Why does DeVry have a bad reputation?

The Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit against DeVry University, one of the largest for-profit colleges in the US, alleging that its advertisements deceived consumers about the likelihood of graduates finding jobs in their fields of study and earning more than those with other degrees. The lawsuit follows a major whistleblower lawsuit filed against ITT Technical Institute last year, alleging that the institution repeatedly defrauded taxpayers by taking billions of dollars in federal student aid while systematically deceiving students and violating federal regulations. The Obama Administration has also announced plans to cancel up to $30 million in loans for former students of Corinthian College who claim they were defrauded by the school.

  • while I feel Purdue is ultimately the larger issue, I feel ucf is underranked. a medieval suit of armor alone weighs 110 lbs, so that plus the weight of a human would be at least around 250. thats not even getting into the whole “its colored gold means its composed of gold” logic here. Additionally, while you use the elephant for Bama instead of a crimson tide since the elephant is used visually more often, you end up using a hurricane for U of M even though they always use an Ibis as a visual mascot rather than a team name. Good article, nevertheless.

  • In addition to Tiger+Eagle, Auburn also had it’s revered, sacred Toomers Corner Oaks that were lovingly adorned each win with rolls of flowing toilet paper. Until in 2010 an Alabama fan poisoned them in an act of revenge and hatred due to the longstanding rivalry between the two schools. I feel like that’s an episode of Pretty Good in the making.

  • Feel like Bama was under ranked here. Crimson Tide is an algal bloom… way larger than the elephant they were credited with. Algal blooms would be on the level of a hurricane. Alternatively I would have accepted the cumulative weight of all the cast, crew and props used on the 1995 movie, Crimson Tide.

  • DeVry, for what it’s worth, are (or at least were at the time of the 253-141 game) the Hoyas – incidentally, the same as Georgetown University. It appears to be a reference to an old cheer of Georgetown’s. However, I wasn’t able to find any information on why DeVry of Decatur chose it, or for that matter what their actual mascot was (as Georgetown’s is a bulldog). DeVry of Fremont, however, do have a mascot – and funnily enough, it’s a dragon. I guess when it comes to mascot weight, they are indeed serious about success, even if it doesn’t apply to everyone’s favorite basketball ball team.

  • i dont know why i came back to this article but i did, seeing as western kentucky is a hilltopper, and the college was originally built on a big hill, and a big hill is a part of earth we can estimate that the hilltopper is the heaviest mascot at the weight of earth 1.31660063 × 10^25 lbs, but if you dont like that use the weight of the original building which i dont know quick edit even though it doesnt matter: arizona state sun devils should not be listed as a human but as the unknowable because we dont know how much a devil weighs and at that, a sun devil

  • I have many problems with this listing. As a UAB student I am amused by the 1lb difference between our dragon and Bama’s elephant, but if you’re going to combine mascots for Auburn (though their mascot isn’t an eagle at all) then you should also combine Alabama’s elephant with a Crimson Tide as that is what they are known as. And if you’re going to do this here, you should do it with every school on this list that has two mascots or labels.
