It can be created by enchanting an onyx amulet using Lvl-6 Enchant, requiring a Magic level of 87. While it is considered versatile, several other amulets surpass it in certain areas. What does the monkey talisman do?
The Monkey Talisman is a magical tool that allows users to shape and transform objects or people into existing animals. It can also revert someone or something transformed into their original form. The user can choose the animal they want to transform by verbally exclaiming the name or saying the animal in their mind. The talisman fires a beam when used to transform others.
When used on an inanimate object, it transforms it into a living animal, as seen in the case of Jade’s log transformation into a manta ray. The talisman can also transform someone into an animal of the opposite sex, as seen in the case of Jackie’s pouch transformation into a kangaroo and Jade’s mane transformation into a lion. Some individuals transformed by the Monkey Talisman exhibit features that identify them when changed, such as Jade’s hairstyle features when turned into an animal.
What makes an amulet an amulet?
Amulets, sacred objects of mainstream religion, are believed to have no power of their own without faith in Jesus and being blessed by a clergyman. They are often part of folk religion or paganism, while talismans and amulets have interchangeable meanings. Amulets are objects with the power to avert evil influences or ill luck, typically made from durable materials like metal or hard-stone. They can also be applied to paper examples.
The use of amulets was widespread among ancient Egyptians, used for protection and reaffirming the fundamental fairness of the universe. The oldest amulets found date back to the predynastic Badarian Period and persisted until Roman times. Pregnant women would wear amulets depicting Taweret, the goddess of childbirth, to protect against miscarriage. The god Bes, with the head of a lion and the body of a dwarf, was believed to be the protector of children. After giving birth, a mother would remove her Taweret amulet and put on a new one representing Bes.

Is it possible to make a monkey talk?
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, anthropologist Robert Lieberman and his colleagues conducted groundbreaking experiments with rhesus macaques to understand why monkeys couldn’t talk. They concluded that macaques lacked a sufficient supralaryngeal vocal tract, the space in humans that begins in the mouth and follows the hump of the tongue into the throat. This explanation caught on, appearing in textbooks and even a science comic book. However, this idea was not widespread among experts in the evolution of speech.
Recently, the question “Why can’t monkeys talk?” has turned into a serious and heated debate among former collaborators. In December, Fitch and colleagues published a paper in Science Advances that announced its counterpunch in the title “Monkey vocal tracts are speech-ready”. Lieberman’s earlier study of rhesus macaques, published in 1969, involved making a plaster cast of a monkey throat from a live but sedated monkey, manipulating its tongue, and documenting the positions it could make. They estimated the range of monkey speech sounds, which was much smaller than a human’s, and indicated that a macaque could not produce vowels, such as the long E, common to most languages.

NOTE: If you got teleported while talking to Waydar……… 1. Go back to the Bar on first floor of the gnome village (where the king is at) 2. Talk to Daera again and he will ask if you want to go down again, he’ll blind fold u again take u back 3. Talk to waydar again and he will go to island then make sure you right click waydar this time xD Happened to me, was annoyed af about how to get back lol.
omg i panicked when i was going through part 33:50 and i clicked the x to close the menu and it stopped and didnt do anything for a few mins. i clicked on zoonock and asked for “what do i need for talisman” and then it did the animation of him making it. literally thought i had to get new bones and talisman omg! P.S Fire spells were shit as well.
I know people may not read comments before the quest, but if you bank everything before you go to the tunnel for the first time, don’t forget to take your monkey dentures and your m’amulet mould with you. I got to the end of the tunnel before realising I didn’t take it because I banked everything and SM1 didn’t include it on the toolcard. It will avoid a lot of annoyance and frustration lol
I tried without 43 prayer and i died at the trap door right before you put them in the fire, I lost almost everything lol. I sold literally everything I had left, 2350 big bones later, I went back and conquered it. Except running out of prayer once during the fight and dying. Had to run all the way back through the dungeon lmao. Thanks a ton!
Liked thanks, easy, I noticed I didn’t see a mistake for a long while. This works EXACTLY the way you said. focus like he says in the article on 7:12. but notice that First square in Green Row. and Lower Left in Blue Row, they are easy to see the difference on in the article, but once u do it, if it doesen’t work for you, you might have moved the wrong piece to those 2 locations mentioned, switch their place. both is literally a perfect fit.
A tip, if you die in the boss fight you’ll lose the sigil. If this happens walk through the maze again and talk to Waymottin who will give you another one. Once he gives it to you, drop it temporarily to talk to him again to receive further duplicates to put in your bank. This way you can try the boss fight as many times as you like.
Recent update placed a new fairy ring in Ape Atoll (CLR). Ironman players, I would suggest getting another Monkey Talismans from the Monkey Child and killing a Ninja Monkey for their bones as you need this to exit the agility course. Getting all 4 Greegrees for RFD is ideal because that cave as a low level ironman is very annoying.
I messed up twice so I had to go back through the dungeon an extra two times. First time I accidentally brought a ‘perfect’ gold bar leftover from a quest, so I had to go back and get a normal one. Second time I forgot monkey bones so I killed a zombie in the tunnel and used those. Apparently the zoo keeper doesn’t like zombie monkeys. I need to pay more attention
Your guides are amazing, but it would be a tremendous help if you read out the answers that you’re choosing in conversations, instead of saying “option 3”, “option 2” etc… Sometimes there’s a lot of dialogue, and if I’m off one step from you, then my entire selection is wrong. If you read off what you’re choosing, then I can be sure that I”m in the correct spot.
Quick tip: Don’t be an idiot like me because I died the same time as I killed Jungle Demon and gratefully didn’t lose much other than 1000 bone arrows. I didn’t aggro the gnomes correctly and overestimated the damage and juiced all my prayer. Just let the gnomes hit down to 0 if you have to or low enough for you to kill. When the demon heals if you don’t kill on the last hit, it’ll only be like 27 hp or so anyway so no big deal.
I had jorge bones drop from that first monkey and didn’t notice till I had to make the greegree. I thought killing a zombie monkey would work just fine, but for some unknown reason thats gave me a zombie monkey greegree which the zookeeper is not a fan of at all. Sooooo DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A MONKEY BONE!
if u go to make gree gree make sure to bring 4 toys. ninja karamja gorilla and zombie bones. for gorilla i just used dds with daxe and super atk/str this way u get the gree gree for both awogei and for ardy diary. edit i went into with this quest thinking it was tough. nah it was just tedious. and with iban staff i melted the boss before a single potion was needed….
If you can best monkey madness, i consider you above 60% of rs players. Most people just do afk skilling yet never do many quests. But for the ones who grind the game as intended and like a challenge, this is the main benchmark for completing something and being proud of it. For beginners its dragon slayer For people commited to the cause its monkey madness/legends quest And for experts its dragon slayer 2/ monkey madness 2 Thats sort of how i categorised it breifly for people who are trying to quest. They are the benchmarks ive set for myself for where i consider myself in runescapes ranks for quests.
NO WIND for Jungle Demon?! Oh my god I’ve been wondering why the hell I can’t win!! THANK YOU. If I win now, I will be so damn appreciative. Edit: Along with going into the SOUTH/SOUTH WEST for the gnomes (I was just standing in the middle), and not using wind, I was FINALLY able to win. I’m forever grateful. I mean that.
hey guys at the part with the monkey child and aunt i got caught, ran back into the corridor where two high combat monkeys spawned i safe spotted between corridor and the room so they couldnt attack me and after a while they disappeared, so i didnt went to jail that time good luck to all and thanks slayermusiq1
Thanks for the guide, this quest was so fun to do alongside you! Felt like a kid again, ended up doing this quest with 3 other players & laughed my ass off the entire time. Kept perusal the one guy get absolutely dummied by the gorillas every time we tried to escape the prison… I logged out, took a break and came back an hour later and the same guy was STILL THERE struggling 😂😂😂 fun times. Brought me back to 12 years old RuneScape days.
When I find zook and try to use the dentures on him it says ” nothing interesting happens” yet in the quest guide it’s crossed out when I ask him how the tunneling is going can somebody please comment on this and tell me why I’m stuck at zook but I have 1 gold bar 1 amulet mold 1 monkey dentures but nothing is happening so frustrating
i need some help!!! i talked to zooknock but he did not give me the two options regarding the amulets. After the conversation was over, i tried to give the ingredients for the enchanted bar in all the combinations possible but all the time it tells me that ‘nothing intresting happens’. what i am doing wrong? and what should i do in order to get those enchanted bars? i’m desperate :))
Wow cool I fucking die after standing at the box avoiding a spider for 15 mins regenerating my HP just to misclick because for whatever reason while youtube is on the background it makes my clicks inaccurate. I only brought a couple food because I didn’t see him getting smacked with 15s thru pray but OK. Guess I’ll just get smacked by the fucking ape 15 more times before I escape again. Seriously, fuck this quest.
i dont know if im the only one but i died like way tooo much (on step @ 10:00 going to where the fuck ever) monkey madness pissed me off so much. this quest shouldnt be this hard. im a range account only doing this for quest points to get dragon slayer 2 done fuck the dragon scim its worth it for thoes who like mele.
Love the guides man God they make life easy, just wondering if you might be able to add some suggestions for high level characters for some of these quest to help them skip or shorten quest length i.e. a lot of the time I follow these guides you tend to take a lot more food and agility pots than I would perhaps a suggestion to bring certain items if possible to skip having to bank at certain times would be handy? Anyway food for thought love the vids, you’ve saved me countless hours of fucking about inefficiently thanks heaps bud
i got till the 1st part with zooknock and i finsihed the dialogue but when i try to give him items it says ” nothing interesting happens ” and when i speak to him it just asks ” How goes the tunneling work? ” and answer ” Slow, as ever. Can’t you tell? ” and idk what to do. i dont have an enchanted bar.
Almost died on my HCIM cuz I thought that trap while running in Ape Atoll Dungeon was a clickade obstacle that I needed to click to pass. Turns out its just a pressure plate that does like 9dmg every 0.2seconds as long as ur standing ontop of it. I lost like 50dmg in one second before realizing I was still on the plate.
Thanks for the warning about accidentally making a ninja gree gree 🙂 I have no idea how that happened but it just did lmao now I have to restart getting the other things I suppose The monkey minder won’t let me in. “I don’t know what kind of monkey you think you are but you aren’t going anywhere near my monkeys!”
you can thank me later. For speed runners like me that dont like to waste 2 minutes waiting to know when he is going to teleport next.. click on playback speed and change it to 1,50 if u change it to 1,25 he speaks like a normal person should and for the real sweats 1,75 have fun ques….. nvm just gl
Maybe include that if you do actually talk to the gnomes after defeating the lvl 195 you will actually be murdered and lose everything including the sigil to get back to your items. I talked to the first gnome who told me to talk to zooknock or whatever about getting out of the area, assuming I’d be teleported by them to the king or something and when I did I ended up in lumbridge with absolutely nothing at all. Due to the new death mechanic I had 15 minutes to figure out how the hell I get back to getting the sigil.l to retrieve my items. I assume you can go back to ape atoll but I gave up and went to death. If you wore something cheap there you’ll get items back free if not you’re paying 20% of whatever’s worth more than 100k… GL
So im in the hangar, Daero hasnt introduced me to Waydar, if i talk to him he says hes not authorized to talk to me. When i click on the panel to start the puzzle it says “you do not know what you are doing”. I teleported out and went to talk to daero again in case i messed up a dialogue sequence, he only has 1 option to teleport back to the hangar. Am i stuck?!?
i handed over my talisman after doing all of that and was puzzled for like 4 whole minutes why it wasnt isnt in my inventory i talkedto zoonock and his buddy trying to see what the fuck was going on and then bam after 6 whole minutes it finally went to cutscene at end of chapter 2, i dont think you understand how bad i was shitting my pants
