Do Spells For The Druid Circle Have Their Own Slots?

Druids in D&D 5e have a unique ability to cast circle spells connected to their land, which can be arctic, coast, desert, forest, or grassland. At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level, druids gain access to circle spells connected to their land. The type of spell slot they can recover depends on their current level, enabling them to regain spell slots equal to or less than half their level.

Druids of the Circle of the Moon are masters of using their Wild Shape ability, gain more powerful shapeshifting options as they level, and can eventually take on elemental forms. There are currently seven official Druid subclasses known as “Circles”, which represent the holy gatherings of druids who meet in the depths of the wilderness.

The Druid Features table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your level 1+ spells. You regain all expended slots when you finish a Long Rest. The number of spells you can prepare is equal to WIS modifier + druid level. Druids work the same as clerics, getting all the spells on the druid spell list and can freely swap them out during long rests.

Druid circles give their characters additional features and spells on top of those they get from leveling up and the Wild Shape ability. At level 1, a Level 1 Spell Slot might let you turn into a CR 1 creature. You can recover either a 2nd-level slot or two 1st-level slots.

The Druid table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell slot. For example, if you are a 3rd-level druid, you have four 1st-level and two 2nd-level spell slots. By giving druids a chance to cast circle spells, they can increase their power and prepare more powerful spells.

Can a moon elf be a druid?

Moon elves are a nomadic group of elves that are drawn to various paths and are known for their love of music, bards, and their skills in various professions. They are not as revered as sun elves or wood elves, but they are skilled warriors and often choose to become rangers or rogues. Moon elves are also enamored with magic and many take up wizard’s arts.

Moon elves are nomadic spirits who rarely settle down in one place and are comfortable living among sun elves and wood elves, as well as in areas dominated by humans, halflings, or gnomes. Their homes are simple, unassuming, and comfortable.

Moon elves are less solemn and serious in their actions than sun elves, preferring light-hearted songs and poems, and enjoy a variety of art styles, including paintings and sculpture. They are fond of games of chance and gambling, and their society is characterized by drinking, feasting, and reveling.

What class gets the most spell slots?

The number of spell slots available to characters is contingent upon their class. Full casters, such as wizards or bards, possess a greater number of slots than half casters, including paladins. Each class has a distinct rule for determining spell casting. The act of resting allows energy to return, a process that is identical for spell casters and martial fighters. Subsequent posts will address the class-specific rules governing spell casting.

Do Circle of the Moon Druids get spells?

Level 3 of the Circle of the Moon Spells table allows you to always have prepared spells when reaching a Druid level. This feature can be used while in Wild Shape form. Level 3 also allows you to channel lunar magic when in Wild Shape form, providing challenges, armor class, and temporary hit points. The maximum Challenge Rating for the form is your Druid level divided by 3, and your AC until leaving the form is 13 plus your Wisdom modifier if it’s higher than the Beast’s AC.

Do Druids pick their spells?

Druids are spellcasters who can prepare spells for their characters after long rests, based on their wisdom modifier and current level. The number of spells per level is determined by the number of spell slots each level has. Druids can choose two cantrips at first level and learn more as they level up. They can swap out as many spells as they can learn from the druid spell list during long rests.

Ritual casting allows druid characters to cast a spell if they have no remaining slots, but it requires a ritual tag and preparation. Casting ritual spells takes approximately ten minutes, making it better suited for spells that can be cast before or after combat. Druids cannot cast ritual spells at higher spell slot levels to increase aspects like radius, target number, or damage dealt.

Druids can transform into animals and other beasts due to their connection to nature, but they cannot form unique bonds with other animals as humans.

Do circle spells take up spell slots?

Gaining access to a circle spell does not count against daily preparations. If a spell is not on the druid spell list, it is still a druid spell for you. Land’s Stride allows you to move through nonmagical terrain without extra movement costs starting at 6th level. You can also pass through nonmagical plants without being slowed or taking damage. Additionally, you have an advantage on saving throws against magically created or manipulated plants.

Do druids have spell slots?

To prepare a list of druid spells, choose from the druid spell list and choose a number equal to your Wisdom modifier and Druid level. The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For example, a 3rd-level druid with a Wisdom of 16 can include six spells of 1st or 2nd level in any combination. Casting a spell doesn’t remove it from the list.

You can change your list of prepared spells after a long rest and require at least 1 minute of prayer and meditation per spell level for each spell on your list. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability, as your magic draws upon your devotion and attunement to nature. You use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a druid spell and making an attack roll.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.

How do druids regain spell slots?

Why are moon druids so good?

The Circle of the Moon druid in D and D 5e is a subclass that prioritizes using Wild Shape in combat over spellcaster abilities. It offers improved Wild Shape forms, more abilities, and the ability to become an elemental at high levels. Combat Wild Shape is a bonus action that allows a Moon druid to enter combat, shift, and take almost a full first turn. However, its bonus action healing is inefficient but can be life-saving.

Circle Forms ensures that a D and D 5e druid can rely on their Wild Shapes in combat, lifting the CR cap for Wild Shape forms significantly. This keeps a Moon druid competitive but results in unpredictable spikes and dips in power across twenty levels.

How to get spell slots back?

Spell slots return when you rest, providing energy for spell casters and martial fighters. After a long rest, all expended spell slots are restored, allowing mages to cast again. Warlocks, on the other hand, return their spell slots after a short rest, allowing them to excel in long adventuring days or dungeon crawls. Class-specific ways to return spell slots include sorcerers exchanging sorcery points for spell slots and wizards using Arcane Recovery.
