  • I have Mars and Saturn conjunct in Taurus in my 12th house, and Taurus is the 12th house in my chart. I just started to work on learning about what this means two days ago, and it has been a painful eye-opener. I am beginning to understand what my father leaving when I was 8 actually means for me in so many ways that I never considered before. I see links to extreme shame and fear about my socioeconomic status, my spending habits and lifelong rotten management of money, why I have chosen the men who I have in the past, and a little bit about what Saturn wants me to do in order to change it all. To top it off, Mars was retrograde when I was born, my sun is in Pisces (and I also have a huge Pisces stellium), and my moon is in Cancer in my second house. I hope that what I have heard from astrolgers about success in the second half of my life (I’m 50) is true, because I’m exhausted. Thank you for your work; I really admire you and feel drawn to your energy. This article helps, and I plan to watch all of your others.

  • I have my Mars in Libra in the 12th, conjunct Saturn in the 12th and my ASC, both are in Libra. Its confusing because whenever i put an effort and discipline (Mars and Saturn) into something that i really wanted including financial gains, the results seems to be fleeting (12th house-loss) BUT everytime i surrender to the higher unseen hidden realm (12th house-hidden from you) i suddenly and almost always gain something whether its financial or not. This year during this pandemic for example me and my family experienced sudden financial gain after years of financial loss. Gaining money during the pandemic (12th house-hospitals and isolation). Its unsettling sometimes to watch the power of the 12th house affect my life. Since Mars co ruled my second house (Scorpio) the relevance of 12th house is very important for me.

  • I have Mars conj NN in 12th house Virgo sq Sun in Gemini and Mars ruling my 7th house with Saturn in Aries placed there. Suppressed anger has been a problem for me and that resulted in a huge blow-up that happened a couple of years ago which I’ve been working to heal. I got married young and divorced just as quick lol but it was a huge lesson for me. Learning compromise and diplomacy within intimate relationships has been something that I’ve been working hard at but sometimes I feel like I’m better off alone. Although I like the idea of a relationship and connecting with people (Gemini Sun/Leo moon/Libra rising), I find that I’m happier alone. When I’m alone I feel peace in knowing that no one can disrupt or ruin me. On a positive note, I get a lot done in solitude, often times completing things in the background before revealing it to others and meditation/introspection has helped me recognize my distorted ways of thinking to heal them (Maybe that’s also mercury 12th house ruler). I also realized (thanks to quarantine) that I love to exercise and I can website that Mars energy more productively. It gives me great relief.

  • I appreciate your take on placements. I’ve had both self-inflicted and third party inflicted misfortunes related to my 12th house Moon (ruler of the 3rd). Day-to-day dislocations are extra draining to me, early in life I had an unfortunate encounter with an abuser which made me develop some PTSD related to leaving the house. Then when I hit the young adult phase I engaged in very dangerous types of dislocations, taking rides with friends who drove while intoxicated, passing out in public transportation and so on. Age has definitely helped me, taking responsibility for my own safety and well being was a process and while there may still be out-of-control misfortunes that come my way at least I can say my self-undoing habits are mostly gone.

  • I have my Sun, Mercury, and Pluto in the 12th in Scorpio with Pluto tightly conjunct my Mercury. The Sun rules my 9th while Mercury rules my 7th and 10th Houses. One of my favorite stories recently is about my conversion from Placidus/Modern to Whole Sign/Traditional. I loved Astrology since I was teenager however the information and systems I used didn’t quite seemed right. My thorough misunderstanding of Astrology led me to believe I could simply gamble with my way to a rich life…I believed I had Jupiter in the 5th vs it being in the 7th. It wasn’t until I was 30 that I found you guys, Chris and Austin as well as a kind of spiritual awakening that I started rebuilding what I knew and believed in from the ground up. That’s just from having the ruler of my 9th in 12th. Fun fact the ruler of my 12th Mars is in my 5th House so it honestly that hit made me laugh my ass off. As for my Mercury there, well my career and dating life have a kind of crazy history. Every relationship I’ve been in, I’ve been cheated on. However it wasn’t until I learned the true nature of my chart I learned why. Often enough my partners tried to communicate in one way or another they were ready to leave and I either ignored it or believed I could change their mind to get them to hold on. Being a Rising Sag with Jupiter in 7th kinda compounded my relationship issues. Also took me to my around Saturn Return to learn how to listen and let go. As for my career, I’ve struggled to find what it is I wanted to be.

  • Hello and thank you for your info you shared, I have three planets in the 12th house Mercury, Jupiter, and Mars and I am 58 and thank god for my husband because I am also self employed and some how have had good luck on my side . I always worry about money and what would I do if my husband wasn’t here. I like being independent and I do not like asking anyone for money but fortunately for myself my husband pays most of our bills and my money is for spending and that gives me less stress.

  • Absolutely Fantastic. Sun and Mars in the twelfth, in my mid-30s, transitioning from a lucrative career (yet i also seemed to spend it all as well lol) towards being self-employed in a less secure field that I’m very passionate about. This thorough, clear, grounded explanation (of the least clear and least grounded of the houses) totally corroborated my impulse to dig deep into dedication and discipline – Saturn-style – in order to best support these new professional (and financial) endeavors of mine. Thank you so much for sharing your gift of insight with us.

  • this story really resonates with me! I turned 40 and I’ve only now come to a point where I can understand and manage money better, where as before I didn’t really think about it and it all just slept through my fingers. I have Jupiter conjunct Saturn at the same degree in my second house. Would you say this explains my story? Thank you for sharing yours 🙂

  • I fully understand this explanation, thank you! I’ve got Mercury, the Sun and Uranus in my 12th house, Mercury is the ruler of my second house, and everything is becoming clear now. I love to listen to people, I know when to be quiet, I love quietness and privacy, some people see me as being secretive. I am conservative with money and never go on spending sprees without an goal. As the sun is also the ruler of my first house I do like to take breaks from my lonesomeness to being highly social.

  • Leo Moon in 12th, ruling my 11th, which, in turn, houses retrograde Saturn. Can’t say I “learned to master friends and group with the time”, but an astrologer once told me that “emotional losses through love are inevitable” (12 house Moon also opposing both Venus and Mercury). That happened to be true.

  • Loved that article Kelly, also loved learning more about you through this example. I also have Mars (chart ruler) in the 12th, but I truly feel like what makes this placement difficult, is the fact that Mars is squaring my Moon (IC ruler). I also have Venus in the 12 but exalted in Pisces, I feel that energy very deeply, Venus is the ruler of my 2nd and I can relate to your story very much, I love to spend money especially on beautiful objects, and things that make me feel beautiful or luxurious (Taurus 2nd house hello haha).

  • Most people with a Mars in the 12 house have to go into business for themselves. Another thing is that they have to be careful with steel implements such as knifes because they can get in trouble with steel and cutting tools… But at the same time they can make money using metal tools as Aries rules the second house. I am an Artists and so I work alone in a studio using Paint and steel painting knives… I also work as a cook for many years using Knives… Depending on where your Saturn is located, it will indicate the type of environment or medium with which you work in.

  • I’m also a Pisces rising with Mars ruling my second house, but I have mine in Leo in the 6th house and despite the ruler being in a different house I still really related to this article, and the percentage-based model just blew my mind. I never thought of it that way so thank you! I’m 25 and Saturn is about to go over my sun in the 12th house soon and I really want to use this opportunity to become more responsible. And also the comment you made about starting small and then going from there, I really appreciate that comment too because I’ve been trying to better myself but I realized that in order to build big habits, you have to start small. So thank you for reminding me!

  • I have mars on sag in the the 12th. Aries rules 4 th and Scorpio the 11th house. Since I recall I have had confrontations with my dad that ended in physical and passive agressive violence from him to me. At the age of 18 moved to Paris to study, during 8 years studied and worked in Paris and Athens every other month. Had what was for me the perfect life. I got into the yoga world and felt in love of a “father figure” and moved to the state and I lost all of my perfect life in Europe and I knew I was not gonna be able to go back. Things didn’t work out there, and I was forced to move back to Chile. Now I’m working my way to move to Mexico City since last year an actors agent signed me. Moved there on sept last year and I had to moved back again because of the pandemic, but as I said I’m working my was back there. I really thank you for your testimony, it made a lot of sense and I could understand hoy that Mars and Neptune in sag on the 12th made me make things harder for myself. Thanks 😊

  • Thanks for sharing your 12th house experience Kelly. I have Mars in Scorpio conjunct the Sun in the 12th house with the ruler of the 5th (Mars) and the ruler of the 9th (Sun) in the 12th. I can tell you that early in life, romance and having FUN caused many issues, unwanted pregnancy and miscarriage among just a few. However, astrology and my search for purpose in life also came early in life and helped me to awaken and somewhat counterbalance. Like you, after my Saturn return, I got a handle on it, although I still didn’t totally calm down until my forties. On a side note, my father (Sun) was a gambler, the life of the party, and very irresponsible causing our family much pain during our early years.

  • Hi Kelly. Thanks a trillion for your story. I’m having Mars in the 12th house. I’m an aries rising Aquarius, moon is in virgo. You’ve just told how I’d been in my life with money. I’m in my thirty’s moving towards the mid thirty’s. Exactly like you I’m progressing. It was really motivated for me. May God bless you.

  • I know this reply is really alate one.but interesting.i have a stellium in my 12th house that includes my north node, saturn, mercury, Mars, jupiter.i have had so many really big tragedies in my life some people would never believe.i am in my 2nd Saturn return now.i am a Pisces, Pisces rising and moon in scorpio.pluto in virgo.uranus and South node in ieo with Venus conjoined my sun.hows that!I’ve never had a reading but self taught in a lot.I always am looking at my family’s charts, also needing more and more thirst interning about charts.

  • cap sun 2th house, Scorpio mars 12th house, I have a lot of things all paid for had a Piper Arrow for 15 years paid cash for it sold it several years ago Must say I am frugal quite good a saving and investing from 16 to21 spent a lot of money cars and vans to get my pick of girls as we all know Scorpio mars is known for sex and war Woodstock generation here. Thank You

  • I have sun, mercury and mars in my 12th house. The sun is the ruler of the 2nd house and mars is the ruler of the 10th house. I was a really great saver throughout my life (when I had the money to save), but in my mid thirties I had a serious accident that put me out of work and study for a couple of years and I lost everything I had saved. Recovery has been difficult and I haven’t had much support as I’m single and interstate from my family. Its all very 12th house stuff.

  • Just seen this article and I have a question. How does mars rule the 2nd house? Isn’t the 2nd house ruled by Taurus and Venus? Genuinely asking because when she said her 2nd house ruling planet was in her 12th she mentioned mars but mars doesn’t rule the 2nd. Unless this is a whole house system in which I haven’t learned yet.

  • My older daughter as well has ruler 2 in 12, but its jupiter and its morroring mars in the second house, which is ruler of ac and 6th house. so this is a resemblance of a quality of venus mars mercury somehow through jupiter and mars. Because I have ruler 6 in 12 squaring ruler 2, which is burned mercury and sun as ruler 1. So I as well have venus ( mercury is persobal venus = ruler 2) mars ( sun is personal mars = ruler 1 ) mercury ( in square with saturn as ruler 6 in 12 ) energy as well as she has. my younger daughter has ruler 2 in 9, which is her sun, conjunct neptune, so as well a “venus neptune thing” like ruler 2 in 12. Both have mars in two and like collecting things as well as I do with moon in taurus and ruler 2 in 4 ( burned by instinct ). She has pluto in 6, ruler 6 is jupiter as well in 9, conjunct venus ruling 11 as second ruler and 5 as first ruler. Her ruler 3 is as well sun in 9, So again a mercury neptun thing like I have. So somehow we are all related and I like to point that out. Wonder how this will continue through the ages ? If so. I have not always decided on my own money on my own, but was directed by my mom somehow ( ruler 2 in 4 ) and affected by instinct.

  • Thank You Kelly, can relate, 2:nd house ruler (Mars/Pluto) in 12th…and Neptune in 2:nd….always had this magical quality when it comes to money. Have not worked it out fully yet -so good job You, – but have been lucky enough to never lack anything- so far-, (Jupiter, PoF in 8th, ruled by Venus) Just some bumps in the road.. Since 2008: PLUTO conj. Moon, S.N opposite Sun, N.N, Mercury… but I have landed on my feet, so much wiser in several areas… Grateful for the awakening, still wondering what Pluto holds, more than white hair- soon squaring my ASC Libra 27° But money is still random… because of my work (artistic field). I´ve noticed thru life (56yrs) that where I focus -I gain. 🙂

  • I have Pluto, Jupiter, Uranus and my south node all retrograde and in the 12th house in Virgo using tropical I’ve been studying astrology for a little while and most recently found Vedic and now my head spins some more. I really love this topic. When I use the time lord technique it seems more accurate with Vedic Do you think I should just focus there?

  • Sun conjunct mars 12th here in libra its wired to me because when it comes to the rising sign people say that Scorpio rising has 12th house libra but im libra 12th house sun with libra in 12th house conjunction mars but my pluto is in 1st house Scorpio along with that 12th house libra 🤷 so it still just works out.. But i dont use whole signs i use the p word one 😆 or equal house system.. Anyone also a life path 7 with 12th house sun?

  • Pluto in Virgo in whole sign, 12th, first transit of Saturn through Virgo, Grandfather died and a few young men who were close friends, as in their parents and mine socialized a lot so we were friends also died, one in a motorcycle accident one from bone cancer, The second run of Saturn through Virgo – My Father, an Uncle who was very dear to me, an aunt, & a young woman who was a good friend all died within 5 months of each other. Natal Saturn is 10 Aqu.

  • The money piece you shared was so helpful for me! Second house is in Cappy with Mercury and the Sun, and Saturn is in Pisces in the 4th. I have no idea why I’ve never had a focus on $. I’m not a hard worker and I haven’t been motivated by $. I would think with the above placement I’d be a money maker? I have no savings, etc. I always make just enough and don’t worry about it. I’m 54 and no retirement fund. I’ve always been self employed, so like you, I don’t have a regular income so the idea of budgeting never made sense. I always just trusted the flow of it. Anyway, I love your idea of putting a % away on Thursdays! I just made my first transaction. Thank you! 💜🙏💥
