An Independent Party Mascot Is What?

The American Independent Party (AIP) is a far-right political party in the United States, established in 1967. It is best known for its nomination of Democratic then-Governor George Wallace of Alabama, who carried five states in the 1968 presidential election running on a populist, hard-line anti-government platform. The party’s political platform emphasizes the use of colors and symbols to identify and distinguish themselves. In the 1870s, influential cartoonist Thomas Nast popularized the donkey as a symbol for the entire Democratic Party.

The two major political parties that govern the United States are often represented by two different animals: a donkey for the Democratic Party and an elephant for the Republican Party. The AIP dates back more than a half-century and was founded to help the 1968 presidential campaign of Gov. George Wallace of Alabama. Internal divisions arose between members who saw electoral politics as ultimately corrupting and supported the notion of an “anti-party party” formed by Petra Kelly and other Green Party leaders in Germany.

The AIP is a qualified political party in California, with party chair Victor Marani as of April 2024. The party’s logos’ graphic designs aim to promote respect for life liberty and the ideals, hopes, aspirations, and proposals for action of the party and its candidates for the Presidency and Vice Presidency. The Independent American Party (IAP) is a political party in the United States that aims to promote respect for life liberty.

  • Honestly kudos to ABC for being one of the only mainstream networks to give Yang a platform without condescending him or getting his name wrong or picture wrong or all of the above. One point i will take issue with however is that the Forward Party is not necessarily “in between” the Democratic and Republican party, or “moderate” as it was framed. Its essentially just as the name describes: not left, not right, forward. Whatever is the best solution that will benefit the most people, is quite progressive of an idea. Not the same thing as being “moderate.” I guarantee a TON of lefties AND a ton of trumpies (who are always viewed as the “radicals” will love this idea and this party, because both of those groups cannot stand corruption and are sick of the elites. I’m very excited to see what comes of this.

  • Love this. Everyone knows the system is broken when we see extremists get elected to office across the country, the January 6th attack, and when almost nothing gets done in Congress because of polarization. We need these reforms (open primaries and ranked choice voting) so that politicians don’t feel the need to cater to the extremes and so that we can lower the temperature in our country. Good luck Forward Party and good luck Andrew Yang.

  • I dont know how anyone could defend the duopoly (I.e. two party system) we have. The founding fathers didn’t envision it for our country and they would frankly be rolling in their graves at the sight of it. But we can’t place the lid back on the can so we need more parties for the diverse views and growing population of America. Open primaries and ranked choice voting will remove the spoiler effect of third parties which will give us more choices in our country than the two we are stuck with every election.

  • I may not agree with all of Yang’s policy issues; but I respect and am impressed with him being practical and realistic. No matter who wins in 2024… it will be polarizing to the point of civil unrest. That should concern ALL OF US. We have got to learn to co-exist respectfully! Democracy isn’t guaranteed. Cherish it and work at it… even with those whom you disagree.

  • The problem with Democrats and Republicans is that it’s just a football game where teams root for their favorite team and resort to brawls and stalemates. Americans want pragmatism and solutions to problems we all face. I think Yang has his heart in the right place, but it’s going to be an uphill battle against the Democrat-Republican hegemon.

  • Who will Andrew caucus with? That is strong indicator of degree of true ‘independence’ of his party. Otherwise it’s just branding of the wing of the party he supposedly left. Similar has been done before Ross Perot, and Bernie to name a couple off hand. Labels are just word games. That aside, he does come across as having a desire to find creative solutions that don’t fit into the current molds. This mentality is needed; it is not the same world as our parents/grandparents enjoyed.

  • It’s tough because people want what’s easy so they don’t have to think IE Red or Blue, but the reality is that all of us are fluid in thought, even the most kooky of extreme political thinkers will eventually have a thought that floats away from the norm. When you make it red versus blue it divides in the same way sports does and makes us become so contentious with each other. We should always be voting for the best person, not the party, who takes care of both sides of arguments and situations for the sake of balance, Yang is on to something here.

  • Great for his Yang’s exposure, but the GMA staff need to find themselves a cure for the giggles when talking about existential threats. Gave me those Don’t Look Up vibes. Also, I wanted to shake them by the ears for failing to mention that Democrats and Republicans were both once third parties themselves.

  • It can’t be either chopping off kids’ sexual organs to “Transform” their sex or to take them closer to the “ALMIGHTY GOD”! The world needs more rationality/mindfulness and rational/mindful leaders else humanity wouldn’t last a century with the absolute insanity that’s been going on right now with both parties! I’m not an American but never have I ever wanted to vote for someone so bad!

  • Yang seems to want to start his own party because he’s not getting any traction any other way. There have been many rich corporate executives that seek power after they have made their money. He had no problem with the current system of politics as long as he could exploit it to get rich. Now he wants power. He does not have a political record because he has never held elected office. Until you’re forced to cast your vote for an issue, everything else is just talk. These corporate types always want to start out being in charge. Working their way up in an existing party requires more work and commitment plus everyone is not patting them on the back telling them how great they are. There is a certain amount of ego involved. When are they going to articulate specific policies. If they accept corporate donations don’t expect anything to change.

  • Americans arent ready for UBI. We need better education first. Giving a bunch of ignorant people 1000 a month will only create more laziness. Look what happened to extending unemployment… people sat home and collected and did nothing. Fix education first, bring back the middle class, then consider UBI once Americans are more mentally equipped for it. UBI in America to ignorant people will only create a welfare state.

  • It’s about time we get an Independent president or some sort of Independent elected official for a change. Tired of all this Democratic this and Republican that. We desperately need a significantly more nuanced and rejuvenating perspective, that’s especially relevant to these complicated times we are living in right now.

  • I look at these three interviewers and along with so many Americans, they agree with the way Yang is laying out the problems, yet are too scared to leave their current party affiliation. I’m asking you to ask yourself do you really think that one party or the other is going to solve our issues? Do you really think the opposite party will allow it? In the current atmosphere, bi-partisanship is not working, it hasn’t worked for a very long time, we can all see it. Even with the Democrats currently, in control of all three branches, you can already tell as much of what needs to get accomplished a lot of it won’t get done, and what gets done will only be a fraction of what needs to happen. Even if the other party agrees they won’t allow it, for it will mean their side caved or lost, now how ridiculous it that. Time is not on our side at this pivotal point in history. Climate change and the marriage of A.I. and Automation to name a few is not going to wait on Democrats and Republican politicians to realize that they need to come together and agree to work together to solve these society-destroying issues. I hope you are open-minded enough to realize this never going to happen. A third party is the only way out, the majority needs to take back our country. I asking you all to listen to this man carefully without any preconceived notions or the fact he’s Asian and doesn’t look like your typical White 60+ yr old male politician. Listen with an open mind he has the solution.

  • Andrew Yang when when he first came out running for president I had a lot of mad respect for this man when he ran for office in New York he lost every bit of credibility Daddy’s so-called built up in his presidential run he totally sold out took all his values out end of the day he’s a billionaire you got s*** tons of money why do they want to be in this game they want to be in this game to control their narrative you don’t be a billionaire and and go and get a freaking $250,000 a year job have y’all figured that out yet why would a billionaire somebody is a billionaire what would they want a job that only pays $250,000 a year I’m still waiting for your response

  • Independent On Politics & Non Denominational On Religion Is The Way To. Go. Enough Is Enough. We Are Sick & Tired Of Being Pitted Against Each Other, We Are Sick & Tired Of The Dysfunction & Division, We Are Sick & Tired Of Democrats & Republicans Against Each Other & Trump Supporters Against Everybody Else In Politics, & We Are Sick & Tired Of Baptist & Pentecostals Against Each Other In Religion.!

  • Why do people feel like they HAVE to choose one or the other? (Red or Blue) That is apart of what got us divided in 1st place. Nothing but Democrips&Rebloodicans. If real bloods&crips can make a truce/peace treaty. Why cant reps&dems?😅 How sad. Why don’t we all choose neither and just vote green😂or at least independent.

  • Le sigh. Like what are East Asians. Like as an East Asian what do they want people to develop. Please don’t overdo it on anti Asian hate. It really says sth when Yang is basically the free money guy (it’s a little more layered than advertised) and he couldn’t get people to be pulled in. Like as much like money helps but like people really want to believe in whatever they think is going on. And like dude what is up with homogeneous and authoritarianism in east Asia. Like write what is that and like do you do anything about it. Let me know.

  • Would love to see 3rf party!!!!! BUT do you think the two maffias at the top will allow any type of traction for a 3rd party? Remember this, Republicans and democrats are like coke and Pepsi…they hate eachother…but have an under the table agreement that they are 1 or 2 all the time. So sad in my country that we only have 2 choices to pick from when electing the leader of the free world, but when you walk into a coffee shop you have 10,000 combinations of how to drink a cup of coffee.
