I remember as a teenager with a Christian upbringing how the concept of the “Portal of Glory” blew my mind, the concept of being able to request angels to support your campaign was incredible. I don’t think I ever enjoyed playing the other factions half as much. This rendition of the artwork makes it even more awe-inspiring than I remember it.
Today I saw the trailer for the new HOMM and the disappointment couldn’t have been bigger… What you’ve done here is exactly what the new HOMM should look like and not the cartoony towns they’ve made, that make you want to carve your eyes out with a tea spoon. Great job here! I’d love to see some other towns as well!
When I was a young person playing Heroes of Might & Magic I dreamed of walking around the castles and seeing the people and creatures going about their business. I was saddened by the slow decline of ‘life’ in the castles across the series as HoMM1 had all the creatures outside their dwellings animating away adding so much life and personality to the factions but by the time we got to HoMM4 castles were just lifeless buildings with nothing more than flags moving & lights flickering. HoMM5 brought back some life to them with 3D animation but still no creatures and HoMM6&7 were just paintings with cheap animation. Just imagine if a future HoMM game had a castle screen like this! Probably never happen though as that would require Ubisoft to actually give a damn and spend some money lol.
This is a dream come true. I have played this game more hours than I can remember and know every tiny detail. The only thing missing in this picture is the Ship down at the docks. Apart from that this masterpiece is better than perfect. I salute you and your ability. Are you planning the same for the other 8 Factions ? I certainly hope so. What would also be incredible to see is the Great Castle and City of the Gryffin Empire, and the Conflux of the Mages or the Great Tree of the Sylvan Elves of Heroes oMM5. Hey, I just wanted to tell you that i think that you did an awesome job, you made me relive a part of my childhood through just one article, i remember sitting next to my grandmother as she was playing with the Archangels and she would tell me how good they were,and she would tell me that she liked an Archer from the wood faction ( forgot his name but started with A i think). But, being a perfectionist, I think you can improve the likeness even more. 0:15 – if you hadn’t shown the overlay, we probably wouldn’t have even noticed it but.. you can see the colors being stronger / more vibrant in the old version, and overall more contrast / sharpness. The colors in the new version seem a bit “washed up” by comparison.
