Dawnguard introduces several restoration spells that do sun damage, such as Vampire’s Bane, which grants 36 XP. Players can increase their Restoration experience gain by activating the Mage Stone for 20% to all magic skills, the Lover Stone for 15% to all skills, or by casting Sun Fire, an apprentice level Restoration spell added by Dawnguard.

Sun spells tie in with the restoration school as a damage source, and if you’re already specialized, it’s better to stick with Sun spells. Casting healing spells while at full health or using wards without taking damage does not raise the Restoration skill. However, casting circles with no enemies around will.
A mod that takes Ordinator’s Sun Spells (Holy Hands, Sunblast, and Stellar Core) and injects them with Mysticism/Adamant’s keywords and tweaks a few of the Sun spells in Restoration so that none of their components use Destruction instead of Restoration for XP/XP. Sun Fire is an offensive Restoration spell added in the Dawnguard DLC, dealing sun damage to undead.

Once you’re a member of the College of Winterhold, the illusion teacher Drevis will give you a quest to cleanse the focal points in the college. Cleansing the point can randomly give you a huge magicka regen buff for 2 hours. You might have to quicksave and reload a few times to get it. You can power level all your magic skills before it expires. You can spam telekinesis and muffle in the upstairs and there’s a single low level draugr in the midden for turn undead and soul trap. For destruction you can use a single target spell like lightning bolt on the Thalmor agent, Ancano. He’s essential so he can’t die and no one cares if you attack him.
After finishing the Winterhold quests and have access to the Labyrinthian, there’s an Alteration spell book inside called “Equilibrium” that costs hp in exchange for magicka, that means you can use Equilibrium until you’re low hp and then heal yourself. This way you can level up both Alteration and Restoration at the same time.
Circle of protection is the most OP spell in Skyrim if you have the atronach perk in Alteration. Because you are then able to stand in the middle of the circle of protection and constantly absorb magic from the spell as you constantly cast the spells you want to cast until circle of protection ends and you simply have to cast it again. This helps you not run out of magic in combat and while training other schools of magic. It is phenomenal. You don’t need any enchanted gear at all. All you need to do is get your restoration and alteration up and the easiest way to do that is to talk to the illusion guy and ask if there is anything you can help with and he will give you the task of focusing the magic focul points in the college. Use that to get the magic buff that allows you to cast magic without pause for hours to level up alteration and restoration. You can get the telekinesis spell from redwater den and level it up in the college and after you level up alteration you can then level up your restoration and if your buff of magic runs out simply go to one of the other focul points and get another magic buff. You may want to save before focusing them incase you don’t get the buff right away so you can reload your save until you get it. But you can go down to the midden and there will be a draugr or the skeletons down there that you can level up your restoration on and as you level up you can buy higher spells from collette. And training if you want. I use the atronach perk at that point to stand in the circle of protection and cast circle of protection over and over again to level up restoration the rest of the way instead of chasing skeletons or draugr all over the place.
I did quest in morthal for jarl and during investigation was attacked by vampire. Strikes it by turn undead, vampire run away not so far make itself invisible yelling typical way. Light from spell still emanated from invisible body in night revealing exact location. I felt like true mage of light from some movie where caster can not straightforwardly defeat evil but can makes it retreat. Also stendar aura during night when invisibility spell is active on you is like you are running ball of light wherever you go. Amazing.
I found that using turn greater undead is slightly faster than using circle of protection. It takes slightly longer to cast but it takes less overall casts to level up. From level 90 to 91 it took 26 casts of circle of protection to level up and from 91 to 92 it only took around 17 casts to level up with turn greater undead. I tested it in the hall of the dead in whiterun where skeletons would repeatedly run into the circle every 30 seconds (i’m not sure if that affects xp whether or not you actually repel an undead) and I hit a skeleton with turn greater undead every time. But if you don’t have zero cost casting then you’ll want to use circle of protection so you don’t have to be in combat where you can’t rest
Now I’m just mad bc I know I won’t remember any of this tomorrow and just be frustrated trying to level up blocking + restoration with a single draugr in some boring dungeon for an hour. 😭😫 Okay damn, I take that back, that Lydia moment was relatable af, I’ll at least remember that! 🤣 Ah, if only Serana could die…
Skyroom doesn’t got enough spells or shouts. In fact, there should be one extra skill tree on the game, the dragonborn skill tree all that I never really liked that about the game but don’t get me wrong. Skyrim is one of my favorite games there’s just some things I don’t like about it that could be improved on by Bethesda, but I highly doubt that’ll ever happen.
3 pts of damage for 30s = 90dmg Plus restauration potion Plus weakness to poison poison I have to test that, seems op Btw guardian circle + absorb magicka is powerful for health and magicka regen A good restauration caster breezes through every dungeon with ease, even one-shot the bone dragon in master difficulty. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
