I’m going to take a crack at explaining it, although I’m probably wrong. Anyone who knows how this is done…chime in if I’m hot or cold in my thinking. NOTE: I’m not a magician in any way. I’m just using logical observation from rewatching the article in slow mo to refute sleight of hand—with that being said… – First…the deck is all 6 of diamonds (as everyone can see now) with one 3 of clubs. – So David placed the three of clubs in the 7th position. What he needs to do is make sure Jamie is intent on dealing fast then slow him down (if he thinks Jamie is going to deal around 10 or more cards) So at first he doesn’t set any limitations just tells him to deal them slowly face down..then as he’s dealing the 5th he says for him to stop whenever he wants. Naturally any skeptic is going to deal out a couple more, but Jamie deals out 3 more before stopping. The SLOWLY pace is to ensure Jamie does not waste time dealing out 30 cards. I feel this is a mental force Blaine uses to keep the number dealt under 10. I think David had an alternate strategy for different outcomes… If Jamie had stopped as he said that, on the 5th.. then he’d ignore those 5 cards and grabbed the rest of the deck (just like he grabbed the viewer’s 8 cards), and say, “so you stopped after 5 cards and he flips the 6th/7th over showing the 7th which is the 3 of clubs. If Jamie had dealt 6 cards, then he’d grabbed the deck showed him the 3 but then would’ve had to use sleight of hand to switch it before handing a 6 DIAMONDS back to Jamie to hold.
My theory would be this. So the whole deck that Jamie got was sixes of diamonds. Note how David holds the deck when he writes on the guys hand. Nobody can see the bottom card (which also would be a 6 of diamonds). Only the first card in the deck is actually the 3 of clubs. After Jamie has dealt the cards David then uses sleight of hand to lift it from underneath the small pile. After revealing the 3 of clubs he puts it back on the small pile which he wouldn’t need to do. He could just give it to Jamie. So there needs to be a reason for that. Obviously it’d be to switch it for any other card in the deck (6 of diamonds since all other cards are just that) and then give that one to Jamie. Now he just needs to get rid of the only 3 of clubs that he has in the small pile, which can be done while everybody is focussing on what’s written in the guys hand. Note here that he takes the hand with the small pile down so we can’t see it. Afterwards it’s the big reveal: all cards are 6 of diamonds. It’s one possible explaination and I can’t be sure if it’s correct. I certainly can’t spot when he switches cards but then again it’s hard to spot if the meagician is really good at sleight of hand and David Blaine seems to be a master at it.
My step son who’s 24 now is legit 90% as good as David with cards! At his high school he was so good he legitimately scared people and they would call him a “Warlock” and a “Wizard”. This trick is easy. When he show the 3ofclubs he actually picks 2 cards of the top. So the 2nd card from the top is the 3 of clubs. And when he shows the crowd what he wrote on the mans hand, he switches out the 3ofclubs and pockets it or whatever. Leaving only 6s in the pack. But how he got Jamie to stop at the second last card being the 3 is some mentalist shit. Execution is flawless
Whenever a magician shows you your card and then puts it facedown on top of the deck right before handing it to you face down….when he showed you your card, there were 2 cards together…so when he puts them face down on top of the deck, its not the card he showed you that he hands to you. Its whatever that 2nd card was. Your card is on the top of the deck. If you don’t get what I’m saying, just watch the trick again and realize that when he shows the 3 and says “So this is your card?” there’s actually 2 cards, not 1. OR…. When he grabbed Jamie’s card to hand it to him and said “hold that”, he pulled from the bottom. He’d have to have been lightning quick and smooth as shit though. And unfortunately, Blaine is all of the above.
This one was pretty easy to spot. The “look what I wrote on your hand” was a miss direction. The whole pack of cards was the 6 diamonds. David is palming the 3 clubs. Does a two card flip when he shows Jamie, then gives him the top card back when he flips it back over. While everyone is looking at that other guys hand at the writing, David sneaks the 3 clubs back in his pocket. Good entertainment though
So, here’s what I think it’s going on: He has a full deck of 6 of diamonds right, about a quarter up the deck, he places a few 3 of clubs, or any other different card between and gives it to Jaime to pull out card by card. He asks him to do it SLOWLY because the different cards are in that in that first quarter (Blaine knows exactly where) When jaime stops, David does a sleight of hand flipping 3~4 cards (enough to reach the desired card) in a way it looks like he is flipping a single one, hence exposing the 3 of clubs. When he flips it back, it’s already the 6 of diamonds on its back, and he gives it to Jaime as if he was holding the 3 of clubs. The rest of the cards in jamie’s hands were always 6 of diamonds. As David draws everyone’s attention to the card in Jamie’s hand, he subtly reaches in his pocket and swaps the deck on his hands for a handful of 6 of diamonds (off camera).
Magician here: I’ll explain the trick. There is no sleight of hand, there’s too many people with their eyes on him. It rather involves a pack of thermo-chromic cards which change colours because of body heat. Blaine asks Jamie to put cards slowly on the other guy’s hand to buy time for the thermo-chromic pack of cards to change colour in Jaime’s hand. Here’s the slightly complicated part. Blaine keeps two versions of the trick ready. It depends on whether the colour of the card which Jamie chooses changes to 6 of diamonds. He slightly modifies the trick for either situation. However, the outcome of trick is the same either way. All the cards turn to 6 of diamonds in the end. Notice that Blaine spares no chance to ensure maximum body contact and heat goes to the cards.

People are illogical..they bash even the best of best..I saw at 0.25x at 0.50x and I couldn’t find any time where he might have switched cards ..BUT at 0:38 you can see that camera is not showing David’s hands..and that’s called an Accomplice … Camera man you are paid.😂 Yes he might have used that time..for something..but I couldn’t find anything that can be pointed out.
in this trick you have a random hidden card thats is Not a 6 of Diamonds. And then you have an entire deck of 6 of Diamonds. The trick is no matter when the person stops, you grab the deck and introduce your hidden card (this is extremely difficult to do, this is why this a very advanced slight if hand) make believe the audience you turned over the card, then the second most difficult part is you again switch top card of the deck with any of the other 6D and you hand the guy That 6D instead of the black card that unquickly disposd. All the cards are 6 of diamonds. However, he’s palming the 3 of clubs in his left hand, you can see it a lil bit if you just follow his hand. Behind the 3 of clubs is another 6 of Diamonds which he will give to Jamie. When Jamie stops dealing, all he has to do is take the cards from the other guy and put the cards he’s palming on top of the pile. He does a double lift to show Jamie the 3 of clubs, then he flips them right over which means he has a 6 of diamonds on top which is the card he gives Jamie to hold, so Jamie believes it’s the 3 of clubs. He goes away from the screen soon after when he’s telling the guy to show everyone what he wrote on his hands, this is where he pockets the 3 of clubs and all that’s left is to reveal everything. Just my theory.
okay the deck is full of 6d’s except for ONE 3c .. Then he has it where the 3c is top 5-10 card, and counts after that – as he counts the cards slowly – get lucky, and then does a perfect lift – down to the 3C, then slaps it back on the deck and top deals 1 off the 6D to jamies hand for him to hold face down – Jamie is ‘of course’ holding the ‘changed’ card the whole time – I also .25x it and didn’t see any palmed cards the whole time… This is my guess – but the ability to lift 2-20 cards if a counter-player ‘goes deep’ in the deck is crazy – maybe the ‘low end pay off’ would be to hand the participant the 6d, and match up the hand writing.. .however you couldn’t expose the deck afterwards with this – without a deck switch..

Everyone is wrong. This is how its done and Blaine the GOAT 1- deck already has 3 at the top, so when he starts dealing it ends up at the bottom. He asks him to deal slowly because he doesn’t want to do the next move with a big pile of cards. Cause it’ll be obvious 2- once Jamie has stopped. When he reveals the top card, he’s actually grabbing the bottom and the top at the same time. When he flips them it reveals the 3. Once he places both back on top of pile the 6 is now at the top. And hands Jamie the six. 3- he then tells everyone to look at what he wrote on the other guys hand(misdirection) now that everyone wants to see whats on his hand. It’s called the 7th psychology stop force. The 7th card is the force card. He asks them to deal very slowly, and then on the 4th card, tells them to stop when they want. Most people will stop on the 7th card, give or take 1 or two cards. He will then double lift or pass some cards if needed to land on the force card if they don’t stop there by themselves. I used to learn how to magic. So… based on my 2 cents… first of all “not the 6 of diamond” David Blaine is not predicting any card. He was THE ONE who wrote it on the guy’s hand, so he just started with the whole deck of card is 6 of diamond. and if you look at his hand at 0:04 you can notice that his left hand is in a fixed position as if he holding onto something. Maybe his wrist. Maybe in his sleeve. Maybe his hand.. I don’t know. But he is definitely not using his left hand when explaining things. 0:24 to 0:27 he is playing with the card. This is where the trick happens when HE HAS the cards. That is the only time he can make any change. Somehow he needs to pull out 3 of clubs. It can only come from two places: top or bottom. At 0:32 he is actually pulling from the second or the bottom card which is 6 of diamond. Distracts everyone by saying “show him what I wrote in his hand” he has the deck of card completely to himself when no one is perusal (taking away 3 of clubs). I don’t know to me this is extremely basic.. I am pretty sure he is the best of the best if he is on TV, but.. yeah..
He rubs the card in Jamies hand multiple times. I think its a special card that changes from heat/friction. I used to get postcards/birthday cards from my uncle that had this effect in them where words would appear if you held it in heat or rubbed the paper. Could be wrong about it being this but just pointing to a feasible way
I respect street magic as an art form but i do not like performing it because it makes me feel like a used car salesmen. Literally 90% percent of what a magician says is a lie or a half truth to me that gets old, also the perspective of the magician is not magical at all its complicated work that you have to perfect. To me impromptu and sleight of hand magic is the best magic and cleanest, most gimmicks are not practical and stage magic is like the WWE of magic. Id rather create magic tricks then perform them. Im more interested in perfecting sleight of hand like a card mechanic and maybe coin magic without any shells.
I think what david blaine does is he does a doublelift with the cards when handing Jamie Foxx the 3 of clubs face down. He does a doublelift to show the 3 of clubs at 0:29. But then he hands jamie the top card which is actually the 6 of diamonds, and jamie doesn’t look at it until the end. dont know how he does everything else tho

So here’s my theory. The whole deck was 6 of diamonds from the beginning. David most surtenly wanted jamie to go slow so that Jamie would stop earlier… Simple psychologi. He then procided to show Jamie the 3 of clubs and then put it back on top of the deck. He then gave jamie a card to hold which wasn’t the 3 of clubs. Because when he showed jamie the 3 of clubs there was a card right under. You can see that by the way David holds the deck. It’s a famous slight of hand grip. So got rid of the 3 of clubs and knew that jamie was holding a six of diamonds just like the rest of the cards in the deck. This is just an observational theory. Let me know what you think.
