Walt Disney World has announced that it will discontinue the “Extra Magic Hours” benefit, which was a daily extra hour for guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts and Villas. The new “Early Theme Park Entry” is set to debut on October 1, 2021, and replaces the previous “Extra Magic Hours” offering.
In 2020, Disney World retired the Extra Magic Hours and replaced them with two new perks: Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours. Early Theme Park Entry allows guests to enter the parks 30 minutes prior to opening, and the current extended hours are only available until April 5, 2024.
Guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts and Villas at Walt Disney World can enjoy extended evening hours on select nights in select theme parks. This year, Extended Evening Hours will move from Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Wednesdays starting September 25, 2024. Evening Extra Magic Hours are offered at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but not at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
As of May 28, 2020, Disney has announced the suspension of Extra Magic Hours in its parks for the time being. Extended Evening Hours are available on specific days to those staying at a Deluxe resort, but after hours appear to require tickets and is quite expensive.
In summary, Disney World has made significant changes to its Extended Evening Hours program, including the introduction of Early Theme Park Entry and the transition from Extra Magic Hours to Early Theme Park Entry. These changes may cause ripple effects for crowds and other guests, but they offer a unique way for guests to enjoy their time in the parks.

Can Disney be done in 2 days?
The Walt Disney World Resort offers four unique and must-visit theme parks, each with its own unique attractions and experiences. The Park Hopper option is recommended for those who want to visit all four parks in just two days, but it may be a bit of a marathon. As a mom of three, I prefer to visit one theme park per day, as there is so much to see and do in each park. If you choose to visit just two theme parks, Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT are recommended, as they have lots of baby-friendly attractions.
Each theme park has a Baby Care Center, providing a quiet feeding area and diaper change area. The centers feature a living-room area, changing room, kitchenette, private nursing room, and an onsite shop with essentials like baby food and formula. If you run out of diapers at Magic Kingdom Park, you can buy more at the Baby Care Center. If you have any other questions about the Walt Disney World Resort, we’d love to help you plan a magical visit.
Did Disney get rid of extra magic hours?
In 2020, Disney World retired its Extra Magic Hours and introduced two new perks for guests staying on property: Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours. Early Theme Park Entry allows guests to enter the parks 30 minutes before opening, while Extended Evening Hours allow guests to stay in the parks after they close. These perks are available at Disney World Deluxe Resorts, Deluxe Villa Resorts, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green. These hotels offer extended hours on select nights at select parks, allowing guests to enjoy a variety of rides and attractions with lower wait times.
Is Disney Magic Time worth it?
Early access to Disneyland® Park and Walt Disney Studios® Park allows guests to enjoy popular rides like Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast. Disney Extra Magic Time also provides unique character meet-and-greet opportunities, allowing guests to meet beloved Disney Characters like Mickey and Minnie or catch glimpses of their favorite Disney Princesses. For Disney hotel guests looking to add enchantment to their Disneyland Paris adventure, it’s recommended to take advantage of this special time.
What is the Disney Four Seasons rule?
The 65th Episode Rule, introduced in the 1970s, allowed for a series to be broadcasted for a maximum of 13 weeks, a quarter of a year. This change was accelerated by the rise of dedicated channels like Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon, as well as more ratings-driven decisions and fewer instances of shows finding an audience despite lower ratings. Additionally, shows were often cancelled before the completion of a current season, necessitating a midseason replacement.
New technology like DVRs, Video-on-Demand, and episodes were also introduced, allowing viewers to watch shows on their preferred schedule. Currently, the number of episodes in a season varies, with 18 to 39 being the current range for a full season. Seasons can be split into two segments, with the second segment being referred to as a half season or a “new” season. These factors make it challenging for modern shows to reach the 65-episode mark and can end with fewer episodes as having more than 65 episodes.
Can you ride Guardians of the Galaxy during extended evening hours?
EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a new ride that takes visitors on an interplanetary voyage to Xandar, a planet not visited by any other country. The ride begins at the Guardians of the Galaxy building near EPCOT’s front entrance in World Discovery (formerly Future World East). Guests using the standby queue can enter through doors on the left side of the entrance, while those using Lightning Lane can enter through doors on the right.
The pre-show area at the park resembles a cross between EPCOT’s Test Track pavilion and Animal Kingdom’s Dinosaur, with curved walkways around various display items, including the history of Xandar and the introduction of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast. Joining a Boarding Group is the only way to ride during EETPH.
