Is Spell Casting Possible In Ghost Wolf?

The Ghost Wolf bug has been a persistent issue since patch 10.0.7, which introduced the ability to transform a shaman into a ghost wolf, increasing movement speed by 30. This magical buff can be dispelled by priests, hunters, felhunters, or other shamans. It can also be spellstolen by a mage, but they won’t take the morph effect.

A talent allowing rsham to purge/cleanse/totem cast in ghost wolf form without exiting already makes the ghost form very strong. In Ghost Wolf, the caster cannot cast any spells, use any skills, use any non-gathering professions, or mining. Shamans can use Ghost Wolf, Monk can roll, but Hunters can’t cast their Cheetah as Hunter.

The issue is particularly concerning for Shamans, Monk, and Hunters. Shamans can use Ghost Wolf, Monk can roll, but Hunters can’t cast their Cheetah as Hunter. Some suggest two solutions: 1) allowing Spirit Walk baseline without having to cast any separate spell; and 2) allowing the ability to water walk baseline without having to cast any separate spell.

The only Shaman spells that can be cast while in Ghost Wolf form are Spirit Walk and Unleash Life //. Casting spells against melee players is difficult, especially if you’re ele (or just healing). Frostshock is considered instant, but it requires standing still to cast. Casting Dire Ghost Wolf uses air and water totems, and using any air or water totem ability will bring you out of Dire Ghost Wolf form.

In conclusion, the Ghost Wolf bug has caused issues with the ability to cast spells, use skills, and interact with items. While some players have reported issues with casting spells, others have found it useful for occasional use.

  • I am one of the rare few who managed to get the retail kind. I still have it, and it have never left my side. It is by far the rarest pet in the game now. On my serveer i havn’t seen anyone else with it. Ofc there are now spirit beasts like this, but they get confused when im in MM spec and see it. So happy i had a couple of friends who helped me get this.

  • So I guess I’m one of the few who have this Grimtotem Spirit Guide ghost wolf pet on my OG retail hunter. Here’s my story… I was a level 63 Draenei Hunter slowly working my way up the levels during the original Burning Crusade. Luckily, I didn’t have much to worry about as I was a 16yo kid who’s priorities were simply getting my homework done and then making sure I had enough time to quest and level my character before I had to get to bed for school the next day (which really meant that I would pretend to go to bed and just turn my computer back on after I knew my mother went to bed). I had seen a few hunters running around with some of the fabled glitched pets. I remember one of the popular ones at the time back then was the green slime pet glitch. I never cared too much about getting that one, or really any of the exploitable pet glitches… until I saw this one level 70 Dwarf hunter running around Ironforge with the one pet I had never seen anyone with. And it truly peaked my curiosity… to a level where I wouldn’t accept not having one of my own. So naturally, I asked him how he got it in a whisper. He didn’t respond, so much as even acknowledge me following him around for a bit. But I was a persistent annoying kid, so I didn’t stop. And back when I saw this, to my later understanding, he had been one of maybe a few on the server who had it at the time. I mean this thing was rare to see, he was the first one I had seen with it. Anyway, I continued to ask him. To which, he eventually just told me the words “Grimtotem Spirit Guide” followed by “It’s really hard to get” and soon after logged off, leaving me with only that tidbit of knowledge to figure it out.

  • There was another Karoma skinned trick tame in Ashenvale. The Ghostpaw wolves in that area would transform into a spirit model just like that of Karoma. I made a article back in the day. Sadly, I lost mine when it died during a dungeon. Thinking I could just go back and get another, it seems to have been hotfixed and now turns back into a normal ghostpaw wolf after tame.

  • its always so shitty when Blizzard does this, they were just fun wolves and took a lot of effort to get. and if you didn’t use Petopia to find out where beasts were and how to get them you missed out on a lot of fun pets. there used to be this really cool glitch where some beasts would actually change their colours each time you summoned them, they got removed/fixed when WoD was released so those specific beasts you went after so you could basically get like 4 pets in one in the case of a specific raptor that only goblins had access to.
