangarback Walker if X was 0, 1, or 2, but not if it’s 3 or more. Players cannot cast spells from graveyards or activate abilities of cards in graveyards.
When Goblin Dark-Dwellers enters, players may cast target instant or sorcery card with mana value 3 or less from their graveyard without paying its mana cost. Spell Queller can also exile Rending Volley just fine. It gives players a 1-off allowance to cast the spell during the resolution of queller’s triggered ability, which supersedes its ability to counter the spell.
Spells that can’t be countered can be exiled by Spell Queller’s ability, but they won’t resolve. If the exiled card’s owner casts it, the spell has no effect. Spell Queller is a unique fixture in the realm of creature spells in MTG, standing out with its ability to disrupt opponents by exiling spells.
