In Elden Ring, casting spells on a horse is not possible due to the requirement of having a casting device in the off-hand and a weapon in the main-hand. To cast magic, sorcery, and incantations, players must equip their seal in their left hand and equip their staff in their right hand. Dual wielding the catalyst on the left hand allows for easier casting.
When using spells on a horse, players can swing their weapon and cast spells without breaking Unseen Form, including refreshing Unseen Form. Poison mist does not draw aggro. Some spells can be cast on Torrets (your horse) while sprinting at full speed, without slowing down or stopping to cast. Rejection Incantation, similar to the Force Miracle from Dark Souls, can be useful for knocking mounted enemies off their horses.
While mounted, players can use light and heavy attacks, bows and crossbows, cast spells, and use various items, such as regular consumables and Fire Pots. Spell casting is precise and provides quick evasion moves and great positioning. However, mount-fighting is not possible for players with tiny swords. A spell cannot be cast from the back of a galloping horse under any conditions, nor can a wizard or priest cast a spell on the deck of a ship during a storm.
To cast spells while on horseback, players can go to the sorceries page or select a spell or sorcery from the sorceries page and equip it. Then, hit up on the d-pad to cast the spell.
