I love your articles! We went in February for the first time in 10 years and I religiously watched all your articles and followed every tip and it made our trip AMAZING! We never waited more than 10 mins for anything in every park and did every ride we wanted to! My husband was thrilled and my 4 and 6 year olds had the best time and I have you to credit for a lot of that!! Thanks for all you do!!
Incredible educational article. I was trying to find your bio to see if you are/were an educator. You truly have a gift! I’m a regular viewer of many Disney vlogs, and this is the most comprehensive, clear instructional tutorial out there right now. You have made me a fan. I’ll keep coming back for more content.
Thank you so much for your usual thorough coverage. I’m new to your website but I’m already a big fan. Your unique coverage of doing genie with larger groups was crucial for my granddaughter when she did a once in a lifetime high school graduation trip with a group of 8. Thank you, thank you, thank you! She wasn’t able to get tron for the group since they were not staying in a Disney hotel but I look forward to using your advice for a future trip. I was surprised to hear you have to already be in MK when you try for an extra hours virtual queue for tron since I didn’t think that was the case for guardians at Epcot? Already looking forward to your next post.
Hi Rob we are a family of 4 from the Uk just returning from an amazing 2-week first Disney world trip! I watched your articles before we left and I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your tips and advice about the parks and the intricacies of Genie plus. Your advice was really really helpful and accurate, right down to playing the genie slots, it totally worked! Take care, Sarah
Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial! Thanks to this, I got boarding passes EVERY day I was eligible. I literally only missed one 7am draw for Tron (on a busy weekend), and even then easily got the 1pm draw that same day. The fact that you actually show your screen rather than just describing what to do really helped. It made our vacation SO much easier!
Hi! It was a pleasure meeting you at the TRON ramp opening day. We love your articles and we were so excited to see you at the park. Remember I asked you about which area is the best for phone 5g. I think you have better carrier with Verizon. My ATT is just horrible at the parks. I asked cast members too and they told me to definitely stay away from Tomorrowland and better off at fantasyland if you are trying for the 1pm VQ. I had a better connection at our Disney resort in the mornings. As I told you I was returning to MK on Friday and I was able to then get a VQ at 7am for boarding group 58 and I bought a LL for nighttime ride. So much fun. We really like TRON but nothing compared to guardians of the galaxy that one still our number one ride at Disney. Hopefully we will see you another time at the parks. Keep making amazing articles!!
Hi Rob! Thank you so much for all of your thorough articles they were so helpful!! We just got back from our trip. We were there the week before Easter. We skipped MK on the 4th and went on the 5th and 6th. Scored Virtual queues for Tron both mornings!! But the best thing was when we left our hotel room at PO French Quarter on the 4th, opening day for Tron, we saw you filming a article in the court yard right outside our building. Too funny!! All your tips allowed for us to have an enjoyable time ride every ride and see every show we wanted to do during the busiest week of the year yet! We had a few moments of crazy long lines for things we couldn’t get Genie + for, but in the grand scheme of things it was not too bad.
I see all these people commenting and I have to add to it: your articles made our Disney trip during Spring Break (Mar. 19-25) practically perfect. We did five days, all four parks (MK twice) with kids aged 3 and 8. Not only did we do everything we wanted and more, but our longest line the entire trip was 20 minutes–for Winnie the Pooh of all things! The modify lightning lane idea saved us literally hours of waiting and miles of walking (though we did walk 50 miles in those five park days!!) The crown was modifying a 6:45pm Frozen LL (best I could get after riding Remy at 10:30am) down to 11:45am while waiting for crepes, giving us time to grab lunch before our Cosmic Rewind LL (and I forgot to do the 1:00pm VQ, but still managed to snag one at 2:00pm for after dinner! And I guess THAT was our longest line (about an hour) but it was worth it to ride it again!). Anyway, you have no idea how much you impacted our trip and for that you have my deepest thanks. Keep up the great work, I’ll recommend your website to anyone taking a trip. (We rode Tron twice!!)
I was there the next day (4/5)- we failed at the 7am VQ but bought an ILL then snagged the 1:00 VQ! Ended up riding those back to back at night, was so cool in the dark! Walked off as the fireworks were starting, pretty magical! Our trip was great and my teen and I loved playing the genie slots to modify our LLs! You’d be proud 😊
Hi Ear Scout, Firstly, best Disney YouTube website by far. we are staying French Quarter for our first onsite visit. If you wanted to use early park hours from there would you say the buses start early enough to get a good spot. You recommend in articles about getting there early for “early hours”, but i’m worried the buses only start 45 mins before and so it will be busy already. What is your experience so far. Just watched your Epcot one and you were right at the front of early park hours. Thats what i want to plan to do, get there early.
Thanks to your tips on getting virtual boarding groups via mobile data rather than using the Disney WiFi we were successful each morning and got Tron two mornings and Guardians two mornings. Got group 3 and group 5 on two occasions – latest group was 63 for Tron on one of the days, (and that was refreshing on WiFi from 6.59am) so I think without your tips we definitely would have missed out.. I have enjoyed perusal your articles while preparing for the trip, they have been very helpful, thank you. Love your enthusiasm x
We just returned to the UK after our long awaiting WDW visit, and Rob, sir, you are a legend. I really hoped to see you in one park as you have been so helpful in our preparation for this (expensive) trip, I really think you helped us get the most out of it. We won’t be able to come again now for a good few years, but I’ll keep perusal as I’m a little addicted to your website.
Rob, you are the best! I normally don’t comment on articles but wanted to give you kudos for a job well done on this website. Your articles were so helpful in planning our trip to Disney World over spring break! It was a little stressful as Genie plus sold out every day that we were there but since we were up late anyway I purchased them at midnight just in case lol! Because of your tips we got to ride EVERYTHING we wanted (except for Slinky and Remy which were down 😢 and we had a tired Kindergartner). Otherwise it was a fantastic trip and we have you to thank!
Thank you again Rob for the tips and great article. You are my GO TO for how to get around the Disney parks! I watched your articles prior to my trip in the Fall with my son, and now planning another trip with my daughter & her friend! Can’t wait to try out the new TRON ride. Oh, and my son and I rode GOG ride twice in a day when we were there and LOVED IT! Definitely my new favorite. Keep up the great work. ~ Tracey
Was good to meet you last week at French Quarter. I see what you mean now about the back seats. I didn’t ride again but will shoot for those next time I am down. Using your tips we pulled off five Genie+ reservations Sunday at MK and another six reservations Thursday at MK. Had two more Thursday after the fireworks but my daughters were out of gas so we let them go. Thanks for all the articles, they helped a ton.
👋 we just had our first successful trip to Disney this past week thanks to the Ear Scouts.. I’d watch the article for the park we were visiting the day prior and make a strategic plan…. 1 quick tip we were lucky to get in the virtual cue for Tron… you may wanna add the tip for anyone not using a magic band…. like us as we are not frequent goers so the price wasn’t worth it… but for Tron lockers if you don’t have a magic band you’ll need to get a card from the cast member to put your things in the locker…. 😊
Hi Rob, we were at Disney from the end of March to early April which meant we got the soft opening and the first few days of the official opening. I watched your VQ tips for Guardians in preparation for this ride, and I’m thrilled to say we got the 7am VQ with a 100% hit rate on both Tron & GOG (3 & 2 respectively). That was off site and on hotel WiFi too. So your tips are certainly working. We had a great time too using the genie+ on various days. Thanks!
Again Rob, you really have some great tips that I’ve never heard and I watch a LOT of YouTubers lol. I never really considered how the view was connected to where you are on the train. I’ll be there in 5 weeks and hoping for at least 5 rides. Maybe more if I decide to spring for an AP. 😃 Thanks again for all the work you put into your articles! It is greatly appreciated!
Love all the articles with the tips amd tricks. Always straight to the point but so informative. On mickey not so scary nights there is no genie+ so how can you ride tron during that event? Can you still do virtual que that day and also purchase the individual lighting for a time slot during that event?
We got into the VQ during the soft opening. The ride was fun, but I’m not sure I would go to any trouble to ride it again. I’m guessing they originally intended it to come out before Guardians because it seems a little underwhelming in comparison. It was also stressful to try and plan our day around the VQ boarding group. Our estimated return time was jumping all over the place. It will be nice when it comes off the VQ and absorbs more of the rope drop crowd.
I have a question????? We just found your website and absolutely love how informative and thorough your articles are. You do a great job on them and we appreciate all your help!!! Were you and Eric both logged into the same account in order to pull both an individual lighting lane reservation and a virtual que or were you in your own separate accounts that were linked? I only ask because I’m trying to decide what route is easier to get a ride let’s say tron twice in one day. My plan was to log into my wife’s account since she is the one with our families managed accounts and while she is reserving the individual lightning I will, logged into her account via my phone, be attempting to reserve a virtual que spot. What are your thoughts please?!!!
You are such a good teacher! Thank you! I need help with a tricky upcoming short trip. We’re at a Deluxe resort and arriving on a Wed. so utilizing Extended hours in MK with a park hopper. We can start in EPCOT at about 3:30pm and ride GofG, then physically tap into MK at 5pm and score TRON VQ. Is this a realistic approach? How should we be utilizing our G+ LL and $LL while in transit such as first thing in the am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm?
Rob, can I click to join a Virtual Queue or buy Individual LL passes, (I will have already bought Genie+ @ midnight) even tho I will be here in Houston, Tx @ 7am? My flight leaves for Orlando @8am, lands in Orlando @2pm, we are staying at a Disney Value resort… and we want to go to Magic Kingdom (which tragically closes @7pm on July 31st, our arrival day) I don’t want to miss out on Tron. I will definitely be playing The Genie Slots as well… 😉
Hi Rob thank you so much for putting this all together and all your hard work, I live in California, been to Disney World twice and Disneyland so many times I can remember, one question I have for you is how does the handicap thing work, Disneyland used to be real nice and accommodating now it’s getting a Less accommodating, and a bit of a hassle.
Hi Rob! I am headed to Disney World next month. Have been many times, but Genie+ and LL attractions is all new to me! Can you purchase Tron as a LL attraction without needing to try and join a boarding group at 7am/1pm? Can I also just purchase the LL for RTR and guardians of the galaxy vs trying to grab a boarding group? Thanks in advance and thanks for all your tips and tricks!
Is there any chance that you don’t get to ride with your boarding group on the virtual queue if there are a lot of individual lightening lanes that have been purchased? May I ask how long you usually have to wait to ride when you’re with your boarding group in the virtual queue vs when you have an individual lightening lane?
Dear Rob, thanks for your greats articles!. I have a question for you, What happen when you set your party for the Individual atraction LL or the virtual queue for two people (not the entire group), but then you want to take genie+ LL for the complete group (three people) at 7AM. You have to set your party again? I will not affect your previous individual LL or VQ already booked? in my case some people dont want to get Tron, but the wat to get bookings for other attractions using Genie+ LL. Thanks!!
Hi Rob! We are going to Disney for the first time and will be staying off site. I have heard getting into MK is complicated and that the monorail doesn’t start running until 8am even though Main Street opens up for all guests at around 7:45am. Do you know what time the first ferry runs and how long it takes to get from the TTC to MK via ferry? We would like to get some nice Castle pictures while all resort guests are rushing over to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. I can’t seem to find a ferry schedule anywhere or any information on how to get to MK as a non-resort guest anywhere. Thanks!
It seems like Disney is limiting many people from being able to plan a Disney vacation with all the hoops to go through to-even have a chance at enjoying many rides. What about a senior citizen couple who may not even own a cell phone or a computer plan their vacation. They will be standing in long lines and many only get to ride a few rides. Think of the person whose work day begins before 7:00am. They can’t be in a queue on their phone to get the VIP rides and attractions. There are too many ” ifs, ands, or buts to all the rules in getting Genie+, Lightning Lane, Park Hopper, a Tron ride, and many others . .
The unnerving part of Disney that has all of us in the edge of madness … reserving rides at 7 am paying for lighting lanes to later come back to use our expensive genie plus 2 times during the day for a party of 4 or more since everything else was taken because of the lightning lane … madness I am Disney forgiving all the time but does indeed made me upset at times. I need to learn how to make things possible from different Disney accounts to get my teens to help me … is so stressful for just mom at the end of the vacation I am happy if we achieved the rides we wanted it … otherwise I am frustrated and 8000 dlls broke
