Can A Rogue Dualweld While Casting Spells?

Dual-wielding is a combat mechanic in D and D 5e that allows players to attack with two light weapons, one in their main hand and one in their off-hand. This allows players to cast arcane spells using the Cast a Spell activity and supply material, somatic, and verbal components when casting spells. As a magus, you can draw replacement sigils with the tip of your sword.

In real D and D, it is possible to keep a hand free to cast spells or use items. In BG3, it is not likely, as you can drink. Dual-weapon fighting requires no prerequisites, and players just need two free hands and two light weapons to put in. Rogues can benefit from dual-wielding, as they never gain the Extra Attack feature unless they spend five levels multiclassing to obtain it.

Dual-wielding can be a great boon for rogues, as they never gain the Extra Attack feature unless they spend five levels multiclassing to obtain it. However, mastering Dual Wield can make melee combat more elegant.

Bladesingers are forbidden from dual-wielding while casting, and spells like Booming Blade can be dual-wielding weapons with both hands occupied. However, War Caster also allows for Booming Blade opportunity attacks and cast spells when not a bear.

Sneak attack is a once per turn feature, so players may not use it on both attacks. Dual-wielding offers Rogues a backup plan, granting them a second chance to land a successful attack if the first one misses. Battle Mage will only have one sneak attack per turn.

In conclusion, dual-wielding is a crucial aspect of D and D 5e, offering players the ability to cast powerful spells and use multiple weapons.

  • You can… in a sense, use Crossbow Expert to actually DUAL WIELD and fight with 2 Hand Crossbows… Because they are right with the General Rules of the TWF area… BUT! taken from Crossbow Expert: You ignore the loading quality of crossbows with which you are proficient. Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn’t impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls. When you use the Attack action and attack with a one-handed weapon, you can use a bonus action to attack with a hand crossbow you are holding. <- This one... it doesn't State it needs to be a Melee or Ranged, just a "One-Handed" Weapon. So as a Fighter... this means: I can at level 11, do three attacks with my Main Hand and STILL use a Bonus Action, for a 4th Attack with an off-hand. Since this Feat now... veto rules the DMG rule. PLUS! Since the attack with that second Hand Crossbow is done through this feat, you still add the Modifier to the attack 🙂
