Magic City, a prominent strip club in Atlanta, was founded in 1985 and currently owned by Michael “Magic” Barney. Described as a “legendary strip club that should be familiar to anyone who knows anything about rap music”, Magic City has well-documented ties with the trap and hip-hop scene. The club has become a cultural phenomenon, with its name “Magic City” being derived from the discovery that everything needed for steel production after the Civil War was within 30 miles.
A star-studded documentary, “Magic City: An American Fantasy”, has wrapped production, and the club’s name has been temporarily changed due to Latto’s desires. The club is known for its early energy and excitement, with people coming to Atlanta to experience the same energy as Coca-Cola, Dr. King, and Magic City.
In 2016, GQ magazine named Magic City the most important strip club in the country, and Atlanta music mogul Jermaine Dupri discussed the club’s history and its connection to the music industry. The club’s popularity has grown over the past 35 years, with its name possibly originating from its early days when it was being formed.
In addition to its iconic status, Magic City has also been the subject of speculation, with some suggesting it may have been named after an article written by EV Blackman, who was hired by Henry Flagler to write a story about Miami.
