Can You Get Cigarettes At Rite Aid With Your Hsa?

Rite Aid accepts FSA and HSA cards both online and in-store. Eligible items include over-the-counter medications, dental and vision care, and more. Health savings accounts (HSAs) allow you to use pretax dollars to cover qualified medical expenses, saving money on everyday healthcare items. For the 2024 tax year, the maximum contribution amounts are set by Optum Bank.

The IRS does not allow HSAs to pay for regular health insurance premiums, but there is an exception for unemployed individuals. If you lose your job, you may qualify to use your HSA or FSA to pay for part of your weight-loss journey. Electronic cigarettes are not eligible for reimbursement with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), or a health reimbursement.

Rite Aid offers over 3,000 eligible items, including nicotine patches, quit smoking patches, and nicotine patches for quitting smoking. A smoking cessation program is eligible for reimbursement with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), or a health reimbursement. Rite Aid Nicotine Patches are suitable for those who smoke less than 10 cigarettes/day and can be used after completing nicotine patch steps 1 and 2.

For any questions regarding FSAs or HSAs, please browse the Rite Aid FAQ. Prescription medications from Sam’s Club do not require membership, and non-members can buy pharmaceuticals with a script at no fee. If you use the money in your HSA for something other than a qualified healthcare expense, you will have to pay income tax on the amount spent.

In summary, Rite Aid offers FSA and HSA cards for eligible items, such as nicotine patches, nicotine patches, and prescription medications. To use these funds wisely, keep a copy of your receipt and contact the store for assistance.

  • Just want to reiterate for people who do this, ozone is NOT safe to breath in which is why you run it for short periods of time and don’t stay in the room where you’re running it… I would also suggest you let your house air out for at least 4 hours afterwards just to be safe by leaving windows and doors open. It doesn’t take much ozone to cause damage to your lungs so it’s always good to err on the side of caution.

  • K so we ordered the Airthereal MA5000 Commercial Generator,,2 extra panels and a 4 yr warantee. We really hope you guys get the credit for it and it helps. We used your link. I am not a professional house cleaner. I am a failed (personal) house keeper. I have been severely disorganized since I was a kid. Your articles have given me new perspective. It almost seems like fun now… almost =D Thank you Angela, you and your team are awesome!!

  • My husband brought home a desk, photos, paper, books, and my father in laws folded flag and my mother-in-law was a chain smoker. I can’t get rid of the smell no matter what I do. An ozone eliminator is just not an option. Do you have any advice? Please….the smoke is killing me and my mother inlaw passed away in February so my husband does not want to part with these things and I don’t want him to have to but something has to change. Thank you.

  • I have 4 dogs and when my daughter came home after graduating from university, she brought her dog. So now I have 5! They’re all dachshunds who are notoriously stubborn and hard to potty train, so I have some pet smell. I got an ozone generator and it completely neutralizes the pet smell. I also only have to run it once a month, so it lasts a long time, too!

  • Thank you Angela for the fantastic article!! I bought a home about a year ago that was smoked in for about 15 years… I have repainted the whole house with Killz primer and then paint, replaced carpets, everything has been wiped down at-least twice with vinegar and TSP, electrical outlets and ceilings fans replaced and we still have a pretty noticeable dusty/ stale smoke smell in the house. It is much better than before but still noticeable. When I leave out bowls of vinegar and it evaporates, I get a pretty gross looking sticky brown residue left behind in the bowl- is that really the nicotine in the air that is getting trapped…? Have you ever seen this before? Any suggestions for what to do next or where there may still be smoke odor coming from? I’m thinking HVAC evap coils cleaned and new ductwork next, new floors and Killz primer over the concrete.. Thank you so much!

  • have an unfinished basement that was smoked in for just under a year. the smell is not overwhelming but definitely noticeable. i tried the ozone generator and it doesn’t do a thing. I’ve tried this on a past issue of cat urine and it also failed. Ozone imo is a scam. there is no way to tell exactly what part they smoked in but it is not something that can be wiped down due to its size. is there a recommended mix I can spray on the rafters, walls and floors.?

  • I found this article last night. I have been in my house for years and would normally go outside to smoke, but I started smoking in my bathroom like everyday for 3 weeks and then when my parents were coming to visit, I was trying to get rid of the smoke smell. I was using baking soda and vinegar and plug ins and febreeze. I ordered a $40 ozone generator off of Amazon for next day. Set it for 30 minutes and left the house for a few hours and the smoke smell was gone. The smell now is kind of like salty rain…idk how to describe it, but this was right after me coming home and I’m just happy it doesn’t smell like smoke. Thank you so much cause I never heard of an ozone generator.

  • I have a small 2-bedroom house where my tenant smoked in one room, the bedroom, and yellowed the walls of that room. In that room, we washed the walls, primed with Kilz, painted and took out the carpet and pad. House still smells. The other walls are not discolored, however. If I use an ozone machine to combat the smell, do you think I still need to prime with Kilz the rest of the rooms in the house? Or do you think this machine will do the trick? The tenant is my relative so I am trying not to saddle him with too big of a bill for the Kilz primer work.

  • Thanks for the very informative article, Angela! My ex-roommate used to smoke all the time inside the house. There’s about 7 months of accumulated stench in here. I can’t smell it any more as my nose seems to have got used to it, but every time a guest comes, they complain about the stench. There’s no visible tar on the walls or the floor though. Could an Ozone generator get rid of that smell?

  • Will this work in an apartment even if the smell might be coming from the air ducts? I’m not sure what I’m smelling but something smells I think someone used to smoke in here and my husband says it smells like the hotel smell… does the office do anything about situations like this first time moving in to apartment complex. Thanks!

  • I just bought a fixer upper and the previous owner smoked for 20 plus years. I have ripped out all flooring, window treatments, light fixtures, appliances, cabinets, switch plates etc…total remodeling process to say the least. Next step is to clean the tar with tsp, and unsmoke from Amazon. Then apply 2 coats of kilz restore. For extra piece of mind i believe i will purchase an ozone generator. Never knew!!! It will come in handy for the remodel and years to come. Thanks for ghe awesome tip

  • There’s a lot of products maintenance men use that work in apartment building that deal with this all the time when they have tenants move out and they have to get the unit ready. Usually you pull out the carpet and paint the floor with KILZ paint that seals in odors. There is also a perfume additive you mix in your regular paint for the walls. There is also a device you install in the duct work that uses a really bright uv light to get rid of the odor in the ducts/vents. It works much better than ozone. Ozone won’t do much for a place where the nicotine/tar is literally caked into the walls, floors and duct work for many years. You have to get rid of as much of that nicotine/tar as you can. Vinegar works well for that then you have to seal it in/cover it up.

  • Angela 🤦🏾‍♀️ I just cleaned the SMELLIEST airbnb everrrr. The previous cleaners were ridiculous. The whole house smelled like “old people” and old wood. The gas stove had the entire very large kitchen smelling like old fishy grease. The coffee maker was CAKED. Every cabinet every closet WREAKED.. the 3 couches smelled like sweaty scalp 🤣 sooo many non washable pillows just stinky. Will this help with moist air? Because that’s an issue too lol.. the cleaner left a MOUND of wet mildewy towels I’m going to ask the host for an extra $250 for a 1 time deep cleaning. (On top of the $225 i recieve) i am going to do EVERYTHING in my power to get this smell OUT. I cannot believe his guests pay $500 a night for this.

  • Can I use it inside a garage, for example? If so, how long would you recommend? Also, if I were to use the ozone generator, would the area that I used it in be completely safe to breathe in like 100%? Since I have someone in my household who has smoked in the garage for only about a month, would I need to deep clean the walls/ceilings of the garage? I would also like to mention that the door to the backyard in the garage was open the whole time while the person was smoking in the garage, but it still smells

  • Hello I desperately need you advice. I bought a Travel trailer in an auction and the person on it smoke for about a year. I know this because the trailer is a 2019 and I bought it few month ago. I cleaned all wall floor and everything else I used the ozone machine once already. It reduce the smell but is still there. I am planning to use the machine more than one. What if the smell doesn’t go away completely. Please advise what else I can do. You are my only hope.

  • Because I have a funny odor and one of my rooms, I’m not sure what it is but I suspect that it could be cat Pee,But at the same time it smells like mold it’s a brand new house only three years old I can’t figure out where the smell is coming from can I use this little device that you’re showing here to remove the odor before I call a professional to shampoo the carpet I need help.

  • Thank you – this sounds great for a shorter time of smoking in a space. i just bought a van that a woman had smoked in for 7 years. It is absolutely beautifully build with artistic features, leather, etc. But I cannot sleep in it. What do you recommend for that? Do you realize that three of the last three ozone generator links don’t work? Just to let you know.

  • Hi i am a new sub, if you have a smell in a washer or dryer.should you open them up ? Before turning on the oz machine and open closets!?? Also ? Can it hurt electronics !? I read it could and also outlets ? Sorry, for all the questions i bought a oz machine but i am am older lady widow, So i ve been hesitant to use it . As i ve NEVER used on before . What about the garage? How long do you think i should run it in there ? And a 1350 Sq foot house ? Thank you so much for what you do . I AM BLESSED i found yout website ❤ THANK YOU 👍😊

  • My sisters and I inherited a house that our uncle smoked in for 15 years!! If that’s not bad enough he also died in the house and wasn’t discovered for months!!!! Needless to say the combined smells were almost unbearable! My little sister heard of the ozone cleaner and borrowed one from a friend! We had to use it multiple times in several rooms due to the cigarette smell! It was harder to get rid of then a decomposed body!!!

  • Thank you so much for this! I’ve had roommates renting one of the bedrooms of my 3 bedroom house and they seem to smoke a lot of those pens (although it’s against the contract.) Now that they’re moving out and I’m turning it into a nursery for my little one on the way, I’ve been searching for some way to get that smell out because I don’t want the baby breathing in second hand smoke. You just saved me so much time, money, and effort. Which is great because I thought I’d have to sit there scrubbing away when I barely have energy with this pregnancy. From me and my husband, Thank you very much Angela 🙂

  • just don’t allow smokers to live in your house. that’s what we did for our condo. I just hope they would follow the rule. haha Edit: When we washed our carpets in our condo, we made a mistake of doing it on a Sunday and letting it sit in 55-degree temps. I have no sense of smell, so I didn’t notice a difference in the place. will this work for that in case something like that happens again?

  • I just moved into an apartment that used to be lived in by a heavy smoker. We had to clean off layers of tar film off the doors and walls. The smoke smell is worse when we turn on the air conditioning. The biggest source of the problem seems to be in the vents. Would the ozone generator work for this problem?
