The discussion thread revolves around the ability to cast spells with somatic components while using a shield as a paladin. Users share their opinions, suggestions, and tips on how to overcome the challenge or use the War Caster feat. Marking a shield allows VSM or SM material spells to be cast without a free hand, but S and VS spells still cannot be cast with both hands full.
Clerics, druids, paladins, and wizards can all cast spells with a shield in D and D under the right circumstances. Sorcerers cannot cast spells using a shield, according to the PNP game. Paladins can sheath or drop weapons and cast a spell, as they need one free hand for somatic component. However, their shield can have their holy symbol embedded in it, allowing them to cast spells with material components while wielding it with a weapon.
As long as their spellcasting focus is emblazoned on their shield or displayed on their clothing, they can cast. They prepare the list of paladin spells available for them to cast and choose a number of paladin spells equal to their Charisma modifier + half their paladin. War Caster states that you can perform the somatic components of spells even when you have weapons or a shield in one or both hands.
The Githzerai race has the Githzerai Psionics ability, which allows them to cast the Shield spell without needing components once per day, once they hit level 3. However, a Sword and Board Paladin (with a holy symbol shield) can cast any spell with both somatic and material components, just needing the other hand free. Paladins and clerics can mark their shield with their god to use it as a material component, and while it’s in your hand, it can be manipulated.
In 5e, a paladin with a shield should not be able to cast spells without the War Caster feat, let alone one with dual components.

Can druids cast spells while wearing armor?
In D and D 5e, druids do not wear metal armor due to personal beliefs, as they have a stronger connection to the natural world than other characters. They prefer gear made from natural substances like leather, fur, or wood. D and D Lead Rules Designer Jeremy Crawford clarified that multiclassing doesn’t bypass these rules, so proficiency doesn’t affect a druid’s ability to wear armor. Druids can theoretically wear metal armor without affecting their class abilities or making them overpowered.
They are primarily spellcasters with a focus on shapeshifting, healing, and powerful elemental combat spells. Druids typically fight from the back row with spells or turn into wolves, where they would not gain the bonuses of their armor. A D and D homebrew setting that allows druids to wear heavy armor without in-universe ramifications can be done without breaking the game. The restricted druid weapon and armor list reflects the core tenant of the class, as they eschew unnatural elements as much as possible. Dungeons and Dragons 5e druids don’t wear armor because they choose not to, not because they are forced to do so.

To be fair not all warlock Patron’s have to be evil or stand against gods and everything good, I mean the celestial warlock exists so why can’t the Hexblade patron be something good ? I made one hexblade where his patron was a fallen Cellestial that got trapped in the shadowfell, that wasn’t evil just wanted to kill a shit tone of undead to keep the world safe as he grew attached to people. Another Warlock Paladin I made where his patron was one of the former 7 gold dragons/canaries of Bahamut, who felt his mission to help people was not over but he needed a mortal to do that as he could not do it himself from the afterlife And in another game a fellow player made his patron be the spirit of a fallen warrior that was trapped in the hilt of his old sword, and their deal was that he will provide him with additional power and his skills as long as he never break his oath that he swore to protect people, as his character was someone weak but with a good heart (aka low strength and high charisma), everything is possible and it does not need to be two opposite powers
